Nothing else was said after he mentioned his mother, but Gildor hardly minded the silence. He'd rather not bring her up in conversation again if he could help it. She was an interesting topic, but a delicate one.
Amerylis soon returned with, to his surprise, free fruit. "I believe this makes up for this morning," she told him as she touched his hand and placed a couple of fat pomegranates in his palm. "Don't know how they have them in. They aren't really from around here."
"What are going on about?" he asked with a single brow raised, wondering what she meant by her first statement. How did this 'make up for this morning?' It wasn't like he was incapable of purchasing his own supplies and food. And of course pomegranates were from around Surda - they were desert fruit! She must have been fairly new to the area to assume they weren't.
However, before he could correct her, she went off to apologize to Cirtothiel for whatever reason. In the meantime, he busied himself with hauling his packed satchel over his shoulder, and brushing the dust off the bottom of it. He almost didn't notice Amerylis speaking to him again.
"Hm?" was his first response when she asked what she missed. "Oh, oh, just small talk," he then answered hastily, and went back to adjusting his satchel's single leather strap.
"It seems you have made my brother uncomfortable," Amerylis stated shortly after he had gotten his bag fitted on his shoulder comfortably. He took little notice of her congratulations for the feat.
"Did I now?" he asked, sounding a bit surprised. "Sorry 'bout that, lad," he then apologized, sounding less than sorry. He was more anxious to move on than anything else at the moment.
"So. Can we finally get out of here?"
"Yes please," Gildor said eagerly, "The sooner we find this bloody dragon egg, the sooner I get my reputation back and my paycheck back and my-"
It seemed Kaala was even more ready to leave than he was, for she interrupted the beginning of his little rant. She had been so quiet, he almost forgot she was there. She mentioned something about getting a horse for herself, and discreetly and indifferently asked whether or not their search party had grown. It didn't matter to Gildor. If they were all going to travel on horseback, he would lose them soon enough and be on his own again... or so he secretly hoped.

Farid watched as suddenly the campsite came to life. His sister had busied herself with picking up the things used for cooking and put them away. He certainly wasn't going to allow her to get away from him this quickly. After all, he had years of embarrassment to catch up on.
Farid smirked, finding a perfect way to get back at his sister. He threw his arm around her without problem, she was considerably smaller than him. "Well I would love to come with you Amer. Thanks for asking." He said with a wink. He pulled her by the hand towards the street. "Let's go. Get a move on." He said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Amerylis picked up her things and began putting them away hastily. She put her bags onto Arsen and turned to get her traveling backpack when her brother grabbed her arm and began to pull her, ushering her to the street. "What your not going. And lemme go!" She said yanking her arm from his grasp. He quickly began to into a rant about how they never saw each other and how this was their last opportunity to for a long while.
She returned to her horse and threw her leg over him. ""Fine. If it's okay with everyone else. You may go. But he'll only slow us down if we refuse." She groaned. "And I for one want to get going." She said tapping her horse on the flanks. He jerked into movement, spinning in a circle anxiously.
Farid rolled his eye. "I won't slow you down. You've always been the slow one if I remember correctly." He said with a smile. "Now that it's settled let's get going."

Cirtolthiel looked up when Kaala made her comment about just the three of them going. Gildor seemed to be okay with Farid and Cirtolthiel as an addition, and Amerylis just seemed reluctant. Cirtolthiel bit her lip, thinking. She stood up, bringing attention to herself.
"If you three don't want me to come," she began, "then simply tell me to go. This isn't my little parade, so it's your decision if you want me here or not. I understand, I probably will slow you down."
She picked up her bag, giving each of them a steady gaze. "Honestly, I'm just going to Du Weldenvarden, and from what I can tell you all are going as well. I thought it would be easier if we traveled as a group, but if you don't want me here, fine."
She took a step, but hesitated. She suddenly remembered she didn't have a horse, or any means of transportation but her own two feet. Guess I'll just have to get around like I used to, she shrugged. She watched the other mount on their horses, except Gildor. And she noticed Kaala didn't mount her dragon. Cirtolthiel paused to wait for their response.

