EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (t3h gold Dragon is Glaedr) I think the spirits that sorcerors and Dragon Riders use are more along the lines of elemental spirits... but the Shades are "occupied" by spirits that I am guessing more along the lines of ghost-type spirits...

Yes, the way CP described the Shades, they seem to be people who are possessed by a ghost, powerful ghosts who can use magic at that. So he kind of throws us in for a loop on the point of afterlife/spirits or no afterlife/spirits.

We should look at it literally, because CP thinks that there is nothing after death, he states that quite clearly in Eldest. I think Arya is likely, why would CP build it up so much then just forget about it? Just curious.. where does he say that? Okay, on PG440 of Eldest, about two thirds down the page, it says: "Extending the needle-sharp tip of his foreclaw, Glaedr flipped over a rock to expose a woodrat cowering in its nest. He snapped up the rat with a flash of his red toung; Eragon winced as he felt the animal's life extinguished. ' When flesh is destroyed, so is the soul,' said Glaedr. 'But an animal isn't a person,' protested Eragon. ' After all your meditations, do you truely belive that any of us are so different from a woodrat?" I could go further and say that CP is a total athiest with some more qotes, but that is another argument for another time.

K.. I see your point. But in response to that, I could point out numerous things that would hint that CP is LDS (Mormon), or knows a whole lot about them. But until Empire comes out, I think I'll keep these theories to myself and my friend.. then I'll explain them all.

I'd love to hear them, I don't know enough about the mormons to really read anything that hinted at it. But, yeah, that is an argument for after book three comes out, a lot of things can happen in a ending.

Yeah, that was basically the quote I was talking about. But that still clashes with the Sorcerers idea where they summon spirits (souls) and use them for magical purposes.

I think in CP's world, spirts never were people, and they never will be. They are just part of the magic that is part of Alageisia.

CP a Latter Day Saint? Wow, there's a thought. I'm curious to see your point in believing that. Oh, and I heard a podcast on shurtugal.com, and CP talked about the whole spirit-thingie. Check it out if you want, it's Manin,Wyrda,Hugin ep 5, I think...

All will be told once Empire comes out, so not for some time. For now my friend and I have some good proof to back up our theory, but until Empire comes out and we can read the last clues to the puzzle, we won't be publishing our ideas. So you'll just have to be patient because our theory is much more elaborate than just CP being LDS, trust me.

you guys have some really great theories, i was just reading what you were saying about spirits and stuff and how you were able to reference that thing Glaedr said in the book, i could never be that efficient in proving a point. just though i'd tell you that.

Maybe CP doesn't show his own religion in his book ,or maybe he does but he doesn't favor it because it is one of many. As Ragond said he showed some atheist points of views and theres also mormons. So couldn't it be possible that he isn't really bringing out his own religion, but trying to amaze us once again by showing us the different religions and beliefs of Alagaesia?

lol... That is what i was thinking... I mean, i know alot about Mormons(of course being one) but there seems to be a mixture of "religions" in general, maybe not just like the ones we have now, but others... For Example, the Dwarfs-they have god(s) they believe created them(sorry i forgot his name) then you have the Elves- that don't believe in gods, persay. They are kind of like certain religions, but not exactly... I think CP looked at what our world is like, looked at its beliefs, to help him have a base on what these people believed in... just a thought though...

I could care less what religion he is.
But what if Eragon's feelings are never reciprocated?
Does the romance that Angela profecied necessarily mean that someone else will fall for him, or could he just fall for Arya and nothing truly happens in the book?
I personally would like Eragon to match up with Arya, but I also like to look at the small possibilities.

I'm writing a small editorial about that exact subject right now, actually. So once it's done I'll post it somewhere for everyone to read, but it's not done yet.

I've been convinced that Arya would be good for Eragon, and vise versa. So I support them!!

Well, looks like that may happen on this forum, provided Eragon doesn't make a compleat fool of himself . (just read up on the later posts in the feast topic) I don't paticularly care about CP's religion either, but I did think it bore wheight in the discussion, cuz someone mentioned something about their love going on after they died or something, I'm to lazy to read it again.

Lol, aye, too lazy indeed. Felt that way many times. And I'd just like to say that after rereading Eldest, Arya seems to have a little interest in Eragon, though she does appear to sincerely wish not to interfere with Eragon in any way. She takes Eragon's compliments just fine when she was unaware of how much she meant to him, which I'm not sure what exactly that means. Argh, confusing women.

lol... You should know that arya... lol... I also don't think that CP just brought in his religion, but life itself... You know? He lives in Montana, doesn't he? Idk... but if so, then thats where he based these books off of... Which, I can see why. Montana is a beautiful place, and all of Alagaesia seems like montana too me... How he describes it, it seems like you are just in the middle of the forest, and the towns in Alagaesia are like the cities in montana... idk... just bringing up alittle point to add to the pile...
