Aelodil had expected a dynamic response to what he did. Perhaps even he had expected a kick to the groin. What he didn't expect was Clarissa's response. He noticed the tears that coated her eyes and felt a stab of regret. He didn't mean to hurt her. He had meant to tease her. He was surprised to listen what she told him. Taken aback, he wondered if he had gone a bit too far. Thinking on it, he pondered the meaning behind what she said. Was she saying.. oh man. That was not what he was expecting. Then the world went for a spin. First she held him tight to her for a moment before they rolled and she ended up pinning him again. He stared at her, his charcoal grey eyes glistening with the sunlight. When she jumped up and ran away, his first response was to think, Well then, aren't I brilliant?" His second response was to chase after her.
Quickly, he jackknifed to his feet and with his long gait thanks to his height, caught up to her quickly. He moved to grab her wrist and turned her to face him before embracing her. Slowly, he stroked her hair and began murmuring in a soft voice, "It's okay Clarissa, calm down. Don't worry. I won't do that to you again. I'm sorry if I frightened or startled you. But don't worry now, everything will be fine." he promised her, his voice softer than usual. His usual icy cold demeanor was gone. They may never had looked eye to eye, but he treasured her as his precious cousin.
Oroku laughed as Vervada did. "Well, I did say he's quite the womanizer. I'm quite interested to see how this goes, actually. Thing is, Aelodil's main thoughts are to marry so that his legacy and blood is continued. After all, his is one of the most royal families. Even if Galbatorix is defeated, his blood remains that of loyalty. Ancient loyalty, as well." he told her, amused to see how the events were going to unfold.

Clarissa was trying to fight down her confusion when suddenly Aelodil was behind her and trying to comfort her. As she spun around and saw him again, the daughter of Galbatorix went weak and then simply started hyperventilating. Without meaning to, or at least that would always be her story, Clarissa brushed his hair from his eyes and then kissed Aelodil softly before passing out. Her body crumpled and started on a downward slope towards the ground quickly.
Vervada was sitting there waiting for what she could tell was going to happen. Her rider had never been real versed in the art of controlling herself or staying calm in stressful situations. So when she fainted, Vervada made her dragon laugh and spoke to Oroku once more within their minds. She is normally so good at avoiding this type of situation. Yet, this behavior from Clarissa isn't abnormal. Please pass along to Aelodil that Clarissa is conflicted and that he should be careful. It is not always a good thing to get a female to feel so strongly if you don't intend to follow through with her.

Aelodil felt his muscles relax slightly as he held Clarissa. It reminded him of how his old and most trusted butler had treated him growing up as a young child whenever he'd do something and end up upset. The only difference being that his butler was not stunningly beautiful and did not kiss him. Aelodil's breath stopped for a moment in surprise when Clarissa's soft hand brushed against his face and her lips met his. He had kissed women plenty times before, but that had all been emotionless. Just for court's sake. This was different. Noticing her body crumpling, he reacted with inhuman speed as he caught her thin figure. Gently, he lowered himself and sat on the ground, resting her head gently against his chest. He continued to stroke her hair all the time wondering what he was doing. It wasn't that he felt disgusted by them being cousins - after all, most royal families remained pure royalty through marriage between cousins. But rather he had never felt like this before. Never had he held a woman with care like this other than his mother.
"Will do," Oroku responded to Vervada before continuing, "But I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean to play around here. I'll relay it anyway. Maybe this will be good.. maybe not. Who knows, huh?" and with that having been said, he reached out to Aelodil and relayed what Vervada had told him.
Aelodil shrugged off the mental probe sent from Oroku. He wasn't playing around. He wasn't wasting his time. He knew some people would look at him differently but his mind was set and he had quite a reputation of being stubborn to keep up. Looking down at Clarissa's prone figure he lowered his head, with his blonde hair flowing around him as he gently kissed her before raising his head again. Giving a soft and gentle smile he whispered, mostly to himself, "It's okay Clarissa. I'm here for you. Everything will be alright." with no thoughts of politics in his mind. Quite a different person than he had been just a few minutes earlier.

