Brenton smiled slightly and nodded as he listened to what Rella said about how she had a matchstick temper and a grudge against magic but wanted to know about it. Then she told him that she would need time to herself as well so it wasn't like she would always have time for him either but she wanted to know if he could live with that. When she was finished, the king sighed softly and noticed that she had moved closer to him during talking to him. Without really caring about the repercussions but hoping that Rella wouldn't get upset about it, Brenton wrapped his arm around her shoulders and spoke again.
Of course I'm a king but sometimes being king means that I don't get any choices in life so when I do I normally take the chance to choose what I do even if it takes a lot of work. So I will gladly be able to handle you needing to have time to yourself and can even try to explain magic to you if you are willing to listen to what I have to say. Most of it revolves around the fact that if you can't do it without magic then it is unlikely you can do it with magic. Magic takes the same amount of energy that it would normally take which is why most riders have weapons with a gem as a pommel like Undbitr have a sapphire in the pommel. That gem is used for storing energy over time to call upon if you need to cast a spell that you would otherwise not have the energy to cast. But there are also times where people draw from the energy around them and from nature to get their spell cast. Most important is to never try to raise the dead or undo something that has already happened no matter what there is for a reason to try. No amount of energy can accomplish that and so you will die from trying. If you cast a spell that takes too much energy and it is not worded to end when you pass out then you will die, end of story, game over.
