"Huh..." She grunted ungracefully before shrugging, "Fair enough." Finished with the tending of her hair, she shook the dirt from her fingers and eyed the pair. The way Sonya sounded, it was like...
She shook her head. No...kicking any such thoughts from her mind into the empty corners of her mind, Gazeil refused to think of it. It was not something disgusting...but it seemed unlikely to her. "So North, is it?" she queried, before something stopped her from moving forward.
"I doubt I would ride a dragon, but I do not have a horse...unless you intend on travelling on foot?" She asked Vedrit.

"I invite you. I walk faster than you." Sonya replied, "Unless you have anything against sitting so close to Vedrit." if she could, she would have risen an eyebrow.
Vedrit, with no comment to what Sonya said, again lowered his hand to help Gaziel up. He almost didn't. If she would rather run than ride a dragon, who was he to complain? 'Sonya seems to be pressing harder for a... well...a match.' Vedrit observed to himself, keeping the thought from Sonya, 'Shes not a very good match-maker.' To be honest, he didn't really mind. He had no where he wanted to be, nothing to do, and noone to see. If Sonya wanted to stall sight-seeing, it was her choice.

"It's not a problem but..." She had heard that some dragons didn't like anyone other than their rider touching them. She guessed that Sonya was an exception. "...ah, thank you..." What more could she say? Accepting the offered hand, she got up onto the white dragon with Vedrit's help. Eying the scales, a thought worried her; she didn't have a saddle. Did that mean her legs would be skinned along the way?
"Uh...do you have anything to stop the...scales from rubbing against my legs?" She asked, gesturing to them. With the short lower garment she had on, it would not be good if that did happen. Not to mention that she didn't have anything to help. How was she to know that she would be riding a dragon? Much less a saddle-less one?

Vedrit thought for a moment. The ride shouldn't be too rough, but it would still hurt. He could put a ward around her legs, but that might be a heavy drain on him. Sitting in his lap might help, but probably not. He decided on the ward. A very simple one. Muttering a few words in the Ancient Language, involving Gaziels calfs and protection against dragon scales. It should be simple enough to undo and sustain through the trip. "Ok, I think we are ready." he said. Sonya nodded and began the trip at a quick walk. "Everything fine?" he asked Gaziel

The ward was fine; she preferred it from sitting on the other's lap, which was what she had felt was one of the options. Nodding, she gave a small grin, "Yeah, it's fine." Sonya was already started to move at a quick pace, and she could only wonder what it really would be like in the skies. Already everything looked different from her place, despite not being too high off the ground.
She had heard of riders and their first experience flying; it was one of the best feelings, apparently. Well, she was not too fond of heights, but perhaps she could make an exception

"We'll stop in an hour or so, so get comfortable back there you two." Sonya said.
"How much of the Ancient Language do you know?'' Vedrit asked Gaziel, trying to make small talk. If they were going to be riding for an hour or more, he'd rather not spend it in silence. Silence was nice, but not all the time. 'Is this your plan Sonya?' he wondered. Sonya was usually so open with him, but had closed off nearly everything when she met Gaziel

She nodded, just to show that she understood, even if she didn't know what she had to understand exactly. Of course, being who she was, she didn't know what the dragon was thinking...and the thought had not crossed her mind even. Why should it?
"Ah..." She blushed some, more of embarrassment than anything, "...not a lot..." She was a little lacking when it came to vocabulary in the Ancient Language, finding it a little too confusing for her liking. She can understand some words, and use general elements. But as for complicated word structures...that was a different story all together. "If you try to speak to me in the Ancient Language, it's doubtful I could understand you."

Vedrit was a bit surprised, but figured she had been raised by her human parent. Chuckling, he said "There's more to the Ancient Language than understanding the words. You have to feel the words, how they work with one another and the world around us." he said. In his own personal experience, using the Ancient Language worked best when he could feel how the spells were acting, rather than just blurting out the words and hoping they did what he intended.
"But the Ancient Language is not the most powerful force in the world." Sonya commented

"I know, I know," Gazeil grumbled; she had heard it all before. It wasn't anything new...all her tutors had tried to teach her that one fact, and though she did get it, it didn't make learning the Ancient Language any easier. "I know how to use the words, I just can't...remember them." She brought her hand up and tapped her head lightly, "I guess I have short-term memory," she laughed quietly. Maybe she did...maybe she didn't.
Or maybe it was because she didn't bother to learn it in the first place.
"Archery is my forte," she said, a little proudly before tilting her head to the side, "But I guess nearly, if not all, elves excel in archery..."

Vedrit looked back at Gaziel, ignoring Sonyas commeny, again. "Think of the different words as different arrows, sentences as bows, and the flow as strings. Remembering what each does is only half the job," He said, hoping he could make learning the Ancient Language easier for her, "You have to know what works best with what. A peircing arrow with a yew long recurve with a flax string works for long range, but the flax won't last long. Certain words in a certain forms, and the flow can do exactly what you intend. If you are given the tools, use them." that was a long speil for him, but hoped that Gaziel understood, and would take it to heart. There was no way he would be doing that again.
"Finished?" Sonya asked him with a hint of sarcasm

That was...quite the long winded speech. And confusing as well, but in the end, Gazeil got it. Surprisingly enough, it was much easier to understand in the terms of bows and arrows. "Ah...I see!" She said, her expression brightening, "So the words in a long sentence that flow will work, but not for long?" She then furrowed her brow. She was certain that she had misunderstood somewhere...in any case, the other's words had flowed together too much for it to make much sense in the first place. Nonetheless, it was a better way of teaching than her past tutors, who had tried making her copy textbooks, memorizing (which had failed terribly), recitals...and trying to beat it into her head when she got it wrong.
All in all, they failed.

