((Ok, so after this, the Rider Branches idea will be fully implemented. Anyone who has a character (not necessarily a magical character. You could join with a human who knows nothing of magic, that is fine) may join. This will mean that after this we're going to have to agree on whether making the Elders of each Branch an NPC or see if someone should RP them. Also, it will mean that everyone who has a Rider, his Rider's dragon will have the abilities due to his scale color or if he wishes a different ability, post a small thread in the Create a Character of training in their academy in whatever element you want other than the color of your dragon's scales. 3 Paragraphs is enough. Also, in addition, your Riders will also have a distress beacon (a ring with a gem the color of whatever Branch you're in) and a cloak and tunic that are their attire for formal times so like times when there would be a feast etc etc or you could just make that their normal attire. Now that I've explained everything, here we go! Also, I've asked Emi about using Raikao and Anurin in this post and she didn't mind.)) Pain and torment. The images of Murtagh cutting down Oromis. Despair and anger. He couldn't save his Rider at the time of his most need. Rage and vengeance. Murtagh will pay for what he did to Oromis and Thorn will pay for what he did to his body. Hope. A beacon of hope shone through all this. Glaedr realized how much all the Riders needed back the affinities. But to undo what was already done would need energy. More energy than any living single person possessed. He reached to the minds of both Raikao and Anurin. He would need their wisdom to lift the bindings on all the dragons. "Come, Anurin, Raikao. Let Vanilor and Entas come with you as well. There is much to be done." his tormented voice rumbled in their minds. He proceeded to call upon many other of the Varden to a gathering. As Anurin and Raikao came to him, he told them, "Take my Eldunari and let us go to the Gathering." showing them an image of a large space nearby. Upon their arrival, hundreds upon hundreds of people, Riders, warriors, spell-casters alike awaited them. It was awing to see all the dragons. Finally, Glaedr ordered Anurin and Raikao to take him to the center. "Hello my brothers and sisters." he said greeting the dragons who listened to him in awe. "Today I have gathered you all here for a simple reason. We need the affinities back. The Branches must be re-built. We need back the Elders, and our true powers. So lend us your strength and lips. And I will lend you the words." he rumbled in all of their minds. One by one, the people there nodded and mumbled assent. Glaedr then reached out with his mind to all and began the complex words, speaking them slowly so that they would know and understand. Those who did not know magic would still help with their meager energy. Hours wore on but no one left. Finally, as the sun began to fall, everyone opened their eyes and Glaedr said, "We are ready.". The wind rippled as if knowing what was happening. The birds quickly left and flew far away. Anurin | Anurin had been walking through the Varden Encampment when he had felt Glaedr. Listening to the tormented dragon, he smiled sadly then nodded. He went to Vanilor, saddled him then rose upon his back. Vanilor looked at him quizzically and Anurin shrugged. He didn't know as much Vanilor thought he did. Vanilor walked to the tent with Glaedrs' Eldunari and Anurin entered just to see Raikao enter and he saw Entas outside. He shivered, not knowing what was going on. As he entered, Glaedr spoke again and told them of a Gathering, then showing them a large open area. He nodded, took the pack that contained the Eldunari and rode Vanilor once more. As they reached the area, he was astonished as was Vanilor at the amount of people. Riders and non-riders. Elves and humans and Urgals and dwarves. Hundreds upon hundreds of people were there. He watched the many dragons with awe. Never had Anurin seen these many Riders in peace until before the Fall. Anurin was astonished at how far Glaedr was willing to go. Was this all to take vengeance upon Thorn and Murtagh? But surely he knew that it would also mean Thorn would be stronger now. He shrugged once again and listened to the words Glaedr told them. Slowly, as they all began to learn, they linked their energy and began chanting. Everyone who knew magic were spewing words of the Ancient Language. Complicated words and their energy combined began to cause ripples in the air, lightning sparked and as the day progressed to night, they continued chanting. ((Ok, to make it clear, the Empire will also get the power of the Branches but since Galbatorix would never give any of his Riders that leverage, we'll deal with the Varden lifting the bind. So I stopped here so that someone else could post and have fun ))

The singing of birds grew quiet and then stopped altogether as the wind picked up and rustled the leaves of the trees around the city of the elves in the large forest, Du Weldenvarden. Just beyond the borders of Ellesmera was an encampment of Varden men and women for the time being and that meant that there was room for something that had been planned here recently. The city buzzed for the entire day and then King Brenton strode out of the city and walked into the Varden camp with his head held high and his crown already resting on his head. Most of the time he went places without it for the simple fact that being king was not something he had officially chosen but it had chosen him. He felt like he was the same as everyone else and that meant that he would be the same as them in this situation. Young One, they are starting soon and I can already feel the magic in the air. Hurry to aid them.
Brenton nodded and rose to the challenge with his mind already gathering the thoughts of Glaedr who had contacted him earlier. The king started speaking the words and watched as the air seemed to shimmer with the power from the very words that were spoken by them all and the energy that they had to use to create the spells. Suddenly the spells were ended and Brenton knew that, after hours, the branches were finally being rebuilt from what had once been. The king sighed and looked out at everyone who had all looked to him and the Varden leaders for confirmation.
It is done, now for the next stage. Truth be told, Brenton wasn't sure what the next step was in this and he wasn't sure he wanted to know anyhow. Brenton was an odd case as a rider and had two dragons, one an eldunari and the other just over a month old. They were both different and so Brenton was worried about what would happen with him in this but he wasn't too afraid since they would both support him anyhow.

