--->Strengths: Since he is a dragon spirit, he has the ability to change into a dragon, which is a very great strength indeed. He has a commanding air which helps him to rise quickly in the ranks so that he doesn't stay a normal soldier very long. His body, both in human form and dragon form, is in incredible physical shape, because he is ceaselessly walking, flying, or fighting.
--->Weaknesses: He loves to play cards and will spend many hours playing at a tavern, that is, if his money lasts that long. He has a very short temper and he has killed many men just for crossing him the wrong way. And...big secret here... He's afraid of birds! Even when in dragon form, he has this unnatural fear of almost anything else that flies. If they don't get too close, he's fine, but if they get within a couple of feet of him, there's no telling what he might do.
Family: He doesn't know any of his family and doesn't care to. Rumor has it that he killed the rest of his family when he was about ten but no one knows for sure.
History: Ikrydan was brought to the capital when he was about five years old and has lived there since. Although many rumors have sprung up about where he came from, no one really knows who brought him or where he came from. He cannot even remember even though it is his own life story. He grew up as a normal boy in the house of one of the merchants there but he was treated badly and often, when he grew older, he would sneak away with some of his adopted father's money to play cards at a tavern. This earned him a reputation as a thief and through his games at the taverns he earned a reputation as a cheater. When he was twenty years old, the merchant turned him out into the streets from whence he had come to earn or steal his own way. The merchant cared little either way.
Ikrydan spent many years in the area around the capital stealing from farmers and staying away from anything that would appear to be law. During this time, he found out about the dragon side of his nature. While scavenging around a farmhouse, he was confronted by the farmer who attempted to drive him away with a rake handle. Ikrydan sttod his ground though and before he knew what was happening, the farmer was running for his life in the opposite direction. Ikrydan was greatly confused by the farmer's actions because no one had ever acted that way toward him before. Then he noticed that there was smoke rising in front of his eyes and he stepped back, astonished, but the trail of smoke followed him. It was then that he realised that he had become a dragon. He threw his head back and laughed but at the same time, he unintentionally swished his tail and knocked a hole in the side of the barn. Quickly, he took to his wings, knowing well enough that the farmer would soon return with a good portion of the army to capture him. Before he had gotten more than three feet off the ground, his body returned to its human form and he fell back to earth and ran back to his hideout.
For the next few days, Ikrydan stayed hidden, practicing the transformation until he felt he could control it and until he thought the coast would be clear for him to return to his nightly raids. The transformation had greatly confused him but he had heard stories about creatures that could change from human to dragon and although he had assumed it was just an old wives' tale at the time, he now knew that there was at least one such creature in the world.
His pillaging trips became even more tricky to trace and with dark scales and wings, he could obtain almost anything. Before long, the whole countryside was alerted that there was, as the wanted posters said, a "Weredragon" on the loose. He found soldiers at almost every house that had anything worth stealing and before long he was captured in a moment of lax caution. Although his first thought was to transform into his dragon form and scare the soldiers away, Ikrydan soon found that they had not captured him because they thought he was the dragon spirit that had been terrorizing the area, but because of a draft that the king had commanded throughout the entire area.
Thus began Ikrydan's service to the king. Like all new recruits, he was forced to train and to swear in the ancient language to be faithful to Gallbatorix and Galbatorix alone. He did this wholeheartedly because he wanted to take part in the action and this was the best way in his eyes. Without telling anyone who he was or what he was, he served to the best of his ability, and over the years, climbed through the ranks of the Empire's army. When he was captured, he was nearing his fiftieth birthday and by the time he reached his one hundredth year, he had shown his dragon shape more than once and also had been promoted to the rank of general. Galbatorix had found out about his nature and had made the arrangements to give him the position and his own command.
Riding into battle on a black steed, he would leap off at the battle front and transform. Then, soaring over his troops, he would urge them on to victory with a roar and a charge toward the enemy lines. Before long the soldiers saw it as a great priviledge to serve under the banner of the "Weredragon" as they called him.
This fame again brought the attention of Galbatorix to rest on him and Galbatorix had several magic users teach Ikrydan some spells that, used in the proper place at the proper time, would cause great devastation to his enemies. These same magicians continued on with his troop and became his personal advisers in all the matters of war and magic.
Anything extra: I'm hoping it is okay that I have made him a leader of a branch of the empire's army. If I must change it, I must, but I am hoping this works because I have thoroughly enjoyed him. I have not RP'd many bad guys before and I am looking forward to this one.
