Personality: Ventus is a very quiet and withdrawn person. He prefers solitude to company, and reading to socializing. He devotes much of his time to the study of Magic, and has become one of the greatest magic wielders the Riders ever knew. After the Fall, he became even more withdrawn, keeping company with only his dragon, IlnahrÃ. After her death and retreat to her EldunarÃ, he only talks when his voice in matters is needed gravely. Besides all that, he has a very caring and helpful personality, and will help any who need it, but only if it is innocent. In matters of war and the like, he is very serious and thinks everything through. He has been called a master strategist. There is sapphire in the guard of his blade, Shearer, and he stores all excess energy into that gem, with help from his dragon and any dying plants, animals, humans, elves, dwarfs, and Urgals.
Appearance: He wears a brown jerkin, white shirt, black bracers, black breeches, black greaves, brown leather boots, and a blue cloak, switching sometimes with green, and black when the situation calls. He has a belt around his waist which contains knives, herbs, food, and other such items. He also has a belt strapped across his back, which hold the scabbard for his blade, Shearer, and a sack containing IlnahrÃ’s EldunarÃ. He has a very soft face, slightly freckly, with deep set eyes. His build is thin and tall, with very little muscle. His eyes are light blue, and his pupils deep scarlet. The reason for this has never been confirmed.
Likes/Dislikes: Ventus enjoys reading, studying, practicing magic, sparring and discussing with his dragon in her EldunarÃ. He dislikes war, debate, suffering, famine, and other such things.
Strengths: He is a great scholar, magician and is very agile on the battlefield.
Weakness: He is very weak of body strength, and will only kill any he sees as an immediate threat.
Family: Ventus once had a mother, father, three sisters, and a brother. None of his direct family are alive. He is acquainted with his youngest sister’s daughter, Angela.
Not-So-Brief History: Ventus was born and raised until the age of fourteen in the then free city of Gil’ead, before the Fall. He was chosen at fourteen to become a Dragon Rider, and a extremely light blue dragon hatched for him, whom he named IlnahrÃ.
He then studied under the the Elder Oromis and his dragon Glaedr. He learned quickly, and flashed through the training years as if it were but a few months, becoming one of the greatest magicians in the Riders at that time and ever. By the age of 16, he was a fully fledged Rider. The Fall happened when he was 17. He and his dragon fought many battles, but fled soon after Galbatorix overthrew the Riders. He retreated to the dwarfen city of Tronjheim in the great crater, Farthen Dûr. He dwelt there for a number of years before moving to Buragh. It was during his time in Buragh that his Ilnahrà gave him her EldunarÃ. He later travelled to Ellesméra, in Du Weldernvarden.
While he and Ilnahrà were crossing the Hadarac Desert, they were attacked by a gang of Urgal Kull, whom were under the influence of the Shade Durza. They managed to escape with little damage save for a few minor cuts, but Ilnahrà was shot down by a bolt of Durza’s magic. He managed to escape Durza and came to Kirtan, then later to Ellesméra, where he met with his old masters, Oromis and Glaedr.
After spending some time in Ellesméra, he returned to Troinjheim and joined the Varden as an ordinary soldier and sorcerer. He took part in the Battle of Farthen Dûr. Ventus left the Varden soon after their move to Surda, and travelled Alagaësia, but returned to take part in all battles throughout the events of Eldest and Brisingr. He is currently travelling the Empire.
Anything extra: His magic is coloured light blue. Dragon is Ilnahrà and is coloured light blue.
