Clarissa went to cast away the person who dared to touch her when she was so angry when she heard his voice, a voice that she wanted to hear again and was willing to destroy herself to hear. Yet how was Rerukusu able to touch her now and speak to her when earlier he could just barely talk to her? The girl stopped her constant drawing of energy and hugged Reru close to her while she sobbed uncontrollably, no longer able to think or do anything other than me thankful that he was alive. H...how are y..you alive, Reru? Y...you dis...disappeared f...from my sight and th...then l...looked like a sp...spirit. Clarissa was barely able to get out the words as she spoke through the sobbing but her mind had to figure out how to comprehend this. It was just to bizarre to think that one minute she was in the capital in her chambers and the next she was about to be a Nether Shade just to save her brother and yet he was understanding and even trying to save her from what a terrible mistake that would have been for her.

Reru held Clarissa close to him relieved she'd stopped. The last thing he wanted was to see harm come to her like this. He wasn't sure exactly what his sister had been planning to do, but he had known it surely wouldn't have been good. If he had died he realized he would've wanted Clarissa to be happy not to do such a thing. "You finally understand," Avendel said to him a burning joy filled her thoughts. "I'm so sorry Avendel," he replied. Avendel had felt the same way he did about Clarissa just now. He'd harmed himself in order to bring her back and done unspeakable acts to do so. He tighten his grip around his sister as tears fell from his face for the first time in decades. He could cry again.
He slowly descended to let Clarissa stand on the ground but kept his wings out. "I'm not sure what happened, but I am alive. My crystal is still intact and it's fully in the third stage now," he said. It was almost instinct that he knew it had completed the change. He wasn't sure what it meant but he wasn't dead. Maybe his spirit like appearance was part of the third stage. But finding out would have to wait. "You came even though I told you not to...thank you," he said. He was glad she was here.

((Sorry if my posts begin to get crappy but I'm currently hating on February because my girlfriend has gone missing and hasn't been heard from since the 2nd.))
Clarissa smiled and disengaged her arms from her brother as soon as their feet touched the ground lightly while she brushed her hair from her face and wiped away a few stray tears. Somehow he was still alive and that was all that really mattered, not how but that it was still possible even though she had come here thinking she would find him dead. I wasn't going to come here but I saw you disappear when you collapsed and I couldn't see you anymore when meditating so I got up and stormed out of the room. Now I think Ilm might be half dead from fear because a quill ended up in my door before I left and came here using spells that I should not have attempted. Then I saw you were close to dead and so I dumped the rest of the antitoxin down your throat and curled up passing out next to you from exhaustion. Then you looked like a spirit and I was going to change everything by reversing time to bring you back and it was going to work because I would make it work.

( I'm sorry to hear that. I hope February gets better for you.)
Reru smiled somewhat amused when she mentioned Ilm. "He'll be alright eventually," he said. The boy had been Reru's servant from some time and once in a while Reru had done more than snap at him for doing something wrong. He'd once blasted him with fire for bothering him. If Ilm could take that a quill and a few spells should be recoverable.
He glanced at the empty cup with the antitoxin only now just realizing she'd given it to him. She probably had saved his life by giving him the rest of it. "Reversing time...Clarissa that probably would've killed you," he said. He'd looked into reversing time with magic himself when Avendel had died but hadn't found any possible way to do it successfully. He'd resorted to using a cruxis crystal instead. Something that still wasn't the best idea. He shook his head. "Please never try to do that again even if I'm dead and don't break your word on it this time. The last thing I'd wish to happen to you is that," he said. "But for now, we should get back. Maybe we can figure out exactly what happened to me later," he added. He turned and picked up his crystal putting it back on his chest before taking Clarissa's hand and opening a rift in The Nether big enough for them and Avendel to enter.
The destination of the rift, Eminent Pisyche. The main citadel of the Physic Branch. The place was every bit as plush and fancy as Galbatorix's palace. They could talk there without interruption. He let Avendel go through the rift first then led Clarissa through it. They were in the main thrown room of the Citadel, the side wall open to the large courtyard. It was quiet, it always was. "You are welcome to rest here if you'd like, or I can take you back to Urubaen," he offered.

