Full Name: Harek Ornensson(Sorta like Bromsson. I noticed that in the book, they were either given a title, or named after their fathers)
Other name: N/A
Race: Human
Side: Neutral(If possible. You'll see why I'd take a neutral standing in my history)
Birthplace: Therninsford
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Birthday: (Not quite sure how this would work, because the dates in Alegeisia weren't noted too often. Help would be appreciated)
Eyes: Blue
Hair: A Dark Brown, almost black.
Weight: Somewhere along the lines of 180 lbs
Height: 5"9
Magic User: Yes
Preferred Weapon(s): He prefers the use of magic then anything else, but if pressed into normal combat he can just as easily use a dagger or a small sword.
Appearance:
Harek is rather skinny for someone of his age, his body more that of a scholar then a hunter or a warrior. His brown hair is semi-long and is rarely ever kept neat. He has several scars scattered about his arms and legs, some barely noticeable, some crossing almost the entire width of his arm. Around his neck he wears a simple brass necklace with a pure Saphire attached at the end, usually used in storing energy. He wears a simple greyish-brown tunic, dark brown breeches, and crude leather shoes. Around his waist is a belt with two small packs built-in and a dagger hanging at his side. The packs both contain gems similar to the one that he keeps around his neck, though of a less pure quality. At his back he has a much larger pack with several journals of spells he has written himself, books in the ancient language, and a small, emrboidered knife that had once belonged to his father.
Likes: Traveling, assisting others with magic, the ocean, most animals as long as they aren't trying to maul his face off, and dragons.
Dislikes: Both the Varden and the Empire, Elves, crowded cities, bloodshed, evil practicians of Gramayre, and shades
Strengths:
Gifted in magic, fairly intelligent, mental battles, healing wounds
Weakness:
Has a distinct fear of blood, isn't very strong, refuses to wield any weapons larger then a dagger, terrified of Shades, Weak heart, forcing him to draw upon energy from other sources for but the simplest of spells (I.E, the gems he keeps with him)
Family: Ornen, his father (30 years of age before dieing)
No Knowledge of his mother
Not-So-Brief History:
Harek was born in the small village of therninsford at the very edge of the Spine and Palancar Valley. Upon giving birth, his mother died of inexplicable causes, leaving him in the care of his father, Oren. Harek and his father lived in a small, 4-room house at the very edge of town. His father was a poor scholar making very little money in teaching the townspeople to read and other things, such as simple finance, or basic history(Excluding anything to do with the Riders, of course).
When Harek was the age of 10, his father abruptly received a letter that instantly put him into a state of nervous panic. When asked about the contents of the letter, his father grew angry at Harek, yelling at him for no apparent reason. Determined to figure out what had put his father into such a fuss, Harek snuck into his study that night and pulled out the letter in an attempt to read it. Much to his surprise, the document didn't appear to be much of a letter at all. Rather then the runes he was used to, the paper was cluttered with strange, but elegant symbols.
To his dismay, however, his father walked in on him whilest he had the letter in his hand. Rather then growing furious with him, as Harek expected him to, he just sighed and took the letter from him. Storing the letter in his tunic, his father sat down and began to explain the letter and the runes, telling him of the Ancient Language and the fact that he had the power to change things with just a word or two, and that, since he was gifted with magic, there was a chance that Harek was as well. The rest of that night was then spent with an explanation of Gramayre and its fundamentals.
For the next three years, Harek was trained in the ways of magic and taught to read, write, and speak the Ancient Language. It soon became apparent, however, that Harek would be unable to draw upon the energy for complex spells, just after a simple lesson on healing nearly killed him. Casting several spells to try and find the source of the problem, the two of them quickly discover that he had a heart defect, one too complex for either of them to repair. Instead of giving up on his teachings, however, Harek's father bestows upon him 3 saphires, one in the form of a necklace, and teaches him how to store and use the energy from the things around him, something Harek becomes reliant on for the rest of his life.
On the 3rd year of his training, however, a second letter arrived. Upon reading it, his father quickly told Harek to prepare to leave Therninsford, though to where, he would not tell. The night before they set out, however, disaster struck. A shade claiming he was under the service of Galbatorix, came and murdered Harek's father, giving no explanation other then he was convicted of treason.
Though his father dies, Harek managed to escaped, however, and hid in the foothills of the Spine for several days until he reluctantly returned to his home and discovered the bured and mutilated body of his father. Struck with grief, Harek stayed in Therninsford for several days to bury his father and attend his funeral, before finally deciding to leave. Upon making preparations, however, he comes across the letter that his father had been sent only a week before. It was written in the Ancient Language as the earlier letter had been.
It read as such:
Ornen,
It has been several years since we have last had contact with you. We have sent you several warning letters and inquiries before and have finally decided to declare you traitor to the Varden and our organization. If you do not reply within a week, we shall send someone to end you.
-The Wandering Path
Infuriated by what he had heard, Harek quickly condemned both the Varden and the Empire for their treachery against his father and set off into the Spine, where he now lives, traveling throughout the mountains in an attempt to escape contact from either side of the conflict. Using his magic, he survives rather easily, waiting out his days for any sort of excitement.
Anything extra:
I haven't done very many forum rps in my life, in fact, only one other, but I have partaken in many complex roleplays on Websites such as BYOND. I consider myself rather proficient in roleplaying and know all of the basic rules. My grammar is usually fairly good. I've read the first 3 books and am all the way to the beginning of the Seige of Uru'Baen in the 4th one, so I am fairly knowledgeable in them. In fact, the Inheritence cycle is actually my favorite book series. I was going to attempt to go for a rider, but I'm not quite sure how I would do that, or even if I can.