"Well, the Ancient Language is still relatively unknown. Even if you have the sentence perfect by what we know, it still won't always work, like the wind changing the course of the arrow." Vedrit explained
"Now explain what happens when this 'arrow' reaches its target." Sonya said
Vedrit didn't really want to go into that at the moment. Gaziel was grasping at the busics, and needed to understand them before moving on. "Did your past teachers try to teach you words before teaching you the basics?" Vedrit asked, wondering why no one had taught her these things before.

"Ah..." She grimaced lightly at the mistake she did not know if she had created. "But...yes, they have tried to teach me the words." A light gesture to her head said it all, but she continued anyway, "Like I told you, my memory is not up to par, and I fear that most tutors go insane before I learn properly." She didn't even have the motivation to go and teach herself. How pitiful was that?
Did that mean that she wasn't really all that interested in the Ancient Language? Surely, she was...but it was too much hassle, and she hated being seated most of the time. She preferred to work outdoors, yet liked to read...if that made any sense.
In a sense, she liked the physical part of learning more than the mental, despite her being quite witty and intelligent when it came to cryptic comments and riddles.

"Perhaps we will find something that works." Vedrit said. He wasnt much of a teacher, mostly because he doesnt have the patience to teach. He had patience, just not to teach. "Maybe Sonya could teach you, if she knew any words. At any rate, its something that comes in great use." He didnt have much more to say on the matter, and was content with sitting as Sonya trod along, his mind gently drifting off into his way-ward worlds.
Sonya didnt have anything to say, either, much unlike her. It wasnt that she didnt like Gaziel, because she did, it was simply that she didnt know much about the Ancient Language besides what Vedrit taught her or she had picked up. She would be learning as much as Gaziel, if Vedrit was convinced to teach her

"Perhaps..." she answered back, her tone quiet. Not wanting to mention anything further, for there was no reason to do so, Gazeil shifted herself before falling still. "...I know it's useful. But maybe I'll find the motivation to learn myself." If the dragon didn't know much, then what use was there? The only thing that could come out of it was just simply frustration. It was like a newborn teaching another newborn how to walk.
Actually, she didn't know how that comparison worked.
"So..." she breathed out; unused the such silence. "...Sonya? Do you know why you picked Vedrit to be your rider?" She didn't mean any insult to the elf.

Sonya chuckled, "I picked him because he had, still has, a fierce determination, a kind heart, and strong will. I knew that no matter what we go through, I will always be able to count on him." she replied. Vedrit had heard it before, and never really believed he was all that great. Everyone had their weaknesses. It was just a matter of time before they came across his greatest one.
"So, tell us about yourself. I like to know who I travel with." Sonya said, trying to start up a conversation. She could feel Gaziels dislike of silence.

She nodded knowingly, though not really knowing much. Having just met the pair, she wasn't sure how much of the dragon's words she could trust, but she knew that they weren't all fully lies. More or less, it was either accurate or not, but Gazeil wisely kept that thought to herself.
At the question, she arched an eyebrow. "Uh..." Despite a subject, she still didn't know what to say. There were many things she could say, but only a few she was willing to. "I guess you already know, but I'm a half-elf. My mother is human, and my father was an elf..." She didn't know if her father was still alive, hence the past tense. But it was all her thoughts, after all. "...and...well, there's nothing much?" Gazeil sighed, "I think you need to ask precise questions to get an accurate answer."

"Such is life." Sonya said with a nod, "When not being rescued, what do you do in your spare time?" she specified, thinking it was specific enough. Vedrit, as usual in these situations, just sat, listening. This was Sonyas game of 20 questions. He had no intention of joining in. Instead, he would let his mind drift, only keeping a part of his attention at the conversation. As his mind drifted, Gaziel often showed up in his wayward thoughts 'The sooner we go our separate ways, the better.' He thought coldly.
Sonya was already lining up questions in her head. She never gets a chance to ask these questions because whoever she's talking to usually can't stick around long enough to hear them.

"I'm not always getting rescued," Gazeil protested, huffing a little. She would have crossed her arms, if not for the fear of falling. "And to answer your question, I mostly just train," a small frown flickered across her face briefly, but it was faint. Gone as fast as it had come; she nodded, "I also tend to do what I please, or do what I feel like." There really wasn't a set routine in her life, which goes to show how disorganized she was. However, she had been able survive for so long, so...she had not made any plans to switch her tactics.
Had she known what Vedrit was thinking at that time, she would have decided to comply with the male elf. She couldn't really stand the types who disregarded people when they did nothing wrong. However, the hybrid supposed she was being hypocritical here, for she did that often as well.
As for knowing what Sonya was doing...well, she would have blanched. She didn't mind questions; it just depended on the type of questions in mind.

"Sounds chaotic." Vedrit mumbled, more to himself than Gaziel or Sonya. He believed that part of living was doing what you don't like. Besides, mostly training sounds boring.
"Some might say you do more than Vedrit." Sonya replied curtly. Vedrits attitude usually isn't this bad, and it was getting on her nerves. If he didn't lighten up, well... she'd deal with that later.
"Anyhow... Have you been to your people's home?" she asked Gaziel, moving on with the questions.
