((applying for a Varden egg))
((I edited the history a bit to make it flow better.))
Full Name: Aldric Elsterson
Other name(s): N/A
Race: Human
Side: Varden
Birthplace: Dras-Leona
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Birthday: October 19th
Eyes: Dark green
Hair: Light brown, he lets it grow out quite a bitbecause he's lazy and it's not extremely curly so it often gets in his face.
Weight: 164 lbs.
Height: 5'8''
Magic User: Yes (but he doesn't know it yet)
Preferred Weapon(s): The only thing he's ever fought with was... His fists! Of course that was until he recently joined the Varden. They issued him a standard sword and shield. It's a bit awkward for him and he did actually prefer to fight bare handed, though he knows that's suicide in a proper battle.
Appearance: His skin is slightly tanned because of the time he's spent on the docks and on the water, which also made him a little more muscular since he was working so hard for a good portion of his life. His face/presence isn't hard or menacing, though, he looks almost whimsical, which fits his personality.
Personality:
[Impatient] He can't seem to find time to stop. Things need to keep happening, and he doesn't like it when nothing is happening. He can't sit still, literally, he has to stand up if he's been sitting down for more then ten minutes. When it seems like he's not making progress then he can get quite frustrated.
[willingness] He is willing to fight, he's had more then a few scraps. He is willing to go on ahead even when it seems risky or hopeless. He is also willing to push past his fears, thought he may need a little motivation depending on his mood.
[approachable] Despite his temper he is approachable, he loves talking with people, well people that he agrees with that is. He wouldn't enjoy talking to someone like Galbatorix for example. He usually tries his best to get along with his allies though.
[observant] He is very watchful, usually taking small occurrences into consideration until he can fully understand them. This helps him in battle as well, if something is off kilter he can often adjust as needed and guess how his opponent will react. This has been very useful with wielding a sword and shield.
[scared] Although he has caused and participated in his fair share of fights, he is actually scared of large scale battles. Battles where he has a good chance to die or be seriously injured. He is scared of being overwhelmed and beaten down or stabbed. This is more of a subconscious fear though, and he'd never admit that he's scared.
As an added note on his personality, he doesn't like moping around about his past or something bad that happens, he finds it to depressing. So instead he looks towards the future, believing that he can make things better for himself by pressing on.
Likes: The ocean, sunny days, the smell of rain, he likes creatures that fly because he simply enjoys the thought of flying, good stories, dogs, and talking with people.
Dislikes: Cats, people who think they know everything or think they know best for him, being alone, and fog which mostly came from his time on the docks and on ships.
Strengths: Adaptable, gets things done, works well with others, is good in a fight, of course that depends on the other person as well, but generally he is good at calculating his opponent.
Weakness: Arrogant as a result of his impatience, rebellious in nature, impatient as stated above, can be unfocused at times, and he is inexperienced with a sword
Family: A younger brother named Harrock, his current location is unknown to Aldric seeing as how he was adopted off a long time ago. Read the history for more info.
Not-So-Brief History:
He was born in the dreary city of Dras-Leona. As a child he adored the Empire, his father was a soldier sworn to fight for Galbatorix. Aldric always imagined that he would one day fight in the army as well, against the Varden. As a child he was also very hypre, and adventurous, often exploring further into the city and even beyond that. He did get into trouble with his parents of course, but he managed to keep his rebellious spirit and would often drag his little brother and friends along for the ride. They all were fond of the empire like Aldric and they would often play soldier together.
As he got older his mother became terribly ill, his father became increasingly weary of the situation, and always seemed to be upset about something. Aldric was scared, though he could never imagine anything would happen to his parents. He would assure his younger brother that their mother would get better with time. His mother managed through her sickness, though she was left very weak and rarely ever left the house after that. Even though his mother was safe for the moment everything changed when he learned that his father had died in battle.
