Brenton made it outside at a stumbling run with a weary grin on his lips that never reached past that. The poison on the dagger was fast acting and mixed with dragon blood to make it more potent but it wouldn't kill. No, that poison would attack vision and the other senses leaving someone extremely disoriented with a minute. If undealt with by the third minute then the victim would be paralyzed for an hour. Not life threatening but definitely not pleasant. Brenton slipped under a broken tower and hopped onto his stallion, passing out. Now to go to the Varden with this information.

Farore was not surprise by the complaints she heard from Ri'shei and Reru. If she had not thought of this plan herself, she would not have thought her plan was sound. Afterall, why shouldn't they go after the man that just tried to assassinate her? She had her reasons, but they didn't know that.
She first looked at the door and used magic to shut it tight before turning her attention to the other two people in the room as Reru checked on her wound. "Trust me, I have a plan. I've been expecting an assassin for the past several weeks now, and since this one is an elf, I have no plan on just letting him go. Besides if you have gone and tried to chase after him, he'll have escaped anyways, while possibly killing either of you in the process. Just give a second to think." She informed them as she formulated her plan quickly.
Ri'shei and Reru then became curious about the reason why the assassin had used daggers to attack her. While she thought it was abit obvious, the other two took a short while to realise that they were poisoned.
"Ri'shei, be careful with that dagger. We have no idea about what type of poison is on it, and the last thing we need is you to be infected by it too. The same thing goes for you Reru. The venom is in my blood and could have become even more potent because of it. I don't want to take any chances with this type of thing." She accidentally neglected to mention that she didn't believe the poison would have any effect on her because of the strange nature of Dragon Spirits. Though whether she'll be immune to this poison has yet to be seen.
"Now if neither of you want this guy to get away, we need to focus our efforts on catching him. Now if I had to guess, the assassin would have just escaped the castle, and would probably be heading to his horse right now. So we now have a limited table of time to catch him before he reaches the Varden. Now first thing first, we need to get eyes in the sky. Reru, I need you to get on Avendel as quickly as you can, and Ri'shei, your with me." She said right before she stood up and exited the room, heading towards the courtyard at a brisk pace.

Reru seemed alarmed when Farore pointed out the dagger's were poisoned. He found himself nearly muttering the words to draw the poison out but without knowing what to call that poison the spell very likely would fail. It was either figure out how to extract the poison from her or go after the assassin. Going after the assassin might help them learn what the poison was if they could get the information from him, but by the time they did that would it be to late? "I sure hope you know what you're doing, don't die on me Farore," he muttered not really intending her to hear. It seemed she had made up her mind and arguing would waste time, besides he did know what she was and he hoped her being a dragon spirit would be enough.
"Avendel is already on it, she saw him leave the castle," Reru reported as Farore stood and exited the room. "Ri'shei keep an eye on her for me, don't let anything happen to her," he said sincerely. He knew Farore was quite capable and could handle herself, but as his feelings for her had grown he had gotten more worried about her. He was worried and he didn't even know if his feelings were returned at all.
Reru closed his eyes and focused his thoughts blocking out his feelings for Farore. He didn't want to have the spell go wrong by making a mistake like that. It only took him a few moments before he opened his eyes and then in a flash of purple light vanished.
Avendel had taken flight and wasn't far behind Brenton. Catching a horse was a joke, she could fly faster than any horse. As she closed the distance a flash of purple appeared before Brenton and Reru stood there near the broken tower Brenton had hid the horse under, Reru's left hand was out stretched as he gave a single command. "Huildr," he said letting the word form his magic to hold rider and horse. He ignored his injured arm, despite the pain it caused him. This was for Farore!
Avendel landed behind her rider and chuckled, a rather interesting sound to hear from a dragon. "He took on more than he could handle," she observed seeing Brenton passed out on his horse. Reru smiled. "Yeah and he'll pay for this," he said still maintaining his spell as a precaution. "Farore, we have him," he reported reaching out to find the tactician's mind.

Why wasn't Farore trying to rid herself of the poison? Time was key both for recapturing the elf and for trying to prevent it having an effect on her. Dragon Spirits might react differently to poisons than other races, and the elf probably didn't know what Farore was since it was kept quiet even within the Empire, but there was still a chance the poison could harm her. She was prepared to leave Farore to sort herself out while she and Reru went after Brenton, but Farore was the tactician here and should know what she was doing.
Trusting Farore, Ri'Shei nodded to Reru's request of not letting her die and followed the Dragon Spirit out. The spartan's long strides quickened to match the brisk pace. She saw Avendel fly overhead, landing to corner in Brenton. The last time she'd seen him he'd been on foot. Elves might be fast, but they couldn't hope to outrun a dragon. Even if he'd found himself a horse, he wouldn't have much of a chance. He had used a lot of magic too so would be weak, but she couldn't help but wonder if there was something else he planned.
"What do we do now?" Ri'Shei asked Farore.

