David raised an eyebrow and remained silent for a few minutes, collecting his thoughts He was not sure how to describe how it felt to cast spells. He finally decided to say "It's amazing, how if you have the energy and the knowledge of the Ancient Language, you can change anything in the world. you can summon any element, use it to your benefit. You know how Eragon's sword can catch fire out of nothing? that is thanks to magic. being able to do that makes you feel powerful.. but outside of the Varden, you are not praised for such power, instead you are thought freaks, something that must be controlled." he then shrugged "It is still scary to use at times, for you do not know if the spell you just cast may use up your remaining energy, killing you." He sighed, always in a battle he was scared if the spell he had just cast would leave him unable to fight, but knew each time the spell was necessary.

Velathan nodded. "I can see how using magic could cause people to alienate you. People naturally hate what they do not understand. Hmm, I assume that you can store magic in things, correct?" he inquired, thinking about how a magician must have some way of storing energy, otherwise they'd die from exhaustion in a week. He thought about places that it could be possibly stored in. All the Riders seemed to have large gems on their swords, maybe there? Or in a piece of jewellery, a ring maybe. Velathan wasn't quite sure about what the rules of storing magic were.

David was silent for a long time, wondering if he should share that fact with Velathan. While it was true it wasn't a well kept secret, it wasn't something Magicians shouted off the highest mountain tops. He then fingered his ring as he said "Not magic, but energy. Not from the sun obviously, but from our own problems. This ring here used to have loads of energy, for i had been storing little amounts in it for 10 years before the battle of Farthen Dur. In our time in Surda i stored even smaller amounts. I used the last of it in Dras Leona." he sighed, this battle would be the first that he had no extra energy in case he needed it.

((Guess I'll jump in here)) Sedine walked around a corner of a tent on the right of David. He walked past David and Velathan, walking with his hand on the pommel of his sword. So magic is a tricky business? Or is it sound more confusing than it really is? he said to David. Sedine sat on a nearby bench while talking to the nearby group. Sedine than placed his hands in a folded fashion on his thighs. Sedine was about to add to his question when he decided against it just waited for a response.

Velathan looked at Sedine in surprise, curious as to why somebody had interrupted their conversation, but quickly recovered himself and said "It seems to me that magic sounds confusing, but is fairly simple to nail down once you understand the basic principles of it. However, I am in no position to answer as I am no magician like David here.". He looked at the stranger intently, wondering if he had ever seen him before, but then decided that he hadn't and probably camped on the other side of the Varden's camp.

(Problems? I swear to god i said bodies.)
David looked at the new man that interrupted them, wondering if he should answer the mans question, or tell him to leave, that this conversation was private. he chose the first option and said "It is a tricky business indeed. If you had been here for the full conversation, you would understand why. I will sum it up though. you are limited by your knowledge of the ancient language, and the energy with in your own body. I know more words in the ancient language than most everyone in this camp, that are human at least, but if i taught them to a body builder magician, and he had enough practice with magic, he could cast more spells than me." He shrugged wondering why the man even bothered to stop, he was quite enjoying his talk with Velathan, since it had been so long since the last time David had spoken to someone freely.

Sedine had noticed the disturbance his odd arrival had caused and responded with I was wondering, never really had a chance to talk to a magician. Usually just practice or sharpen my swords. Sedine had seen many things achieved with magic but he never truly met a magician. The closest to a conversation had to be a dagger in a empire mage's neck. So how'd you come to the Varden anyway? he added pointing to David and Velathan. Sedine commonly didn't talk to people. He usually listened but he was interested in what was being spoken and curious, especially since he had gone as far as he could practicing to prepare for the upcoming battle.

Velathan crossed his arms and looked at the man. "First," he said "I'd like to know who you are." He didn't look like an Imperial spy, but you could never be too sure. The Varden's camp was likely secure, but it seemed odd for a random stranger to approach and listen in on their conversation about magic, and then try and learn about their pasts when they didn't even know the man's name. Velathan suspected that he was trustworthy, but he at least wanted to have something to call him by, before he reiterated how he joined the Varden.

Well than, I'm Sedine, came here a while ago, Imperial soldiers disguised themselves as bandits and killed my family. Felt like it was better to join the Varden after an attack on the bandits turned into a rescue mission. Much more interesting than sitting at in a village. Sedine smiled, he found the straight to the point, bluntness of the question odd for the people he's met, but liked it. So what's your name, and how you'd get here. pointing towards Velathan.

(*cough* lets keep to the posting order okay Spartan?)
David eyed the man and said darkly "That is privileged information sir. Who do you think you are? Intruding on someone's conversation and then asking them private information, which could be used against them if it came to it. I am going to warn you once, I still have enough strength to end your life. So I would choose your next words and actions VERY carefully" He did not like how this man had intruded on his conversation with Velathan.. the first person he had enjoyed a conversation with in years. The manner in which the man intruded did not please him either. He placed a hand on the hilt of his sword as he waited for the man to make the next move.
