Pike knocked on the door of Raylborn's office. "Come in," came Raylborn's voice. Pike gripped the door and opened it, entering the office. He looked around quickly; he was the first to show up. Raylborn motioned his hand towards a seat.
"Arya told me you asked to see me," Pike said, taking a seat. Raylborn nodded.
"We'll speak of that when the others show up." Pike nodded and said nothing more.

Lira walked towards Lord Raylborn's office apprehensively. Wondering what the leader of the Varden had to say. Especially after what had haooened at teh feast last night(?) Eri walked beside her. Looking up at her face. Seeing the emotions skitter accross it.
Lira, why so worried?
Because. He's the Lord of the Varden. And my Fate basically rests in his hands.
True. But it also rests in your own Lira.
What?
You'll understand. When you open your mind
Lira looked at Eri strangely and opened her mouth to ask him more but they had reached the intricatly carved, solid oak door that led to Lord raylborn's office. She sighed, making a mental note to ask him more later. He seemed to know more about Lira than she herself did. And she was herself. Then she lifted her hand and knocked on the door.

Draith landed in the moist grass outside of the castle. "That was a fast flight. I think your speed is improving." Jex said praising the red dragon. Well I've been practicing, I'm glad something improved.
The duo walked into the castle. Quickly they made their way through corrdors.
"What do you think this meeting is for?" Jex asked. They hadn't gone to Raylborn's office for some time. I expect it to be about leaving we should have probably done that awhile ago.
Jex nodded letting Draith know he concured on the idea. "Well I guess we'll find out right now."
They were turning to the hall that Raylborn's office was in. There at the door was another varden rider and dragon, Lira and Eri. "So you've just got news of the meeting too?" Jex asked walking up with a smile.

Niniel had been informed by Arya earlier that there was to be a meeting in Lord Raylborn's office and that she was to attend it as well. She assumed that it had something to do with them heading for Ellesmera soon, what other possible reason could there be for her to go to a riders meeting.
She walked through the corridors towards Raylborn's office silently, and smirked a little when she spotted two of the young riders standing outside his door. She walked up to them quietly and said, "What are we doing standing around outside the office? I thought the meeting was to take place inside," she laughed a little bit and then moved past them, knocked once and then opened the door to the office and walked inside.
Pike was already sitting in front of Raylborn's desk, and there was the Lord himself at the desk, looking somewhat somber. She was sure this meant they would be leaving for Ellesmera soon. She took a place near one of the walls behind where the riders would be. They were the ones who Raylborn would really be addressing, not her, so she would not get in the way.

Lira turned at te sound of Jex's voice, returned the smile and replied "Yes. I did" She stood infront of the door for a while until the elf, Niniel, came up and asked them why they were all waiting around outside the office and opened the door. She followed the elf and Jex inside, Eri trotting behind her. She looked around inside the room, taking in the surroundings. She had only been in here once. She saw that Pike was already sitting in a chair infront of lord Raylborn's desk and at the desk, was Lord Raylborn. Lira sat in one of the empty chairs in front of the large desk and waited silently for the leader of the Varden to begin speaking.

Pike turned his head, glancing over at the others that walked in. He nodded, smiling slightly, and then turned back to Raylborn. Raylborn looked upset and darker then usual, Pike with the same look. Raylborn slid a piece of paper across his desk and then looked at Pike at the others.
"Please read this, Pike," Raylborn said, leaning back against his chair. Pike took the paper in hand and cleared his throat.
"News from the Spine. Recent activity from the Therinsford brought our attention to a group of travelers. Three travelers, mostly unarmed by the looks of it, and thingyy at that. They traveled alone, each in horses and unprotected. Because a caravan, or even regular travelers, would use a wagon rather then single, war steeds, we followed as closely as possible. They later met up with a well known Empire solider by the name of Nihael. It can be now confirmed that he is, indeed, a rider. They left this afternoon, three days before you shall receive this letter, and entered the Spine." Pike finished reading and rolled it back up. "And there is the marking of the Varden."
Raylborn gave a sigh, placing a hand over his eyes. "It is as you had feared, Pike. The Empire is attacking Narda."
Pike nodded in agreement. He looked to the others and explained. "Word from the birds that fly in this direction for the season claim their homes were interrupted by people in the Spine, as well as a large, powerful dragon."
As well as a Shade and... the twins... Forest added, growling when he mentioned the twins. He stood outside the building but still listened closely with the help of Pike.
"Eragon and Arya are preoccupied with news of other possible riders, and it would take much too long for our soliders to ride to and through, without getting lost, the Spine. We need fliers, and I am afraid to ask, but we must request that you four fly down to attend to Narda's needs."
"Five of them, including Nihael's dragon, and seven of us, including our dragons..." Pike whispered, mainly to himself. "Even outnumbering them, I don't know how well we can do against them."
Raylborn nodded, taking the parchment in hand once more. "I will send in troops to enter Narda as soon as possible, and Eragon as well when he's finished with his current mission. Pike can act as a guide, and I ask that you, Niniel, train the riders as best as you can in the air."