Long before Glaedr arrived, Isrydia had joined the gathering crowds to await the comeback of the Rider Branches. They were something even she had never heard of, but the idea sounded good to her as it helped unite the Riders and could benefit the general population by organizing them all. It was incredible to see so many people there. Riders from all over had flown in just for this, people of all races and abilities, magic users and non-magic users alike. Every person here could help if even in just a small way, and seeing so many willing to do so was touching. To her surprise, there were faces she recognized as loyal to the Empire as well as those siding with the Varden. Arlyn's growth had resumed as Anurin had promised, a small growth spurt leaving him well above Isrydia's waist, tall as her elbow. To his dismay, he was still the smallest dragon present, making him aware that he was probably the smallest dragon in all of Alagaesia, even though he knew he was not the youngest. The sight of so many different kinds of people and all these dragons cheered him up considerably, however.
Isrydia contributed to the buzz of chatter as people discussed what they thought the comeback of Rider Branches meant. Standing behind her, several people in between, was the tallest person she had ever seen. Matching the Kull that were dotted around in height, yet appearing somewhat elven but with hints of human and even perhaps dwarf in there, she had generated some talk as to who or what she was. Her golden eyes looked down, uninterested, as Isrydia spoke to her. "Hey, my name's Isrydia, and my dragon is called Arlyn. What brings you to support this?" she asked, making light conversation to pass the time.
The dark-skinned woman raised a black eyebrow. "I am glad to see some way of finally getting you Riders organised. The way you just fly around like you rule the world had to be stopped before you started fighting amongst yourselves or worse. It's good to see there will finally be order even for the great and powerful Riders," she said coolly. Ri'Shei did not give her name to Isrydia. She had no special love for Riders, seeing the majority of them as show-off. A lot of them needed to be taken down a step. Some in truth were genuinely good people and were actually skilled and talented, like her friend Ragdar, but a lot of them seemed to think the rules didn't apply to them. There was no organisation among them, and she saw them as being far more bearable, possibly even good, when they had some sort of structure to them. Seeing Isrydia's somewhat surprised expression, she shrugged. "Look, kid, you and that tiny lizard of yours just remember the rules still apply to you and everyone else has the same rights as you. Play nice with your other Riders, goodness' knows they could do with a lesson in order," she added sharply.
"Nice meeting you, too," Isrydia muttered before moving back towards the front. Arlyn was fuming at being called a 'tiny lizard', his size being a delicate subject for him. She could not understand how the tall stranger could be so rude. Who was she to assume that she didn't know her place? Someone mentioned to her that she was a strong Empire warrior. Her distrust of Riders was puzzling then, since she had thought the Empire relied heavily on its Riders.
As Anurin and Raikao entered with Glaedr, she fell silent as everyone else did. There was a shifting within the crowd, and everyone somehow seemed to move to arrange themselves by height to allow everyone a good view. The tall woman from earlier ended up at the back beside Urgals and Kulls, in front of the dragons and behind the elves. Isrydia was towards the front with humans of a similar height, Arlyn sitting in front of her among the dwarves. She saw Brenton arrive and made sure she was away from him. Their interactions had been all the more awkward as of late, and she did not want to spoil today with tension and more confessions. Arlyn was in awe of Glaedr, once at the head of the Dragon Rider Order. Then the chanting began. Arlyn joined in with his childish mind-voice, Isrydia pleased that he was teaching them all the words since her grasp on the Ancient Language was still poor. Their voices all spoke in unison, rising and falling with all the different tones the people present spoke in, some voices high pitched, some low, some loud, some soft. She treated it like she would any spell, but it felt strange to be helping cast one this complex. The only spells she had used so far had been ones that had instant effect. Arlyn lent his energy to the spell, his words joining the river of the chanting, but as a dragon he could not cast a spell in the same way a human or elf could. They felt the words flow around them, magic heavy in the air, causing it to ripple and flow in time to their almost musical chant. The voices of hundred all speaking as one flowed around her as the spell wore on, making her feel so oddly relaxed she did not even jump when lightning suddenly cracked. As night began to fall, she and Arlyn carried on with the others, feeling a great sense of unity and the sheer strength of their numbers.

Ooc: I’ll add some age to Myrkr for this thread, so he can already fly with Stiarna and talk with her mentally. I think he’ll be between 1 and a half month and 2 months old.
Stiarna was riding on Myrkr’s back while he was walking around some forest near to Dras-Leona, Stiarna liked riding Myrkr, and Myrkr liked having Stiarna on his back, no matter if they were flying or not, so it was a win-win situation. They were chatting with each other mentally, Stiarna always trying to avoid talking with riddles to not annoy him, since she found out that her riddles could make him get angry. The themes of their conversation went from medicinal herbs to the animals that Myrkr hunted, they never left anything unsaid between them, one always knew perfectly what the other did, no matter what, and they loved it, since that made their bond even closer.
While they were chatting they felt someone wanting access on their minds, the presence wasn’t threatening, so they left it in, not like if they could do much to avoid it though, since they were still learning how to protect their minds. Slowly energy was drained from them as odd words crossed their minds, they cloud identify the voice as an old wise one, but out of that they knew nothing about it. They decided to stop and Stiarna dismounted Myrkr, sitting in the fresh grass. Myrkr soon laid at her side and curled up around her. It didn’t took long for them to fall deep asleep with the words on their heads.
When they awoke again they felt a little odd and immediately looked at each other. Stiarna mounted on Myrkr again and they continued their trip, trying to find out what just happened, all they could give was ideas and theories, but nothing else. The strange feeling didn’t faded away.

