Full Name: October Rose
Other name: -NA-
Race: Human
Side: Varden
Birthplace: Melian
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Birthday: October 27 aka Late Autumn
Eyes: Pale green, like the underside of a mint leaf
Hair: Deep red with natural golden highlights. Straight as an arrow; falls just past her shoulders when down, although it is almost always swept back in a ponytail. Often keeps a few longer strands hanging in front of her ears or in her face.
Weight: 130 lbs - more from muscle than fat, though she is partial to sweets
Height: 5'4" short and feisty
Magic User: Yes,but she is utterly terrible at it
Preferred Weapon(s): Long bow & arrows - She prefers distance fighting and fires from her dragons back. If necessary, she has a long knife for close combat. Her bow was carved from a willow tree near her childhood home, and has chipped paint covering it from a design her grandmother had painted on.
Appearance: October is on the shorter side of average height. She's got broad shoulders, giving her a slightly more masculine appearance compared to other women of her age. She carries herself in a confident pose.
October prefers dressing in plain, uninteresting clothes. Typically her attire will consist of plain cotton trousers, usually without dye, and a simple coloured cotton shirt. October prefers red or green shirts, as long as they aren't overly fancy. When the weather requires it, October wears a long red cloak. She is protective of her leather boots, which had once belonged to her mother.
October wears no jewelry.
Likes: Flying, all fruit except for bananas, cats, napping in the sunlight, Tarquina, Avalarka, the colour white, simple things.
Dislikes: Fish. October has an unnatural fear of fish. She also dislikes "crybabies", bananas, the colour yellow, complicated plots, and wet boots.
Strengths: October is very agile; she prefers to use speed over raw strength. She is quick witted and can think on her feet. She handles pressure and stressful situations like a boss. One of her greatest strengths is her attention to small detail; she sees things that others often overlook when trying to deal with "the big picture"
Weakness: October really lacks any skill in using magic. She can manage only a few basic spells and wards, which she will typically use on her arrows. She has very little self control when it comes to eating sweets, and puts on the extra weight very easily. She has a bit of a temper and gets frustrated very quickly when other people tell her what to do or that she's doing something wrong. She also tends to be rather lazy.
Family: Allyssa Rose (Mother, deceased)
Myrtle Rose (Grandmother)
Garron Rose (Grandfather) (deceased)
Tarquin (Guardian/Pet/Companion)
Not-So-Brief History: October was born late Autumn, to a young mother. She was the result of a drunken night, and her mother never could remember who the father was. Allyssa Rose was an only child who still lived with her parents. Unfortunately, four years after October's birth, Allyssa passed away from a coughing illness that had taken her by surprise.
October was raised by her grandparents. It was a simple life, although not always comfortable. Her grandmother brought in money by knitting clothing, and her grandfather toiled away in a janitorial job in the local butcher shop. It wasn't glorious, but it brought in enough money to put food on their table.
October was never given a formal education. Her grandparents taught her what they could, but as a young woman, October was expected to marry and produce children. Instead, October wanted to do something more useful for the entire community. She wanted to join some of the young men in hunting, though everyone laughed at her. She followed them in secret one night.
That was when October met Tarquin. While she was following the men on their hunting path, she stumbled across a wounded cat laying at the bottom of a tree. Assuming it was just a cat, October checked it over and discovered the creatures source of pain was a broken leg. She took the kitty home and placed a simple cloth and stick brace on the leg, and nursed it back to health.
The cat was a Werecat, who went by the name of Tarquin. Once she was healed, she revealed this to October. "There is something important in your fate," Tarquin told her, after October had stopped freaking out when her pet cat turned into a small humanoid child. "I don't know what it is, but I like you. I will stay with you, to see how this plays out."
A few years passed, and October's grandfather grew ill. Unable to deal with the death of another family member, October made what was both the best and worst decision of her life - she left home. The worst decision, because she would not be there to help support her Grandmother, but the best decision because it would lead her to the fate that Tarquin had once spoken of. She had almost mastered the art of archery, and she set off to find new ways to train. Originally, October wanted to join the army of the Empire as an archer - she had heard talk of war between a rebel group and the Empire, and wanted to help.
In her travels, she heard many things. The Empire was corrupt, the Varden was fighting for freedom, the Varden was nothing but thieves and the Empire would lead everyone to victory. October chose to be neutral until she came upon a battle in a village. The Empire army cared nothing for the village they were defending - some of the warriors were trying to kill the civilians as well as their opponents. October chose that moment to make a decision - she wanted nothing to do with an army that would kill innocent bystanders on purpose. From a distance she helped the Varden take out their enemies, and when it was over, she requested to join them.
They accepted her into their ranks, and October felt truly accomplished for the first time in her life. Tarquin stuck close to her side at all times, but revealed to no one what she was.
It was completely by fate that October discovered what her destiny would be. She had been walking by the tent where the discovered dragon eggs were being kept. She had seen the other Riders that were amongst the Varden's ranks - but she hadn't expected there to be any eggs. She politely asked the guardians of the eggs if she could touch one, just to see what it felt like.
The white egg called to her, and it was only moments after she had brushed her fingers across the impossibly smooth shell that the sound of tapping could be heard. The white egg hatched for her; October Rose, the simple village girl turned Varden warrior, would forever have her destiny altered from one brief touch of an egg.

Dragon Bio
Name: Avalarka
Age: Just under one year
Physical description: Avalarka is a small dragon whose looks can be summed up in one word: elegant. Her limbs are long and graceful. Her scales are reminiscent of freshly fallen snow; pure pearly white and slightly reflective. Her wings are long and narrow, built for speedy flight.
Her horns are slightly more silver in colour than her scales, and curl back from her head. She has three small spikes along her jaw on either side, and the almost symbolic row of sharp spikes that follow the contour of her spine. The scales on her underbelly take on the same silvery tint that her horns do, making them stand out from the stark whiteness of the rest of her body.
Unlike most dragons whose eye colour matches their scales, Avalarka has deep pinkish-red eyes that are a stark contrast against her snow white face.
Where they hatched: Varden Egg, hatched in the wild
Personality: Avalarka is very calm and quiet. She prefers to listen rather than talk. When she does speak, it is usually something worth listening to. Of course, this doesn't mean that she is without her quirks.
Avalarka tends to pick up on October's temper; when October is in a bad mood, Avalarka can be pretty snappy as well. Whenever October's safety comes into play, Avalarka really shows her fangs. She would do anything for her Rider's safety, even if it involved getting dirt or blood on her beautiful pristine scales. She is quite vain; considerably more so than October could ever be. Avalarka usually spends at least an hour every morning grooming, and another hour grooming herself before she rests for the night.
She greatly enjoys sarcasm; she won't show this side to anyone but those she considers a very dear friend. This is typically limited to October and Tarquin. Avalarka and the werecat go out of their way to try to make the other one angry, but it is usually all in good fun.
Avalarka really is more of a lover than a fighter; she will fight for the Varden, but she feels bad for killing and just wishes for the fighting to be over.
