Plot
While the war between the Varden and the Empire escalates into full-scale turmoil, fleets of small ships, ancient beyond measure, are discovered. Three ships were seen at dawn entering the port city of Teirm. Empire magicians and scholars found them completely deserted, with no sign of any crew or other habitation. Reports stated that they had appeared to had been piloted using a device of ancient magic unknown to any magician or sorcerer in the Empire. Meanwhile, identical ships entered Surda. The Varden quickly came to the same conclusion as the Empire, finding that the ships had been piloted by the same ancient magic.

The only thing either side could decipher was a set of maps found on the ship. One thing that all of the scholars, Empire or Varden, could agree on was they led to the ancient homeland of the elves, far to the west.

The Varden, desperate to find any trace of the elves' ancient and powerful civilization, as well as hope of locating any surviving dragons, immediately started work on a fleet of ships. These ships would carry brave volunteers to explore the lost land of the elves, and to bring back what aid they could find before all hope was lost.

The Empire, under the order of Galbatorix, also built a powerful fleet. Unlike the Varden, their ships were prepared for war and conquest. Soldiers, mercenaries, scholars, sorcerers, magicians, even Shades and Riders, were gathered. The might of the Empire was being gathered to wage war on the new continent, and to harness whatever they could find to finally crush the Varden once and for all.

Strangely enough, similar boats were spotted in random areas near the sea and large areas, including Narda, the Hardic Desert, and several other locations. These ships were empty, and any passenger who dared set foot in them were seen dragged off by the current towards an unknown location (the continent to the west).

Now, as the two sides race against each other to reach the lost land, what will they find? And who will be the victor in the new war that is sure to come, transplanted far from home, but losing none of the animosity?

 Dreams?
« Thread Started on May 17, 2008, 8:05am »

I just had this very conversation with a few friends, and it turned out rather interesting.

Dreams, ones you've had recently/old dreams you remember, in all their beautiful, scary or entirely random goodness. Do tell if you wish!

I'll start with a random one to get the ball rolling.

Last night I dreamt I was looking in a mirror, randomly wriggling my eyebrows at my own reflection, then suddenly they went REALLY wriggly then crawled off my face.

Turns out they were caterpillars, ftw.

mine's rather random too.

I was jumping off of rooftops, then next thing I know I'm in a mosh pit, then I'm getting punched in the face by a dude with a green mohawk, then next scene I'm on top of a pirate ship.

Strange..............

Haha! I had a dream last night, but I forgot what happened. Anyways...I have studied dreams for quite a while. I guess you could say I'm one of those weird "dreams can tell us things about ourselves" people lol.

Actually we all dream every night. But in order to remember them we have to be awoken when the brain is in the deep sleep stage, which occurs from 4 to 6 hours after we first fall asleep. Time your sleeping so you wake up from 4 to 6 hours. You'll be amazed how much you remember!

Nice, and I don't find that happens to me...I rarely sleep over 6 hours and don't remember many of my dreams.

So, what does eyebrows crawling off your face mean? xD

Lol. Honestly most of the stuff we dream are just random images popping into our heads with no real importance. To have eyebrows in your dream symbolizes amazement, bewilderment, disblief, or doubt. Crawling indicates that you are approaching your goals with careful forethought and preparation.

From these two things, you can already tell it makes little to no sense at all! lol. And that's just it, it makes no sense. The human brain is so complex and so difficult to decipher that it would be near imopssible to decode our dreams accuartely, not saying it can't be done.

I find it easier to decipher my dreams when something catastrophic happens such as a death of a friend, or when I myself am stuck in a certain situation. The dreams where, for example, clowns turn into poodles which start reciting the Gettysburg Address then sip lemon tea, are, in my opinion, just nonsense that the mind is throwing out. Just speculating though. lol

THIS IS A FUNNY ONE..

I dreamt that wallmart came here (because we don't have any now, nor do we have ramen or oreos, which are apparently good).

and the first thing I did on the first day it opened was rode through every isle on a unicicle, causing trouble.

It's actually going on my list of things to do before I die.

It must!

Sure. All you have to do is genetically engineer a unicorn.

Me and my friend (who is similarly very intelligent, though incredibly lazy) have noticed that recently, we don't have dreams that we can remember. When we do, we remember them vividly, almost to the point of visceral physical memory, although the more ominous or disturbing ones seem to escape me, unfortunately. The dreams are of mundane, everyday things, but detail is exquisite, and physical orientation, time of day, lighting, and even speech of other people is noticed and memorized in sequence. However, both of us have noticed the fact that they are of things not yet come to pass. I would call it the sensation of deja vu, but seeing as the dreams and the things that concern them are several weeks apart, we have come to the conclusion that we are experience a form of primitive or basic prophecy.
Deja vu is merely a lag between your brain and your sensory inputs, giving you the illusion of doing something twice. I've also had feelings much like this, but always they were tied to my dreams, and not even within recent memory.

...I'm serious, too. Please don't think me any more crazy than you already do. Although if you have any alternative theories, I'd be happy to listen. (Though I'd be slightly disappointed about finding I'm not an epic prophet. Then I couldn't get a massive beard and a set of robes and eat locusts in the nearest desert. It'd cost to much without the "divine messenger" discount airlines give.)

*stares* Crazy person. *Hides*

I'm kidding, I get that too. Though I sometimes just stop when in the middle of doing something and shout 'Deja vu!' I dream about doing everyday stuff, though never in such good detail or anything. Though I remember doing something like this in psychology.

Three majour types of Deja vu, or paramnesia.
Deja Vecu where there is a lot of detail, sensing that everything is just as it was before and a weird knowledge of what is going to be said or happen next
Deja S-something. something 'already felt.' Unlike the precognition of déjà vécu. It is primarily a mental happening, no precognitive aspects, and rarely if ever remains in the persons memory afterwards.
Deja viste where you know something, like a place or landscape but don't remember how.

Deja vu is usually lniked with dreams, but you never know. Could be premonition. No one understands the d**n thing :P

I get viste sometimes. It annoys the heck out of me, personally. Same with people.

....Paramnesia? As in -par- + -amnesia- ? Seriously?....I beleive that translates literally to "average forgetting", does it not?

Depends what you're translating from. Though I think the Greek translation is to 'near memory', which makes sense I guess.

Hey, this is funny. We spend most of the time acting random and typings with additionals letters AND CAPITALS when we fancy it, and here we are discussing one of the hardest factors in psychology.

We're just that awesome, ain't we? <3

I hate deja vu. its so distracting. Im sitting in class and BAM! deja vu, and i pay no attention to what's being taught.
Its kinda funny: I get deja vu's of deja vu.

The mind is amazing. More memory and processing power than a top-of-the-line computer.
No worry about lag there! lol. Gamers get me, right! lol

AAAUGH!! DEATH LAG!! *slows and dies*...sleep is for the weak. Same as food. Sadly, I have not yet learned how to eliminate food. But I'm almost there! I just need to learn how to survive off of clear spring water and souls- I mean brains- I mean...uh...aw crap...

Leprachauns' are probably the pop-rocks of souls.
Anyways, going back to subject rather than deliciousness of souls, because we're creeping people out...I think.

Do you believe in dreams of preominition? Lately my dreams have been...WELL, horrific. There's a possiblity that the events in them can occur, but it's in...detail.
So I make a little more sense, I'll explain. My brother is in the army, shipped to Afghanistan for six months. So...yeah.

Dreams can and have been described as foretelling etc. but those were exceptional dreams. Most dreams are just your brain going through all the knowledge it has while your asleep. Hence why I was batman fighting frankenstein with a lightsaber.
