Full Name: Gazeil Wolvrem
Other name: --
Race: Half human, half elf
Side: Neutral
Birthplace: Teirm
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Birthday: January 3rd
Eyes: A mixture between red and purple, boarding slighty on brown but not quite.
Hair: A lightish blonde which reaches up to her waist with a slight wave in it. She usually has it tied up if the weather gets too hot or when she enters in a serious battle by a simple strip of the material used for her clothing. But she keeps it down for the majority of the time, since it feels more comfortable for her that way. Her fringe is parted where one side is mostly kept away from her eyes with two plain clips.
Weight: 128 lbs
Height: 5'6"
Magic User: Yes (somewhat of a beginner though)
Clothing: She usually wears the normal human attire which were all plain and simple. But when traveling, she prefers to wear something light with hardly any armor on, consisting mostly of material that covers her torso, and short 'pants' for easy travels.
All her clothing is mostly made out of a coarse material which is nothing too fancy. She also owns a pair of fingerless gloves which reach up to her elbows (where the hand area is only covered by a fairly loose, blackish-coloured material) for easier use of her bow.
Preferred Weapon(s): A long, thin but durable bow that doesn't follow the typical semi-circle curve of an average one. The tips on both sides flick downwards (away from the bowstring) which ends in a sharp point. The bow goes straight from there for a little while until a curve is met with a small section where the arrow is placed. The other end is the mirror image of that.
The arrows themselves are fletched with eagle feathers while the quiver is made out of tough leather, which weighs lighter than it looks. She has been known to use silver arrows, but finds that they are too heavy and so only uses them when time calls for it. Gazeil prefers to use the normal, average ones though as it is more than capable of serving it's purpose.
She also carries a small dagger around with her just as a 'back-up' weapon in case she is unable to use her bow. She avoids using it though, as she is very unskilled with blades and the like.
[Note: I'm sorry if the description is confusing, I could post a picture up to show, but it's anime styled, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate in forums such as these, or if it's allowed...so, again, my apologies.]
Personality: She's quick to act on her feet, but years of training has given her an equally quick tongue, if not more so. She's capable of being quite nasty if you insult her (see 'extra' for details), but also has the ability to be sickengly sweet to you. She leaves first impressions down the drain. How nice she approaches you will be depending on her mood, though she may wait for you too approach her instead.
She isn't completely sociable, but she isn't anti-sociable either. A 'normal' conversation is probably the most you could hope for when talking to her, seeing as different days leave her in different moods which cause her to prefer topics over others. She also prefers to talk with indirect comments, and since her grasp on the Ancient Language isn't that good, she may trip up once or twice...or three times.
She doesn't trust people too much however (as to be expected in times like these) but is willing to do so if the other proves their trust and so provides them her own trust. The problem is that she would much rather work independantly than with others, seeing as she has done so for the past few years. She finds company very uncomfortable, despite not being a social-outcast.
She rebels quite easily against facts that don't fit her liking and also doesn't like opinions that she knows are wrong, but others still follow. Ironically enough, she tells them not to be irrational, and tries to tell them to think it over before jumping to conclusions, in which one may describe her as hypocritical.
Gazeil is also fairly lazy, having picked that up from the human environment, even if she travels a lot, she's also amazingly skilled at procrastination. Which is also another bad habit she has been trying to get rid of, seeing as habits such as that would not get her very far, especially with rumours floating around about the Varden and the Empire, and about Dragon Riders.
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes:
- Archery (because swordplay is something she isn't very familiar with)
- Apples (all types of fruit and vegetables, in general, but she favours apples the most)
- Rain (the constant heat while being in the Hadarac Desert during one of her travels made her sick of too much sunshine)
- Dragons (she's fascinated by their background and anatomy)
- Riders (looks up to them, but doesn't necessarily want to be one)
- Reading (well, the little language she is able to, that is)
Dislikes:
- Heat (see above)
- Ra'zac and Lethrblaka (she finds them very unappealing and downright dangerous)
- Insults (she can take an insult, but when you touch upon a particularly fragile topic, her heritage for example, then it will result in a very huge disliking later on. Not so much that it will turn into a blood feud though.)
- The Ancient language (even though it's mandatory if you use magic, she still finds it confusing. Also, her mostly human upbringing has left her pretty ignorant about the whole topic.)
Family: Human mother, Erisa and an elf father, Volder. No siblings that she knows of. She knows she has relatives else where, but she does not know their name, or anything personal about them. Just the fact that they exist.
