Full Name: Roran Garrowsson
Other name: Stronghammer, Lackhammer (in jest for not having a hammer in battle), Garrowsson, Hero of Aroughs, Bane of the Ra'zac
Race: (human, elf, half-elf, urgal, dwarf, etc) Human
Side: (varden, empire, neutral, other) Varden
Birthplace: Carvahall
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Birthday: 7983 AC
Eyes: Grey
Hair: Brown
Weight: 230 lbs
Height: 6'0''
Magic User: No
Preferred Weapon(s): A hammer that he picked up when in Horst's forge about to go to battle against the Razac but he has also used a spear before.
Appearance:
Roran was older than Eragon but younger than Murtagh. He had shaggy brown hair, his eyes were gray in color, and a muscular and sturdy build from long days wielding a hammer in battles fought with the villagers. During Eldest, he grew a beard to make it more difficult for his enemies to recognize him from the attacks on Carvahall and later in Narda as well where he had slain the guards to pass. He carried a hammer with him almost everywhere through personal preference, though he occasionally also used a sword, spear, and shield.
Personality: Roran is very blunt and straight-forward in most situations, getting straight to the heart of the problem without over thinking things. He is calm, on a good day, and very aggressive on a bad day. The human has a temper that is hard to goad but not something you want to see when it does happen. Roran is strong of heart and pure of soul, a family man as well as a hard working young man. He does not believe in laziness or taking the easy way out although he doesn't see the point of working harder when a smarter approach presents itself. He is loving to Katrina and Ismira as well as to his cousin Eragon but they are his weaknesses above all else.
--->Likes: Varden, Eragon, Katrina, Carvahall, Farming, Hard work, Freedom
--->Dislikes: Galbatorix, Empire, Shades, Ra'zac, Sloan, Traitors, Laziness

--->Weakness: Katrina, Ismira, Eragon, Carvahall
Family:
Garrow - Father (deceased)
Marian - Mother (deceased)
Eragon Bromsson - Cousin (Varden Rider)
Murtagh Morzansson - Cousin (Empire Rider)
Katrina - Wife (Varden)
Ismira - Daughter (Varden)
Sloan - Father in law (Ellesmera as an outcast)
Ismira - Mother in law (deceased)
Selena - Aunt (deceased)
*Morzan - Uncle (deceased)
*Brom - Uncle (deceased)
Cadoc - Grandfather (deceased)
* Brom and Morzan are uncles or Roran's because they were both married to Selena who was Garrow's sister. Now Brom would be an uncle once removed (or something) and Morzan would be an uncle.
History:
Roran was born in Carvahall of Palancar Valley in the Empire to Garrow and Marian. He grew up with his cousin, who he thought was his brother, Eragon until they separated ways later in life only to meet again on a later date under different circumstances. Roran was raised as a farm boy out in the country, learning the meaning of hard work and perseverance above everything else, even though it meant that they were poor. He never complained about his lot in life and often thought of other ways to make money if he needed it for something that he wanted.
Roran grew up for years in Carvahall as the older relative of Eragon but that didn't matter because he fell in love with Katrina Ismirasdaughter and grew fearful and shy around her. So the boy went out of his way to ask Eragon for help and often gave him notes to pass to the girl until Sloan found out and separated them. When this happened the started planning on getting married but Roran was too honest to elope and wanted Sloan's blessing.
Although for that to happen he needed more money and a house of his own so the boy set out for Therinsford to work at the mill for more money. He planned on making enough to return and get a house and start a life with enough to impress Katrina's doubtful father with. It was at this time that the attack on the farm happened and Roran was given a message to return to Carvahall. When he returned he discovered that Garrow had been killed and Eragon mysteriously fled the town for reasons unknown.
So Roran stayed to figure out what to do but they were attacked once more by the Ra'zac and the villagers were rallied by Roran to build defenses in the small town to help keep them safe. As they hid behind the barricades, he had weapons and shields made, even getting with some of the villagers to discuss a plan. More attacks were held and Roran was forced to flee to the Spine but he couldn't bear to let his home be destroyed just for his safety.
So Roran returned and together with the villagers they rose again and attacked once more, driving the Ra'zac back for what they thought was the last time. That night they celebrated and another attack happened that Roran took to heart, Sloan betrayed them and Katrina was taken captive from him. So he rallied the villagers of Carvahall and led them through the Spine, heading for the Varden to join them.
On the way they went through Narda where he found out that there was a bounty on his head and he grew a beard to hide his features more from the soldiers. They continued down the coast to Teirm where they got supplies and met Jeod who helped them steal a ship that they took to the Varden. In Surda, the battle was waged when they arrived and the twins were attacking people, so Roran crept behind them and bashed their heads in.
He was able to help win that battle and then met his cousin again, and Eragon's dragon Saphira, who he knew nothing about. They made up and told their tales as Eragon helped Roran get to know everyone. After the niceties were dealt with, Eragon and Roran went after the Ra'zac who had killed Brom and Garrow both, both of their fathers. They killed them, or Roran did anyhow, and returned with Katrina to the Varden.
Back in the Varden, a wedding was planned because Roran found out that he was going to be a father soon. As the wedding was getting closer, he was told the day after he would be going on a mission with the troops. The wedding was held and the troops left, heading out with Roran in their ranks. On that mission he was surrounded for insubordination but the captain still gave a good report. Although Roran refused to let Nasuada give him special consideration for him being related to Eragon.
Roran was put in charge of a group of soldiers that he led into battles across the country. The man fought a kull, who thought he was unfit to lead, and won to show he was leader and there was no insubordination allowed. It was Roran and his soldiers who played a large part in battles that helped get as far in the war as the Varden is.
