They reached the stables, being lead by Amerylis, and stood in the darkness. The pungent smell of horse manure filled the air. Cirtolthiel was just about to ask Amerylis what in the world they were doing here when she began to speak, catching Cirtolthiel offhanded.
"Listen, Cirtolthiel. I wanted to say sorry about how I acted earlier. I came off as a... well I wasn't the nicest person. <I'm sorry. I really am,>" she apologzied glumly. Cirtolthiel blinked. Oh, she was talking about the whole staff thing. It had taken her a moment to remember that. And that proves how much I need sleep, she thought, before taking a breath to speak to Amerylis.
"<It's okay. Apology accepted,>" she said firmly, then added a kind smile afterwards. She was quite shocked that Amerylis had decided to apologize for her behavior; to be honest, Cirtolthiel always thought she had too much pride to lower herself to that. Perhaps she's not as headstrong as I thought... An awkward silence followed Cirtolthiel's acception of the apology. She ran a hand through her hair, then remembered it was still brown. Quickly murmuring a few words, she returned it to its snowy-silver hue.
Cirtolthiel was startled when Arabelle suddenly burst out. "Other than to tie up your horse, why are we going to the stables? I mean it is something you can do on your own. You don't need us there with you right so, what do you need?" Arabelle inquired Amerylis. She even looked somewhat astonished at her own explosion of questions. Before Amerylis could answer, though, she added, "Not that I'm angry or anything. Its actually probably a good thing that I can talk to you both and stuff but..." Arabelle looked quite sheepish for even talking. Cirtolthiel gazed at her, amused. It was the sort of thing she would have done.
Looking back to Amerylis, she thought Arabelle had a good point. What were doing out here? Apologizing to Cirtolthiel couldn't have been the only thing, since Arabelle had been invited along. A horse nickered softly behind them, and Arabelle and Cirtolthiel waited for Amerylis' answer.
