Brenton felt the magic begin to ebb back to him as the walls around him grew warmer and had less grime and blood. The elven Prince wanted to scream in anger as he reached for Vaentr just to remember that the dragon who had been with him for years was now dead and that he couldn't be picked up as soon as he escaped this hell hole. Yet that would only send an alert to the guards that Brenton had escaped from the cell and was on his way out.
Brenton made it to the second floor, one down from the ground level, when a siren went off from below him. The elf cursed and took off at a speed that was inhuman. Brenton swung past a door and caught the glitter of the teal colored sword, Undbitr, and the flash of a pale blue that was only known to him as Vaentr's eldunari. He had to retrieve them, so Brenton dashed in and grabbed his sword and other belongings so that he could get out of there with everything. Yet on his way back out, Brenton came face-to-face with a pale shade that was vaguely exotic. Yet the shade fit the description that Link had given him. Without thinking, the elf stabbed his borrowed sword through the demon's jaw and up so that it went out the back of his skull.
Brenton dashed off through the cloud of ash and up the stairs. Battallions of soldiers were streaming through the halls below him and he was able to get free. Brenton skidded to a stop in the alley beside the cell and tried to catch his breathe. The elf looked around and tried to find people who would be allies. Hopefully Kriss had made it to the Crags in time to be trained.

Aysten sat in the back alley that had become his home in recent years... his once nice. Clean clothes where now tattered and the color was fading f.rom them and he was alone. Nandon had left him with nothing but enough gold to get to dras leona and a pair of replica daggers which where laying at his side currently. He chose to be next to the prisons for a reason... mainly the fact that the guards would give him any leftovers... like he was the prisons pet... and while this killed his pride. It kept him alive. The second reason he was next to the prison was because he could see if a new prisoner was brought in... and since aysten assumed nandon to be alive he had waited. But suddenly a siren went off tearing aysten from any thoughts he was having and he jumped up scared by the new sound piccking up the daggers he placed them in the back of his pants and had just enough time to do this before a elf rushed out the door slamming it back on its hinges... blinking and still trying to process what had happened he blurted out "who the devil are you!"

Brenton was just about to stand up and take off for a new hiding place when someone spoke in shock. The elf spun around and placed his hand on the hilt of his sword with no air of anger, just surprise. Before he answered, the Prince jumped over the trash cans and walked around the other corner, effectively hiding himself from all but the human who had asked who he was. I am Prince Brenton, son of the elven queen and rider of... Brenton almost said Vaentr's name before choking up and stopping himself. That doesn't matter anymore. Anyhow, I am in need of making it to my pupil, Feanaro Shadeslayer, before something strange happens to him.
The Prince was about to move on and find a horse when he suddenly realized that the human was hiding next to a prison full of captives to the Empire. He turned back to the human and spoke in suspicion. How is it that you are hiding beside the prisons with a pair of daggers that I have only seen once before? Brenton vaguely remembered seeing something like the daggers on his old ally Nandon but he wasn't sure. Have you seen an elf named Nandon before? Brenton decided he would ask just to be safe.

StAysten blinked at the elf as he was overwhelmed by information then suddenly one of the names clicked... feanaro...and ... nandon.."how do you know nandon? And this feanaro... i need to get a message to him if you can help me reach him..." aysten said quickly and as thoughts of nandon surfaced thoughts of alyssa did to and aysten struggled to hold back tears though his eyes shone a bit... then seeming to remember his manors aysten said. "I am aysten gilansson... and i can help you get out of the city though it may require a bit of magic..."

Brenton sighed as he remembered he fight that had been won back when he had saved Nandon from the cell just beyond the city. He didn't want to say too much but Aysten deserved an explanation for why he was here. Yeah, I know Nandon. He was an ally in a great battle that happened outside this very city back when I was forced to save him a few years ago. ((Brenton has been in captivity for a couple years.)) And I am here because I was saving a kid's life. As a matter of fact, he should be near Feanaro if not already there. To respond to the needed magic, Brenton forced himself to get over the queasiness and he lit a small spark of fire over his thumb and then cast it to the ground where it hovered as a ghost flame. Brenton snuffed it out and then stood up in a slouched position.