Vervada felt happy to see how someone else could treat Clarissa with care and love born not of fear for her father. So many times she had listened to her rider bemoan the unlikelihood of ever being able to care for some other person. Well Fate sure had a twisted sense of humor to do this.
Clarissa blinked slowly as her mind came back and began piecing itself together. As she opened her eyes and saw Aelodil so close, Clarissa tensed up ever so slightly but then heard his words to her. All thoughts of fleeing left her mind as Clarissa simply rested her head against his chest and closed her eyes again. Aelodil, thank you.

"Do you plan on continuing to lay down much longer, you lazy bum?" came the sarcastic tone from Oroku, causing Aelodil to jolt up. Looking down, he began to remember the last day. Looking next to him he noticed Clarissa's prone figure sleeping close by, both of them resting on cloth between them and the hard earth with blankets covering them. As he got up, he noticed he had apparently taken off his shirt to sleep better. Yawning as he stretched, he squinted.
"Perhaps I do plan on laying down longer. Besides, you never were an energetic one either." Aelodil responded to Oroku with calm serenity. He felt better than he had in days. Deciding to wait a little before waking up Clarissa he began his daily routine to stretch out his muscles and mind. After all, wisdom was much the same as muscles. They both needed to be freshened up on a daily basis. Finishing his exercise, he cleaned off in the closest body of water which was quite far away. Returning to where Clarissa was, he snapped his fingers, signalling his butler.
"Good morning, sir. How may I help you on this fine morning? Some tea? Or perhaps biscuits? Or a little of both along with some breakfast for you and the madam?" the butler responded. Aelodil eyed him before responding, inspecting him up and down. Albert had been his faithful butler since he was 5. The man looked like he was in his 40s but he knew better. Albert had grey folk blood in him and he was actually 200 years old.
"Could I choose all of the above? It'd be much appreciated." Aelodil informed the butler. He was grateful for Albert as it was him who taught him much of what he knew.
"The pleasure would be all mine, sir. I shall return in just a moment." Albert said, bowing, turning to move away before Aelodil stopped him.
Drawing closer, he told Albert, "Albert, none of what happened yesterday can be told to anyone yet. Am I understood?" making sure that the butler would not argue. Luckily, Albert simply nodded and moved off again.
Sighing, Aelodil waited a total of about five minutes before Albert returned with their breakfast and tea and biscuits, placing them on the table. Signalling his thanks, Aelodil moved over to Clarissa, a warm and gentle smile on his face. He knelt next to her and gently shook her, saying, "Rise and whine, sunshine. Our breakfast is here."

((Wow if that hadn't been planned then I would have died in shock))
Clarissa felt Vervada slowly brush against her mind just as Aelodil spoke like it was morning and not late evening... Suddenly everything from the previous day returned and Clarissa blushed before making sure she at least was decent. Quickly she got up and stretched before heading to the water at a brisk jog. While some people preferred to stretch and warm up, Clarissa chose a light stretch and then a quick paced run. It got her blood flowing again and gave her time to think clearly again.
As she finished cleaning up and putting her clothes back on, Clarissa sighed and realized it was a good thing no one was around yesterday. There was no telling what would be said to who and then it would be war and blood shed. Clarissa finally made it back and walked up to Aelodil. Quickly she kissed him on the cheek and spoke quietly. That can never get out to the general public. At least not until we figure out what to do. She sat down to the food and then smiled at Vervada.