((So since I've given a long time to post, I'll go ahead and continue. If you by any chance want to post from before this post, then go ahead and state in your post that it'd have happened before this post had rolled into effect. Also if you have objections about the Elders, do state so. We made this idea so you could be happy and have fun, so if there are any problems, no matter how puny or minor, please express them so we can fix it))
Many of the people after the chanting passed out. Anurin and Raikao stood wearily. They knew what was to happen now. Glaedr, being the only one present other than Anurin and Raikao could pass judgement and so he did. He reached out once again to all those present and stated,"We have completed the ritual. The seal is lifted. But now, who shall maintain control of each Branch? I, Glaedr, dragon of Oromis, grant the position of Elder for the Air Branch to Anurin. And that of the Earth to Raikao. The Psychic.. they have gone mad. Do not expect much from them. And do not under any circumstance enter their main citadel where Ashendale and Nelfarion live. I grant the position of Elder over the Water Branch to a young, but experienced elf. Laetri."
Stunned silence met his statement of the Elder of the Water Branch. And Laetri himself, was shocked. Frozen in place. The burden.. how could he put such a burden upon his back? Anurin, Raikao, and Glaedr were ancient. They had knowledge far beyond his. Would he lead his Branch to ruins? He was about to stalk back when a gentle muzzle nudged his back. Looking back, he saw Agaravel."Do not be afraid, young one, I am here to help you. You will be great. Go now, and make all of us proud." she said softly. Swallowing, Laetri stepped forward, holding his head high and proud with Agaravel close behind. Many of the people present inhaled sharply at the sight of such a young pair being named as Elder. But it was done.
Glaedr observed Laetri and Agaravel, no not with his eyes, but with his mind. They were ready for this. Satisfied, he continued,"Many of you will now think of my next decision as poor, rash, and some others might even consider me insane. Yet I name the Elder of the Fire Branch as Ragdar, rider of Lenora, adopted child of Galbatorix." Many of the people quickly yelled and began shouting but were soon shut down by the mighty roar of Vanilor. He rumbled in their minds,"Are you not ashamed of yourselves? You question one of the few remaining wise Old Ones. Glaedr has been through much for you, and yet you still do not listen to him!" angry at them for what they did.
Shortly after Vanilor's speech, another roar broke out, this one smaller than Vanilor's. Ragdar and Lenora walked proudly to the center. And Ragdar turned and spoke,"Many of you know me as a mad man and a murderer. Though none of you know whom I truly am. My judgement is easily clouded by anger. But with this responsibility of such magnitude, I give you my word that I will do all I can." voice modest, speaking in the Ancient Language.
Finally, everyone dispersed but the Riders. Those of the Earth followed Raikao who strode towards the mountains. Others, of the Air followed Anurin and Vanilor high up in the skies. Others, of the Psychic wandered off to the portals to their citadels. Some more followed the un-wavering though fearful Laetri and Agaravel under the sea towards their citadels. And the rest looked towards Ragdar who sighed and nodded. He rode Lenora and off they flew towards the one volcano no sane mane would want to go to.
(( Ok, so from this point on, anyone who wants to change their character's affinity post it here that they instead of following whoever they were supposed to, followed the others and began their training. Everyone else, who has a Rider character may go ahead and post so I can introduce the idea in full. Those with normal characters may, if they want, to follow the Rider's. ))

((Uh rash and conceited post from Brenton the former servant of Galbatorix...))
Brenton had been standing there listening to the elder dragon speak as he recovered from the exhausting toll it had taken upon his strength to complete the ritual but as soon as the words and elder were announced for the Fire Branch he went from calm to extremely angry and grew more so as he listened to the man, Ragdar speak. Inside himself he knew he was of the Fire Branch and he would not follow any son, even adopted, of the tyrant king Galbatorix. I WILL NOT FOLLOW A SON OF GALBATORIX!!! Before any could leave, Brenton sat astride Grazael and the golden dragon walked into the area with the elf king holding his head high and his hand on Undbitr's sword. Even as adopted son of Galbatorix, Ragdar is related to the man who destroyed the riders and held so many in captive. I myself have fought for him because I was FORCED to do so and I will not learn from or serve under another with his name. If any of you have a problem with this then I will fight you right now with blades drawn and no guard on the edge!
His voice was raised and Brenton had it amplified, drawing energy from Undbitr's pommel at the same time. Suddenly a tall and muscular shadow appeared next to the golden dragon and a familiar voice rang forth with just as much command. I support my king and will not see someone who has dealt with tyranny for so many years told he has no other option then to follow again from the same family. Choose someone less likely to harm us and take out the head of the elves then I might support you, Glaedr. Kialandi stood tall and yet when someone looked at him and asked what he had to do with this particular ceremony, the man turned and grinned. Not everyone is as they seem. Suddenly a large white dragon stood where Kialandi had been with his head high and his wings spread farther than most could spread theirs. And as someone who can control dragon blood, I have every right to speak for dragons and humans alike. If I say this is folly and can say I know Glaedr from before most of you were even born then I expect it to be listened to and taken into consideration. With that he gave a mighty roar and glared at all who dared to challenge him. Instead of challenges, though, a whole host of elves and humans alike moved toward Brenton and gave approving nods and murmurs to let the elder dragon know they would not be swayed.

Isrydia felt light-headed after the chanting finished, little Arlyn leaning against for support, eyes half-closed. They caught their breath while the Elders of each Branch were announced. Some of them Isrydia knew, others she did not. Arlyn was icy blue, verging on white at the tips of each scale, and so had a natural affinity for either the Air or Water branch. The two discussed it wordlessly in their minds, and it did not take long for them to reach the decision to join the ranks of the Air Branch, feeling more suited to agility than for guarding their minds, as Isrydia was not the best at magic and mental battles, while Arlyn was a skillful flier. Their Elder would therefore be Anurin and Vanilor, a choice she was pleased with. She had met the pair before, and they had healed Arlyn's wound completely and helped him start growing normally again just because they could. That proved to her they were generous and sympathetic leaders she would be pleased to follow. Laetri's new position came as a surprise to her, and she grinned upon hearing it since she counted him among her friends, although she had not seen much of him. Raikao she had heard of but never seen before, and he seemed all right. Whoever Ashendale and Nelfarion were, she did not see why Glaedr would appoint someone who had gone mad as an Elder. His reasoning was curious and she wished to know more about that decision.
Ragdar's announcement caused the biggest stir. Ri'Shei behind her smiled widely at the great honour her friend was given. She trusted him and knew he would do a great job. Isrydia and Arlyn were reminded of someone, but they couldn't quite put their finger on who. He resembled a figure they had seen in a dream after Arlyn had first hatched, someone who had... what had they done? There had been a Rider who beat his own dragon, and the other Rider had been the first one's friend, but had let Isrydia go free all the same? Something like that. Perhaps that dream had been a vision of the future, if such a thing could happen.
As objecting cries arose and Brenton made a great show of his speech, it became apparent that he was not without opposition. Ri'Shei moved over to Ragdar's side whispering a congratulations before glaring at the Varden members protesting. Members of the Empire were voicing their approval. They all fell silent as Kialandi transformed. Ri'Shei, Isrydia and Arlyn did not share so much in the surprise; Ri'Shei had met another dragon spirit by the name of Camarat, and Arlyn had already seen Kialandi reveal himself on another occasion, and had relayed that information to his Rider. It still made him uneasy, however, and he tensed. Then a muttering began. Isrydia knew that this would travel far and wide, the dragon spirit race exposed. Before long everyone in Alagaesia would know about the people who could turn into dragons.
With the transformation failing to shock Isrydia, she pushed forwards to get near Brenton, the shouts starting to rise in volume again. "Brenton, you are one of my closest friends, but I have to disagree. I trust Glaedr's judgement, even if some of us may not understand it. He knows more than any of us do, even you. He can see the larger picture. The whole point of the Riders is to ignore national feuds and do what is best for everyone, right? Galbatorix has done terrible things, yes, but Ragdar is not Galbatorix. You can't just exclude people from these Branches because of who their father is, or who they side with in the war. If a member of the Empire can do a good job of leading the Branches, then why shouldn't he do so? If we only allow Varden sympathizers to become Elders, the Branches with just become a weapon for the Varden. The destruction will be terrible, and Riders will tear each other apart as they betray each other within the Branches. We need the Elders to represent all beliefs and loyalties to keep the Riders unified. The Branches are supposed to be peaceful. In other words, leave all the stupid political feuds out of this. Galbatorix was the one who hurt you, not Ragdar. Sure, he might believe in the Empire and you in the Varden, but how does that affect his ability to lead? The Rider Branches are outside the Varden and the Empire. We're all Riders. Let's be united for once, OK? We all know what happened the last time we were divided," she spoke, aware of the eyes on her. Arlyn remained silent. The two were feeling surprisingly frustrated by this. Not angry, but frustrated. Why couldn't people see that the whole point of the Riders was to help people and work together regardless of who they were? She thought Brenton was letting his own personal issues cloud his judgement of Ragdar's character. All the disruption annoyed her greatly. This was one of the reasons why she hated politics so much. Why couldn't everyone just get along? Brenton hadn't even given Ragdar a chance, and already he had brought in that stupid civil war into something which was supposed to be separate from that. In all honesty, she thought it somewhat selfish of him to be putting his personal grudges above the judgement of Glaedr and all those who supported Ragdar. It wasn't just the Empire; a few of the Varden and several neutral people had also sided with him.

