Full Name: Farria (far-ree-ah)
Other name: The First Warg, Leopard Child, She Who Walks Unseen (yeah that name is lifted straight from the Hobbit but originality sucks anyway)
Race: Warg
Side: Neutral
Birthplace: Therinsford
Age: 7
Gender: Female
Birthday: 29th October
Eyes: Warm forest green
Hair: Brown
Weight: 45 lbs
Height: 3' 4"
Magic User: Yes, but she's not very powerful due to her young age
Preferred Weapon(s): She will avoid fighting by hiding or trying to make peace at all costs, but should that fail her teeth and claws in snow leopard form. She carries no weapon.
Appearance: Farria is a small and scrawny child, the sort to go easily unnoticed. She is shorter and lighter than other girls her age. She fragile and while like any seven-year-old she isn't strong, she is fast and agile. As a warg she can walk unseen through shadows. This is not through any magic, merely she doesn't attract attention and knows how to move while hidden. She can dart through narrow gaps and slip away when no-one is looking, using her small size to full advantage.
What is most striking about her appearance when people do look at her is her eyes. They can seem to stare at things. There isn't anything too special about them, other than how vivid, bright and warm they are, the warm green of forests. The rest of her is fairly plain to look at. A delicate nose sits above a mouth still without most of its adult teeth. Her round face has yet to develop into an adult's, her features still childish. Soft brown hair falls past her shoulders, growing thick and straight. She is too young to do anything to it, and prefers to leave it loose. It often gets very messy and tangled.
As far as clothing goes, Farria isn't fussy. A simple dress or old shirt with a skirt or trousers will do. She's used to not being able to afford much, so she's satisfied being without anything fancy.
Personality: To say Farria is quiet is an understatement. She has never been very talkative, but as of a time shortly after she first dreamed of Sheratan, she began saying less and less. Fear of other people's horror at seeing her, a child become so different she was creepy, coupled with fear of her own actions, has driven her to refuse to say a word. And elective mute, this could change one day, but for now she abhors speech.
Farria is a shy and polite child. She treats everyone kindly. She tries not to see fault in people either, looking for the good things they do or why they do any bad deeds. In this she can be as naive and innocent as any child, although recent experiences have forced her to harden and mature somewhat. As with most people her age who have also had a normal upbringing, she is very trusting although has been taught 'stranger danger' so won't blindly follow people she's never met before. Being shy, she feels nervous around new people and likes to know them before inviting them to anything. She is introverted. While she still likes company, she prefers smaller cozy affairs in nice comfortable warm rooms with a few trusted people rather than large events with loads of acquaintances. She likes to have few friends she knows and trusts well and hates showing off. Keeping quiet, she won't draw attention to herself and usually ends up overlooked and/or underestimated.
Farria's shy attitude stems from what is probably her largest flaw; her cripplingly low self-confidence. Once has boastful and ambitious as any child dreaming big, bullying, rejection and avoidance have left her feeling like a freak and as though she does not fit in. Since news of her dreams of Sheratan spread, other children bullied her and adults would not say anything but would try steering clear of her as it was known there was something wrong with her. Her parents tried to 'fix' her, and to an impressionable young child like Farria this all led to her believing that without doubt she was wrong and broken. The dreams and occasional spark of magic were serious problems with her. She is frightened that if she makes herself known other people will reject her since that is how people who knew her enough to know about the dreams and magic felt. Since becoming a warg, this fear has spread to a fear of herself and what she had become, which is why she was driven to refuse to speak at all. She fears the uncontrolled aggression newly given to her by her bond with a predator, and the complete loss of control she experiences when transforming as well as the consequences of this.
--->Likes: Sheratan, peace and quiet, climbing, not being seen
--->Dislikes: Loss of control, speaking, loud noise, lots of people, anyone showing off (or showing off herself)
--->Strengths: Kind and peaceful, can walk unseen, not suspicious in the slightest, can turn into a snow leopard
--->Weakness: Low confidence, refuses to talk, too young to be strong in a fight or in magic
Family: Alyxandir - Father - Cobbler, Therinsford
Nalren - Mother - Therinsford
Tobyr - Older brother - Apprentice cobbler, Therinsford
Marria - Older sister - Therinsford
Ellian - Younger brother - Died of a fever, aged 8 months
History: Farria was born the third child to Alyxandir and Nalren, a couple who owned a shoe shop in Therinsford. The most prosperous business in the small town was the renowned mill, but the family were better off than many. Farria grew up up with her older brother and sister in the rooms above the shop, spending most days running around the streets with her friends or helping her parents in some way or another. Her brother, Tobyr, was four years older than her and expected to take over the family cobbling business when her father could no longer run it himself. This made him quite bossy of his sisters. Farria's sister, Marria (her parents gave them similar names because they thought it was sweet, the girls less so) was only a little over a year older than her and the two got along brilliantly. She did have a younger brother, Ellian, who was born when she was two years old and died when she was three, before he had even reached a year old. She does not remember him much despite being sad about the ordeal.
