Alcane warily shoved the door of a taveren open. It was far past sundown, but men still drank mead. He didn't remove his hood as he advanced towards the barkeep. "Ye gonna remove yer hood?" the barkeep stated plainly in a slurred acent.
"I would rather not." Alcane answered icily as he slid some coins onto the bar. He didn't want to reveal his pointed ears. "I need a room and a pint of ale." He stated.
"Comin up." The barkeep said as he tapped into one of the barrels of ale. "Ye know, thears talk of seein a red dragon to the north, a ship just sailed south from Narda's crew is talkin about it. Had alot ah troble docking after tha empire ship burned down the docks." The barkeep gossiped. "Suppose yah ain't frum the north."
Not good, they must have seen Radon. Well, all the more reson to hurry. Alcane thought. He needed some supplys befor continuing his jounry to the varden.
Yep, you had better hurry up. I didn't see the ship, musta seen us when we peeked below the clouds. Radon said as the barkeep slid a drink onto the counter. Alcane thanked him.
"Why doncha drink tha while I find yer key.
Well, i'm gonna see if I can figure out anything more about the goings-on in the empire. Alcane answered. He weaved through the throngs of tables untill somthing caught his attention.
"I keep hearin talk that there was some kinda battle goin on down in Surda. I also heard summat about dragon eggs." A voice said.
Alcane turned towards the sound. The speaker was talking in a hushed voice.
"Anything about the empire's spys?" Alcane caugt the glint of coin being slid across the table. It came from the questioners pocket.
"Ahh, tha' bit might loosen my tounge. Lemmy see if I can rememba'... ahh, yes ah heard tha' th' empire was sendin' spys to Surda, ta find th' new rida there's talk of. Heck, for all we know, he could be a spy." The man accused, pointing at Alcane. "Walkin' around hooded like that."
Alcane just turned away and took the key that the barkeep gave him. "Know where that man sleeps?" He said, indicating the questioner. "I would like to give him a messege."
"I'll give it ta him." The barkeep stated.
"Alright, I want him to meet me in the stables at midnight tonight, tell him it will be worth his while."
"Ah'll tell 'im"

Alcane leaned against a post in the stables. He guessed it was almost midnight. Are you sure this is a good idea? Radon asked.
How else do you plan on contacting the varden. Alcane asked. All we know is that the're somwhere in the south, possibly the Beors.
What if he's not from the Varden?
Then who is he from? Asking about imperial spys like that, he'll probibly end up dead.
For all we know, the empires arm could have shortened.
It was long as ever when I left, someone comes.
OOC:Unless somone takes the part of the Varden spy, I'll just continue. NVM, too late.
IC: The questioner appeared out of the shadows. "Who are you." He asked.
"I am somone you would like to meet." Alcane answered, removing his hood, and revealing his elfin features. As a half-elf, he could be mistaken for an elf by an untrained eye, but now a Rider for thirteen years, one would need to be an elf to tell the difference.
The man took a step backwards, startled. "And what do you want? Master elf." He quiried.
"I want information, about where I can meet someone who can tell me about the Varden."
"That, I cannot tell you, for I do not know."
"Liar, I heard your conversation with the gossiper, I know your after iformation about the Empire. If I were an enemy, I could have reported you already. Then you would be in for quite an interrogation."
"How do I know I can trust you?" The man asked.
"First, I am an elf, and you probibliy can't be sure just from that. Second, I could have hauled you off to a tourture chamber if I was from the Empire."
"Common interogation techeneak(SP?). Say your on my side." The man answered.
Alcane mentally cursed. Theres only one thing for it. He told Radon.
It's not a good idea, what if this guy isn't from the Varden Radon said, then added. But your not going to listen to me, are you.
Alcane slid the glove off of his right hand, revealing his gedwey ignasia. He showed his palm to the man. "I am a Rider, is that good enough for you."
The man gaped in awe. His mouth opened and then shut, as if trying to say somthin.
"Stop gawking and acting like a fish out of water, and tell me where I can find the Varden."
"Go... go to Alberon. I warn you though, the empire has some new riders on their side, so you may be mistaken for one of them. Proceed with cation. If you confirm yourself as a friend, go to Bromeo Castle with your dragon."
Alcane thanked him, and left, leaving the still awstruck man behind.
