Full Name: Eragon Bromsson
Other name: Shadeslayer, Argetlam, Shur'tugal, Firesword, The Last Free Rider, Bane of the Ra'zac, Elf Friend, Grand Master of the Dragon Rider Order
Race: Human (with some elf features)
Side: Varden
Birthplace: Carvahall
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Birthday: February
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Weight: 160lbs
Height: 5'10"
Magic User: Yes
Preferred Weapon(s): The Rider blade Brisingr. It is a hand-and-a-half sword forged by Eragon while Rhunon controlled his body, forged with brightsteel found under the Menoa tree. It is the same brilliant blue as Saphira's scales, and bursts into flame whenever Eragon speaks its name, possibly because he has a special connection to it, and possibly because it is the sword's true name in the Ancient Language. There is a sapphire in the pommel in which magic can be stored.
Appearance: Eragon's hair is brown, straight and some way between long and short, reaching about halfway down his neck at its longest. He pays little attention to it, so it is generally unkempt and all over the place. He has thick dark eyebrows, a similar colour to his hair, above intense brown eyes which gaze out stubbornly at the world. Since the Blood-Oath Celebration at Ellesmera, his appearance is distinctly more elf-like. While before his skin had been slightly tanned due to so much time outside, it is now paler, as though he avoids the sun. His eyes are slightly slanted and his ears somewhat pointed, although not to the same extent as that of an elf. Thick cheekbones make it clear he is human first and elf second, although his face is still more angular than it once was, his skin and complexion smoother. It is plain to look at him that he is not wholly human, but it is also clear that he is neither an elf or half-elf, but rather bears elven features.
He has a slight build, but ever since his training as a Rider first began with Brom, he has built up a lean yet muscular stature, with the strength and speed of an elf, although not their grace. His movements are more clumsy than those of an elf, yet he can still strike with precision in combat and can move extremely quietly, he simply lacks the powerful grace the elves are famed for. His appearance his somewhat harsher than the soft and gentle-looking elves, but he is no less dangerous. His senses as well as his strength are heightened to elvish levels.
Eragon prefers to dress in simple clothes made from comfortable material, but will often wear thin shirts to wear underneath chainmail. When wearing armour, he wears chainmail or plate armour, not bothered so much by the weight of it, glad to have the extra protection.
Personality: Eragon is curious and a quick learner, always asking questions to increase his knowledge and learn more. He can be very impatient in this sense, unwilling to wait to work something out for himself, preferring to just have someone explain it to him then. He can get frustrated if he doesn't pick something up fast enough, be that a new skill, strategy or idea. Persistence stems from this, driving him to work hard with determination for at least short amounts of time at something. Again, his patience can be short, so he can grow angry and frustrated, at which point he won't really grasp whatever it is he is trying to learn. Swordfighting and magic were skills he was able to pick up astonishingly quickly, even for a Rider. This is due to his determination, hard work, and ability to grasp things very quickly, as well as the huge amount of pressure he was under at the time.
With the huge responsibility as the first of the new Dragon Riders and the task to help the Varden overthrow the Empire and kill Galbatorix, he feels under a lot of pressure and blames himself for issues a lot. This leads him to being protective of those around him, especially family and close friends such as Arya. This pressure increases his short temper, his frustration taking over and dunking him into burst of anger. He rarely lashes out, but is prone to shouting at people when he cannot get them to see his way. He is hasty, tying in again with him impatience. Since he is so stubborn, he refuses to let his own ideas go, and will argue his side even when it seems pointless. His pride refuses him to back down and let another person win an argument.
Eragon has a lot of power as well as a lot of potential. He is strong and good at fighting and magic, being creative enough to cast complex spells with a few words. He is cautious about casting complex spells, however, because of what happened when he misspoke when blessing Elva. He becomes very focused when fighting or using magic, able to target his full concentration on the one task.
--->Likes: Justice, dragons, protecting people, the Varden
--->Dislikes: Unfairness, waiting, killing, the Empire
--->Strengths: Quick learner, powerful magic, swordsmanship, strong sense of justice
--->Weakness: Saphira, proud, stubborn, arrogant, impatient

History: This is just a rough summary, because otherwise I would have to type out the entire Inheritance cycle, which I don't want to do. Hopefully you're familiar enough with it to fill in the details.
