I went and say the Eragon movie today (Opened today). I liked it, but it was preatty much ruined in the first few mintues. It also needed to be more like the book, it missed some major details. (Sorry if this ruins it for anyone/everyone) For example, when Eragon kills Durza (The Shade), the "heart" of the mountian place (Forgot it already! XP) was supposed to be shattered. In the movie, it was not. A good point that I need to make is this: They made a good chioce for Brom, Arya, an OK choice for Eragon, did GREAT on Saphira, but they could have used a different person for Roran. Im not an emotional guy, but when Brom died and baried, I was suppressing tears. In the begginning, they did a good job with showing the intro, the Urgals hidden in the trees and bushes, killing the two Elf guards, but as I recall, Durza torched a large area of the forest, not just a small part. Well, Ill stop there, dont wanna ruin it completly! So, over all, I give Eragon a thumbs up (Im not a critique, but I love books)

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. At the end I was like, what the hell? Is that it? But it was good overall. Though I was fairly confused by Arya's lack of elflike qualities. Like watching Brom die and saying, "You aren't strong enough. Sure I could summon the essence of something, the hardest spell to do, but I am going to watch him die and not lift a finger." Plus the fact that she had round ears! That is like the simplest detail that a five year old could point out! Elves have pointed ears! But I liked the movie. Murtagh is tight.

lol well, since im reading Eragon again, I remembered that even the book ended a bit soon, right after the Urgals died, or something like that.
Yeah, there were allot of mistakes, and yea, Murtagh was preatty cool looking. I dont think that they could have picked some one better. And this is coming from someone who knows who Murtagh is, what he does, and where his loyalties stand, and doesnt like him.

Well yeah it did end fast, but they left out his contact with the elf while he was high/dazed from being slashed on the back. Oh and they left out Saphira getting drunk!

Where was the Twins? WHat happend to Orik? Wasn't Arya supposed to be unconcious when they saved her? Didn't Eragon and Saphira spend one night in the Spine? Wasn't Eragon supposed to know about Murtagh's past BEFORE they went into the Varden. Why didn't they even sho wthe Isidar Mithrim? I though Angela was supposed to be in a village where Brom's old friend was? Why did Brom die at the hands of Durza, he was supposed to be murdered when they were captured? Brom was supposed to teach Eragon a fair amount of magic and sword fighting BEFORE he died?! Where was Solembum? What happened to the blessing of Elva? Where was the Togiro Ikonoka? Oromis? What happened to the Du Vrangr Gata? Arya was supposed to have black hair, not blonde?
And WHY IS SAPHIRA'S WINGS FEATHER-LIKE?!
Ok. Enough rambling. I think that should prove how enraged I am with the movie. Nuff said.

I think you have summarized most of the bad things in the movie. The Urgals were weak. If I remember right Brom said they were summoned by Durza or something. Not to mention they looked nothing like a Urgal. Just men who are dirty. XP Not a single dwarf was seen! I can also say they didn't show a Elf. If Arya was a elf then shoot me. She can send the egg to Eragon but can't heal Brom?!

Exactly ! She can summon the seence of silver, but can't heal Brom? Dwarf are supposed to be small. If the long haired guy showed standing next to Ajihad was Hrothgar, then I'm an elf! He's almost as tall as Eragon! Arya was supposed to have black hair, no? Why is she a blonde then? They didn't who Joed and Teirm, so I have wondered how in the world is Roran supposed to find out that Eragon is a Dragon Rider beforeheand? Cos I'm quuite sure if he finds out at the battle of the Burning Plains, he's gona faint from sheer shock.

She can't heal Brom because she was poisoned by a Shade. I think that's excuse enough.
But yeah. The movie had it's problems. Some of the cuts I understand, but others I don't. Because then you're missing major plot points. How are they going to make Eldest? o__O

Roran looked so much like Eragon. Freaking Arya was supposed to be in a coma for like, half the movie. But, noooo. That part was annoying. I thought the death of Brom was quite sad, much more so than in the book. I kinda felt my eyes get misty, but then again, the air conditioning was on full blast... <_<;; I just have to say it... What in the freaking hell happened to Durza's beautiful face towards the end of the movie? His teeth were black! He had scars on his lips! Whoa!! I was taken aback, but I got used to it and actually kinda liked it. I just wish his teeth were filled to points and his eyes were red... ah, well.

Well lets go over what was wrong with the movie..........EVERYTHING. Except for the names. Because they just combined scenes put events in wrong places and did whatever they wanted!
And why did they screw up Tronjiem so much? Where was that giant diamond? Wasn't saphira supposed to smash through it as Eragon was fighting Durza? THAT FIGHT! That wasn't even close to the real thing. And they just sent Roran away? where was Katrina?? And what was up with the giant dwarves. They were like 6 foot.
And why did Saphira grow in one scene? flying in the clouds?
The only thing I liked about the movie was Brom's character. But in the book it said he had a beard to his chest?!
I could go on and on.
Where was Solembum? and where was Tierm?? and Joed? and the urgals looked like people? Where were their horns?
OK I'm done for now. but i could list many many more things....
grrrr XO

I know the combined it with Daret. Btw I thought it was horrible they way they unfolded everything. I though Cp should have singed off the screen play before they made the movie. But no he gave them full rights.

I was so disappointed in the whole thing. I could rant for hours, and it would be better than the movie.
I wish the battle with Durza could have been better.

Yeah. I say that a bunch of us should re-do Eragon. Even though most of us are young, and dont have allot of money, it would STILL be better.
I CALL SPECIAL EFFECTS!

*dashes over to read it*
Yes, the mind-raping! D: Stupid rated PG movie... WHYYY. And the lack of blood. Freaking lame. I was surprised with all that was cut out and mangled, it managed to span an hour and fifty five minutes.

Paolini probably should have put in the contract that he has to be consulted before major changes were made in the story or characters, or just did like a lot of writers do nowadays and just opted to be Executive or Associate Producer. But it's ALOT of work, and I don't know if he has time or he may just be lazy. Anyways, he just signed over full rights and collecte dhis hefty check. J.K. Rowling did that at first, but wised up after "Philosopher's Stone" turned out the way it did. Now she has to be consulted before they really change anything. If and when my novel gets published and if it gets made into a movie, I want to be Executive Producer. Or Associate. I should go see Eragon...maybe tomorrow...

@vavrinec - the lack of blood and violence was demeaning. YAY VIOLENCE! Fadriendel Augcastil - maybe you shouldn't waste you money. :/ in my opinion, the movie is only worth seeing for 1) the special effects and graphics on saphira, 2) murtagh for murtagh fans, and 3) durza's overly glittery, rainbow sparkly costume.

If they make Eldest... it sure as hell better not freaking be PG again!!! D:< Thats so lame!! I want violence! Blood! Who cares if 10 year olds get scared? Thats what the parental supervision is for!