Niniel listened with a straight face as Pike read off the letter that Raylborn had received. So they weren't going to Ellesmera afterall, that was interesting news. But the fact that Lord Raylborn wanted her to train the new riders was what shocked her the most. She had never trained people in using the ancient language for anything, much less defending their lives against attackers such as those who they would be facing eventually. She thought to herself for a moment, considering turning Raylborn down. She knew that if there was a mistake in the riders training, she would be to blame; and a mistake could potentially mean that the riders would be killed, and in turn, the Varden destroyed. But who else would train the riders on this journey to the Spine? No one else could, she knew she was their only option.
She stayed quiet a moment longer and then took a deep breath and stepped away from the wall, "I will do as you ask, Lord Raylborn." she said firmly.
She knew that she would have to do a small amount of reading to find out exactly how the process of training a rider had been done in the past so that she could train these riders the right way, or at least start their training in the right way. She fiddled with a dagger at her hip and waited to see if anything else would be said.

Shock filled Jex. So no Du Weldenvarden after all. He looked over at Niniel. She would be the one to train him in the ancient language and magic.
Sounds like we have a tough task ahead of us. Draith said listening to the conversation from the door. Yes doesn’t it sound fun! Jex tried to seem happy and excited and he was but his fear was much stronger and he could not hide it from Draith.
My young rider, do not be afraid. We have each other and that will be enough to keep us safe. Jex nodded letting his dragon comfort him although he still didn’t feel completely safe.
He still wondered how skilled the Empire riders were with the blade. Jex felt this needed to be addressed. “Sir don’t you think we still need training with the blade?” Jex looked down as he asked.

( I'm not too late am I? ^^' )
Keri walked down the corridor looking around with a slightly irritated expression. '' It's easier to navigate around Du Weldenvardens forest '' she thought.
''Aye '' came Saeunn's reply '' It's a good thing we came across that messenger to guide us, I wonder why the riders have to make their way to this fellow Raylborns office '' . '' As do I, but I can only find that out when I find the dambed place. I guess it was of some use.'' she mumbled as she turned a corner.
Keri heard voices and saw Draith down the corridor. Keri gave a sigh of releif. '' Finally!. Keri nodded to the dragon and spoke ''Greetings Draith '' she looked into the office and wondered what she had missed. She had been unconcious since the shade attack, so there could have been lots , she needed filling in. Keri longed the have Saeunn with her but had insisted he went hunting first.
''Er.. '' she started ,unsure. '' Sorry, am I late? '' she asked, hoping not to be intruding....

Lira was shocked. So they wouldn't be going to Ellesmera afterall. When would she learn all the skills she needed to be a proper rider? She didn;t know much now as it was and she had to go help these people in Narda...Would she be able to?
Of course you'll be able to help them Lira...
Lira looked at Eri skeptically, How? In your own special way
She was about to ask Eri somethign else but then she heard Raylborn say Niniel would be training them in the air and all thought of her question vanjished from her mind.
"Well, sir, what about me? Would I ride with Pike again as Eri is too small? And what about combat lessons?" she looked at the Lord of the Varden quizzically.

