Full Name: Drästysu S'ilæphos
Other name: S'il
Race:: Elf Rider
Side: Varden
Birthplace:
Age: 133 Years
Gender: Male
Birthday: Autumn
Eyes: Green
Hair: Auburn
Weight: 56.69 kg
Height: 1.67 meters
Magic User: Yes
Preferred Weapon(s): Blue Dragon Rider Sword named Azul. (Seen:
Here.) Azul is a Hand-and-a-half sword, designed to be used for every situation Drästysu might have to come across. It could fight equally well in a large battlefield as it could in a tight hallway. It could be wielded effectively with either one or two hands, due to its slightly longer-than-normal handle, though it it was not a two-handed sword. The golden Glyph for "fire" ("Brisingr", in the ancient language, the name of the sword) was engraved on both the blade and the scabbard. The blade had ridges, and was slightly thinner at the tip, so as to pry open armor better than the swords that Rhunön had previously made. The entire sword, blade, handle, crossguard and sheath were a shimmering blue to match Kail's scales. It had a blue sapphire set in the pommel.
Personality: Due to a long period of isolation, Drästysu S'ilæphos, or S'il as he is more commonly called, is quite unique. Although he still had occasional elf contact when other elves delivered him provisions, the only company he really had was Kail, his dragon. Due to this, he seems to emulate the characteristics of a dragon. Although he once was a vegetarian too, he soon found the desire to be a predator of animals, and he began to eat his prey. Around people, he rarely speaks when not spoken to as he believes most conversations are pointless.
S'il is easily paranoid. Only trusting people who have showed him their worthiness, he believes others are a potential threat. Although he does not go as far as being hostile to such people, he does make a point to ignore them as best as he can. Combined with his lack of social interaction, as well as his unwillingness to befriend people easily, it is believed by some people that S'il is arrogant.
Appearance: Like most Elves, S'il is very light. Although due to eating some meat, as well as spending many years hunting prey, he is quite muscular. An intense face on a head with auburn hair covering two large, pointy ears adds more to the intimidating look his muscles provide. He wears a blue vest with a red cloak that covers his shoulders and leads down to the back of his legs. He wears leather leggings that are dyed blue along with his vest to honor Kail. He is relatively short as well, assuming a 'stout' appearance.
Until very recently, S'il had a bad habit of not cleaning himself. Dirt and grime covered him and the bottom of his cloak frayed. Finally after some time of being accepted back into civilization, he has started to clean himself. Although some people believe he has gotten a bit obsessive in this practive, going as far as having cleaning himself in the morning and then having a bath before sleeping, a luxury to most, but routine for him. Due to this, he always seems to be very clean.
Likes/Dislikes: S'il loves hunting, and has even established a code he abides by whilst hunting. He does not use magic to kill his prey, only bow and arrow, sword, or body. He does not hunt prey smaller than a deer either. When he is preparing his catch to eat, he does not use magic at all to prepare it. Nor does he take any of the remaining energy from the dying creatures. He believes that using magic in a hunt is dishonorable to the prey, and makes the predator look weak. This like is an emulation of the similar beliefs held by his dragon.
Other than hunting, S'il also enjoys fighting with his sword. He believes swordfighting is a virtue of being powerful, and therefore dedicates himself to the study of swordsmanship. At one point, he was quite impressive with the blade, but after being in isolation for so long without training on another opponent with his blade, his ability seems to have diminished a bit. He vows to improve his swordsmanship once again, and to continue to find ways to become better.
S'il loves flying with Kail. The isolation he spent with Kail only served to make their bond stronger. The two are nearly one. S'il finds flying with Kail to be the greatest war to have fun. Both the rider and dragon feel the same way about flying together.
S'il has many dislikes, but the greatest is his ineptitude to socialize with others. He mourns over this fact, and although he does not help the issue by avoiding extending social interactions, it still frustrates him. He has established the goal to have a friend some day and to be able to have an entire conversation without feeling awkward most of the time.
Strengths: As aforementioned, S'il is a good swordsman, although the time he spent without training against other opponents seems to have served to diminish his ability to a degree. Not only this, but he is strong at resisting mental invasion as well as initiating mental sieges. He takes pride in both of these abilities.
Weakness: S'il has trouble trusting, and therefore has trouble being loyal. Some find this disconcerting, and treat him with little to no respect at all.
Family: After so many years without contact, S'il has no knowledge of his family anymore. Although he does remember his father, Kristov, and his mother, Fantasia.
Not-So-Brief History: S'il came from a family of warriors. The House of S'ilæphos was known for breeding mighty warriors. When he turned twenty, the egg that his family was given as reward for their services hatched for him. The blue dragon and S'il became very close. It seemed his time in amongst the elves were short though, as nearly as soon as Kail was hatched, he was spirited away to Ilirea (Urû'baen), to train as a Dragon Rider. During his training, S'il was noted as a very dedicated student.
The reason for this was that S'il wanted to prove he was going to be a great Dragon Rider. Sadly, it seemed fate had other plans for him. As soon as his training was complete, and his intense service was going to be rewarded by the succession as an Elder Dragon Rider, turmoil struck. Galbatorix had betrayed the Dragon Riders, and started waging war against the riders with the other thirteen Dragon Riders who sided with him, known as 'Forsworn'.
The elves submitted to the war, and started to get involved. Amongst the elves that got involved was House S'ilæphos. This specific House was said to fight the most fiercely of all others. Sadly, S'ilæphos' involvement in the war forced them into extinction. They were all decimated, leaving only one grieving survivor: Drästysu S'ilæphos. S'il knew the war was lost. With the rumors of House S'ilæphos being entirely destroyed, he saw his opportunity to hide.
Returning back to Du Weldenvarden, he sought hospitality. His lack of stature amongst the elves reflected their treatment of him though. The elves seemed entirely unwilling to show the hospitality to S'il after all that he had done. Grief stricken from the loss of his friends, and the entire Dragon Rider order, he fell into despair.
He went an into immense resignation from the outside world -- even Kail -- and began a hermitage far away from civilization in Du Weldenvarden. It took twenty years before he finally began to speak with Kail again. After having only Kail's companionship, he began to take on dragon characteristics. He hunted for his food and no longer spoke out loud. After so many years in isolation, his sanity was nearly null. He lost some of the abilities he had in swordplay, and forget only the most basic of phrases in the ancient language.
Finally after all of those long years, he was sought out. Admitted back into Elf civilization, he was washed and fed much better than before. He was informed of the need of his services in the wavering Varden, and decided he was up for the task. With Kail as his companion, S'il set out to prove to all of Alagaësia that there was still another Dragon Rider.
Dragon Name: Kail
Dragon Age: 113 years old
Dragon Color: Blue
Dragon Personality: Kail is not social in the slightest. Perhaps a long time ago when he was being socialized with fellow dragons and riders in the days of the rider, but not now. He never contacts people -- he rarely speaks -- so if he has something to say, he has S'il convey the message to others.
Kail is very loyal to S'il, but as a dragon, he retains his independence. S'il respects this and has no problem with the hunts Kail goes on without him, however it is rare for Kail and S'il not to be flying together. Kail is an avid fighter, some go as far as saying he is the most bloodthirsty beast in the world. Due to this, he is rarely one to avoid conflict.