Stiarna shook her head lightly, still feeling a little tired and with that odd feeling on her chest. Some words still echoed in her mind sometimes, and she could feel that Myrkr was having exactly the same feelings as her. When a portal appeared Myrkr gave a couple of steps backwards and Stiarna almost fell, the portal closed almost immediately. They looked at each other, confused, not knowing exactly what was going on, though something strange urged them to try to open a portal and enter. With a deep breath, both focused and a new portal appeared. They slowly entered, Stiarna with her sword in hand and Myrkr with all his muscles tense to fight or flee if needed, and what they saw left them astonished.
Myrkr started to fly around the floating isles, looking at the odd bright green ores scattered all around the place with amazement, he never knew something like that existed. Stiarna was just as surprised as him, the place was huge and confusing, completely new and almost like if it were defying all the laws that she knew until then. After some flying Myrkr started to fly higher and Stiarna took out an empty scroll and a pencil, starting to draw a map of the place, in part because she liked to do so, but mostly to not get lost in that new world.

(( Ooc: Well then, this just got exciting. Shame that Silvy's busy off taking a picnic in the Nether hahaha ))
Deep anger boiled within the Eldunari that began to shine brightly. He contacted Vanilor then hid deep within his Eldunari, sulking in anger. Vanilor drooped his head and then roared for attention and said,"Brenton Brommson, we have met before. You are known for calling others tyrants, yet look at yourself right now. Tell me Brenton, do you see a tyrant that misjudges people for other peoples' sins or a rightful king? I for one see a tyrant. Kialandi Morzannson, we also have met. You of all people should trust in Glaedr's judgement. Also, we did not restore the Branches for you to use it to your advantage in your silly war. You may be old and wise Kialandi but your are too proud and pride is a shame at times." his voice rumbling deep.
Anurin nodded and continued for Vanilor,"Vanilor is right. All of you here, Empire, Varden, and others who are not of either faction came here with an oath that they will not cause conflict. Yet here I see Brenton Brommson breaking his oath. Brenton, my dear friend, do you think you are the only one who has been caused suffering from Galbatorix? Out of us all, Glaedr has received more pain from Galbatorix than all of us combined. He lost his rider and his body to him, yet he still has the wisdom to allow his pride to pass and name who he knew would be a good leader. I, myself, lost many great friends including Oromis to Galbatorix, yet I do not complain. I see Ragdar as a fitful leader in his own rights, and it is not he nor his father who are the tyrants in this situation, butyou Brenton. You are not above others. We all have our grievances but we must allow them to pass for what is good for this world." speaking in the Ancient Language to prove his every word was true.
People began to nod and mutter assent and slowly the crowd began nodding their heads. Ragdar turned to Brenton and said, in the Ancient Language,"Brenton. I shall be honest with you. I have no love for you or anyone with the Varden here. Yet if my father and I are the tyrants, then what would that make you? You complain of your own grievances but do not look towards what would benefit the whole society. Also, when I heard that the majority of the Elders were of the Varden, did I stand up and object? No, I did not for I knew it was for the best. Brenton, I may be mad, and many of you probably consider me a heartless man who feels naught yet I tell you right here, right now, almost not a single second of my life was a second I spent happily. Yes, I dislike the Varden, but this Gathering is not for us to bicker at each other. Dear Brenton, if I, the supposed tyrant, know this, then should you not be ashamed for what you are doing?" his voice unlike his usual haughty tone. This time he was reasoning, all pride lost.
Laetri nodded and spoke up for the first time and many were surprised,"Brenton, my king, I respect your every opinion and feel deep sorrow for what had happened to you, but I must agree with Ragdar and Glaedr upon this subject. The same way you treated me, or Anurin or Raikao as we were announced Elders, you must treat Ragdar. I mean naught to injure your pride, but for once, swallow your pride and let this pass, for the sake of Alagaesia and her Riders. For her people. This Gathering is not a council of war between the Varden and Empire. This is the first gathering in history with more than 10 Riders that weren't thinking about how to murder the others. Please Brenton, listen to us." To his advantage, many of the people had moved towards their side, muttering assent and beckoning for Brenton to join them.