Eragon was born in Carvahall, his mother Selena having fled from Morzan's castle to give birth for fear that he would beat him as he did Murtagh. Eragon's father was Brom, something he did not find out until he was much older. After his birth, he was named by his mother and left in the care of his aunt Marian and his uncle Garrow. Selena then returned to Morzan's castle, dying not long after. Eragon grew up unknowing of his parentage, believing him to be a simple farmer. Marian died when he was fairly young, leaving him with Garrow and his cousin, Roran, whom he thought of as a brother.
After finding Saphira's egg in the Spine, he tried to sell it before it hatched. As the Empire quelled all talk of the Dragon Riders, he had no idea what to do with the dragon or how to raise it, hiding it in the woods. When the dragon was a month old, it spoke his name, making him realise it was his equal, not a regular animal. He found a list of names as well as some more information from Brom, the local storyteller, whom he was unaware was his father watching out for him his whole life. The dragon turned out to be female, and chose the name Saphira.
The Ra'zac hunted Saphira's egg down and burned the farm, killing Garrow. Roran had already left with Katrina. Brom saved Eragon, who then fled on Saphira's back, but was wounded by her scales. After recovering, he, Brom and Saphira left Carvahall to track down the Ra'zac and to avoid any Empire soldiers that may come after them following the failure to find what they still thought would be an egg. Brom began teaching Eragon, giving the red Rider's blade Zar'roc. Along the way, they met Angela and Solumbum, who told Eragon's fortune, the werecat giving him a considerably more cryptic message on behalf of the Eldunari in the Vault of Souls.
At Dras-Leona, they were ambushed by the Ra'zac. Eragon survived thanks to Murtagh, but Brom was fatally injured. It was here that Brom revealed to Eragon that he too had been the Rider of a dragon named Saphira. Once buried, Eragon's Saphira used her strange dragon magic to turn his grave into diamond, preserving him indefinitely. Eragon carved writing into this, then decided to head to the Varden with Murtagh.
Near Gil'ead, Eragon was captured by the Sahde Durza. He was rescued by Saphira and Murtagh. They were able to hold off Durza as Murtagh shot an arrow into his head, although this did not kill him. They also freed Arya here, as Eragon had been having visions of her. She remained unconscious throughout their journey to the Beor Mountains. Despite this, Eragon could contact her mind and received a map to the Varden, as well as instruction that she had been poisoned and would die soon.
Upon reaching the Varden, their minds were searched, and Murtagh was locked away purely for being Morzan's son, something Eragon was angry about. Eragon and Saphira were very much welcomed as people who could turn the Varden's situation around and make them a stronger threat to the Empire, while Arya was treated for her injuries. They all, including Murtagh, fought in the battle of Tronjheim. Eragon once again fought Durza, who managed to give him a cursed wound across his back. Arya and Saphira broke the Isidar Mithrim, distracting Durza long enough for Eragon to stab him in the heart, killing him. The remaining Urgals fled, and the battle was won. It wasn't all good, however; Ajihad was killed, and the twins betrayed the Varden, taking Murtagh to the Empire.
Eragon then made his way to Ellesmera for further training. Before he left, king Hrothgar offered to adopt him into his own clan, which Eragon accepted, thus becoming Orik's adopted brother. Once in Ellesmera, Eragon was trained by the powerful, wise and ancient Rider Oromis, along with his three-legged dragon Glaedr. He learned elven customs and became stronger, learning the Ancient Language. Whilst there, he was lucky enough to attend the Blood-Oath Celebration, composing a poem for the event. He was gifted by being healed of all wounds, including the cursed scar from Durza, and was granted a stronger elven body, increasing his senses, strength, speed, and magical abilities.
