Full Name: Velathan Arrallsson (Trevelyan)
Other name: -
Race: Human
Side: Varden
Birthplace: A small estate just outside of Belatona.
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Birthday: January 31st
Eyes: Dark brown.
Hair: Dark brown.
Weight: 175 lbs.
Height: 6'3
Magic User: No.
Preferred Weapon(s): A hand-and-a-half longsword due to it's versatility and the way he is able to use it both indoors and out, without a shield and with one.
Appearance: Velathan stands at 6'3, which is higher in height than many other men, but he is far from being the tallest. Although coming from a southern city and spending much time outside in the sun, Velathan never seems to tan, but rather stays the same slightly pale shade and burns quite easily. Dark, medium-length hair, that is, to say not too short and not too long frames his face and he usually keeps a bit of a stubble, but occasionally allows it to grow slightly longer.. Even when not traveling or fighting, Velathan can usually be found wearing at least light leather armour, usually reinforced with small strips of mail at weak points. In battle, however, he either wears a full set of his own specially-crafted mail from his family estate, or a set of plate that he got off of a dead Imperial officer, however, he rarely wears it, preferring to be to be lighter on his feet than weighed down by full-plate.
Personality: Velathan isn't a particulalry sociable character, at least not when it comes to talking in fornt of large groups of people, but often finds it far easier to talk to smaller groups or individuals and usually enjoys a good conversation. He hates the Empire with a passion, partly due to how he finds Galbatorix to be a tyrant and also due to how his family has been secretly supporting the Varden since Galbatorix came to power, however, he rarely shows it, preferring to appear calm at all times. Although trying to appear calm, Velathan is actually angered quite easily, especially by acts he deems wrong or unfair, or insults towards himself or his friends, as he's a proud man. Despite this, he has a strong sense of morality and will usually strive to do whatever he feels is best for the most people, not only for himself.
--->Likes: Loyalty, Justice, the Varden, Honesty, Courage, Swordsmanship.
--->Dislikes: Cowards, Criminals, the Empire.
--->Strengths: A formidable swordsman by human standards, light on his feet and tough.
--->Weakness: Easily angered, distrusts other races such as the Urgals for their actions in the past, poor speaker.
Family: A mother (Evelyn) and father (Arrall) near Belatona. He has a brother, who he hasn't been in contact with in some time.
History: Velathan was born to the main branch of House Trevelyan, a minor noble family near Belatona, who own an estate just outside of the city walls. His family opposed Galbatorix when he rose to power, and have continued to do so, by secretly aiding the Varden and harbouring Varden messengers and agents on their journeys. However, Velathan is the first member of his family who has actually joined the Varden as he felt as if he needed to do something to help, rather than just sit around and wait for something beyond his control to happen. Growing up, Velathan learnt as much as he could, having a teacher for literacy and reading, which he disliked but felt is was necessary, a teacher who taught him to ride a horse, and by extent, a war horse, which he enjoyed but he often prefers to fight on foot. Finally, his favourite teacher was called Cedrac and he taught Velathan the arts of warfare and swordsmanship, enabling him to slowly improve and then hone his fighting ability over a number of years. The hand-and-a-half sword that Velathan uses was also a gift from Cedrac, before he departed for the Varden.
He finally made his choice to join the Varden when he saw a small group of peasants, presumably traveling to sell some of their harvest or other goods, get accosted by a group of Galbatorix's soldiers. Nothing could have been done to help them, however, as he wasn't carrying a weapon or any armour with him, and trying to talk them down would have just gotten him killed. After seeing the injustice the Empire allowed, he headed back to his home, said goodbye to his family and began a long journey from Belatona to Surda, where he heard the Varden were currently being hosted by King Orrin. Trying to avoid encountering any patrols and busy roads, he mostly traveled off-road, only taking stops for a night in small, discrete towns once in a while. Eventually, tired and on the verge of giving up, he arrived at Aberon, and promptly joined the Varden.
Seeing his first actual combat at the Battle of the Burning Plains, and witnessing the first Empire Rider attack Eragon, Velathan proved himself calm and capable under duress. He was sent on many raids deep into the Empire's territory and was eventually promoted to a minor officer under one of the Varden's captains. He also fought in the Battle of Feinster and the Siege of Belatona, where his family escaped unscathed, before accompanying the rest of the army to Uru'baen.
Anything extra: I'm planning to make Velathan a Rider later on.
