Chitterlings (often pronounced "CHIT-lins" and sometimes spelled chitlins in common vernacular) are the small intestines of a pig that have been prepared as food.
Is it odd that my (extended) family would call ahead to a breakfast buffet to make sure they had enough chitterlings for 20+ people?

I knew it was a food item!  Well, it is a bit odd... to me anyway. Maybe because instead of food, to me chitterlings sound like some sort of furry alien species that hide in the forest and make little twittering noises. But thats just me. |