At the young age of seven Aldric, his brother Harrock, and his mother Kirsten set off for Feinster. His mother was very weak and she decided it would be best if they moved to the port city, which was the last place her father was living at. She explained to him that it would be better if their grandfather could help take care of them. Even at Aldric's young age he could tell that she was different. She had barely managed to fight off a disease and then the loss of their father. That point of his life was his lowest, he only felt fear and sorrow, every other emotion was hollow. The journey to Feinster was agonizing, they had brought a pack mule with them to carry a few belongings, but as they continued his mother had to support herself on the mule while she walked.
It was late at night when they finally saw the lights of Feinster glittering in the distance. He was barely awake when they walked up to the gate, his little brother was sitting on the mule and he was walking, more like stumbling actually, by the side of it. The relief of ending the journey was short lived though, Aldric's mother fainted once they were outside her father's house. It didn't matter though as it turned out his grandfather had moved to Aroughs.
Everything happened very fast after that; he was in a daze from the journey. Healers took his mother away after people had found them, then the soldiers took him and his brother to a building with other children in it. At first he was upset, he had no idea why he had been taken away from his mother and continuously asked the caretakers. They tried their best to explain it softly to him, but there was no hiding that his mother had died of illness and that he was going to stay in the orphanage until he was adopted by a new family. It felt like a nightmare and it didn't start to sink in until the next morning.
He wasn't sure what to think of it, he had trouble keeping himself encouraged, let alone encourage his brother and tell him that it would all work out for the better. Unlike normal he didn't feel like rebelling and running away, there was nothing out in the world for him. So he did decide to stay in Feinster, but he often snuck out of the orphanage and would roam the city. His favorite place to be were the docks, the thought of sailing out into the expanse of blue appealed to him.
He grew older, his younger brother was adopted away, though Aldric fought the caretakers and the new family for his brother. Of course there wasn't much he could do since he was so small. Every time he made a friend they would be adopted away eventually. For a while it seemed that everyone was leaving, except him. He felt bad, as if everyone thought he wasn't good enough for them. He stayed in the orphanage until he was completely sure that he would never be adopted off. When he came to terms with that he stopped hanging around the orphanage so much, and actually managed to get a job at the docks.
The men at the docks had fiery tempers, and he got into more then his fair share of fights. More then often he was beaten senseless, though every time he lost he would adjust his fighting style based on the person and the mistakes he made last time. Soon he was very able in a fist fight. He learned fast on the docks, and he worked like he had never worked before. It hardened him, not just physically, but mentally as well.
On the docks he made friends with an old story teller named Jeran. He told Aldric many tales of old, most of which were of the dragon riders. Aldric was fascinated by their description, and was surprised when he was told of their fall and that Galbatorix had betrayed them. It felt like he had been slapped in the face, he hadn't ever learned the history of Aleagasia before and to know of the evils that the emperor had committed was shocking. There was no way he could ever look at an Empire soldier in hatred, but he could easily imagine himself fighting against Galbatorix. He was fifteen when he decided to seek out the Varden. From the information he gathered at the docks it sounded like they had moved to Surda so he stocked up food and set out on a journey to find the elusive rebellion.
His journey was long and tiresome, although he never seemed to have any trouble with groups of Empire soldiers. After a long while he reached the Surdan city of Dauth, he was met by a group of city guards. It took some doing but eventually they let him join the Varden, and they searched his mind, which was one of the oddest experiences he's ever experienced. Because of his age and inexperience they gave him the duty of courier between the Varden camp and the cities in Surda. He spent the rest of his time doing that, never fighting in any of the battles like he had hoped. Though with the Varden's numbers beginning to dwindle that may change very soon.
Dragon Bio
Name: Mink
Physical description: She is a dark red, sort of a maroon color. Although her scales slowly fade into white on her under belly, being completely white on the very center of her chest, stomach, under neck, ect. Her horns, spikes, claws are coal black, though her fangs are a dazzling white. Her eyes are bright orange and yellow, like the sparks of a fire. She has a lean build, her tail is long and her neck is a bit shorter then other dragons. Her narrow head almost resembles a mink, hence her name.
