It was then that he went to the desperation of becoming the Shade, a spirit named Baduk consumed his body. Baduk seized hold of Haldamir's body, consuming him, igniting Haldamir's old hatred for the Empire but instead turning it to hatred of any who stood in his way. Likes: The small portion of Haldamir that does remain enjoys the power that his body now holds within it, even if he has no control over it. Baduk enjoys his regular massacres of civilians and soldiers alike, he enjoys fighting skilled opponents and relishes in the joy that the challenge brings to him.
Dislikes: The small part of Haldamir that has not yet been consumed dislikes the actions of Baduk, hating himself for bringing such a monster into the world. Not-So-Brief History:
Haldamir was an elf who was born on the edge of Du Weldenvarden in the Elven city of Osilon. His parents were very caring for him, protecting him from almost everything as he grew up. They would never allow him to wander, telling him that if he could see the light glistening off the the Isenstar lake he had ventured too far and was to return home, when the fall of the riders came Haldamir was infuriated, wanting to hunt down and slaughter Galbatorix, as such he took his father's sword - kveykva - and left Du Weldenvarden, however soon after he left the fringe of the forest, he saw the Isenstar lake and it's beauty, seeing it's waters made him calm, causing him to return to his family, ashamed at stealing his father's sword, his father forgave him and handed over his sword to Haldamir, as a gift of him reaching the mature age where he could make smart and wise decisions for himself. Many years followed but Haldamir could not shake the image of the Isenstar lake from his, mind the beauty of the world outside Du Weldenvarden captivated him to no end, as such when he turned 300 he left his home and wished his family goodbye for several years, he had no idea it would be the last time he would ever see them. He walked south then east, eventually he found himself in the Hadarac desert, exploring it he made it to the mountain ranges near the deserts centre. It was in these mountains that he lost his way, running out of provisions quickly, having only brought enough food with him that would keep him alive until he would find civilisation. Eventually, starving, parched and half out of his mind, Haldamir crawled to the top of one of the smallest mountains and began to summon spirits, one powerful spirit came, consuming his body and mind, henceforth Haldamir ceased to exist, he was then the shade Baduk.
Baduk then spent the following 5 months learning his new body, practising what magic he knew threw his years of waiting to be revived and through the knowledge already within Haldamir's mind. He practised his sword fighting skills with his new body, feeling how the weapon felt in his hand and relearning the techniques that he had found in Haldamir's mind, very soon he found himself incredibly accomplished with a blade. Soon after that he began practising magic, finding himself better at summoning items to him, or summoning simplistic creatures to him, his power in dark magic was also another strong point in his learning. Eventually at the end of the 5 month period in the Hadarac desert, Baduk having kept his body alive through sustaining it from the energy of the creatures he could find in the desert, snakes, bugs, lizards, eventually amassed enough energy to try a daring feat of magic that he had been considering for his span in the body. He went to the Burning Plains, finding an immense battle taking place, with two dragons partaking in it, the nature of the field of battle meant that not only had the dragons scorched many of the opposing armies but also the plains themselves had killed some, from the smoke and ash of the burning and dead warriors, Baduk performed his magic, "Anarhí draeima abur Sundablaka éta ater ver regar!" The smoke and ash swirled around his body, flying away from the scene of the battle, forming into a cloud of evil magic that resembled a large, black, eyeless dragon which Baduk flew from the scene of the battle to Urû'baen, the soldiers there attempted to defend themselves from his shadow wyrm, however Baduk protected it from the arrows with simple spells. He did not fight back, restraining his blood lust. He caused his wyrm to hover above the gatehouse, making his voice boom across the whole of Urû'baen, he requested an audience with Galbatorix and when eventually the King did appear, Baduk swung his wyrm forward and down towards Galbatorix, making it dissipate into smoke and ash just before crashing into the streets of Urû'baen, he then walked to the King and out of respect, he bowed. Soon after his audience with Galbatorix, Baduk became his ally, serving by his side. He still maintains however that he saw a hint of fear in the King's eye when Galbatorix saw the Sundablaka. Whether this was just his own imagination, or an actual fact still is unknown for Baduk.