((This AU never said Brenton didn't get a dragon egg. Have fun... )) Brenton snapped his eyes open, full of energy from his brief rest, and saw the dragon and rider. He shook his head with mock horror and then the show began when Brenton broke free of the spell with a mighty bellow and the horse galloped straight for Rerukusu and Avendel. Within twenty paces, Brenton took two more poisoned daggers and threw them at the pair. With a strong wind behind them, Brenton watched the blades hurtle toward dragon and rider. Brenton rode away just as a large blue dragon swooped from the sky and the assassin jumped into the air. Within seconds they were in the air and Brenton was pulling out vials of poison and his arrows. Quickly he soaked the heads in toxin and started shooting arrows at the three people randomly.

As Farore had reached the courtyard, she took notice of Avendel overhead beginning to land to where she guess the assassin was at. It wasn't long after that when she got Reru's message. Yet, she felt like there was something wrong, something she hadn't taken account of yet. That's when she noticed the blue dragon in the air.
"He's a rider." She realized outloud as she took several paces away from Ri'shei. She knew she wouldn't have long seeing how Reru and Avendel were by themselves against the assassin and his dragon, and they had no idea what other tricks Brenton had up his sleeve. So she quickly transformed to her dragon form then looked over at Ri'shei. Quickly, get on. We don't have much time. Farore demanded Ri'shei. Then once the Spartan got on (or refused to do so), Farore took off after the assassin rider.
She quickly did her best to catch up to the others as Brenton shot arrows at them. She did her best to take evasive action, doing all she can to avoid the arrows coming towards her without losing ground on her target. A few stray arrows did manage to hit her, but they had bounced harmlessly off her scales.
Reru, Ri'shei. I need you both to concentrate on casting a spell that'll ground this would-be assassin and his dragon. With both of you working together, there should be no way they'll be able to break out of the spell. Not easily, at least. She mentally told Reru and Ri'shei. However, she was not fully convince this plan will go well. Their quarry has proven himself to be resourceful so far, and she knew full they couldn't risk underestimating him.
((*sigh* Why was this post so hard to create?))

Before Reru could act to stop the blades Avendel flicked her tail in front of him, the blades harmlessly bounced off her scales and the wards Reru had placed on her. She roared at the horse scaring it as Reru climbed onto her back. Spreading her wings she took off as an arrow came their way but again their wards prevented it from finding it's mark. He barely heard Farore's order. "Alright, I'll try to bind the dragon's wings then," he said. He held out his left hand and cast the spell to bind Brenton's dragon's wings to it's sides. He expected resistance so he focused on fighting back against that.
Laughter filled the air as a green dragon dropped out of the clouds. "What have you don't this time my friend," Emiryal asked as the pair circled around Brenton and his dragon. "Looks like there is one for both of us. How thoughtful of them. You want this one? I'll take the other?" he asked pointing at Reru and Avendel.
[in this AU. Emiryal joined the Varden, never meet Firern, so he has a different dragon.]

The intruder had a dragon. Of course he did. Ri'Shei narrowed her eyes angrily. That made things a lot harder. She was still determined to succeed, however. The attempt at assassinating Farore might not have succeeded, but there could still be some other plan the intruder had. Few had ever entered the stronghold uninvited and lived, so there had to be a good reason for the half-elf to have faced near certain death. Ri'Shei planned on keeping up Uru'Baen's reputation as a place none who were unwelcome could leave with their lives.
It was always odd to see Farore turn into a dragon. She had seen it a few times now, but few enough as it was largely kept a secret. For all the intruder knew Farore was dead and this her dragon come to avenge her. She clambered up to sit on her back, scanning the area below her for any sign of an ally to the intruder. Whatever poison had entered Farore's veins, she doubted they would cause much damage to her as a dragon.
"Of course, but if it gets too costly I hope you'll lend us some energy," the spartan replied. Seeing Reru reaching out a hand from Avendel's back, she spoke with him in the Ancient Language to aid the spell. Unused to riding on dragonback, she kept both hands firmly gripping onto the spike in front of her. Flying this high up was scary even to she who had no fear of heights usually. How did Riders cope?
Just as she thought she and Reru's spell should have done the trick binding Brenton's dragon's wings, another Rider arrived. This one rode a green dragon and appeared to be a friend of the intruder. Great. She'd known he would have something else up his sleeve. They were matched in numbers, but Ri'Shei wouldn't be afraid to call other Empire Riders for help should things turn nasty. She couldn't do much with her swordfighting skills here and jumping onto another dragon's back was foolish, so she was limited to just using magic.

Brenton nodded as his mind was instantly focused on countering the spells from two directions. He muttered and his voice started to rise in a mid tenor to high baritone pitched song of freedom. Instantly the spells weakened enough for him to move again and the blue dragon flew off. Straight at Rerukusu to be exact is where the dragon flew as his rider drew the blade of blue and pulled a shield onto his arm.
As the distance between Avendel and Vaentr decreased, Brenton slipped his legs free of the binding straps. He pulled his body into a half crouch and waited until Vaentr was just there before jumping onto Avendel's back. Brenton swung Undbitr, expecting superior speed to this Empire scum.

