Vlaer and Belgabad had been waiting anxiously for the son of Galbatorix in the deep forest near the Black Gates. They soon heard some Empire soldiers pass by. Vlaer saw a scout see them and so had to kill them. Taking out his own bow he notched an arrow and fired before doing this again 20 times in rapid succession. When he was done he retrieved his arrow before they heard the sound of a horse. They looked to see the son of Galbatorix and entered his mind briefly to check of his identity. Vlaer said, "Hail son of Galbatorix, how goes your day?"

[Rerukusu wouldn't leave his mind open for them to know about the Raz'ac egg. That's powerplaying my character. Sensing another mind is fine but taking information is powerplay.] The hoof beats soon drew louder as the horse came closer. Rerukusu rode on a black horse with a long but shaggy main, and Andalusian horse. The son of Galbatorix had donned a cape to keep the chill of the wind off of him as he rode. The cloak was marked with the symbol of the Empire. He was aware of Vlaer's mind finding him but he kept his mind shielded. Vlaer began to speak as he dismounted his horse. The horse refused to go close to the dragon, so Rerukusu tied him to a tree and walked closer. He seemed to have eyes only for Belgabad and didn't hear Vlaer at all. Without asking he approached the dragon and bowed respectfully before attempting to place a hand on the dragon's large scaly leg. "You are most magnificent, master of the skies," he said aloud not wanting to open his mind to speak nor be disrespectful by contacting him unwanted.

((Sorry, modified that.))
Belgabad had looked at Rerukusu and toyed with making him a small breakfast. He quickly discarded the thought and allowed the mind to touch his black scaly leg before replying briefly in Rerukusu's mind, "I thank you for the praise Rerukusu, however please greet my Rider as well, for to me his safety and happiness is more important than the world." smiling grimly Vlaer said, "No need for such formalitys, Rerukusu I am here to help you change your true name, to destroy your oaths to Galbatorix...but first we require a suitable amount of energy for your dragon, lest she dies..were you able to find any eggs? I won't tell none if you told me." Said Vlaer in the binding Ancient Language

[thanks] Rerukusu stepped away from Belgabad soon after the dragon and spoke to him, and per the dragon's request turned his attention to Vlaer. He performed the elven greeting but did not say the words to accompany the gestures. The son of Galbatorix smiled knowingly as Vlaer spoke. "I appreciate your help but changing my true name is not necessary, for I have sworn no oaths to my father. I serve him loyalty and of my own free will yet I am free to do as I choose," he said. He was probably one of very few whom Galbatorix had not required to swear oaths, he suspected it might have had something to do with the fact that he was his son. He drew the magnificent purple blade out of it's sheath. He held it point down towards the ground, so the gem was almost at eye level. "No, I was not able to find any dragon eggs. According to the Empire records the Raz'ac once transported a dragon egg. I don't know what happened to it but it's not at Helgrind." he said. He wasn't about to tell Vlaer about the Razac egg he had found.

Troubled, Vlaer said thoughtfuply, "If only we could find a Raz'ac egg...it should be enough." Belgabad had decided that he much rather have a small lunch an so began chasing a flock of twenty elks.
Vlaer said, "Do not lie to me. Did you find an intact egg?" he then continued, "It could help us restore your drqgon.

Rerukusu shook his head. "A Raz'ac egg won't work even if there was one to be found. It must be a dragon's egg or it can be an already grown dragon and even then it must be one that matches her resonance," he explained avoiding the question. "I've tried the green dragon egg my father has but he was not compatible with my dragon's resonance."
"To keep her alive I often journey and take the energy from anything living around me, grass, trees, animals, everything. It's never enough though," he said.

Vlaer wept with compassion when Rerukusu finished and so, plunging into his enormous amount of energy, and Belgabad's, and Belgabad II's Eldunari he poured as much energy from all three of them into the dragon's soul knowing that the huge amount of energy SHOULD be enough to sustain the dragon long enough to speak for at least a few minutes.
Slumped, Vlaer was exhausted and said, "I...I have seen an egg that was purple and I believe would be compatible with your dragon. We shall lead you there." without asking for permission Vlaer slung the man on his shoulder, climbed onto the saddle and Belgabad took off in pursuit of the egg to help the Dragon-less Rider.

"Thank you," Rerukusu said as Vlaer and Belgabad once again gave his dragon energy. The gem seemed to glow slightly at the massive amount of energy. "Really?" he said in disbelief. "I did not think any more eggs survived aside from the one my father has," he said. He wasn't happy about Vlaer slinging him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes but he didn't have much time to protest before he was set down on the back of Belgabad. "Er, thanks but I can get up here myself."
Before they had gone far the gem where the dragon's soul resided flashed brilliantly and a ghost illusion of a purple dragon flew next to Belgabad. The purple dragon was perhaps one of the prettiest dragons one had ever seen. Her movements were smooth and her scales unlike other dragons were not rough. "Avendel!" Rerukusu cried out. "Be free, be happy Rerukusu, even if the two of us are no longer near each other. Don't let your saddness destroy you," she said then she looked at him and smiled sadly before vanishing. It took a great deal of energy for Avendel to appear physically and she could only speak when she appeared that way.

Seeing Avendel tht way and Rerukusu so glad made them much he more determined. They flew heavily until hey reached the turret they had made to protect the egg.
Disarming the traps they ntered to be admitted by a tall room that seemed plain however contained many traps. Walking ove to th egg qnd returning with it Vlaer asked, "Well? How is it?"

Rerukusu's heart raced in anticipation. When Belgabad landed he climbed down and followed Vlaer. He wondered how the pair had found a dragon egg and even moreso why they were giving it to him. He eyed the egg longingly but did not take it from Vlaer, not unless it was offered. "I don't know, I have to use a spell to find out if this egg with match her resonance," he said.

Vlaer nodded and said, "Me and Belgabad would be glad to offer you the energy needed." He then put the egg into Rerukusu's arms before he and Belgabad sent him each a well amount of energy.

"Thank you both," Rerukusu said his voice quiet as he was rather overwhelmed. He was trembling slightly from excitement and hope as he accepted the egg from Vlaer. He ran a hand over the smooth outer shell of the egg. He walked away from the rider and dragon so he would have more room. He let go of the egg in mid air and it stayed there floating where he'd left it. Rerukusu closed his eyes and began muttering a very complex spell, some words were new having been forgotten by most. One benefit of his father being Galbatorix is he learned words in the ancient language that had been forgotten.
The air seemed thick with the magic as a ring of light and runes appeared under Rerukusu. The ring was golden in hue but something about it seemed wrongly unnatural. Extending a hand toward the egg caused the egg to begin to glow. At the same time the gem on his sword glowed matching the egg perfectly. Rerukusu smiled joyously then shouted, "Jeirda!" All the magic energy in the room seemed to focus on the egg and a resounding crack split the silence as the purple egg cracked. Golden light poured out as new cracks formed. Rerukusu was breaking the egg without the hatching choosing him.
He reached out and touched the baby purple dragon with the palm of his hand and visibly winced as he made contact. The cold painful shot through his arm as the dragon bound with him, it was more painful than he remembered, probably because he'd forced the dragon to choose him. Rerukusu slipped down to his knees breathing heavily as the purple hatching edged away from him.

As they saw what happened Vlaer and Belgabad decided that they had done good for now. Walking out they said., "Send our regards to your dragon Rerukusu." ((Guess this thread is done. We should make another for you and the hqtchling.))
