As Nepherion pondered on Eragon's and Saphira's words, Starlight suddenly spoke to him. Wishing you hadn't had said that now ? Starlight's voice was more calm, it lingered with empathy and sympathy all at the same time. Nepherion let out a sigh, before rubbing the back of his head. His thoughts begin to reach around, grasping for a way to get around his recent statement. With Saphira and Eragon mentioning the fact that they could probably carry a couple of the hatchlings along with them and possibly get some training in on the way, it made him realize why he had felt regret earlier. Nepherion looked towards Starlight, nudging him as he brought their minds away from the others. Do me a favor. He said tentatively.
After Starlight hadn't responded, Nepherion went ahead and continued. Mind finding a way for us to go. I don't wanna look bad... A slight growl emanated from Starlight as he considered it. In the confines of the bonded space, Nepherion could feel Starlight's tail sweeping the dirt around him- from outside. The dragon's thoughts were drilling on the fact, that his rider had already spoken aloud on his decision and was now wondering how he would get them out of the situation. After a short moment of deliberation, Starlight returned. I will handle this. Just don't interfere with my words. Nepherion smiled gratefully in his little area around the Varden residents.
Starlight raised his head up towards Saphira's snout, than spoke to everyone that was in the loop of mental-sharing. I have decided to come along...Regardless of my Rider's decision. You will need someone that is young enough to be believable, but also old enough to speak for the little ones. I consider myself the perfect spokesman for the hatchlings. Hopefully no one disagrees. Nepherion eyes were widened in shock, he wasn't expecting Starlight to be so straightforward. Truth be told, Starlight was the youngest of them all. How he had grown at a rate faster than Sephora was already a mystery. And on top of that, now he had to find some way to fit in with the dragon's words. He thought hard for moment, trying to exhaust any words that would sound unlike his own.Than he said. I agree with Starlight. A frustrated breathe was released as spoke and rubbed the back of his head. I doubt me and him would have been any good here anyway. Nepherion stated grimly.
He turned to Nasuada with a bead of sweat dropping from his jaw and bowed deeply. His voice was suddenly raised in a high-pitched and fast tone that expressed nothing other than fear. I'm sorry for my dragon's rude comment. As always the final verdict rests on your shoulders Lady Nasuada. He said, his head still bowed. His eyes peered at the dirt floor as he expected nothing but punishment for the dragon's mouth. Before even arriving to the Varden he had hear horrors about her cruel and harsh punishments. From the stories, it was said that she was a wise and fair leader, but she didn't give mercy to anyone who broke the law, even the great Roran Stronghammer. Nepherion hadn't wanted to be chained and whipped.

Sephora was thrilled at the mention that hatchlings might be useful in this trip. She would be more than delighted to go and by the time they got back maybe she'd be big enough to actually help fight. She knew if she and Caspian went her rider would have to ride with another dragon as she was not big enough. She was a bit disappointed that she was not big enough yet but at least there was a chance they could go. She glanced at where Glaedr's Eldunari was, she'd maybe get a chance to talk to him too on the trip, something about him intrigued her.

Zander straightened up as he became irritated. The youngest dragon had just acted like a great jerk. His rider had just backed out of the camp's defense and was begging for mercy. You call yourself a rider? Riders don't try to gain fame and glory by taking their just hatched dragon on a mission meant for rideable dragons. You are acting like a rider such as Morzan, who was the first Forsworn. We don't need one like him again! Zander grumbled about how the rider was worthless.
Glaeran chuckled like a dragon and spoke. Young dragon, you are the youngest. I feel that since you CAN'T fly, there is no reason for you to be going. You would be better here where we could keep you safe.

A messenger burst into the tent. He had just started his shift and was half awake when the sparrow appeared. It was important, not just for Eragon, but the Varden as well. My Lady, Eragon, everyone else...a messenger bird arrived. The bird carried a note from the Elven Prince. It's for Eragon... The messenger gave a guard the note, bowed, and left.