Great. It seemed they were all coming along. Farid, being a typical annoying sibling, openly invited himself on his sister's behalf and anxiously grabbed his things. Although Cirtolthiel was being a little more polite about them coming, there was no doubt in his mind that she would end up traveling with them as well. What started out as one man's punishment mission and journey for redemption was quickly turning into a bandwagon of all sorts of characters.
"There's no need to feel unwelcome, love," Gildor told Cirtolthiel as gently as he could, for she struck him as someone with low self-confidence. The way she worded what she wanted to say seemed so careful, even for an elf. "We aren't necessarily going to Du Weldenvarden. We aren't necessarily going anywhere, actually, but I suppose we can start by heading... uhm..." he paused and tapped his staff on the ground twice,"...in a general that way direction." He twirled a long index finger uncertainly before settling on North, towards Petrovya. It would probably be some time before they would develop a more solid heading based on clues as to where the egg might be.
"Besides," he suddenly added with a softer smile in her direction, "It'd certainly be nice to have someone who's not going on dragon or horseback to walk with."

"There's no need to feel unwelcome, love," Gildor said to Cirtolthiel as they were all getting set. Cirtolthiel rolled her eyes, half-annoyed. He was charming, but she definitely wasn't falling for it. "We aren't necessarily going to Du Weldenvarden. We aren't necessarily going anywhere, actually, but I suppose we can start by heading... uhm..." he paused and tapped his staff on the ground twice,"...in a general that way direction." He pointed to the North, or Northwest...who knew. Cirtolthiel raised her eyebrows.
"Besides," he suddenly added with a softer smile in her direction, "It'd certainly be nice to have someone who's not going on dragon or horseback to walk with." Cirtolthiel shrugged.
"I suppose." She was still waiting for anyone else's answer to her...'speech', but no one seemed to bother. Cirtolthiel brushed away the worrying. She might as well join them. Maybe split off after a little while. She was walking, so she wouldn't have to worry about returning a borrowed horse. Cirtolthiel was definitely starting to get anxious about leaving Surda now.
"Alright then," she said, and without further ado she strode off ahead, but not leading everyone else. She felt a little pang of guilt for leaving Gildor behind on such a cold note. But who was he to her? No one, really.
After a few more strides, Cirtolthiel felt disgusted with herself. Who do you think you are, some hierarchy who can treat everyone like dirt? she thought angrily. You should be happy these people are even accepting you to travel with them! Her conceitedness made her sick.

"Besides. It'd certainly be nice to have someone who's not going on dragon or horseback to walk with."
Farid looked up and smirked, this was his chance to save Cirtolthiel AND stop Gildor from making any more comments like that for a while. He threw an arm around Gildor's neck and laughed. "Well now, have you forgotten about me already, eh Gildork? I think well be thick as theives." He said nudging him in the ribs lightly. "But as of now... that will have to wait. I have a maiden to accompany." He said, pulling his arm away from Gildor. "Better luck next time." He said, before running after Cirtoltheil.
Amerylis grinned at Farid's quick thinking. Sorry about him, and for anything else he may do in these next few weeks... She said apologeticly, voicing it to Gildor and Kaala. She tapped Arsen on the flanks and continued on, waiting a few seconds for her companions at the corner of the tavern.
Farid caught up to Cirtolthiel and wrapped an arm around her waist, then jerked it back quickly feeling the heat rise to his face. "O-oh s-sorry. It was an inpulse.. I didn't mean to..." He mumbled, crossing his arms across his chest.

Despite his small efforts to make her feel more comfortable, Cirtothiel gave him a couple of short, to-the-point answers before briskly heading off with the others. After she walked past, Gildor allowed himself a hurt little pout before following about three steps behind. He rather liked the quiet type. The chase was always more difficult, but that's what made it interest-
Gildor suddenly stopped in his tracks, staring eyes wide as he was startled by Farid's unexpected reappearance. He had been focusing his magic vibrations on where the group ahead of him was going. Farid caught him off-guard when he came up from behind and grabbed the back his neck in the crook of his elbow and let out a loud laugh beside his ear.
"Well now, have you forgotten me already Gildork?"
"Excuse me?" He hadn't heard that one since childhood. Just how old was this halfling?
"I think we'll be thick as thieves."
The only thick thing Gildor could think of in their future was possibly a stone wall. A tall one, too. It would keep them from elbowing each other in the sides anymore.
"But as for now... that will have to wait," Farid added dramatically and pulled his arm away. "I have a maiden to accompany. Better luck next time." With that, he ran after Cirtothiel with the same kind of clumsy stride a love-struck puppy would have ran with. Gildor glowered sourly at nothing and began searching the ground with his staff again, following behind them. He was more upset about the 'Gildork' comment than anything else the boy said. Stupid name-calling, no matter how immature, was not going to help him build back his broken reputation.
"Sorry about him, and for anything else he may do in these next few weeks..." Amerylis apologized as she rode past. If she had to say sorry for her brother's actions already, Gildor hardly wanted to imagine what traveling long distance with him was going to be like. He liked Cirtothiel's company so far, despite her sudden bout of harshness, but Farid... Well, he was having second thoughts about him coming along a little too late. At the very least, it seemed the boy was entertainingly dense...
"O-oh s-sorry," he was suddenly saying to Cirtothiel, "It was an impulse... I didn't mean to..."
Although he wasn't sure of what just happened between the two, it didn't take eyes to see Farid had done something stupid. He seriously needed some lessons in respecting the personal space of others, and he seemed to be paying for his mistake in embarrassment. Gildor had to stifle a chuckle when he felt the ground jitter faintly from Farid's accelerating heartbeat. His little mistake wasn't enough to cheer Gildor up, but it was a small start.