((Okay because Castien is gunna be a Psychic rider and such I have a really bad idea for his life right about now.))
Clarissa walked through the rift while thinking about what Reru had said about how time reversal would have killed her and that he didn't want her to die no matter what. As soon as they stepped through though, she looked up and stopped briefly, hair hanging in her face but her eyes widened as a man walked by with his head high and all of that good jazz. He was carrying something but she couldn't tell what it was and that didn't matter for he was...he was beautiful, for lack of another word to describe it. His white hair and royal attire made his muscular body seem to shine as he flashed a smile that was completely white and blinding in this darkness.
The white haired elf in royal clothing who's smiling, what's his name? Her voice was soft and filled with awe as her gaze was dreamy and she sighed while walking further. Clarissa continued to stare at Castien until he disappeared before she turned to look at Reru with barely contained worry and fear. What's his name? How old is he? Why is he here in the Nether? Is he nice? Does he have a significant other?

(Ah okay, thanks.)
Reru glanced at the man who walked by, in a way it was a painful reminder for him that he was a half elf and impure, or was his cruxis crystal had changed that though his appearance for the moment remained the same. Such a sudden change in topic, but it didn't matter. He suddenly realized that Clarissa probably had never been to the Citadel before. As far as he knew she was the first non branch member to be brought here since the restoration of the branches. "Castien? How should I know have no idea why he is here or how he got here. As for age, you try asking an elf that without insulting them," he said. The few Elves he'd met had always been aloof and anytime he'd asked their age they'd acted insulted and put out. Maybe not all elves were that way but all the ones Reru had met were.
In a way he was a bit upset by Clarissa's reaction to the other man. They'd always been close and if she got attached to someone like Castien there was a chance they'd drift apart. He swept the thought aside for now though. He placed a hand on his crystal willing his appearance to change, instantly his clothes changed to his formal branch attire and he looked older with slightly longer hair. Something more befitting the Elder of the branch. Avendel seemed to roll her eyes at this then turned and flew off to who knew where. Reru then reached out with his mind to Castien. "You walk my halls but you are not of us. Why are you here Castien?" he asked.

Castien blinked for a second and stopped before looking over and seeing the Elder of the Psychic Branch with someone who could possibly be his sister or someone close to him. Well this was interesting with his, talents, but Castien had to go to find out about the Branch. So he walked over and bowed slightly before starting the elven greeting. "Elder Rerukusu, Fair Lady, I am sorry to bother you when you are busy meeting and talking but I must discuss with the Elder about this Branch to find out what I am in store for. I just became a rider and the dragon is purple so I need to know exactly what will happen to me now." Castien smiled charmingly at Clarissa before turning to Rerukusu and adopting a calm look with a curious edge to it.
Clarissa bubbled over with curiosity but she could see that it somehow made Reru upset that she was asking about Castien when he was bringing her here to talk. She sighed and took Reru's hand to squeeze it gently. I saved you Reru because you are my brother but I am still allowed to fawn over other people no matter who they may be or what you may think of them. I'm sorry if that upsets you but it is the truth and I will try not to be too obsessive with finding out about Castien while I'm talking to you. Just as she finished her words though, Clarissa saw Castien walk up and he bowed slightly before calling her a fair lady which made her giggle girlishly. Such foolish behavior never happened before and it was confusing now but Clarissa was certain that Castien was flirting with her even though her brother was there. He was either very brave, very foolish, or very powerful with people of great power backing him up as well. Then she saw the resemblance to someone else in this man, Brenton Bromsson looked very similar to Castien. So Castien was elven royalty as well, now that was news that would anger father if he knew about it.

