History: on a cold August night two sharp cries lit up the night with wailing and crying. Two children, born of the same mother, born only a few minutes away from the other, brother and sister. Naomi was first, followed by her brother William, and little did the two know what they'd become when they grew older. The whole Varden seemed awake, not with anger at the crying, but pure happiness of the newest additions to the society.
The noble parents Bell and Gilan had some difficulty deciding on names, but the two finally came to terms with the names Naomi and William, or Will for short. Naomi stands for pleasant, while William stands for will and desire. Perfect names for the two bundles of joy, wrapped in smooth silk cloth to live out their months as babies. Oh, how troublesome they would be in the terrible twos. The family was rich, but they raised the two up to not be spoiled, teaching even William to do a woman's work while Naomi a man's work and vice versa. Neither minded much, enjoying the learning phases that traveled by.
The good times however could not last forever and Eventually as all parents do, They died. However William and Naomi’s parents did not die of old age or sickness they where killed as the story went by a empire ambush. Gilan who was the fighter of the two parents was taken down by a cowardly blow from below by a man who had been knocked down by Gilan’s own horse. Bell died trying to save her husband though and the over use of magic to try and revive the dead cost her her own life.
Word spread quickly and on a crisp august morning a rider approached the manor they children, nine at the time, stayed. William as was his custom enjoyed the morning chill of the air so he always woke upper early before anyone else did, thus he was the first to receive the news. He was devastated and William in a slightly numb state woke up the rest of the household, which included a older butler who was a good friend of his father, his family and then his sister. When the news was shared a second time it finally hit him and tears spilled down his face.
The butler who was a kind man then offered to take care of both Naomi and William, And in return for the kindness he had shown the young children after little hesitation they decided to share there money with the butlers family, making sure his young children had all the same things that the privileged should have.
Years slipped by in this fashion and before to long William reached his teen years. But that’s when trouble came, Word spread through out the manor that a bear had been spotted nearby heading for the property. William had then taken to patrolling at Night so as to make sure his family was not put in danger. But it was a normal march afternoon when the bear was finally spotted. William then watched as the bear merely moved past the compound, Escorting to small cubs with her. Then William and Naomi’s guardian came to check on him and saw the bear, noticing with satisfaction that he didn’t kill it.
“That is you right there William. A bear. Fiercely protective of your family. While trying to find your own place in this world. You may seem hostile to strangers but those who know you realize the truth.” The Guardian had said and William smiled in pride, It proved to be a defining moment in his life.
Then as William reached the end of his teen years there faithful guardian was struck with illness. And First he called Naomi to his death bed and gave her a horse, then he called William in and smiled faintly as he saw the now young man struggling to hold back tears. He gestured over to a small chest that lay in the corner of his room and asked William to bring it to him, Which he did noting the weight of it with curiosity. William set it on the bed and the now old man used some of his last strength, and Williams help to sit up. When he did he reached for a key on his dresser which William gave him. Then he unlocked the chest and opened the lid. “This is your fathers Sword, And his shield bearing the crest of this household I suppose these are yours now William, And though it saddens me I will not live to see the world that you and Naomi crest, I am positive it will be a better one…” he said which brought the tears William had been holding back tearing down his cheeks. He nodded and The faithful butler smiled and gestured to the open door. “Then go Young William of the Noble house Shay, Go and forge a better tomorrow.” He said before being wracked by a fit of coughing which brought him back down to a laying down position.
Within the week there mentor, father figure, And faithful servant of there father was dead. It was a mournful ceremony that left William feeling determined. And out he went, in surda Knightly titles where bought, Which he managed to buy. But instead of like some nobles just sitting back and relaxing in his estate. He went out a practiced combat. Becoming deadly with his sword. Naomi occasionally watched him during his practices and one day even came bearing a gift. A young horse, A Peruvian peso, As she called it. And William smiled accepting the horse great fully he then began including the horse in his practices, training both the horse and himself until he became deadly on his feet and on horseback.
When he finally finished his training William was older, Wiser and much stronger. And he went out to the Varden, learning some magic there from a healer, then the Varden seeing his potential allowed him to keep his title of Knight within the vardens ranks, And from there he became Sir William even though he despised the title. He did not want to be a war machine though, he wanted to adventure and travel with his Sister and so he longed for a time when he could go away for a time. But when he got that chance where would he go?
