Elves are basically humans with special powers, they would join for the same reason that any human would, wealth, power, ect. ect. ect. But, they would be able to reveal Ellesmera's location to Galbatorix. And most of the elves would remember the atrocitys that the forsworn commited, and be reluctent to join.

What would you do
When everything you once knew
Came crashing down around you
Untill all you had left
Was a mark on your palm
And an old storyteller who claimed to know the rest.
