Auduriel opened her mouth to speak, but shut it immediately as she watched the human perform the spell. "Most elves." She answered, her voice quaking with rage, as her dragon beat her wings and watched her Rider and David argue with each other. By now, a crowd had begun to gather- the lightning had caught people's attention, and it was a Rider fighting with a mage of the Varden. It didn't matter who won or lost, it was entertainment and people liked that.
"Important? Important?" The elf shouted. "Do you want to know what's important? Training. You parade over here with my dragon and tell me I'm lucky, and I disagree with you. You perform some flashy magic and say that that's proof that what you're saying is important? What more evidence do I need to prove that you're a fool? You've damned yourself, magician!"
David had pointed his sword at her and Auduriel responded with a similar show of hosility. She drew her sword and attempted to knock David's blade out of his hand. Auduriel was a skilled swordswoman, her skills exceeding those of most other elves or Riders, but her dragon would make sure that it didn't get too far. Besides, maybe David was more formidable than the dragon thought. She attempted to get at her Rider's mind, but she couldn't get Auduriel to listen to her no matter how much she pleaded.

David growled and parried the attack, backing up slightly. he knew he stood no chance to the elf who was faster and stronger than him. He was already weakened by the magic he had preformed. he just hoped the electricity would do its job in making her sword arm number with each strike. "Damned myself?" He growled "I damned myself the minute I joined this war. I know i stand no chance against Galbatorix, but is that going to stop me trying to get my revenge? No! My life is measured in days, not years." He took up a ready stance, in case this angered the elf enough to truly attack.
"I do not wish to harm your Rider." He told the dragon sadly with his mind "I just wish for her to see sense. To enjoy what time she has with you.. we could all be dead with in a few days."

The crowd continued to watch. If there had been a higher-ranking member of the Varden or another Rider there, the fight would have likely have broken up, but nobody dared get between a skilled mage and a Rider, especially when nobody was quite sure what the dragon would do next.
Auduriel freed her sword and stepped back a bit, breathing heavily and glancing at the magician. Whichever spot was his weakest was where she would strike next. "Good for you, human. Why don't you spend your last days doing something productive rather than risk losing it now without your precious revenge? Oh, you're proving my point right here... Do you know what revenge does to people? Do you know why this whole damned war started? Revenge. Your life and my life and the lives of everybody who has been born since the Fall of the Riders? Shaped by revenge. You will become the very monster that you seek revenge against. It's the vicious cycle of war."
Kvalsidae answered David, still remaining calm. Although she disagreed with what he said, but her Rider's anger could be felt so clearly through the bond, she was struggling to prevent it from affecting her too. "Don't." She answered, her voice having a bit of a growl to it. "You insist of speaking with us... Trying to convince her of something that she will not be convinced of in only one sitting, or even many... Do you know how long it has taken me to get Auduriel this tolerable? To get her so close to embracing her role as a Dragon Rider? I risk losing all that I have spent my short life working towards. Leave us."
The dragon projected her voice into the minds of both David and Auduriel. "Enough!" She said, accompanied with an audible roar. It was then that her anger connected her to the dragons' magic, and a wall of black crystal shot up between Auduriel and David, slowly rising to the sky and glinting in the sunlight. It was opaque and would likely serve its purpose of keeping them apart.

David eyed the elf as she continued to call him ignorant and compare him to the mad king. David simply said "The difference is, my revenge rests with one person. The murderer of my grandfathers order, the murderer of my father, not with the whole race of Riders. I intend not to go on a murderous rampage." He blocked out the Dragon from his mind then continued "What I do intend is to try and make a Rider a little bit more pleasant. If you were to die tomorrow, would you want to be remembered as the female rider who pushed everyone away, who hated what she was? I do not wish to fight with you. Remember my words, they could mean life and death for you and your Dragon." With that he sheathed his sword and turned and walked away.