When Clarissa squeezed his hand he glanced down at his hand almost alarmed to see the crystal skin was still around his wrist. He'd nearly forgotten about that. He knew what it was though and he needed to take care of it and soon, for that he'd need Clarissa's help. She might have saved him once now but she'd have to do it again now. He'd speak to her later after this though. Besides he didn't really have time before Castien had entered the room. He rolled his eyes when Clarissa giggled girlishly. Couldn't she control herself? Acting in such a way in Galbatorix's court would never have been accepted.
Reru did not return the elven greeting but instead just nodded. He didn't like to pretend he had even been part elf at one time so he often refused to participate in the greeting. He glanced at the dragon then to Castien. "What happens if up to you. Surely either my father will come after you or perhaps your uncle, Brenton might want you as a Rider," he said. He had made a point to familiarize himself with many of the more notable persons in the world. He knew most if not all the nobles of Galbatorix's court and new of many of the other rulers in the country. He'd been a bit surprised Clarissa hadn't known Casiten. "Unless you mean to join me and the Physic Branch. We can extend your powers far more than Galbatorix or Brenton could," he said. "But having a purple dragon doesn't necessarily mean you can join us. If you want to join us you must prove your keenness of mind as well as your dragon's," he added.

Clarissa looked at Castien and smiled shyly as she spoke to the elf man who had walked over to talk to Rerukusu. If you join the Empire then maybe you can help me in my search for the perfect poison against a dragon spirit. I...I would really like to be able to talk to you more but it's unlikely I can go to Ellesmera because of my father and Reru here might ban me from the citadel just so I can't see you or talk to you anymore. Please Castien, think about it...for me? Quickly the daughter of Galbatorix looked anywhere but at the two men who were there with her. Reru was probably angry with her for her suggestion to Castien while the elf prince was probably creeped out by her.
On the contrary though, Castien was nodding as he listened to Clarissa speak about going to Uru'baen to be able to spend time with her. For you, I would speak to anybody and get you permission into Ellesmera. I would travel the world and tear down the Beor Mountains. To see you everyday I would climb Ristvak'baen and destroy the ancient building up there just to erect a temple in your honor. I would pull the moon from the sky and give it to you as a ring. Clarissa, I would do all of these things but I can't join the Empire for the Forsworn killed my family before I was born and the soldiers took my uncle before he could hardly fight.

If Clarissa hadn't been head over heels for him before it only got worse in Reru's mind. "Clarissa I would never ban you from my Citadel no matter what happened," he said. She was the only one besides Avendel that meant everything to him and he knew it would be impossible for him to ban her and never see her again. As if to worsen it, Castien spoke what he thought was perhaphs the single cheesiest line he'd ever heard. Reru certainly had never been one for romance or sweet talk like this. "Castien, if your only intention is to flirt with my sister with sickening sweet words then you have no more business to remain here or waste my time. Did you only come here to see my sister or do you actually come here for a reason," he asked. He was tired of all this and if it wasn't bad enough hearing all this he felt in the middle of which was quite awkward. Besides he didn't want his sister hurt should Castien find another girl more attractive or worthy of his attention. He might not have banned Clarissa from the Citadel but Castien...maybe.
Besides that he felt an urgency to take care of the crystal skin on his arm. He knew if he didn't do anything about it, it would grow and cover more of him until it killed him. By his guess he had only two weeks before it would become fatal and he needed Clarissa's help to mix the proper cure for it. As only a very skilled herbalist could do it right, doing it wrong would make it a deathly toxin and the only way to know if it was done right or not was to drink it and see what happened. He needed Clarissa and if Castien took her away now he wasn't sure what he'd do.

Oh do lighten up, Reru, dear brother. I am not leaving you right now and that crystal takes the highest importance over my feelings. Castien maybe we can talk in a couple days on the eve of the second day from today. Meet me at the edge of Du Weldenvarden bordering the Empire and the Hadarac. I'll see you then but until then please do allow my brother and I to talk in private. Oh and if you think you will hurt me then know I am powerful and have toxins that no one can cure without the antitoxins that only I can administer.
Without waiting for Castien to leave, Clarissa turned around and pulled Rerukusu toward an inner chamber where they could mix together whatever was needed or find out what was happening to him. I'm sorry, Reru, for I did not mean to be so obvious in my behavior with Castien. I'll concentrate and will always be around for you but please don't ignore him or ban him just because he flirts with me.

