Age: Technically, about 2 or 3. However, due to Saphira's magic, she looks like a young child of about 7 and has the mind and voice of an adult. (She grew since the events of Eldest)

Birthday: The equivalent of December 15

Eyes: Large, unnaturally violet eyes.

Hair: Sleek, moderately long black hair with bangs that hide Saphira's mark on her forehead and occaisionally, her eyes.

Weight: Although she eats a lot, Elva is slender and very light, about 50 lbs.

Height: 3'

Magic User: Yes, but she can only heal and protect. At present, she can only heal minor wounds (medium if she doesn't mind passing out) and put up weak wards.

Preferred Weapon(s): Since harming others goes against Eragon's blessing-that-became-a-curse, Elva has no weapons. Before her death, Nasuada did order a small buckler (5-inch diameter) to be forged for her so that she would have some way of protecting herself and others.

Personality: Elva is incredibly cynical (especially for her age) and rarely acts like a child. She often sports a mocking smirk and lacks the ability to hold back her laughter for the sake of tact. However, this is not to say that she is a bad person. She has a great capacity for forgiveness and prefers to put herself in danger rather than send someone else to stop what she has anticipated.

Appearance: Elva looks almost like a changling or a twisted version of Snow White. Her skin is very pale in sharp contrast to her black hair. Unnaturally violet eyes and the silver starlike mark on her forehead add to her air of otherworldliness. She often wears black dresses but goes barefoot inside.

Likes/Dislikes:
Likes: Food, people who give her food, Greta, Angela, cool temperatures, and people who don't treat her like a freak. Eragon will be on this list when he removes his curse and does the blessing properly.
Dislikes: Her curse, clumsy people, rations, and people who don't keep their promises.

Strengths: Elva can anticipate misfortunes and danger about two to three hours before they occur, thus allowing her to save lives. She can also make a conscious effort to look after a certain person. Therefore, she is the perfect bodyguard. Elva also can sense mental weaknesses and knows what to say to make people feel better, giving her diplomatic advantages as well.

Weakness: Elva is aware of every single misfortune, no matter how small, and feels constantly compelled to shield others from pain. If she resists this urge or intentionally hurts someone, she experiences great pain and vomiting.

Family: Her parents died in the service of the Varden, leaving Elva an orphan. Greta has taken care of her ever since, and Angela later took Elva under her wing as well.

Brief History: Elva would have been just another casualty of the battles between the Empire and the Varden if Greta had not begged Eragon and Saphira to bless her as a baby. Saphira marked her forehead with a star- shaped mark similar to the gedwey ignasia while Eragon attempted to bless her. Unfortunately for her, he said "skolir" (may you be a shield from misfortune) instead of "skoliro" (may you be shielded from misfortune). This compelled Elva from an early age to aid those in pain. Frustrated because that was rather impossible to do as a baby, she willed herself to grow up with the aid of Saphira's blessing.

In Surda, Greta was still looking after Elva. One day, she became aware that an agent of the Empire was going to assassinate Nasuada. Escaping from Greta, Elva made it just in time to push Nasuada out of the way and tell the guards where the assassin was. Ever since then, Elva has been one of the bodyguards for the leader of the Varden and loosely for the King of Surda as well. During any sort of battle, Elva stays safely in her room so that her compulsion to protect people does not put her life at risk.

For the sake of this RP, she told Eragon to wait a little longer before lifting her curse just in case more assassins or Shades tried to assassinate the leaders of the Varden.

Anything extra: As far as PC's go for this RP, Raylborn Theod, all of the Varden Riders and dragons, and possibly the Council of Elders are under Elva's protection (within reason; obviously she can't poof out of thin air to save someone).

It's a tad short, but that's understandable as the character hasn't had such a large part in the book so far, as well as a lifeline. So... how about a small RP sample?

Elva was in the middle of stuffing an apple into her mouth when that annoying little feeling started. It was hard to describe, but her compulsions always began feeling as if someone was poking her. If she waited too long before responding, it increased to a feeling of pulling on her arm, until the compulsions became so violent that they caused her to throw up. The little girl was not in the mood for that today- not that she ever was, of course, but today she just didn't want to deal with it- so after casting a longing look at the heap of food on the table, she grabbed the apple and left her room. Greta was used to her comings and goings nowadays and so there was no need to explain.

The compulsion always lessened once Elva started going to the aid of whoever was causing it. She padded down the hall for awhile until she reached the stairs. At the bottom of the landing, a soldier lay spawled out, obviously having tripped and fallen. The violet-eyed girl had a good deal of trouble trying to suppress her laughter, as it isn't everyday that a soldier trips and falls in full armor down the stairs. And even though Elva knew how much it had hurt better than anyone else except that soldier, after half a minute of staring at him trying to keep a giggle from bubbling to the surface, she gave up and let it out.

The soldier rolled over to look at her and glare, apparently he hadn't heard her footsteps. "You've hurt your ankle, haven't you?" she asked before he could say anything. He stared at her in bewilderment, but before he could ask her how she knew, the raven-haired girl raised a hand to silence him. "Don't worry, it's just a sprain, and I won't tell anyone about this." The soldier's glare subsided, because he'd been afraid of being mocked for this little accident. After taking another bite of the apple, Elva trotted down the stairs and knelt beside him. In the past, she would have had to settle for bandaging the ankle and feeling the pain of every step as the soldier limped away, but now she had learned to heal using magic. She'd never tried to heal a sprain before, though, and she had no idea how much it would take out of her. Exhausted is better than vomiting. "Waise haill," she whispered, wincing as the magic took its toll on her. After a few seconds, the soldier gingerly got to his feet and offered her his mailed hand, for which Elva was incredibly grateful. It would have probably taken five minutes for her to summon the strength and will to get up on her own. As she watched him walk away, she couldn't help but think to herself that anyone who tripped down the stairs in full armor ought to walk around in pillow armor instead.