The Rider snarled and whisked away the crystal that her dragon had created with a few words. The dragon flicked her ear, upset over the magician blocking her out. She began to agree with her Rider, but really more out of a matter of wounded pride than anything. That human had the nerve to not listen to her at all? He wasn't taking his own advice, although she did very much agree that she had a point. But she was completely honest, and such, at least in her mind, in the right. The elf unsheathed her sword and took a few running steps to get in front of the magician, her sword pointed at his chest. The dragon knew that she had to act- and she could communicate the last of what she wanted to tell David. She quickly and swiftly dominated Auduriel's mind- the dragon, although young, had trained her mental strength very well, and Auduriel had not been anticipating an attack from her partner-of-heart-and-mind. She took control of her Rider's body. The change was immediately obvious- Auduriel typically walked with confidence and hardly ever faltered, except when she failed to see an obstacle and tripped. The dragon, on the other hand, had never been inside a two-legged body, and she immediately began struggling to gain her balance. The Rider's blade dropped to the ground and her fingers began folding in and out as the dragon oriented herself to her new body. Scents were not quite as strong, and the dragon was unused to the prevalance of dark colors. "L-Lissssthen." When the word came out, it was strange and a bit mangled. The only reason the dragon knew how to produce them in the slightest was from going through her dragon's memory and observing. "T-T..." Her next word never came out, and Auduriel had reclaimed her body. She grasped her blade to try and attack the human again, but the dragon swiftly adjusted to her own form again, flew over to her Rider, and grasped her by the clothing before carrying the struggling elf back inside her tent. The elf curled up on her makeshift straw bed, glancing up at her dragon. She said something unintelligable and buried her face in her pillow. Her dragon laid down next to her and rested her muzzle on her Rider. "It's okay..." She said. "He didn't mean to upset you, he had our best interests at heart... It's my fault, I told him that you didn't want to be a Rider... It's okay Auduriel, calm down, it's okay...""I wouldn't be remembered positively anyways." She managed to say to the dragon. "Nobody has ever looked at me positively. Sure, people have looked at my without an positive or negative association at all... But never positively. Not even my own parents... And we get people telling me we're lucky... Nobody with my parentage is lucky... The only reason people respect me at all is because of you."The dragon looked at her Rider sadly. This wasn't unusual- the elf felt a lot of shame, being the daughter of one of the Forsworn, but she needed to look towards the future. Sure, there were some people who would never look past that, but they were in the minority and Auduriel needed to realize that. "I'm sorry..." She dragon responded simply. "I'm sorry."((Well, that's a side of Auduriel I've wanted to show for a while. We can end it here if you'd like, or David could come across their tent and they could continue. There's a dragon in it, and she hardly fits, so it wouldn't be hard to see which one is theirs. ))

David winced as the Rider tried to kill him over and over again, to be taken over by her dragon. David did nothing. He did not even try and defend himself. If she had made it close enough to his body, he had the words of power in his mind and on his lips to render her the loss of control over her limbs. he did not have need to use them. The rider left, and David stood in the same spot for a long while, filled with both anger and sadness.. most of all though, regret. He had not meant to drive the Rider over the edge. the fact anyone could be so sad.. David wanted to change that. he wanted to be that person she could confide in. He may not have the same story as her, but he wanted her to not be alone.. even if a Rider is never truly alone.
He was not looking for some romantic adventure with an elf, the thought really never crossed his mind.. everybody needed a friend. He knew that one for certain. He now had Velathan, but who did Auduriel have other than her dragon?
So that was why he set off in search of her tent. To beg forgiveness, and offer his ears to her needs. It was easy enough to find, since the tail of a black dragon stuck out of it. He gently made his way past the dragon and knelt by Auduriel's bed. he placed a hand on her shoulder and through it released energy into her body. It was all he could give without passing out. He blinked a few times getting bearings over his now aching limbs before he said softly in the ancient langauge "I beg your forgiveness Auduirel. I spoke poorly. You are not alone, and if you would have me, I would be honored to be the ears that bare your story" He then added in his mind to the Dragon
"My apologies O Dragon, for blocking you out earlier. I was ruled by emotion, and did not want to stray from my task. I beg your forgiveness as well" This he also said in the ancient language, doing his best to piece together the words with the least amount of grammatical mistakes.

The elf did not move- it was embarassing enough to have her dragon see her so upset, but now a human she did not know had seen upset too. She rolled over, and in one swift motion attempted to kick him away from her. "There is no story to tell." She spat. It was a lie, and that much was likely obviously to David. Her face was red and her face was wet with tears- she would not tell him a single thing.
The dragon did not answer him, and simply watched the exchange. She would tell David her Rider's story, but she had already decided that it was not her place to tell. Auduriel would tell the story if she really felt the need to. The elf was already upset enough, and pity just made her Rider angry. Her Rider knew that her story would probably make David pity her- that was one thing Auduriel hated about being the daughter of one of the Forsworn, the pity. That was why she had completely changed her appearance after coming to Ellesmera- if nobody knew who she was, nobody could pity her and nobody could judge her for her parents.

David allowed the kick contact, and flew to the other side of the tent. He groaned, but remained where he was. He did not care that her face was red or her eyes puffy. She was hurting, and it was partly because of him. "You are right, I do not know what it is like to be a Rider, or the loss of loosing one's bondmate" he spoke quietly, tenderly. "But I do know what it is like to have a past which hurts you. One you do not like to share. Like i said earlier, my past has given me strength, but keeping it couped up just made it worse." He then added in the ancient language "I promise not to judge you, or let your story change how I see you, unless it is for the better." He offered her a small smile. he got up, grabbing his chest, and took a step forward, trying to judge if she would allow him to approach.