Personality:
[kind] She is very kind, maybe to kind for her own good. She'll often sympathize with anyone and everyone, and would never suspect anyone she or Aldirc knows to be their enemy. That's probably why it's even more heart breaking for her when some one betrays her or her rider.
[shy] She rarely talks with anyone else, not out of snobbery but simply because she wouldn't know what to say so she's scared of embarrassing herself. As a result she doesn't like hanging in big crowds or cities.
[courageous] During battle though she is very brave, braver even then Aldric. She feels an overwhelming sense of duty to the Varden and will stop at nothing to see Galbatorix fall. Even when things seem dire she will continue to motivate and fight.
[patient] Unlike her rider, she has a very high amount patience. She finds that it comes naturally, although it is suspect that she has to have a high patience, living with Aldric and all. She is also not very quick to anger, which is odd for a dragon, it takes quite a bit, but when she is mad she will explode with rage.
[perfectionist] She often struggles with seeing things on a bigger picture. Little strategic moves look like they're pointless until she really starts to think about why they're doing them and how they'll affect the other army. She also feels the need to do things until they are completely done, like raiding a city, there's no half way done. This is also true for little things like she she eats she tries to get as much meat off of a carcass, or eat just the right amount. It can be very aggravating for Aldric at times.
Strengths: Brave, patient, merciful, and a fast learner.
Weaknesses: Trouble with talking to others, although she usually lets Aldric take care that for her. Perfectionist, overly sympathetic at times, and it can take her a while to recover from defeat.
Was their egg stolen or given to the character by the Varden/Empire or found in the wild?: A Varden eggy.

Aldric flinched a little when the blade was thrust at his face and his heart picked up another two beats. Cicymyst didn't trust him, which was made clear when he spoke again. That was probably a smart thing, he and Cicymyst were not to different, although it was obvious that Cicymyst had had much more training then himself. I could let him probe my mind like how the Varden did when I joined. The thought made him shiver, but it was the only way to get him to trust Aldric. Before he could suggest it though Cicymyst seemed to be a step ahead of him.
The shock of an alien mind entered his consciousness, forcing it's way through to his mind. It felt like a pressure was on his head, and he felt his knees shake a little from the sudden attack. He had heard that when that happened you were suppose to concentrate on one thing, but instead he let Cicymyst into his mind. Again he felt that terrible sensation of someone prying at his thoughts and learning every aspect of him. He felt that his privacy had been violated in a way.
Everything around him slowly refocused in his vision and he felt Cicymyst slowly begin to leave his mind. He knew that Cicymyst hadn't wanted to hurt him, only to see if he was a spy or not. At least now Cicymyst could vouche for him when he said he wasn't a rebel spy. The whole experience left him with a bad taste in his mouth and he remembered why he didn't like magic so much.
He spat on the ground then looked back over to the group. Amanes seemed to be calm about all of what had just happened, probably just her nature to be peaceful. He nodded his head towards her and mumbled, "Well met, Amanes..." His voice was weaker then he had anticipated. He tried regaining some of his prowess and tilted his head back slightly as he spoke, "I found the Varden on a nice day like this actually, I had set out from Feinster, the town of my childhood, and came upon Dauth. They reacted violently, but I managed to get myself into the Varden by letting them search my mind." He couldn't help but shiver slightly at the now fresh memory. He didn't feel the need to explain how he had worked at the docks for most of his life, nor did he want to tell about the orphanage, or how he had a brother and loads of friends, but he had no idea where they were, if they were fighting with the Empire, or if they were even still alive. He put a smile on in spite of it, such things did not need to be dwelled upon. Life will go on for him.
He glanced back quickly, wondering if it would be better for him to join in the battle once more.