Having scried Nasuada, Eragon returned to fight with the Varden and Surda against the Empire on the Burning Planes. He fought against a new Rider and his red dragon, discovering it to be Murtagh, whom he had assumed was dead, after knocking off his helmet. He learned that Murtagh had been forced to swear alliance against his will to Galbatorix, but was shown mercy after being defeated, Murtagh taking Zar'roc and telling him he was the son of Morzan. Around this time, he was reunited with Roran, who had found them after saving the people of Carvahall.
At Helgrind, Eragon and Roran fought and killed the Ra'zac, Saphira killing the Lethrblaka. Roran rescued Katrina, and Eragon discovered Sloan, whom he sent to Ellesmera and cursed to never again see Katrina after discovering his true name, this being a punishment for betraying Carvahall.
Roran and Katrina were to marry after returning to the Varden, but before the ceremony could begin, Murtagh and Thorn attacked again. This time, with help, Eragon was able to fight him into a stalemate. He left, promising he would be stronger next time. Eragon was then able to marry Roran and Katrina, giving them each a ring that would enable them to sense the other's presence and safety.
Eragon went to Tronjheim then, but the dwarf Az Sweldn rak Anhuin attempted to assassinate him. As a result, his clan was banished until they chose a new leader. Orik was make the new king of the dwarves, and Eragon headed for Ellesmera again while he prepared to assist the Varden.
At Ellesmera, Eragon learned of Eldunari from Glaedr, who gave his Eldunari to Eragon and Saphira in case he should die. Eragon asked Rhunon for a new sword, too, who rejected him until he returned from the Menoa tree with the brightsteel needed. She agreed, but worked by controlling his body so that her hands did not make the blade. Eragon named the weapon Brisingr.
Saphira and Eragon saved Arya and Blodhgarm at the seige of Feinster, where they were too late to prevent the creation of the Shade Varaug. Arya was able to kill him while Eragon distracted him with a mental battle. Through Glaedr's Eldunari, he was able to see the deaths of Oromis and Glaedr when Galbatorix possessed Murtagh. This was an immense loss to both him and Saphira, whom had lost one of the four remaining members of her species. They vowed to keep Glaedr's Eldunari safe.
Eragon and Saphira fought alongside the Varden at the battle of Belatona, helping to secure a victory for the Varden. He trained some of the new Riders which were starting to emerge, finding it strange to be taking on the extra responsibility so soon.
After this, Arya went missing. Without thinking, Eragon volunteered to join the search party, deeply concerned for her safety. He assumed they would find her soon, but time dragged by and he began to feel guilty about being absent from the Varden for so long. Still, he could not give up hope for his search. Just as he was finally decided to return to the Varden to help them and try and find out more about where she could have gone, he himself was kidnapped. The great wild dragon of the North, Odin, and his collection of witch worshipers, contained him and Saphira, keeping them barely conscious. They worked magic to slowly build up a secret, hidden connection which would be impossible to detect. This turned Eragon and Saphira into time bombs, ready to be possessed when the time was right. In the meantime, they were left with not recollection of the witches or the wild dragons, wondering the North injured and confused.
Name: Saphira (Bjartskula, Brightscales, Saphira II, Flametongue)

Birthplace: Eragon's room, Carvahall
Was his/her egg in the wild or with the empire/varden: Wild

Age: A year and a half
Gender: Female
Eyes: Sapphire
Scale Color: An intense radiating sapphire
Appearance: Saphira is an average sized dragon for her age, having had no extra magic to increase her growth. She is very elegant, taking great pride and care in her appearance. Her scales gleam brightly from the care she takes in polishing them, her claws and teeth maintained to be long and sharp. Her huge wingspan is enough to allow her to fly through the air with ease and grace. She is naturally very streamlined, allowing her to make difficult maneuvers in the air. White spikes are dotted along her spine.
Personality: Saphira is strong, intelligent, and proud. She holds herself very highly, believing herself to be the most beautiful dragon alive. Her strong will make her intimidating to any who might dispute this. This strong, powerful nature can make it uncomfortable to be around her, but once she trusts someone, she can be gentle and caring. Mostly, she will trust anyone who Eragon does, although there are some people she will still disapprove of despite his feelings or relationship with them.