[whoa, do I ever have a lot of characters that should be here. ] rider of Entas | rider of old Rakaio had said nothing since the power of the branches had been released. It apparently had taken a major toll on him as he and crumpled to the ground doubled over, even his dragon seemed to be feeling it as she lay on the outskirts of the group. Being the largest dragon there she had opted to remain further from the crowd to allow others to gather near. The old rider had used much of his energy to complete the ceremony needed, so much that he was risking death now as a price. Surprisingly he was still conscious, with a determination in his pained eyes. The ground seemed to glow slightly around him as a few flowers suddenly grew from the dirt. He had used nearly all his magic but as the powers of the Earth branch filled him he seemed to stabilize. Earth types were more sturdy and could withstand more than others, granting Rakaio the ability to live when most would've not withstood what he had done. Finally, he slowly pushed himself up and stood unsteadily. He murmured something releasing a spell. The earth seemed to comply as it stained his cloak a mottled brown and green color. A stream of golden liquid rose from the ground forming a circle and a thin gold ring fell onto his head which hinted at a crown. He sighed in relief as he seemed to have gained strength back. "Rakio!" Entas called worriedly. "I'm fine Entas really," he said. "You should not use your grey folk magic so readily you know it's dangerous,"[/b] she said. Only his grey folk magic had the power to restore him like this as she knew he'd used up nearly everything he had. "It's who I am, I live with the risk every day besides I would've died had I not used it," he said. His words seemed to silence her. He glanced at Brenton and those talking having only caught part of what they said. He still looked weakened and pale though. His grey folk magic might have kept him alive and allowed him to cast a spell but it would not undo the toll the ceremony had taken on him. "The Branches, they were conceived in the early days of the riders, they weren't known well then but each branch works as a system of balances and checks. No one branch is more powerful than the others. I understand your concern and no one will force you to follow Ragdar. You are of fire but it is possible to serve another branch, you would not gain our powers but you would answer to that elder rather than your own," he said. Fire, Earth, Wind, Water...who would be physic? If one was not named the power would choose it's own elder. If any branch were to be feared it was the physic who often was mad and insane. rider of firern | former empire rider Emiryal stood watching unsure what to think of all this. His black cloak billowed slightly in the light breeze. He didn't often wear one except when traveling, he'd only arrived that morning and had not changed his attire since. When Ragdar was appointed elder he nearly cried out against it but Brenton beat him to it. Emiryal too was of the Fire Branch. Without hesitation he walked over to the elven king. "I cannot serve under Ragdar! When I left the empire I swore I'd answer to no one. I follow my king only out of respect. I will not serve him," he said pointing at Ragdar. As far as he knew Ragdar was still of the Empire and serving under him was no different than what he'd run away from, serving Galbatorix. rider of Sephora | varden rider Caspian sat near Sephora and leaned against her side. They watched the proceedings with mild interest. They too were of the Fire Branch. "Is it possible to serve as an elder yet not drag the branch into the Varden or Empire's wishes?" he asked Sephora. "I don't know but you and I are sworn to the Varden it matters not what branch we are. If Ragdar were to order us against our oath we cannot do it. Besides if something comes up we'll be able to keep an inside watch on it,"[/b] she said. Caspian nodded and wondered how Glaedr felt about this. He was golden too which meant he'd be in the Fire Branch, not to mention Caspian had Oromis' blade and as far as he knew Sephora looked very much like Glaedr had when he was young. rider of Kamikurai | empire rider Reru had no interest in either the Empire or the Varden though he always appeared to be serving his father. He smiled hearing the news. "Oh Glaedr, you think this will get you revenge, think it will save the Varden? You've empowered us all including my father," he said. Kami ignored him. He laughed when he heard the argument over Ragdar being an elder. He stood up and walked towards them. "Ragdar, congratulations brother," he said ignoring the protests of Brenton and the others.

Brenton looked up at Vanilor who roared and then started berating him for his actions and words just to cut off and have Anurin continue where he had left off. Then it was Laetri who started in with his words and yet the king did not fret about it because words rang forth in his head. All three of them had called him a tyrant more so than Galbatorix who had caused so much pain and suffering and it bothered Brenton to no end. Finally he looked up at Vanilor and Anurin who were right where Glaedr was. Glaedr-elda, I respect your judgment here and know that if you trust someone who is related to the scum then I will put aside my complaints. Ragdar, you on the other hand aren't someone I will apologize to for even as an adopted son who may or may not be different from your father, you are my enemy. If you should try to hurt myself or my people in any way then I will hesitate not to behead you myself or appoint someone to take my place instead and they will kill you. This I swear for it is not in my nature to forget past wrongs easily. Until that day comes I will listen to what you have to say but I will not follow you or even take instruction from you besides what to do as part of the Branch.
The king looked back at Vanilor and then bowed his head before he continued on with what he had to say to the dragon. And for those of you who say I am the tyrant instead of Galbatorix, I am who I am and if looking out for my people and those like me who don't agree with following the likes of the Empire is tyranny then I am as you call me. Still I am not someone who leads with an iron fist and have more than once told my friends and those who live in the forest that they have a choice in this war. Even those who are most like me such as Emiryal have been given a choice to fight beside me and he stands with me on this. Vanilor-elda, while I respect your words I do not think you have all the knowledge you claim to. Once again if I am a tyrant then so be it but the king is just as much so in his way as well. Glaedr, you should know that since Oromis died and you lost your body because of Murtagh who follows Galbatorix against his will.
Everything that the elven king said was spoken in the Ancient Language so that all of them who could hear would know that he meant every word that he said. Suddenly Grazael was roaring in the sky and the dragon cast his mind outward. Does not everyone label others and speak in anger things they should not? If my rider is a tyrant because he is king and is just like that then what does that make the rest of you. Fools, that is what all of you are for believing that Brenton is a tyrant because he labeled the Empire king as a tyrant. You labeled him and are doing the same thing yet what you believe is that someone who has died and cannot die again is all knowing. Glaedr is in his eldunari and while he may harbor hurt for what was done to him and Oromis, he does not have to fear dying for treachery like Brenton does. Do not all of you fear for your lives and live scared each night because you know not if you will wake up in the morning? Brenton is in more danger because he has escaped the Empire and now leads the largest opposing group against the Empire. If Galbatorix were to get his hands upon him then my rider would die at the gallows in front of everyone because of his actions.
Kialandi shifted back and glared at the elders above and then spun on his heel and walked away. Just before he left, the man stopped and spoke loudly. Vanilor there is more than you know about pride. I am proud and also know that not everyone is like their fathers. Even I am in a similar position as Ragdar because my father is Morzan but the difference is that I disowned his actions and have done all I can to right the wrongs done. Ragdar still follows Galbatorix and that is what makes him unfit to be an elder. Put someone else who is not as high in the Empire as elder and maybe there will be more reason for me to agree with your judgments. With that he walked out of the area and disappeared into the trees.