Tobyr had his own group of friends, mostly kids older than the sisters. Marria and Farria has a tightly-knit friendship group of a variety of ages, the children of parents of all different professions playing together. There was a brief period of time wherein a feud with the millers' children developed, but that quickly dissolved as they befriended a few while climbing around the mill buildings.
Climbing was something Farria and her friends enjoyed. Down on the streets, there were people who would overlook little children running underfoot and could make them trip or shout at them. The roofs were their own domain. Not many other children went up there, and so long as they were careful they could sit and talk or explore all they wanted. Most buildings weren't very interesting to climb, but the mill was more interesting as more buildings had sprawled outwards as the industry grew.
So Farria spent her early childhood, running around and getting into trouble like any other child, being dragged into the house to clean and be taught a few scattered lessons about anything her parents thought might be useful. Not long before her seventh birthday, that all changed. When she first dreamed she was a fluffy white leopard cub, she thought nothing of it. After the eighth consecutive night spent dreaming of warm dens in snowy mountains, exploring on four paws, she was worried and told her parents.
Her parents insisted it was fine, and the dreams stopped for a little while. It didn't take long for them to return, however, and once a dream of a huge male snowcat finding her mother's hiding place for herself and her littermates frightened her so much she woke screaming to find she had managed to set her sheets on fire as she leaped out of bed in panic. That was when her parents realised something was going on. They took her in private to visit a local priest, who claimed these to be bad omens of a possible spirit haunting her.
News spread, and parents told their children to avoid Farria. Even her own siblings were more wary, though they tried to hide it. She grew more quiet as time went on. At first her friends suggested she was simply a great and powerful sorceress, but over time even they left her and moved on. Her dreams were troubling her more and more, even when the snowcat in them was happy. The wild instincts of the animal were felt by her and she feared them taking over her.
Months passed, and Farria reached seven years old. The snowcat in her dreams began noticing she was there, and absurd thing, and once or twice even reached out to her in the day, just curious. She got a name after a discussion one night. The snowcat was suspicious of another mind seeing through her eyes, and Farria answered through feelings. The leopard asked her name, and Farria asked the leopard's, but the snow leopard did not have one. She looked up at the stars when the child said she was too young to think of a good name, insisting she let the stars choose her name for her.
The next evening as the stars appeared, Farria pointed at one at random, asking her father what it was called and what the name meant. First was 'Alzirr', which meant 'the button', then 'Spica' the 'ear of grain', then 'Ascella' the 'armpit'. She was surprised at the sort of things stars were named for, but eventually found 'Sheratan' to which her dad said meant "Not sure, but a pair or couple. Two of... something," which was good enough for her. She and Sheratan were two of something, and she had no idea what that was other than they were both part of it.
After naming Sheratan, Farria soon stopped speaking aloud altogether. So great was her fear of the looks of revulsion seen by the people who knew she was something not seen before that she simply tried to avoid saying anything that could make them dislike her further. Whatever she tried didn't seem to work, so she instead resorted to not talking at all.
The child became something of a ghost. Never speaking, ignored, enjoying being alone and hating being seen. Noone seemed to know what to say to her. In the dreams which tended to come weekly, Sheratan was feeling drawn to something and had left her mother in search of it. In her heart Farria knew it was she the snowcat was searching for. One day the animal finally reached her destination.
It was a normal day in Therinsford. Cold swam and bit like sharks through the air. A dusting of snow layered the ground and hit the large white leopard as she padded towards the small town. Farria was sitting on a rooftop with her legs dangling over the edge, watching people walk through the street below. She heard the screams as people fled from the big young cat which prowled through. Until that point she had hoped Sheratan was a figment of her imagination, nothing more than a potent recurring dream. Yet here she was, the snow leopard she had dreamed of, in the flesh. Fear gripped her and made her scramble from the roof to flee as other people were. They fled a hungry predator; she fled what she feared she was.
The snow leopard bared her teeth and snarled, bounding after the fleeing crowd. She was faster than any human, and they were forced to hit her to drive her away. Finally she cornered a few and crouched, watching them, ready to pounce. Farria couldn't bear to watch or let it happen, so she ran in front of the hungry leopard that was poised to kill. Noone tried to stop her. She was certain this was the snow leopard in her dreams but for a brief moment her certainty wavered as the cat looked ready to take her down too. She closed her eyes and held her arms in front of her face as though that would protect her, hoping at least that the distraction would give the other people time to flee and maybe the snow leopard would be satisfied with just one death.
A gentle lick tickled her hand. Farria opened her eyes to see to her great surprise the snow leopard was watching her with friendly eyes. She nuzzled Farria, the child so small she wasn't much bigger than the snow cat. Thoughts flooded together, frightening them both. They knew they were the creatures from their dreams, but could not say why their minds were joining. Farria fled, the snowcat following. She couldn't control herself, it was hard to hold onto who she was. That filled her with fear that only made the loss of control worse.
That night she struggled more and more, until finally her entire body shifted and changed into one identical to Sheratan's. That morning she woke a human again, Sheratan at her side, hearing news of a body found mangled and clawed as if by a large cat.
Anything extra: Farria, as a warg, has a kin animal. Hers is Sheratan the snow leopard;