Aysten jumped as breton summoned the spark as he had meant the magic thing as more of a joke than anything. "Hmmm interesting... well if i can get you out of this city can you take me to feanaro? The last time i saw nandon he gave me a message for him..."aysten aysten said then looked down at the ground then back up. " if you can do magic... that makes this much easier...i need you... to become... a horse..."

Brenton gaped at Aysten for a few seconds and then replied. Sorry kid, just got out of a cell where they suppress your magic. Basic is all I got for now. Although I have an idea. Brenton cast his mind out and called two horses to them and then swung up onto the back of his horse when it got there. Let's be off! Brenton's horse shot off for the walls of Dras Leona.

Aysten bristled a bit at being called a kid but then blinked as the two horses came and breton took off with one... slowly aysten crawled up onto the side of one and took off in persuit.

As the wind whipped at Brenton's tattered cloak and long, ragged hair, he remembered how he had showed up in that tavern that was just across the street. He could still see the burn mark where the black flames had destroyed the only link to his heart, Vaentr. The elf prince forced his gaze away from that part of the city and slowed down as they neared the gates. Hopefully the guards wouldn't recognize him and try to take him into custody again. Suddenly Aysten caught up to him and Brenton turned to the younger man on the black mare that he had called to them. There may be some trouble up ahead. I just killed a commanding officer in the Imperial Army that serves the King himself. If things turn ugly, I want you to spur that mare into a gallop and don't stop until you reach the edge of the Hadarac. When there stop and hide yourself. I will join you after I take care of the soldiers.
As soon as Brenton finished his sentence, a pair of guards stepped out of the guardhouse in front of the portcullis that was halfway closed but stopped. Brenton swore in Elvish and then looked to the stars. "May the stars guide you..." That was the last thing that he had said to Kriss before he had been captured by the soldiers. Now he was in a position to protect one who had been saved by Nandon, and Brenton feared that his former ally had been killed by now. It wasn't good since Brenton had just barely escaped alive and now that he was a free man, the very people he had escaped from were in front of him.
Brenton looked at his clothes that were in a state of disrepair. The cloth was shredded and dirty to an extreme. He had bruises across his face and had been cut several times while trying to fight the Empire. Yet that didn't matter, for suddenly Saphira contacted him. The guards are afraid. They see a fugitive riding a horse straight for them after killing their commander. Keep riding forward and maybe they will move. If not, fight to get Aysten away from them. Nandon wouldn't have died just to let it be in vain. With that, Brenton spurred his horse forward and bashed one soldier in the skull before the other soldier grabbed his arm and slammed him to the ground. In a snarl, the elven prince pushed up and slammed his fist into the male's face where the jaw met the skull. That was all he needed to do to stun the human except the human was resistant to pain. The soldier took the time to grimace and then he unsheathed a dagger and placed it to Brenton's throat. You should've stayed in your cell where we could just keep you alive. Now I will kill you and say it was an accident. That is, right after we kill the street urchin with you first. The soldier went to grab Aysten when Brenton cursed and sent a powerful blast of blue energy into the soldier's chest that was strong enough to tear the man's torso from his neck and effectively kill him.
The Prince jumped up and dashed forward while yelling for Aysten to follow on the horse. He didn't have time to remount the stallion he had had. No, now it was time to rely upon his elfin lineage.

Aysten gulped and nodden at breton as he saw the soldiers come out of no where... then in a matter of seconds breton was on the ground being held by a soldier then suddenly breton was back on his horse screaming towards aysten to follow. Then from behind a pike flashed past him and almost hit his horse untill at the last mot a sixth sense came on and it veered slightly to the left. Turning around aysten suddenly grunted in pain as his mind felt as if it was on fire... then from his throat nandons voice shouted out "JEIRDA!" And with that the soldiers legs splintered and he fell to the ground as aysten passed out from the force of the magic. The horse aysten was on looked forward at the horse breton was on stopping for a moment before galloping off after them with aysten slumped over in the saddle

It was around the area of several smaller villages that Brenton realized that the mare was following him but Aysten hadn't spoken. So, the Prince turned and saw his human companion completely passed out and almost fallen off of his mount. Brenton stopped and told the horse to stop. When they stopped fully, Brenton pulled Aysten down and layed him down on the ground. Jierda Slytha Adurna Suddenly a fountain of water spurted out of the earth and sprayed Aysten for a full 30 seconds before Brenton cut the flow of magic and crouched down next to the human.

