Not-So-Brief History:
Ozig's story begins far before his birth. His father, a well known Surdan trader, sought to bring prosperity to his family by moving them to the Beor Mountains to trade with desert nomads and the dwarves. He settled down on The banks of the Az Ragni river and began his trade operation from his newly constructed cottage deep in the Beor Mountains. At first, he had some trouble trading with the dwarven clans, but eventually he gained their trust. To keep the trade going, Ozig's father had to keep traveling into the hadarac to trade with nomads or back to surda to get more supply. During this time of Haldred's fledgeling business, Ozig and His four brothers were born in rapid succession, Ozig being the oldest. When Ozig was 14, his mother was killed by a bear when she got drunk and wondered off into the woods. Ozig and his brothers, already skilled children of the bush by this time, hunted down the bear and slaughtered it, first shooting it with arrows and then Ozig finishing it off with a blow from a tree limb, which he later fashioned into a club. Shortly after that ordeal, Ozig's father did not come back as scheduled. A few months passed and Haldred still did not return from his business trips. Ozig asked the dwarf clans of his whereabouts, and they said they hadnt seen him n months either. It was concluded that Haldred was not coming back and so at the age of fifteen Ozig took up the task of raising his brothers by himself to become very skilled outdoorsmen and fighters, always sparring and wrestling eachother, and challenging dwarves to duels to better themselves.
At age 17, Ozig finally decided to explore life outside the Beors and ventured out of his valley into the hadarac desert alone, telling his brothers that he would be back in a few days. Soon enough, however, Ozig got lost after straying from the Az Ragni river. After days without food or water and being to the point of near death, Ozig was saved by a nomad tribe. The dark-skinned woman who cared for him would eventually become his wife. Eventually, When the two lovers returned to the Beorborn cabin, Ozig's brothers were gone. He soon learned from the dwarves that his brothers had gone to join the Varden in Farthen Dur, fearing that Ozig would, like their father, fail to return home.
Ozig begged his brother's forgiveness, and he acheived it. Alas, the young men decided that they wanted to join the Varden as soldiers and experience the world outside their little modest living in the Beors. Ozig accepted their wish and allowed all four of his brothers to slip from his grasp and join the Varden, to train as children to one day become fine warriors. Ozig and Norla lived the next twenty years in relative peace and seclusion from the world, only ever interacting with the dwarves and occasionally visiting his brothers in the Varden. Norla gave birth to three mulatto- colored sons during their time at the Beorborn homestead. An elder, Rikard, and twins Simpsov and Jorix. Ozig trained his sons just as he had trained himself and his brothers, to be expert masters of the wild and hardy, stout family-valued men. Simpsov and Rikard married women of Norla's tribe, and Simpsov had a son very early, only at age 18. The next big event after Simpsov's son's birth would change Ozig's life forever.
Ozig was hunting with his sons one morning, and Norla and the two other wives remained at the house with Simpsov's son. The men returned toting a fat boar, but to the scent of fire and the sound of Urgal grunts. They had never seen Urgals before, but were completely shocked to find their home burning down and urgals plundering the entire property. The four men sprinted to the house and murdered the small party of Urgals in a blind fury. They found their wives slaughtered. The corpse of Simpsov's wife was stretched across a wooden chest. Inside the chest was his terrified little son. When the toddler saw the carnage, he cried so hard that he vomitted. Shortly after, a company of Varden horsemen led by Ozig's brother Mabryn arrived, but they were too late. Mabryn expressed his condolences, and encouraged the ever-secluded and neutral Ozig to join the fight against the Empire before the Urgals began their assault on Farthen Dur. With no wives and no home, the Beorborn men left the Az Ragni cottage ruin to join the Varden, the faction for which two of his brothers had already died in battle.
They refused any weapons or armor the varden offered them. Simpsov entered the Battle of Farthen Dur stark naked, covered in warpaint, wielding no weapons, just taking weapons as he went along, murdering men and urgals alike with his bare hands. The Beorborns, Ozig and his three young sons fought with such rage that they could not be killed. It was later said that Ozig himself clubbed down fifty urgals and four kull by himself in the battle, all in the spirit of revenge. The four men were in a complete bloodrage, nothing could stop them. Their ferocity was instantly recognized by the Varden higher-ups, and they decided to put Ozig, his sons, and a few others into an special unit of berserkers to be known as Du Beorngar or The Bear People.
Du Beorngar continued to gain prestige over the course of the Varden's battles. Almost miraculously, Ozig's family survived every major battle at the front lines without suffering any life threatening injuries. Simpsov lost a hand At the Burning Plains, but a member of Du Vrangr Gata re attatched it shortly after. Ozig and Du Beorngar continue to fight for the Varden, and they will not rest until the world is rid of the Empire, and things are safe for their family. Shortly after the Burning Plains, Rikard re-married a Surdan woman and they had a daughter. More grandchildren, only more reason for Ozig to continue to allow the Varden to use him on the front lines.