The elf snarled, her leg prepared to swing at the human one more time, this time with more force behind it. "So you barge into a lady's tent and attempt to make her explain why she's crying?" The elf wiped tears from her below her eyes and took in a breath, standing above the human. She was a few inches taller, and rose up on her toes to make her seem a bit more bigger and more threatening. She had no desire to deal with him, and she intended to use force to back up her intentions.
Her sword was resting beside the bed and she glanced at it, as if assessing the time that it would take her to grab it. The dragon glanced at her and warned against the action. The elf was determined to make him just go away.

David stayed calm. Closing his eyes before continuing "No, I come to comfort a woman who is hurting because i pushed her too far. I have no intentions other than to comfort you, and help you. It helps to have someone you can tell everything to, someone whom shares your secrets. Someone you can talk freely to. I am offering to be that person. I must be worthy, otherwise why would thine Dragon grace me with speaking to me directly, instead of through her Rider." David spoke slowly and calmly, with his palms held in front of him, to show he meant nothing other than friendship and peace.
He took another step forward, knowing it would most likely mean pain, but he was showing faith and trust.

The elf had calmed herself, and stood now glaring at the human who stood in her tent. She narrowed her eyes and tossed her hair back behind her shoulders- a nervous movement more than anything, to stall time while the came up with a plan. "Because she considers it offensive to think that a Rider speaks for a dragon when a dragon speaks for herself." She elf responded, her tone guarded, although it was not as cold as it was originally. This was more a sign of her being careful than her warming up to David.
"Adurna." She said suddenly as she raised her right hand, the hand that bore the gedwey ignasia. A tide of black water suddenly swept through her tent in front of her. The dragon shifted herself so that she was not swept away in the flood- it was easy to avoid considering her weight. Auduriel was aiming to knock the man out of her tent and then apply wards to prevent him from coming back.

David sighed, but remained silent. He began to wonder why he was trying so hard to get the Rider to warm up to him. Maybe because he saw it as a challenge. Something that he would have to work at hard.. maybe it was him subconsciously finding something that would keep him going after this war was over. When the water came, he raised his hand and barked "Letta!" He was weak, but he had enough energy to hold her off for a bit longer "I give you energy, i try to help you, and this is what I am re-paid with?" he said, genuinely hurt "What if we were attacked right now by Empire forces, I would certainly be dead because of the energy I gave you. You think of that?" He said over the noise of the rushing water. He was starting to sweat and shake, but he was hoping those lines might hit home for her.

"That'd be wonderful." She said coldly, her words harsh to try and get him to just go away. She knew that any competent magician was an asset in battle, and that it probably wouldn't be good if he actually did die. "But the Empire is made up of cowards. Believe me, I know the Empire. They will not attack- they will wait for us to come to them. If they're so confident that they can defeat as that they'd attack us here, they'd wait so they can use that strength when they'd demoralize us most. I will not be so lucky as to have you die so soon."
She paused and hesitated- her disregard for him would likely result in another fight. She'd have to try and find another way to get rid of him if that didn't work to begin with. "Listen," She began. "I... Really don't feel comfortable speaking with men about this." He could interpret that however he wanted, Auduriel couldn't find a way to interpret that and have him want to stay. It was a lie, of course, but she hoped that he wouldn't bother to badger her about whatever he thought she was talking about.

David sighed, pushing her disrespect aside. He had expected as much from Auduriel. He didn't expect her to drop her magic and then invite him so nicely into her head. He did however say "I am not here as a man, Auduriel, but here as a potential friend. I know what your kind think of us human men. Barbaians, looking only for a woman's company in bed. That is not why I am here. To be honest, if i truly wanted that, there are plenty of other women in the camp who would not try to kill me as i attempted to talk to them. Look in your heart, and you will know i speak the truth."
He then staggered and said "I will leave you. But I shall be back, I am not giving up on your happy-ness as easily as you have. I have given the memory of my past to your Dragon, maybe when you calm down you will want to see it, and know i am not one to judge, and know I am one who you can trust. Farewell Auduriel. I shall be back" He then gave up on the magic and darted out of the tent before he could get wet.

"Good!" Auduriel called back. "I'll kill you the next time you try to intrude on me like that! This is your one and only warning, human, and you'd do best to not forget it!"
Auduriel curled back up in her bed and looked at the canvas of her tent. The dragon curled around the tent and flicked her tail. It was time to rest for a few hours, and then it was time to resume the vigorous training sessions that both dragon and Rider needed to attend before the Battle of Uru'baen began. A rest could be afforded, for now at least.