After Stiarna finished her map of the place and added any detail or reference point she thought that could be necessary she rolled up the scroll and put it on her backpack carefully along with her pencil. Myrkr focused on opening a portal to the normal world, wanting to rest a little somewhere known and get used to his newly discovered powers. Stiarna just relaxed as they crossed the portal, but both of them forgot to focus on the exact place where they wanted to appear, so the destiny made the new portal to lead them to a destination far away where they thought they would actually appear.
In the exact moment they finished crossing the portal they both appeared next to a large group of older dragons and riders that were in the middle of some kind of discussion, the wise voice that spoke to them not long ago now back In their minds for a couple of minutes, coming from a big golden stone that shone like if it had a ray of the sun trapped inside. They were too confused and surprised of their sudden apparition to listen what they were discussing most of the time, only managed to catch the very last words of the discussion.
Stiarna and Myrkr looked at each other exactly with the same idea in their mind and immediately tried to walk away without being noticed by the group. They didn’t want to get in trouble because of the sudden appearance in the middle of their fighting.

Isrydia listened to the others as they joined in the arguments. Brenton was very quick to make death threats, she observed. He always seemed to be proclaiming to the world that he would fight a person he disagreed with to the death. Thankfully, it never seemed to come to that. She thought words were a much better way of arguing, since they could actually bring people to feeling comfortable with your side of the story. Killing people just made them dead and annoyed their friends. That thought, Grazael's words were quite persuasive. She imagined Brenton's were too, but her understanding of the Ancient Language was patchy at best so she did not really know what he had said. It seemed he was not the only one to have been hurt by the Empire, either. While she sympathized with Brenton and the other Rider, she felt it was unfair to Ragdar not to at least give him a chance. Glaedr had paid a huge price at the hands of the Empire, so seeing him trust the adopted son of the person who murdered his Rider and killed his own body was proof enough to her that Ragdar was a suitable leader.
Ri'Shei was very much for her friend becoming the Elder of the Fire Branch. Insolent little Varden supporters. She herself had not liked Ragdar when she had first met him, the two being ending up sparring. She had come to respect him through that, however, fighting alongside him during the battle at Dras-Leona. "I suppose you don't trust me, either, but I know Ragdar. You all make assumptions about him, but you haven't even given him a chance, for goodness' sake. Have a little faith and trust, all right? We're not all bad in the Empire," was her contribution to the argument. She would not have involved herself if it weren't for her annoyance with pretty much everyone there for the reason she said next, "You're all just shouting insults at each other like small children with an oversized vocabulary," at that, she rolled her eyes. She supposed she had just joined in the insulting too, but at least she wasn't shouting. Her accusation was only half hypocritical.
Isrydia heard the spartan. She was right. Arlyn beat his wings in frustration as she looked between the people who had gathered here, most of whom had fallen silent to allow the Riders to be heard. The majority of the crowd were ordinary people and elves, but among them were great warriors and scholars. The Riders who had so far spoken all looked older and wiser than her, which was intimidating. Still, she had courage and feeling enough to continue having her say. "I think it's clear that we aren't going to reach an agreement here, that you," she gestured at Brenton and the other Rider who claimed to have left the Empire, a little embarrassed she did not know his name to speak it, "will never be comfortable with serving a person connected to Galbatorix. But I trust Glaedr's reasoning; after all, he sill trusts Ragdar after all Galbatorix did to him. He would be in the Fire Branch too, so he'd be serving under the son of a man who did him so much wrong, and yet he still puts trust him him. So I think we need a different approach. What if the Elders were to speak an oath? Not just Ragdar, all of them. Saying they will step down without fuss if they were deemed by a majority to be unfit to lead, and will not use their power for anything relating to the Varden or the Empire," she suggested. "And Ragdar and these two Riders could all swear not to seriously harm one another," she added. Her gaze turned to Brenton and Emiryal, hoping they would accept.

Finally, Glaedr came out of sulking for a couple of moments, reaching to Vanilor who nodded his head."Riders, partners of my brothers and sisters. We have not come here for war. We all have come in peace. The youthful Isrydia has suggested an idea I myself agree to. All the Elders, gather with my Rider, and together we shall make an oath. An oath in the Ancient Language that we will not use our power and influence as Elders to benefit nor Varden or Empire. Nor will we harm our subjects. Also, Rerukusu, in answer to your question, Glaedr states it is not vengeance he seeks. No, not like this. You may be old Rerukusu, but you are far from wise." said Vanilor, who had to be rather far from the center due to his immense size. Anurin nodded and then spoke out loud a suggestion that was absurd to many present,"I for one do not approve the corruption of the Psychic Branch. Yet nor should they not be supported. I grant my vote of the Elder of the Psychic Branch to Rerukusu, a true son of Galbatorix." spoke Anurin, wide and clear.
At first there was silence. Following the silence was a huge roar of disapproval. Many knew how corrupt Rerukusu was but as Anurin calmed the crowd he said,"Yes, he has done many bad deeds in his life. But why did he do them? You judge him on what you see on the battlefield, where he is forced to kill or be killed as are many of us. The horrific deeds after the murder of his dragon, unnatural as it was, is the same anyone would do in his position. Also, how do you expect to get a positive reaction from someone so long as you do not give them a chance? I vouch for Rerukusu and Ragdar that they will fulfill their duties as Elders." he ended. The crowd was silent but one by one, they finally agreed to give Rerukusu and Ragdar a chance to prove themselves. Then, beckoning the Elders, Anurin began his oath of fealty, speaking in the Ancient Language, and reaching out to everyone's minds so that those who did not understand it, would understand it.
He then, walked over to Emiryal, Brenton, and many others who opposed Ragdar."Brenton... you have trusted me before, and that has made you a great ruler. Trust me and Glaedr this time. Trust our judgement. Give the man a chance. In time, you will learn that not all enemies are what they seem. Also, do not drag the war into this. Do not deny to follow one man due to the war. Here, we are all part of one faction, the Rider order. Every man or woman here that serves under the Varden will treat Ragdar and his Empire companions as if I was in their place. And the same goes to the Empire men and women present here." said Anurin. He turned a sad face, that had no pride there and said to Emiryal,"You were enslaved yes, but not by Ragdar. I, myself, have many grievances with Ragdar and his family. But I do what I know is best for our Order. Please, do not disrupt this due to a pitiful conflict between the Varden and Empire. Give the man a chance, he may just prove you wrong."
Laetri was astonished by Rerukusu's sudden promotion to status as an Elder. He knew Rerukusu and did not approve of this decision. But being a good leader was doing what you thought would be the best in the long run. As Anurin beckoned them closer, he also came closer and repeated after Anurin, following his example as he reached out with his mind to the others, so that those who did not understand the Ancient Language would understand him. Soon after he completed his oath, he announced he would be taking his leave."I have delayed my Riders for too long. I must follow them to our Citadel. Repairs must be made, and I must supervise it. Take care Anurin, Ragdar, Rerukusu, Brenton, Emiryal, Raikao, Isrydia." he stated, mounting Agaravel as they disappeared into the waters.
Ragdar grinned at Reru and said,"Take your congratulations to yourself, brother." He walked to Brenton and said,"Brenton, if I must swear an oath in the Ancient Language for you all to be satisfied, then so be it." and recited the lines the other Elders did, both physically and mentally."Brenton, I must say, I do not wish our conflict to continue, for the sake of the Branches, I hope you listen to reason. As for the rest of you, Brenton included, come with me. We have much work to do as Laetri stated. Those of you who had argued in my favor, I thank you for having faith in me. As for those who were against me, I have naught to say to you." And with that, he mounted Lenora and took off in the general direction of the volcano that was soon to be their citadel. At first, it was just he and Lenora in flight. But soon, many of the Riders and their dragons followed.
Finally, just the Psychic, Earth, and Air branches remained. Anurin nodded and said,"Come my friends, we have much to do if we are to complete the repairs on the citadel." his voice rather tired after that large argument. He waved over Isrydia and Arlyn and said,"How would you two like to see how it feels to fly up in the sky upon Vanilor's back?" without waiting for a response, he hoisted Isrydia up and Vanilor helped her climb to the saddle as Anurin and Arlyn were lifted onto his back with his paw. Due to his large size, his saddle's side had as well increased, giving them a lot of space, even with Arlyn up with them. Vanilor let loose a roar and climbed towards the skies above the Beor Mountains.

