Full Name: Asher Avindel, Vardo Fra Freohr (Warded From Death)
Other name: Ash, Ancient One, Old One
Race:: Elf Rider
Side: Neutral
Birthplace: Ceris
Age: 2504 years old
Gender: Male
Birthday: The third day of the second Agaetí Blödhren.
Eyes: Sky blue sclera, with silver pupils, and golden irises.
Hair: Black, with some braids down to his shoulder blades.
Weight: 145 lbs
Height: 5'9"
Magic User: Yes
Preferred Weapon(s): A steel grey sword, made of brightsteel with a hematite set on the pommel. He also has a wooden bow and arrows, both sung from the wood of the tree-home he was born in.(Picture below.)
Personality: Unlike other Elves, Asher doesn't see the point in the Elves way of "telling the truth". He is always as blunt as possible, telling the truth and speaking his mind at all times, unlike the rest of his race, whom play games with words.
Also unlike other Elves, Asher doesn't live in Du Weldenvarden. He has devoted his life to traveling Alagaesia, and frequently makes fairths of amazing things he's seen. He also has a fairth of every city he's ever visited.
Appearance: As an Elf, Ash can use the Ancient Language to change his physical appearance, and, as soon as he could, he changed his eyes to give them their unique appearance. He also elongated his ears, so no one would mistake him for a human. Hidden at the nape of his neck, under his hair, is a yawe tattoo.
Likes: Traveling, mead, pastries, fairths.
Dislikes: Staying in one place for too long, word games, politics, and meat.
Strengths: Speed and strength of an elf, with a blade and bow to match his strength. Massive knowledge base to draw on when dealing with each other the sentient races.
Weakness: Overly fond of mead and pastries, to the point of being useless the day after consuming the two items. He is also, at times, overly-confidant, a fact that has, on two occasions, gotten him nearly killed.
Family: None. His parents were killed in the defense of Evandar at the Battle of Illirea.
His father, a Dragon Rider, used the last of his magic to send his sword, Aiedail, to his son, much like Arya sent the egg to Eragon.
Not-So-Brief History: Born in Ceris, Asher spent his entire life learning the sword, the bow, and magic. He frequently went before the eggs presented for potential Riders, but one never hatched for him. After a while, he stopped going to see the eggs when new ones were given to the Riders, and he started to travel.
For nearly 2000 years, he traveled all over Alagaesia, learning all he could about the different races that inhabit Alagaesia. He spent about 70 years living among the Urgralgra, the Knurlan, the dragons, and the humans. The only race he never got the chance to study were the werecats, as, even during the Riders Peace, they were scattered across the continent, and he could never find a place where they gathered in groups.
When Galbatorix began to rebel against the Riders, Asher was in Eoam, and couldn't make it back to the mainland in time to fight against Galbatorix and his Wyrdfell, as he refused to leave behind 2000 years worth of fairths. When he could finally get out of Eoam, and to the mainland, with his possessions intact, he made his way to Du Weldenvarden, where he learned what had happened.
When Galbatorix moved against Illirea, Asher wished to march there and help, but was asked by Evandar to stay and defend the forest, with the other Elves remaining. He did so, and knew, when his fathers sword appeared that Illirea had fallen. It was only when Oromis, Glaedar and Naudra returned to Du Weldenvarden, that the rest of the Elves knew. As soon as the wards were in place to protect the forest, Asher collected his belongings and left, to return to his travels, knowing that, for the moment, his people were safe from the mad king.
When word of Eragon began to spread, Asher once more began his travels towards Du Weldenvarden. Using magic, he began scrying the various cities, and, eventually, found where the Varden were, and traveled there, though he remained hidden from them, and their magic-users by secrets known only to the Elves.
Anything extra: His sword, Aiedail, once belonged to his father, a Rider of a grey dragon named Fundor. It is named Aiedail because of the unusual light that seems to come from the blade, as if it were a star in the night sky. Oddly, the sword only seems to shine at dusk and dawn, when the stars are first showing up and fading from sight.
He also has a necklace in the shape of a leaf, made of brightsteel. It once belonged to his mother, and is now his.
