Many miles Away from Aroughs, a large cat stalked his prey. his eyes flashed ice blue under the moon, and his fur blended into the night soaked foliage coating the land. The cat's paws had to be at least three inches from side to side, and his shoulder two feet off the ground. "This beast is no cat" you might say? Well, you wouldn't be ALL wrong, you see, Paise is a Werecat, a creature that can shift between human and animal forms at will. Paise just enjoys cat form when hunting, preferring silent steps over ranged weapons. The mouse he had been hunting caught Paise's scent and sprinted for its barrow. Paise yowled in frustration, he was not the kind to lose his prey! He surged forward, letting his massive paws mash into the moist ground with his tremendous strength. This propelled him at an immense speed towards the mouse. The tiny creature Squealed with fear as Paise closed his maw around its neck, ending its miserable existence. Paise promptly picked up the mouse and walked swiftly towards the city lights of Aroughs.
Paise had been walking for some time now, He thought that, even in the dark, the city would have come into view long ago... "No! I am being foolish, its right over the next hill I am sure of it!" Paise kept going, a little faster now, and soon he noticed that the trees were getting bigger, and with protruding gnarled roots. All of a sudden, the light disappeared!!! Paise turned about, where had it gone? The forest looked extremely different than Paise remembered, and he started to really freak out, just then, the light reappeared right above him. It circled around him slowly, then came close and touched him on the nose. Paise went absolutely still as pure energy surged through the point of contact, flowing through his veins. then, words surged through his mind, the words of a language used in the ancient days. Paise knew not what they meant, and decided to address a magician later on their meaning. The light wandered off into the distance, urging Paise to follow, then strong hands grabbed him, holding him back......

Some called the werelights instant death or a portal to eternal wandering as that was what they were meant to cause you to do but there were a race of people who braved this land to challenge the lights and grow in strength. The race, elves, often times were seen running through trees anyhow and just like them, a tall a muscular half elf was running through the trees. His lineage wasn't actually half elf and half human but more human than elf yet he was still a Halfling in the eyes of the world so that was what he would be called. Lights flared up around the trees and bobbed into and out of existence just for a second before causing the soldier to look at them.
In his hands were twin silver blades while he was garbed in silver and green armor with brown clothing underneath. Over his shoulders was a brown and green cloak that had a hood covering his pure silver hair and exotic facial structure marking him as a Halfling. Kriss Dillonsson, for that was who this was running through the trees with his eyes darting back and forth, was keeping a close look at all of the werelights. His mind was calm and his motions were smooth as his feet made no sounds when they touched the ground but he couldn't quite clear every fear from them.
What if this was going to be his deathbed like the tavern was for Brenton's dragon after he had been saved and forced to watch the king run away? Or maybe this would be where he would get stronger and surpass even the mythical fallen angels in strength yet that would mean he would be a wanderer. Who cared if he was a wanderer anyhow since right now all he was out to do was find his daughter and fiancée to keep them safe from that shade.
Suddenly Kriss could see a cat running toward him and stopping to look around at lights that bobbed in front of it. The cat looked like it was going to chase the light so Kriss was glad when suddenly someone grabbed it and held it still, until he realized it was an Empire soldier. Growling deep in his throat, Kriss threw one of his swords and watched as it flew into the Empire soldier's chest, just to the left of the heart. Kriss saw as the Empire soldier released the cat and he dropped into a crouch with his other sword raised in a defensive position just in case.

((OOC: did you intend to use the names Kriss AND Brenton? just noticed that... Or are they the same?))
Paise turned Instantly as the hand grabbed him eager to bring death to whoever had touched him. Paise didn't like being touched at all especially by humans. Paise sunk his teeth into the throat of the attacker, though as he did so and the mans blood filled Paise's maw and dribbled down his chin, he realized that the man had a long slender sword poking out from his chest, run through from back to front. Paise looked around, he couldn't see anyone visible, but the forest was very dark, and there could be one or more onlookers. Paise shrugged the idea off, and proceeded to clean his muzzle in the moonlight. A twig cracked and Paise heard an oath sworn. Yes someone was definitely watching. Paise hoped it was a friend, he really didn't want any more assailants...
((OOC: Brenton, do you want to invite one more person? Pm Me.))

Kriss stood up with his sword already going into the sheathe across his back while he walked toward the cat that was cleaning itself in the moonlight. That cat had seemed just a little to intelligent to be a normal cat so the Halfling was ready for anything as he brought words of binding to the front of his mind. Better safe than sorry and he didn't like the thought of killing this cat after he had just saved it with a sword being thrown through an Empire soldier. Suddenly Kriss remembered that he had to get his sword back from the dead man who was on the ground so he bent over and withdrew the blade, seeing blood drip from the silver metal. Such gruesomeness used to make him queasy back when he was a child but Kriss couldn't afford to let that happen right now.
"Well, strange happenings always occur in the trees. Except what makes you so special to an Empire soldier who couldn't even see a silver sword before it hit his chest?" Kriss spoke to the cat as he stayed at a safe distance and wiped his sword clean with a cloth, making sure to get all of the blood and mud off of it before sheathing it again. No sense in having a dirty weapon that would cause it to rust and eventually break even if it was crafted by a grey folk metalworker.

Paise let a sharp yelp out of his throat as he felt the pressure asserted on his fore and hind legs. Magic. Swore Paise through clenched fangs. Paise knew he was trapped unless his honeyed words could assure the second assailant of their imminent friendship. Paise took note of his surroundings, plotting a potential escape route once he had freed himself from his bonds, if that was even possible. "Mrowrr.. First that upstart Soldier, now, you, another of the huge mean humans who hunt me endlessly no doubt. How could my day POSSIBLY get any better? I was just hunting that damn mouse then I got lost in this... Place... and then HIM, and now YOU... and that mouse and OH! I am getting so tounge tied! this is some... " Paise started to cry in his soft little cat voice, tiny tears snaking over the invisible bonds.