(( Yeah..)) Aelodil stared after Clarissa as she moved off in the direction he had just came back from. He stood up straight and gave out a slight sigh. What was he going to do with this? The politician in him noticed the pros and cons to what this could mean while his own self discarded all those thoughts. He didn't care about what he'd have to face. For Clarissa he felt like he would do just about anything. "Love's a finicky prick isn't it? Always gets you in the most awkward situations." Oroku commented, listening in on Aelodil's thoughts. "I'd not be too sure about that. The timing might be a little suspect, sure, but I can't quite place my finger on the last time I had been so happy." Aelodil responded, genuinely meaning it. Oroku took the statement with silence. Never before had he seen Aelodil have such care for someone. Love was quite a dangerous thing. In his opinion he'd say it was a double edged blade. Knowing Aelodil though, once he put his mind on something he didn't plan on giving up. So instead of trying to talk him out of it, he decided to begin to explain to Aelodil the real story behind it all. He called out to Albert and explained it all to him. The faithful butler nodded and turned to Aelodil. "Sir, there is something of the utmost seriousness which I need to tell you." Albert started. Aelodil raised an eyebrow and gestured for him to continue. Taking a breath, Albert continued, "I do think you recall when Oroku first died and you traveled around on the verge of madness for what you thought was a year? You actually spent longer than a year. Sure, one year spent to recover from your madness, but then after that you spent eighty years training between the destructive magic you're so famous for and your swordplay. I'm sorry I had not told you this before." Aelodil took the news with silence. He had always suspected something of the sorts. No way could a 31 year old human turn half elf be so in touch with the magic that he was in touch with. Nodding slowly, he asked, "Care to explain why this was kept a secret from me?" normally his voice would have been ice cold but after the last day with Clarissa he was still in a great mood. Albert opened his mouth to talk but was interrupted by Oroku who explained, "Because I had Albert seal away those extra memories and the power in you. He'll unseal it now. The main reason was because if you had that knowledge.. you probably would have caused quite carnage to get me back, especially considering you had learned how during your years travelling." Aelodil's face remained passive as he took a deep breath. When Albert released the seal on Aelodil his eyes widened slightly, his years coming back to him. He looked at Albert with a new glint in his eyes. "Thank you, Albert, Oroku. Don't worry, I won't cause carnage for that reason. I may be many things but I am not crazy. Not anymore, at least. You're dismissed." he waved off Albert. No sooner had Albert disappeared than Clarissa returned. Smiling at her as she walked to him, Aelodil sat opposite her on the table, eating from one of the sandwiches prepared by Albert. Sipping his tea, he responded to Clarissa, "I have an idea to get around it. Don't worry, I won't let anything stop us. We're free birds, free to do anything we want." reaching across the table, resting his hand on hers, a smile on his face. Oroku reached out to Vervada and began with a pleasant greeting, "Good morning Vervada.. if you could call it morning, that is. What do you think about all this, might I ask?" eager to hear her opinion on it all. When you die, your world ends. The world may go on, but in your eyes, the world ends with you. -Carpe Diem

Vervada was quivering with barely contained impatience at having been here for so long. She thought carefully and then blocked Clarissa from being able to hear the conversation before commenting. This is certainly not what I expected from the meeting. Although Clarissa has needed someone she cared about to actually stick around. Personally I believe that Aelodil, while being a relative, is the perfect mate for her. They connected and share many views and personality traits. The two aren't afraid to express themselves yet they are also caring. This may not happen but if I found someone who was so much like me and I had to fight my heart, I would probably mate and be done with it.
Clarissa noticed Vervada cut off part of her mind but didn't push the topic as Aelodil put his hand on hers. Without thinking, she turned her hand around and wrapped her fingers lightly around his. What is your idea, Lord Aelodil? If it involves me don't you think I should be informed about it?

Oroku chuckled throughout their minds at Vervada's comment. Blocking Clarissa and Aelodil from their conversation, knowing well that the two couldn't break through his and Vervada's minds and listening in, he said, "I'm afraid humans are a little too dumb to understand that. They spend so long beating around the bush, never getting down to it. I agree with what you said - honestly, if you've got it figured out then just get done with it. That's human nature, I guess." his voice thick with his enjoyment. He found it extremely amusing, this situation they were in.
Aelodil smiled, staring Clarissa in the eyes. He leaned over the table and said, "Well, the people of our Provinces wouldn't mind because that means one less potential pool of bloodshed for them. The only thing we need to worry about would be assassins. Let's be honest, no assassin is a match for either of us - let alone, both of us. Also, considering what Albert just did now.." he opened his palm, igniting a small ball of charcoal grey colored fire. Smiling, he sent it off to a nearby bird. Instead of burning the bird, though, it seemed to possess the bird. Using his magic to suffocate the soul in the body, allowing him to control it. The bird flew on the table and stared at Clarissa with the same charcoal grey eyes as Aelodil.
Grinning he said, "I can do that to more than just one bird. If I want to, I could control an entire army to say.. turn on their master?" leaning even closer, he gently cupped Clarissa's chin and kissed her passionately. The world was their chess game. The people in it their chess pieces. When you die, your world ends. The world may go on, but in your eyes, the world ends with you.