Once they considered that they were far enough to avoid themselves getting involved the discussion of the older dragons and riders, Stiarna jumped off Myrkr’s back and, careful enough to choose a place where she wouldn’t be spotted easily, she sat, curiosity making obliging her to stay and hear, plus, if so many dragons and riders of all classes were reunited together whatever they were discussing had to be of extreme importance. With a long sigh, Myrkr sat at her side, curling up his tail around her, like always, listening carefully to the words said by the dragons and riders, both normal and mental.
Both stayed on their hiding place, listening carefully without any intervention of their part, not knowing that the discussion also involved them, though not necessary directly. When the wise voice coming from the glowing stone spoke, telling who would be the Elder of the psychic branch they looked at each other. They didn’t need to have much experience to know how important the position of elder was, and they didn’t know how to feel about a rider of the empire being chosen as one. Being neutral, they didn’t had anything against said decision and nothing in favor, but they knew how brutal the people of the empire could be, what leaded them to be unsure of said choice.
They kept listening to the gathering with growing interest, trying to absorb all the possible information of what was going on, and though they didn’t understood the ancient language fully yet, they could feel the power and main purpose of the words being said by the riders, understanding them in a different way, but good enough. When one of the rider flew away they were unsure if follow him or not, but something told them that they shouldn’t, that they had to wait a little more. So they stayed still and looked at the remaining riders and dragons. When they noticed Anurin and Vanilor in the group they couldn’t notice that they didn’t spotted them before, looking at them as they flew away. After some seconds of looking at their direction they looked again at the remaining group, waiting, though not fully sure of what they were waiting for.

rider of Kamikurai | empire rider Rerukusu was somewhat surprised by Glaedr's words of not seeking vengeance. He knew all to well the hurt of loosing his dragon and he would imagine the same would be for the reverse. What was Glaedr after if not vengeance. Had Brom not been killed Reru would've sought vengeance on him, but he had no one to direct his anger to, he only had hope of restoring his dragon however small. The next words stunned Reru beyond reaction. Him an Elder of a branch? He wasn't seeking that all he wanted was his dragon back. No one understood how much it hurt him even now to be without her and by extend that meant no one trusted him. And to hear an offer of this was trust. The roar of disapproval was not surprising to him. Of course they would protest, who would want the only true born son of Galbatorix as an elder. Ragdar was adopted but he at least had not lost his dragon. The only wisdom he saw in that was Galbatorix had never made him swear fealty to him. His father would have no power over him to manipulate him. Kami glared at her rider. Elder? For being his dragon she knew little of his true intentions as he kept those hidden from her, but she feared the trust they were placing in him would never be realized. Reru was mad and while he didn't serve Galbatorix he could do just as much harm. Reru smiled at her. "It's inconsequential to my plans for you," he said waving off her concerns. He walked forward to join the others in taking the oath. If anything it would prevent Galbatorix from deciding to force him to use it for the Empire. It wouldn't stop him from using it for his own cause though, his was neither Varden nor Empire. He smiled as his brother, Ragdar, spoke to him. "Unexpected but you know as well as I this oath will prevent father from using this for the Empire. I don't know about you but I'm not looking forward to returning to Urubaen now," he said. He swore the oath with the others not seeming to mind in the least. "May the winds be in your favor," he called out in a farewell to Ragdar as he and his dragon took flight. How did the others know where their citadel's were? No one had told them as far as he knew unless he'd missed the meeting. Maybe it was where ever they decided to build it. He glanced at the sky where the faint dots marked far away dragons and he smiled. His citadel was not far at all, he could feel it like it was calling to him. "Ah there you are," he muttered. "Physic time to go home," he said. He got on Kami's back as she took flight making it appear she was trying to leave him behind. He stood on her back when he pulled himself onto her instead of strapping himself into the saddle. He certainly wasn't about to use his own magic for this, he intentionally used as little of his own as possible. Instead he reached out to all living vegetation and wildlife in the area, purposely excluding those gathered. In an instant he drew all their energy killing plants and trees and wildlife and directing it skyward. It answered his will and opened a purple vortex in the sky into which Kami flew into and vanished into another dimension. The vortex vanished shortly after the final Physic rider entered. rider of firern | former empire rider Emiryal's expression did not change nor did he seem willing to do as Anurin asked. "I cannot do as you ask. I will not follow Ragdar now or ever," he said in the ancient language passion filling his voice. His words might as well have been an oath for he had spoken them in a binding language. And now for him to follow Ragdar was impossible by his very nature of speaking those words. "Do what you will with the Order, it isn't my concern, but this is more than a pitiful conflict as you call it between Varden and Empire. Were Firern white I could not follow you either. When I left the empire I swore and oath I'd never serve another man. Any act I take now is my own. I follow Brenton out of respect but I am no more bound to follow him no any more than I am to follow you. The Empire hurt me more than you can ever imagine and those wounds are too deep for me to accept taking an oath such as this to any man," he said now speaking common English. "You know where to find me," he said to Brenton. Then walked briskly towards Firern and after strapping the ties on the saddle to his legs the black dragon took off headed for Du Weldenvarden. The Fire Citidel was likely a place he'd never visit. rider of Entas | rider of old Rakaio had never served either Empire nor Varden. The earth elder complied and swore the oath. He remained silent when Reru had been called as Elder of the Physic. He wasn't sure what the idea behind it was but Reru was more than mad enough if that was a requirement. As he had said before no branch was more powerful than another which would mean Reru held no advantage nor would it be any different as that branch had always been more mad than the others. Once the oath completed he returned to Entas, but instead of making to leave he sat down by one of her large claws and leaned back against her. He still appeared to be exhausted. "We'll leave on the 'morrow. I have not the strength to travel," he said to the few of his branch who watched him expectantly. He frowned as the tree's and vegetation around them died. And glared at Reru who was entering the vortex. "Forever mad indeed," he said to no one in particular. rider of Sephora | varden rider Caspian watched as Ragdar took flight. "Seems like it's time to go," he said to Sephora. He hoped Anurin would still help train him. They hadn't trained much be he had learned much from him. Maybe Ragdar would help teach him but he hoped his training could continue with Anurin at some point. He got on Sephora's back and she launched into the skies to follow the rest of the fire branch. "So does this mean we um have more power in fire spells or something?" he asked his dragon. "I have no idea," Sephora responded.