(( Will let you get away with the NPC-ness flamebreathe since I was crap and didn't realise I was expected in that thread! I am so sorry - Slipped my mind - no problem will get on that next )) From the moment he commented on his determination to join them, Saphira eyed Starlight - not in a malicious sense but more one of thoughtful curiousity. She personally would like him along, as he was right about it - they could do with a few dragons of all ages and what better way to train them than on the wing - away from the pressures of human beaocracy? Any fears of Rider's being influenced by any other race would dissapate. She kept these thoughts closed, however. For now. She wished to see what the others said of it. She reacted harshly in response to Zander's words, throwing words like Forsworn and Morzan about so readily. Her neck coiled back and she gave a low, persistent hiss, sapphire eyes on Zander. ''It sounded much like Starlight wishes to go; reguardless. Throwing around foolish accusations li-''[/i]. The potential tirade was doused by Eragon striding in here, after he walked to the guard and took the note that had just arrived by messenger and slipping it into his pocket- that could wait for now. ''I think the point is; for this to work, I think there should be a level of choice here somewhere; to exclude that from the decision would not be fair.'' Saphira blinked at Eragon in suprise before settling down, visibly calming, though she went no further. Eragon looked to Lady Nasuada; waiting to see her response.

Arya was content in listening to the way the conversation was going and not offering her voice to the occasion. She had nothing to say on the matter, even when Eragon asked her if she liked his idea. Nausada was in charge here so if she didn't like the idea she could speak. Arya was here until her mother hurried up and sat as spokesperson for the Elven race. Then Arya could focus on helping training the men around here. Testing her own skills and honing them in. While training with Eragon was interesting he had not yet managed to pose much of a threat to her, nor force her to think of her fighting style. His guards did often enough, especially their leader, but they were fellow elves and they had trained with her since she was a child. They new the same tricks as she did. She couldn't help but glance up at the man who claimed to have a message from the elven prince though. That piqued her interest. What would her relatives want with Eragon, besides for him to re-join them in a safer world away from war. While her race was honorable she had no doubt they would always look out for themselves first. She knew her mother would not put her people in danger without a good reason, hence why they hadn't fought openly before. Not before now. Arya pursed her lips together then, her previously cold and distant mind now spoke within the circle.
A choice is always needed, but I'm sure if you allowed everyone their first choice there would be no dragons or riders here left to defend Alagasa, she looked around the circle. Would any of them say they honestly would not like to make the journey to discover their race once more? Would they shy away from that? A proud race like the dragons? She thought not. Some would have to sacrifice their first choice but of their own accord. I doubt you would be received very well with your riders, but then if you are to coax them out they need to know not all riders are evil. Besides, she looked between them both, marvelling at how they had both grown. You're stronger together.
Issie had also picked up on the fact that the messenger had said Elven Prince. She cast a sly glance to Arya to see what she thought but saw only a flicker of curiosity before it was gone. She was glad that she had spoken again, she had feared for a moment she had been hurt badly and would stay quiet for the rest of the meeting. While she had spoken with little emotion in her voice unlike the previous time, she had spoken which was a start. To her surprise, it was Tierar who spoke on their behalf, the diamond dragon arched her neck, stretching it out. She didn't like having half her body sticking out of a tent.
We will stay behind. Izzie and I have trained together for a while and though I would love to go with you, I think our skills would be more appreciated around here. We ca help with the training at home while you are away.

Zander grew even more agitated at the tirade that the older dragon had. It was like she thought that the people under her were weaker in spirit. I have no anger toward you Saphira. Yet if we are afraid of using the names of our enemies then we repeat the past mistakes. Have any of you forgotten that we were just besieged by several battalions of Empire soldiers. The soldiers were led by Murtagh and several other riders. Galbatorix has enough riders that the Forsworn could rise again. I for one will not lie down in fear.
Glaeran snorted in surprise. His own rider had just given arguments that an older dragon would've been proud of. Yet these words could have Zander executed. My rider speaks the truth. We should not have the camp laid bare by these new riders. Maybe this Elven Prince could help. Arya, what do you know about him? You would be his sister, after all.

Sephora was very young, and inexperienced. She listened to the conversation but names like Morzan and Forsworn meant nothing to her. She had no idea what they were talking about. Both she and her rider were quiet innocent and unaware of even the history of the land let alone the importance of this mission. All Sephora knew was that's where Saphira and Glaedr were going. So she wanted to go too plus they'd meet other dragons.
"Does this mean I can go, oh and my rider too?" she asked hopefully. She was completely innocent in asking the question. She didn't understand the situation. That was another thing. Most dragons matured and grew very fast. Sephora on the other hand was growing about only 1/3 as fast as she was supposed to. She looked like a baby dragon still no bigger than the size of a medium dog.