How was it that Clarissa always seemed to know what was bothering him most even when he hadn't voiced his concerns. That was something that he liked the most about her, she understood him when no one else did. Even Avendel sometimes misunderstood him but Clarissa never did. He followed his sister without another word into the inner chamber. A single desk occupied one side of the wall with a large window offering a nice view of The Nether. "It just I don't want to see him steal your heart and hurt you," he said. He didn't mean hurt like stab her with a dagger, but hurt her emotionally. "I have no reason yet to ban him," he added. He'd need more reason than that though granted Reru's unstable nature if he hurt Clarissa he probably would lash out against Castien.
He took off his cloak and drapped it across the desk in the room before pushing back his sleeve to reveal the crystals on his wrist. "My body is rejecting the crystal's new stage, crystalization as the old scrolls call it. Tear of the Maiden, Tarfus root, a dragon scale and a flower that blooms during the full moon if I recall are the components of the cure, though this is more your area of expertise," he said knowing he might have missed something or a detail of it. It had been quite some time since he'd read about the crystalization. Essentially it would turn his body into a crystal and he'd be confined to the cruxis crystal in a state between death and living unable to die or reform his body. Even as he spoke the crystals seem to grow up his arm another inch before halting as though waiting to rest before continuing to over take him. "I can't move my wrist as it is," he said a slight catch of worry in his voice. The crystals had hardened around his wrist making it immobile like a cast. He wasn't sure how long it would take to gather the materials and to properly mix them took time as well.

Clarissa looked at the crystal and grabbed Reru's arm to examine it more closely with a little more detail. There was definitely no flaw in the crystal and it was of the same properties as the cruxis crystal that her brother used. She took a dagger and slammed it against the crystal just to have the blade shatter into four pieces with only a small piece of crystal on the table. That would have to work for her purposes at the moment.
Clarissa took a vial of acid from her pouch on her belt and a small brush that she normally didn't use. The brush was enchanted to withstand the properties of most acids and this one was in that group. A small drop of acid on the crystal and a few minutes of brushing it in revealed that the crystal couldn't just be melted by the corrosive liquid.
Finally the girl looked back at Reru and shook her head with a sigh that let him know she was stumped. Crystals are supposed to break without shattering a dagger blade. They also shouldn't be able to resist the effects of one of the strongest acids I have. This is confusing and powerful stuff which means it requires a scale of your dragon, Tear of the Maiden, Tarfus root, and two of those flowers as well as more energy then I can manage.

Reru was alarmed when Clarissa grabbed his arm and slammed the dagger against it. He'd half expected to see the dagger penetrate and protrude through the other side of his arm. He wasn't sure if he could feel pain or not now and wasn't really eager to find out after going though what he had only a few hours ago. He was somewhat relieved that crystal had protected him. In the least though he should've felt the impact or had a bruise from that, but he hadn't. He picked up part of the shattered blade and sliced his finger on it's edge, no pain. Apparently he still was immune to feeling pain, almost to his disappointment. Setting aside the shard he watched Clarissa attempt to damage the crystal that had broken off. Had it work he wondered if she had the intention of nearly amputating his arm with the acid. He would've not felt the pain but it still would damage his flesh.
"It's dark magic," he said as if that were the only explanation he had for what had happened. Magic like that was hard to predict and often had harmful consequences. "I can provide you with as much energy as you need, as for the rest unless you have those in stock we'll have to find them. I know where to find the Tear of a Maiden but I don't know about the others," he said. Being such rare ingredients he doubted Clarissa had all of them. Maybe one but surely not all of them. The energy was no problem for him. With his connection to Ender he could get as much of that as was needed. The guardian was the source of the most massive amount of energy he'd ever found.