Brief History:
Gazeil was the daughter of a human and an elf, causing a mixture, a hybrid if you will.
(Turns into story-telling mode later on)
Her parents meeting was chanced, when her father left Ellesmera to accompany a few others to meet with the Varden concerning the Empire. Along the way, however, when the other's were either far off or he knew not their location as of that moment, he stumbled upon a woman. She looked as if she was from a nearby area, and was being attacked by bandits. Normally, Volder would have left her to fend for herself, being one of the kinds to let humans die an invetiable death which is sure to come for every single one of those soft, pink beings.
But something made him stop, and he gave a second glance at the woman, seeing the fear in her eyes for the first time. She had spotted him, she knew what he was, and she called for help. Pity stirred in his being, and his hand subconciously raised his bow and by the time he realised what was going on, he had wounded humans on the ground and the woman among them, looking for all the world like a damsel in distress. Normally, his actions should have disgusted him, but he stayed put.
A hoarse shout rang out; he knew what it was. She, by the looks of it, didn't but was scared all the same. Beckoning him to hurry over, as she did not seem so hurt, he waited impatiently for her before taking her by the hand to rush for his companions. He took no notice of the strange looks she gave him, or anything about the woman and how she had captivated him so to allow him that one action. All he knew was that he did not want to waste his arrows on petty bandits. Had it been Urgals, or the Empire, that would have been a completely different matter but even those of the Empire did not stray as far as the Hadarac Desert and beyond.
His elf companions disapproved of the woman joining them, but she did for a some time while they crossed the desert and closer to the Varden. Once their meeting with them was over, they decided to leave her at Teirm, after she had told them that her village was burnt down on Galbatorix's order. Volder was told to accompany her, as he was the one that had found her. During that time, he had become a little perplexed at his feelings for her, but thought nothing of it. There was no deeper meaning in his feelings.
During their small journey to Teirm, he had nothing to busy himself with and even so, his mind was drawn to the woman more and more, who called herself 'Erisa'. A journey filled with conflicting emotions and when they reached Teirm, later they found that she was pregnant. But Volder wasn't ready to bear that responsibility and so left for Ellesmera.
Gazeil has no knowledge of this whatsover, and her mother had just told her that he left because he craved for his homeland.
But because of her above normal speed and strength, plus the oddly shaped ears that weren't quite human, but a mix of elf as well, people realised that she wasn't just human. For that, Gazeil was mostly shunned out of the community, but due to her stubborness, she wasn't about to be put down by that.
It was only until she was around 15 or 16 did she start to realise about her heritage in deeper depth and meaning, and also about the use of magic. By then though, she was more interested in keeping herself alive and training herself with the bow than sorcery and witchcraft. She was curious about the elves though, and so decided to learn the Ancient Language seeing as it was connected to her father and the elves as well.
As far as she can tell, the Empire has not yet learnt about her existance, and juding by what others say, she hopes that it will stay that way. But to her, that doesn't matter seeing as she still doesn't know which side she supports.
Despite being half-elf, however, she was in no way, skilled with singing. She decided to leave what safety there was in Teirm to seek out the elves and her father, simply because she was curious about her 'other side', leaving her mother in the hands of a healer, who wasn't very well known at that time.
During the course of years, she has found various mentors to help her in her study of the Ancient Language, but she has always ended up leaving because of her lack of motivation. She knows it's a bad habit, and a lot have told her that if she doesn't have the enthusiasm to do it, then she's better off completely forgetting about learning it. But it's hard to let old habits die.
Anything extra:
- Due to her Elf nature, like all Elves, Gazeil is also somewhat vain. She does not care much for her clothing when battle is concerned, but if one was to comment poorly on her appearance at a celebration, or something of the sort, she will be more offended than what a normal human would be.
- Because of her mild dislike for the Ancient Language, Gazeil is still able to perform magic, but since she lacks the drive to actually practice and teach herself more, or to find a tutor to help her the subject, she finds that her abilities are less than satisfying for one her age (even if age doesn't really count for much).
- Gazeil is very irrational, and one would describe her as a 'tank' in battle. Never the one to think things out with a calculating mind, that has usually gotten her into trouble many times, but she never seems to learn from her mistakes.
- Her looks are more human than elf, like Eragon when he was studying his reflection in Ellesmera. A ragged elf but would probably be considered as an attractive looking human (which also supported the reason as to why half of Teirm who knew her accused Gazeil of being impure).