Pike turned his head and looked as the young rider entered. He pushed an empty chair out for her and then looked back at Raylborn.
"You will all be doubling up on the dragons at the least," Raylborn said, looking at each of them. "We have both Pike and Keri's dragons that are above a year old. They should be able to support two fully grown people. Jex's as well, could support a second rider, I presume. If one dragon is tired, they can simply switch off."
Pike nodded in agreement. "That is, if Saeunn and Keri are both fully healed," he said, looking at Keri. "If not, I'm sure Draith could support both Jex and Lira's weight, and Forest can take mine and Niniel's. We can mend to your wounds in the air, unless they're flight issues."
Raylborn looked at Jex and nodded. "You can practice sword fighting when we rest for the nights."

Jex nodded as the Varden's leader spoke. Draith was listening to the whole conversation through Jex's ears. I can handle the weight of two humans without a problem.
Draith stood tall and straight with pride even though no one in the office could see him. "Draith says he can handle the weight of two of us." Jex said for his dragon. With no problem. The rider was reluctant to say the next part. “With no problem.” He looked at the door and Draith’s smiling face was looking at him.

(OOC: Sorry haven't had time to RP guys *looks extremely uberly sorry*)
BIC:
Lira looked relieved and said, "Well, that's good. It would be bad if Draith collapsed because of our weight in mid flight or something."
Lira then looked at Lord Raylborn and asked, "Who will be instructing us in combat? Niniel?"
Lira's heart was soaring. She would finally get to learn all that she wanted to. Well, sort of... And she would be able to help if anythign happened. She wouldn't be as helpless anymore. Eventually anyway...
Everything takes time. Have patience Lira
I know Eri. But there's so much i want to do and learn and it seems like there's so little time. Everything is happening so fast. I don't want to wake up one day and find myself so far behind...
But you won't. You'll be right there in the middle of it all.
How do you know?
Because that's the way you are.
Lira then thought to herself, He does know more about me than I do...
No I don't. you just don't open your eyes wide enough Eri laughed and Lira raised an eyebrow at him. Someday she would understand everything he said.

Keri's heart hammered against her ribs slightly, she was still nervous of being around humans. Knowing the elves have strict ways she was unsure about how to behave with humans. Being apart from them for so long had left her with no memory of how they behaved.Keri was surprised she even remembered her family. The memory of their fate was what drove her to the Varden, revenge against those murderers searching for a Sapphire dragon egg.
''Calm down little one '' came Saeunn's calming thoughts. '' I can't help it, I only know the way of the wolves of Du Weldenvarden, I have no idea in which way I should behave around humans and with those wolves not knowing what you are doing could get you killed''
Keri knew the strict ways in which the wolves of Du Weldenvarden behaved, and that was what made her nervous. Accidentally offending a wolf was easy, and it could lead you to being attacked by an angry brute, or worse still, having the whole pack after you for unknowingly offending the alpha pair.
Keri sat down on the chair Pike had pushed forwards for her with a word of thanks. Sitting on the edge of the seat Keri's storm grey eyes met the man named Raylborn. Keri assumed he was the Varden's leader.Being the curious type Keri hated not understanding things, especially vital things such as the hierarchy of the her allegiance. Keri felt a slight sigh pass her lips. Learning the news of not going to Du Weldenvarden was not something she liked but she knew it was best to stay and assist any way she could.
Although she longed to return to what she knew, the thought of vengeance against the man that had ordered the death of her family made her wish to stay in this alien world.
Keri's eyes focused on Pike and she nodded '' Yes, Saeunn and I are...'' Keri hesitated, thinking of another word to use than normal, as there was nothing normal about herself and Saeunn. '' Er well, there were some major complications, but I think it is better now.''
The complication of which she spoke, was the poisoned dagger wound left by those d**ned shade twins.Which had left her weak, and the mental link between herself and Saeunn destroyed. Yet since the meeting with Arkantos, the mental link had grown in strength and was nearly as it was before.
'' It would be an honour to help '' came Saeunn's thoughts. '' It would be an Honor to assist '' she spoke, both for herself, and Saeunn...

((Quicky to have you all do something))
"Good," Raylborn said, standing up. "Then after this moment, Niniel and Pike will be in charge. Move out and get everything ready, meet back in the stadium in an hour."
Pike nodded and stood up, collecting the message and heading out the door.
