Full Name: Arya, house of Evandar
Other name:
Race: Elf
Side: Varden
Birthplace: Ellesmera, Du Weldenvarden
Age: one hundred and two
Gender: Female
Birthday: Early spring
Eyes: Bright green, angled
Hair: Black, straight, often held back with a leather tie
Weight: 152 pounds
Height: 5’ 11”
Magic User: Arya is extremely fluent in the many uses of magic, hers often appearing in shades of green.
Preferred Weapon(s): A one-handed sword, magic, mental prowess.
Appearance: Arya is taller than most human men but average for an elven woman, with a narrow build and well-earned muscles. Her hair is dark and smooth, and she typically keeps it neat, simple and out of her way, since vanity has little place in her world. She prefers wearing clothes that will not tear or stain, nor show easily in the dark, so when she’s outside of Du Weldenvarden she is most often found wearing a tunic and breeches of dark leather, with her sword at her right hip, being as she’s left-handed. Her expression is cool, rarely deviating from polite attention or sternness, but when she does show emotion she shows it fiercely.
Personality: Few people consider Arya a close friend, and she considers few people friends of hers. Though not entirely comfortable around members of other races, or even among members of her own, Arya is entirely comfortable with herself and the lifestyle she’s chosen. She does her duty, often exceeding it in others’ eyes, and has never seriously considered living any other way. Her duty is to her world, her people, and even to those she does not know, because what good is a world that does not try to improve itself? The way she sees it, living beings, even animals and plants, assist one another—that is the way of life. Those who do not give assistance to others when they are capable of doing so are therefore no longer living, and thus are hardly worth keeping around. At best they are a nuisance. At worst it is hardly murder to kill a dead thing.
--->Likes: Peace, music, dance, celebration, a challenge, courtesy, logical argument
--->Dislikes: Foolishness, aggression, possessiveness, arrogance, war
--->Strengths: Perseverance, self-reliance, magic, silence
--->Weakness: Discomfort among others, socialization, her own opinions when she believes others are living their lives incorrectly
Family: Father, Evandar. Mother, Islanzadi. Grandmother, Dellanir.
History: Arya was born a year before the fall of the Riders, and has never known a world other than one in which they had destroyed one another. As such, she spent the first thirty years of her life in strenuous training so that she could nudge her world toward a stronger future. She was only in her thirties when she, against the will of her mother, became the elven ambassador to the Varden—a place she has held for seventy years—and when she was in her eighties she was appointed a courier of Saphira’s egg in the hopes that there was just one person in Alagaesia she would hatch for.
It was while she and two of her companions were ambushed by Durza and his minions, and while Glenwing and Faolin, a dear friend of hers, were killed and she was captured, she did manage to magically transport Saphira’s egg inadvertently to Eragon. Durza spent months trying to wrench her knowledge of the Varden and of the elves out of her fiercely guarded mind, nearly causing her to lose it entirely in the arduous process, but Arya prevailed. Her people, she knew, were more important than she was. One mind was not worth the lives of many, therefore she had to endure. Besides, with the poison she was repeatedly being given, even if she was rescued the toxin would kill her. Her captors were the only ones that could keep her alive.
Arya was unconscious when Eragon found and rescued her, but was entirely capable of disarming and containing him when he tried to reach into her mind to contact her. She told him of the poison, gave him the directions to the Varden, and slept again, telling him not to rouse her again unless they weren’t going to make it to the Varden, in which case she had information that needed to be passed on. But since they did reach the Varden in time to save her, she didn’t need to.
Once well again, Arya returned to her previous position of ambassador, and maintained a close presence to Eragon and Saphira due to her responsibilities to them as well. Since then, she has continued to follow and assist the Varden and the elves in any possible way she can.