Isrydia felt surprised and honoured to see her suggestion actually put to use. It was a funny feeling, being taken seriously and having her ideas valued. At first she had attributed it just to Arlyn, but she was slowly starting to think that perhaps this was not the case. She had been through such a long journey so far and had learned so much. Her mind had changed and matured, her ideas perhaps more valuable. Being a Rider certainly made people pay attention to her, but at this moment, a junior among greater Riders than her with her voice heard all the same, she realised that she had grown into a different person over these past months. She could hardly be described as wise, but she had seen enough to lose her previous innocent and naive thoughts. She did not know if that was all a good thing.
Ri'Shei frowned as Reru was named the Psychic Elder. It did not affect her, of course, but giving power to that man never seemed like a great idea. She did not know him personally, but her fellow Empire soldiers talked about him enough. He was mad, of course, but rumours gave different variations on in what way and what his motivations are. Many simply said he was a sadistic psychopath, and all centred on the cruel way he treated his own dragon. That made her feel uneasy. It just made her uncomfortable to see him incapable of showing kindness and loyalty even to his dragon. She nodded to Ragdar as he left, watching the dragons leave before lingering to listen to the conversations of the people. Eavesdropping was a quick way to see how the people really felt about an event, and most of it seemed pretty positive except for the odd remark against the Empire or the Varden.
Isrydia was about to agree to riding with Anurin on Valinor's back when she was lifted up. Scrambling up the vast white dragon's back, she found a place in his large saddle. Arlyn appeared beside her with Valinor's help, and scrambled forward to nestle in front of her, head almost high enough to obscure her vision. The Elder of the Air Branch had already done a lot for the two, and they would be sure to repay it by working hard to build up their citadel. They were both glad to have a lift to the Air Citadel. The citadel could only be reached by air, and they were the only Rider and dragon pair from the Air Branch that they could see who were unable to reach the citadel by themselves. Arlyn turned a sapphire eye on his Rider excitedly. "We finally fly together!" there was a smile in his voice. He fidget happily, and then they were off. Valinor flew quickly. The Air dragons would be able to reach their citadel from anywhere fairly quickly with help from the air currents.

Stiarna and Myrkr stayed silent as the elder of their branch was chosen and looked at him. It made them a little nervous to have Galbatorix’s son as their elder, but then didn’t knew him at all, so they took for sure that he deserved a the benefit of doubt, maybe he wasn’t as terrible as the king. The obvious disapproval of the rest of the dragons and riders, making them hesitate, but Glaedr’s words calmed them down. They looked calmly as the rest of the dragons and riders, some more reluctantly than others, accepted him as an elder. They listened, both with ears and minds, to the oaths made by each elder in the ancient language with respect, almost not even daring to breathe while they were doing so.
The glare that Rerukusu’s dragon shoot at her rider made Myrkr feel uneasy, he was nervous of knowing that their elder’s own dragon didn’t fully trusted him, yet Stiarna didn’t really noticed said action, fact that Myrkr soon realized. Myrkr decided to not worry his rider just for now and grant the elder the benefit of doubt as they previously decided, but he still decided to keep an eye on him, just in case.
When Rerukusu called the respective dragons of his branch they took a deep breath. Stiarna jumped on Myrkr’s back and he walked towards out of their hiding spot, ready to go to the citadel. Once they had enough room to move freely Myrkr started to fly towards their elder while Stiarna looked at him stand on his dragon’s back with some newly found admiration and respect. When he used the spell to open the portal they realized the vegetation and animals dying around them, what made them feel uneasy, they didn’t knew it was Rerukusu’s fault though, since they hadn’t reached that part of their training, not knowing yet of the ability of taking energy from other beings.
They entered in the portal almost right behind their elder, looking how the vortex closed when all the psychic dragons and riders were in the Nether. Stiarna immediately took out her new map, just in case, and looked at Rerukusu again while Myrkr followed him.

Brenton glared at Rerukusu who was way worse than Ragdar who had already tried to kill him anyhow. Still they had both taken the oath and that meant that the king was willing to go along with it. Brenton mounted the young Grazael and they took off into the air to follow their Branch elder toward the volcano where they would be learning. He hoped that this wouldn't cause any strife in the elven hearts.