Saphira had been calmed somewhat by Eragon's words; though she seethed slightly as Zander carried on. ''I do not fear them, or their names. I only meant we cannot go accusing each other of being Forsworn. That can be far more deadly; planting the seeds of hate and mistrust was another tool Morzan used - to great, devastating effect.''[/i] her voice was calm, yet a short hiss escaped her afterwards, not in anger but distaste at the words.
Eragon remained silent, frowning. He stood by Saphira's head and laid a hand on her cheek. She rumbled gently and wilted. ''We all know of the hardships we have faced, Zander.'' he did not comment on the Elven Prince; he himself only had a vague idea of who this Prince could be. ((I forget if Arya actually HAS any brothers in the book...so..))

Nepherion was still bowed when Zander's words reached his ears. Beneath the shadows of his own hair his eyes widen in shock at the boy's audacity. He had learn little of the Forsworn from Nandon, but he knew Morzan was the strongest of them all and a dragon-killer. It was embarrassing and more than infuriating to be compared to someone like him. He brought himself up from the bow and turned towards Zander, his fist and teeth were clenched. " What did yo !! - " He begun, only to be interrupted by Saphira. Nepherion was sure that if not for her the situation would have quickly escalated. Cause right now, he was itching to teach the boy a lesson.
Hearing Eragon and the elves speak calmed him slightly but his tension was still evident. Nepherion was crouched inward as if he was expecting to fight. He may have been the child of a pair of bookworms, but he did not share their blood. The pacifist trait didn't run strong in his veins like theirs. Then suddenly a angered voice shouted into the minds of everyone. No one calls my Rider a dragon-killer.. Starlight bellowed. His white scales seemed to shimmer along his neck as his snarled-jaws showed his fangs. A low, rumbling growled escaped his throat. If not for Saphira and Glaedr, I would rip you and your Rider apart !! Nepherion was surprised at the anger that was emanating from Starlight, he wasn't even this mad and he was the one insulted.
The anger unsettled Nepherion, feeling it from the outside wasn't the same as the inside. It was, hungry as if anything that was said would feed it and make it grow. Nepherion wanted to quell it quickly, Starlight's anger was ravenous and wouldn't cease until he vented it. With a snapping motion, Nepherion brought his hand to his side, as if to halt Starlight's piercing gaze. " Isn't this why we're here." he begun. " We're trying to solve this rising problem. We can't if we're fighting among each other. While others are throwing around insults for the heck of it, the rest of us are actually trying to solve this problem. Glaeran, I have no issues with you...But I won't be called Morzan again. " His voice begin to edge onto a threatening tone as he continued. " Call me that again and it won't end the same. " Nepherion was silent, he wanted to allow his words to sink in, but he was sure Glaeran would have something to say. His face softened out from his rugged grimace and into a more harden-empathetic expression.
His words had covered Starlight's anger, almost like a veil that was smothering it out. Starlight's expression seemed to die out as well, his crimson eye blinked once before changing his glance back to Saphira. Saphira Bjartskular you have my thanks for defending my Rider. It means alot to me.. You as well Aragon Shadeslayer. His voice was regal and juvenile. His fading anger left a tainted feel in the room, as if anything could go wrong again. Nepherion turned his attention back to Eragon and the others, folding his arms against his chest. " Like I said. I wouldn't do much of any good here. Plus the training would strengthen my... demeanor. " He no longer saw the need for beating around the bush. It seemed like now was the time to put everything on the table.

Zander grimaced as the dragon, Starlight, flipped out. It was, after all, her rider that was being scrutinized. Yet Zander never said that Nepherion was Morzan. I never said you were Morzan. I said that thinking only of yourself and not of the good of the people is what Morzan did. If anything, I act like Morzan at times. My thoughts are always really violent when things get escalated. But we all need to be better. I am sorry Starlight and Nepherion. Glaeran was really impressed when his rider was so apologetic and accepting. Well said Young One. Shall we proceed with our planning?