The flower bloom in the moonlight on the southern side of Ristvak'baen toward the peak. It is hidden by a spell cast by Vrael because it is commonly used for dark magic. There is another location of the flower at the very tallest heights of Helgrind, accessible only by the hidden stair case carved of stone that is in the spire where the Ra'zac reside. They have protected that location for years but it is now time for us to put more protection there as the Ra'zac were killed by Eragon.
Tarfus Root is in my supplies back at Uru'baen since it is the easiest of these to come by. So that we can get rather quickly and I hope you can get a couple of Avendel's scales for this otherwise we will have to get a lot more dragon scales and they will have to be of dragons that are really old to replace Avendel's. The Tear of the Maiden is your expertise so that I'll leave for you.
Clarissa thought carefully and then she sighed in defeat. Before we start on this I have to know. Will you be angry or upset if I left Uru'baen to live in Ellesmera? Castien said he would talk to Brenton and the king never had any issues with me that I know of. Clarissa wasn't trying to be distracted as much as she was trying to decide if it was going to be worth leaving. She stayed in the Empire only because she didn't like the Varden and she got to see Rerukusu when he showed up. No one else there ever gave her a reason to stay and in Ellesmera she was certain she wouldn't have to fight in the war. Maybe she could open a shop and start selling antitoxins and toxins that only she knew how to make.

Reru listened as she explained the places for each of the items, he was glad she knew where to find them, that by itself would save them time. Her finals words caught him though and he hesitated in replying. He glanced away for a moment as if composing himself. Returning his gaze to her, his face near unreadable he spoke. "Very," he said. It was a single word but it conveyed exactly how he felt. In a way he despised elves and humans both making Ellesmera not a place he liked to go. Had he a choice he would've stayed permanently at the citadel here. And as Galbatorix's son he'd never be trusted there anyways. "But...I want you to be happy. If that's what you really want, I'd let you go," he said. It was painful to say, but he did want her happy and forcing her to stay just because he'd miss her was not a good reason to deny her that.
"Circumstances considered I bet Avendel would allow me one of her scales now. Ristyak'baen is closer to Vroengard. But distance doesn't matter. Will you be coming with me to Vroengard to get the Tear of the Maiden?" he asked not meaning to change the subject but knowing that had to be addressed along with her painful question.

((Well...Clarissa is in a bind here now.))
Clarissa's throat tightened and she fought back tears as she thought of how Reru was going to be upset with her for going somewhere that she would want to go. It was understandable that he wasn't a friend of the elves or the humans but she wasn't accepted anywhere by anyone other than Rerukusu. If Castien accepted her for who she was then she would be forced to choose between her brother and him. Finally she nodded and forced a smile onto her face that hurt more than holding in her feelings.
Of course I'm going with you, Reru, especially since the last time you left by yourself you nearly died. I'm not letting that happen again no matter what so you're stuck with me. Clarissa gathered the acid and brush together and put them away before she looked at Rerukusu and her disappointment showed just briefly on her face.

Reru smiled faintly at her comment. Last time he'd gone alone he knew that dead was a likely outcome which is why he'd insisted on going alone. This was far less dangerous but he offered no complaint. He was glad she was going with him, he didn't get to spend all that much time with her usually and if she went to Ellesmera this could be one of the last times. "I won't argue that," he said. "We'll leave tomorrow then for Vroengard then," he said. Time wasn't exactly on their side but after what they'd been through they would be better off well rested than making a mistake from fatigue. They could use the Nether to be there in an instant so there would be no time wasted on travel. He wasn't sure where Avendel had gone but he needed to ask her for a scale.
Reru went to pick up his cloak off the desk, but instead his hand passed through both it and the desk. He looked alarmed as he glanced at his sister then held up his hand to look at it. He didn't appear to be transparent but his hand had passed through the desk. It was like his hand had turned to a thick mist that had reformed after he had cleared the desk. Willing his hand to make contact he tried again and without any trouble he picked up the cloak and draped it on his arm. "Second time now..." he said sounding a bit unnerved.
( Hm I think I need to write down all the crystal stuff. xP The reason behind this is the third stage of his crystal, only a crystal in the third stage can do it. )