Aysten spluttered awake about 15dras seconds into the water spraying and opened his mouth in protest only to catch the other 15 seconds worth of water in his mouth... choking as the stream stopped aysten coughed up a bit of water then tried to stand only to have his legs give out on him and then a huge migrain take over. "Ohhh the pain..."aysten said quietly wondering what happened for a brief moment and then remembering the moments before he passed out. "Whats jeirda mean?"aysten aysten asked slowly.

Brenton smiled as he remembered that this was a human he was dealing with, one who could use magic, but a human all the same. He took a few breaths and then replied with a demonstration. Brenton pointed to a small tree and spoke in the Ancient Language. Jierda! The tree shattered along the thickest branch and then burst to pieces. He turned to Aysten and spoke again, this time in English. Jierda means break and or shatter. With how I used it, the word was used to shatter the tree's branch. It is also a word known only to those who use magic. I suggest you don't use any more words in that language for it is a complicated set of rules in magic. Just know that if you try to do something with magic that you can't do in a normal manner then it will kill you. You can only do things that you have the strength for, and it will be devastating if Nandon tried for naught. With that, Brenton uttered the words to heal the tree and watched as the branch bits reformed and were put to the trunk. He had to stop because all of the magic was making him sick though and he needed to rest after that feat of magic.

Aysten frowned as he watched bretons demonstration the listened to what he had to say... when he mentioned nandon aysten finally spoke. "Well thats the thing... i didnt cast the spell... i think nandon did...when we where fleeing a guard came up behind me and almost killed me... but then my head felt like it was on fire... and then from my throat nandons voice came and he shouted the word... using me like a mouth peice or something..."aysten said wondering what all this meant...

Brenton frowned slightly as he heard what Aysten said and then he thought of how Galbatorix had taken control of Murtagh to fight others. Could it have been like that but with Nandon helping the human. Brenton decided to wait awhile and do some tests with the potential aiding Aysten. Finally, the elf Prince spoke to Aysten. If this is true, then I need to speak to you for a minute. Brenton cast his mind toward Aysten's and looked to see if there was a wall of protection similar to Nandon's

As breton cast out his mind towards aystens there was a slight barrier... and then it gave and a memory suddenly came forth. In it nandon sat on the edge of a building in dras leona... his head turned as if nandon could see breton there. Slowly he spoke. "Hello whoever you may be... im assuming your breton based on the fact i saw you fleeing with aysten... anyways... i planted this memory in aystens mind so that i could speak with you... what aysten may have told you is no lie... and dont expect me to help often... that damn shade has made me a mind slave... and i will undoubtably be punished for this... but look after aysten... and those daggers arent replicas... they are the real ones..." nandon said standing up in the memory before it faded away leaving aystens normal memories there.

Brenton gasped as he resurfaced in his own mind without hearing the voice of Nandon. The very fact that he had been able to do that made it strange but he then remembered hearing the words that Nandon was a mind slave. He filed that away and then looked at Aysten. I think we need to get to Ellesmera right away. There is a lot that I must teach you now that we have met. With that being said, Brenton remounted the horse that had followed him and Aysten during the escape. He wasn't certain but there was a strange feeling building in his gut that told him things were sure to be bad. Yet the elf Prince swore he would take care of Aysten. He owed Nandon for vouching for him when they beat Uruale and now he would keep the human safe for the time being.

Brenton shook his head to rid his mind of all the confusion and then remembered the words he had needed to say to Aysten before. Do you remember what you felt as the magic was cast and you were saved from death?

Aysten frowned a bit to himself and then spoke again. "Well... before the magic was cast i felt like my head was on fire... then after i felt exhausted... i cant recall how i felt during..."