It was just going to be one of those days when things always seem to go from bad to worse. Not only did the assassin somehow broke both spells binding his dragon without breaking a sweat (especially considering how this is the man who had just ran through several walls not even 5 minutes prior), but another Varden rider had come along to his assistance. Now this fight has become a four versus four battle with a rider, his dragon, a Spartan, and a dragon spirit on there side against two riders and their dragons. However, this was far from the worst situation Farore has ever been in and she already began formulating a plan on how they could get through this on top.
Farore quickly took note of the fact that Brenton and his dragon were now flying towards Reru. She then took notice of the fact that he had freed his legs from the straps that bind him. This gave her a good idea about what he was about to do, and she thought it was one of the most stupidest things someone could do in his situation.
Ri'shei, focus a powerful gale spell on the assassin, and only the assassin, in order to knock him off of Avendel. She requested the Spartan, feeding some energy to her so that she would be more then able to cast such a spell.
Reru. Avendel. I need you both to focus your efforts on attacking the newcomers. Me and Ri'shei will focus our efforts on the assassin and his dragon. As long as you both keep your wards up and listen to what I say, we should be able to get out of this alive. She told the others as she flew as fast as she could towards Vaentr.

Not knowing Farore's intention of the gale wind to push Brenton off, Avendel had to take precautions to avoid the danger. The moment Brenton landed on Avendel's back the purple dragon did a barrel roll and a steep dive heading straight for the ground only to pull back up after a short drop. Reru had given her enough warning to her about Brenton's jump. Reru during this had crouched on Avendel's back feeling the strain on his wards as Brenton's blade was deflected. As she came out of the barrel roll and dove he loosened the straps on his saddle. If Brenton had managed to stay on during that stunt he'd have to fight him off. He turned and got into a crouch before standing up to see if Brenton had managed to stay on, his sword drawn and ready, the purple glint of the blade catching the light. "We'll try Farore, but we are a little busy at the moment," he replied trying to spot where Brenton was.
Emiryal and his green dragon were about to go after Farore and Ri'shei when Brenton attacked the other pair. "Vaentr, what do you say to evening the odds, lets get that dragon down," he said sending an image of Vaentr and his own dragon chasing Avendel down and taking her out of the fight. Without waiting for a reply the green dragon dove headed for a collision course for Avendel. Emiryal had his blade drawn ready to deal a blow that would hopefully put the odds in their favor. He had been going for Farore but if they could knock out this one it would be easier.

Ri'Shei had been too concerned with Emiryal heading their way to pay much attention to how Reru was faring. That goodness Farore was such a good tactician. She knew to pay attention to the whole battle, even when involved in the fighting herself. She was about to conjure the gust of wind when Avendel spiraled downwards, too fast for her to cast the spell. Wasting something strong enough to knock Brenton off Avendel would not be good. That kind of energy would not be too great a cost, but would still tire her somewhat and was unlikely to hit at this point.
Once Avendel swung out of her dive, Reru had unstrapped himself, and Emiryal had turned his attention to ganging up on the Empire dragon and Rider, however, it was a different story. Ri'Shei had a much clearer shot, although there was no predicting Avendel's movements for certain. The best way to get Brenton off for certain would be to target a wide area, but Reru was not bound to his dragon either so would fall too. Muttering a few words of the Ancient Language and barely hearing them before they were thrown away by the wind Farore was cutting through, the air near Avendel stirred. A few more words, and a great forceful wind shot at Brenton. Air might have very little mass, but at the incredibly high speeds this travelled at it would exert a great force on Brenton. It should have been strong enough to wind him on impact then force him off Avendel's back, especially with Reru helping, but there was no certainty. It was weird for Ri'Shei to control air that was not near her, but it was necessary for accuracy.
"Brenton's left Vaentr alone, or you could try plucking him from Avendel's back," Ri'Shei suggested to Farore as she tried to maintain the winds for as long as possible, making them twist and turn to follow Brenton and Avendel's movements.

Brenton felt the slight stir in the wind just before if hit him, but that was enough time for him to throw out his cloak and let it carry him backward and up toward Vaentr where the blue dragon was already getting ready for an attack upon the dragon rider himself. It was a well orchestrated move because the half elf flipped up onto the dragon's back and they shot down toward Reru at high speeds muttering a spell that would hopefully hit anyone not strapped in on the dragon's back. He wouldn't be hit because it was his spell but other than that the three others were in danger. The winds built and then shot out in a circle around him creating a large gale until it died down, either having worked or not.
Yeah let's hit them together and protect each others backs. You have a dragon rider coming at you from behind right now, by the way. Brenton replied to Emiryal mentally while he prepared to defend his ally and help in any way necessary.