Cirtolthiel heard a little pout from Gildor right after she had left. Guilt struck her even more. No use apologizing now. He's a big boy, he'll be fine, Cirtolthiel reminded herself. She suddenly heard Farid pounce to Gildor and make a few remarks - Cirtolthiel glanced over her shoulder curiously - and even called him Gildork. Cirtolthiel hardly stiffled her snickering, though she kept pace with the rest of the group.
".. that will have to wait. I have a maiden to accompany. Better luck next time," Cirtolthiel heard Farid say cheerfully. She heard his footsteps become louder - for a second Cirtolthiel found it amusing how much she was paying attention - and Farid appeared at her side.
But before Cirtolthiel could even utter a greeting, he slipped his arm around her waist. Cirtolthiel was so surprised, she could only stare at him. What on earth? This kid was moody and depressed seconds ago, and now here he is, Mr. Smooth and Confident! Cirtolthiel thought. Farid unwrapped himself, though, looking just as stricken as she was. But it wasn't like she was mad at his action, just shocked at his instantly renewed self-confidence. In fact, she had actually...liked his arm being there. It was bit late now, since it had left her side now.
"O-oh s-sorry. It was an inpulse.. I didn't mean to..." he mumbled, is cheeks turning to a rosy pink while he crossed his arms and looked away. Cirtolthiel smiled. He reminded her of a little kid.
"It's quite alright," she said softly, then reached for his crossed arm. Her hand closed gently around his, giving him one more reassuring smile.

Amerylis looked down at Gildor from on top of Arsen. He looked defeated. It was bad enough that he was blamed for the death of a rider but now, her own brother was hastling him, and she was smiling because of it. She twisted in the saddle then dropped to her feet without further hesitation. She caught up with him, pulling Arsen by the reins behind her.
She tapped him on the shoulder to let him know she was there, though she was sure he knew. She fiddled with her thumbs awkwardly. Listen.. I know my brother is a pain and I’m sorry. I give you all permission to harm him… or just call him whatever you see fit. He only feels threatened by you. And for good reason. You have everything he doesn’t… age, wisdom, and , she thought for a second then smiled, at her feeble attempt to boost his confidence. and your striking good looks. She said grinning from ear to ear. So cheer up. I’ll keep him in check for you… She said putting a gentle hand on his shoulder for reassurance.

Although he sensed Amerylis dismounting her horse and walking up behind him, it was the light tap on his shoulder that caught Gildor's attention. "Yes?" he inquired and lifted his head slightly to let her know he was listening, but he didn't stop walking. After how much time they spent dallying all night and all morning, they couldn't afford to procrastinate for another minute. However, he almost stopped when he suddenly felt her consciousness brush against his. That sort of thing always caught him by surprise. Listen, she said, her words echoing faintly through his dark mind, I know my brother is a pain and I'm sorry. I give you all permission to harm him...I'm not really one for harming, he responded with, though added quickly, When I'm sober....Or just call him whatever you see fit, she continued. He only feels threatened by you, and for good reason. You have everything he doesn't... age, wisdom, and... and you're striking good looks. He could feel her smiling at him. The feeling helped more than her compliments did. So cheer up, she concluded, and placed a hand on his shoulder encouragingly. I'll keep him in check for you.He didn't respond immediately. After a few paces he finally said a polite, Thank you, hesitated, then continued with, Though I think I'll be able to handle him myself. Clearly he preferred to be independent in every aspect of his life. ...Little did he know he would be eating those words on a silver platter in the weeks to come... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------End thread. RP continued here.

I think it would be better just to fastforward things. Perhaps move to Du Weldenvarden.

Okay, well let's get to it sometime soon?
Doesn't matter to me where we go. I just know that when we get to the Hadarac Desert, Cirt's going to have a nasty little accident. >.>
