Rain pounded on the windows of the large building as an occasional clap of thunder drowned out voices followed by a flash of lightening that would light up the room ominously. Murtagh stood leaning over a table looking at a map and some paper work. this building was more or less the castle of Dras-Leona, if you could call it a castle. Like the rest of the town it was rather dismal and looked as though little care had been put into erecting it.
The room was not big enough for dragon's to enter, well none by the smallest ones. As such Thorn remained outside in the rain, in the courtyard. The roof was a dangerous place to be during a storm like this.
A messenger boy entered, the door slamming behind him. Murtagh looked up and the boy seemed to shrink under his gaze. "I..I delivered the messages," he said. Murtagh nodded. "Good, now go, I'll call you if I need you," he said. The boy hurried off down a corridor. The messages that had been sent out were to the other Empire riders as well as the important Generals and Captains who would need to be in on the planning.
Galbatorix's army had been gathering in Dras'Leona for the past week. Murtagh was sure the Varden would have noticed by now. Rumors from spies suggested the Varden might attack, if they did not though the Empire would attempt to retake Belatona.

Uruale walked down a poorly lit corridor, in his right hand was the parchment that held the assembling message on its surface. A young boy came out the room at the end of the corridor, a bit of fear in his eyes as he rushed pass him and down its length. Lately it would seem that his entire view on the world had been flipped upside down. He was really beginning to resent his role in the war of the Dragon Riders. His freedom was never suppose to be worth the power in a few words.
He reached the door and twisting it knob, pushed it open. Looking up he saw that Murtagh was waiting in the room. He knew, just as well as anyone that Galbatorix's move to implement conflict against the Varden now was just plain ruthless. They were attacking weary soldiers, that would be less than helpless kills after their more recent battle.
Uruale spoke nothing to Murtagh before finding a seat off to the side. He folded his arms and closed his eyes in meditation, knowing that sooner or later Flare would contact him with some irrelevant matter. Recently, he's been feeling a little confused on Murtagh as well. The hatred that had burn so furiously inside him before was now calm and dim. It didn't ache to take his position any more and brought confusion to his mind... just like Freyja had before. He opened his eyes and lifted his gaze towards the window. " How are you today, Murtagh ? " he asked calmly.

Ragdar rubbed his temples as he listened to the rain hitting into the castle. It sounded like even heavier than it should. He went outside, wondering where Lenora was. As he continued looking, the rain continued to soak his clothes. A pair of soldiers hurried passed him, saying something like, "Talk about the devil.". He frowned. What was going on?!
Lenora opened her crimson eyes, she was still flying near Ragdar causing the rain to be even heavier as she flapped against it. She continued to do so until Ragdar sighed and tilted his head back, looking at the sky. As he looked he found Lenora and anger seemed to seethe from his red eyes."I found you Lenora, now can we go inside? I need to wash up and change." She agreed and swooped down to grab him and put him in the saddle.
Heavy warm water came down, pouring on him. It felt great. As he got into some leggings, he searched for his chain mail. He continued searching, the cold on his bear chest until a knock came at the door. He immediately unsheathed Arucane and opened the door to admit a frightened looking page. He handed him a parchment and continued on his way, but Ragdar called him back."Where is my chain mail?" he asked the page, his voice impatient and stern. The boy hurried somewhere and came back holding it. He thanked the boy and dismissed him as he read the parchment. Some meeting council? Pah, the Riders would end up killing one another. He went to a corrider where he passed through and entered the waiting room. He found Uruale and Murtagh already there, waiting. He walked inside and took a seat, like Uruale to a side. Though he disliked him, after the fight with the Fanghur he felt like as if they had a small bond of friendship. "What is it today gentlemen?" he asked, waiting for Lenora to come.

Murtagh watched Uruale for a moment when the other rider entered. In the past there had been quite a rivalry between them. He wasn't sure what had changed but it seemed that was no longer true. but that didn't mean he would let his guard down. No, he never let his guard down, when your life was constantly threatened from birth letting down your guard wasn't an option.
"I'm fine thanks," Murtagh answered Uruale's query rather vaguely. He usually was not very open with others aside from Thorn. Uruale may not hold a rivalry against him now but Murtagh's trust was not easily won.
He leaned against the table he was by and folded his arms as Ragdar entered the room. "I'm sure the Varden have noticed our movements, I'm not sure yet where our battle will take place. I'd prefer it take place at Belatona than here. We must be prepared for either possibility. Galbatorix's orders are simple, we must not loose Dras Leona to the Varden and if possible do them as much damage as we can," he said.
"Each of you will be in charge of a portion of the Empire's forces, you will of course answer to me," Murtagh added. "We will be flanking the Varden on all sides." He waved a hand to have the two riders get up and join him at the table. There were maps on it as well as reports Murtagh had been sorting through. There were two map showing the two possible battle fields and the empire's strategy.

Ragdar took a moment to study Murtagh as he replied to Uruale, his eyes off Ragdar for a few seconds. None of his torture under Galbatorix was still shown, nor the fact that his lungs were filled with smoke from escaping Vlaer and the other Riders. "I am glad you are better now Murtagh. I honestly wish to harbor no grudge between all of us. That could be our downfall. We must work together and earn each other's trust. Bend your pride enough, same as I have right now." he said, his voice stern, the words leaving his mouth like a hammer beating on his pride.
As he heard that the Varden knew of their movement, Ragdar was not surprised. They suspected just as much and cared not. Every Empire Rider could easily be counted for around three Varden Riders. They knew more about Magic thanks to his 'father' and each usually had an Eldunari. Other than that, the dragons were much larger, and have been practiced in hard situations. He stared out the window and was surprised to see a large mass of crimson. Lenora was right outside in the rain. In the meantime, Murtagh had given them their orders. Though Ragdar preferred to only take orders from his 'father', he would work under Murtagh and work together lest his pride be their doom.
"You heard it all, correct?" he asked Lenora."Well, it was either listen through you or have to wait until you told me." she replied, voice soft and gentle. He shook his head and stood up to next to Murtagh. He watched the maps, and as he was doing so, another pair of eyes looked through his. Lenora was watching through him and listening through him. "Right flank..." he muttered, "Let me lead the right flank, Uruale the left, fight off whatever is sent to us while not moving other than that, Murtagh takes the middle, have the troops flee then as the Varden near me and Uruale, we box them in." his voice rather strategic, though as always, stern.

A unnoticed smirk appeared on Uruale's face as Murtagh answered. The Empire's champion's voice was vague with indifference but Uruale had not mind. He knew what it was like to not trust anyone, mostly because a part of him still had not trusted anyone but Flare. Besides her no one else had really earned it.
Uruale listened to Murtagh's debriefing, he had always been very studious when it came to the battle plans of wars. That was one of the reasons he had been considered a prodigy even among the Empire's Riders, being only weaker than Murtagh and Galbatorix themselves; and he blamed that on the numerous Eldunari they both had willed.
Uruale stood up from the chair and walked over around the same time as Ragdar, finding himself completing a triangle of sorts. His storm gray eyes studied the map for a moment before his brows scrunched up. After Ragdar was finished speaking he pointed at the Varden's encampment on the map, his finger being placed on their supposed'd strong-hold. " Don't repeat me on this, " he said steely, his voice cool as his jaw tensed lightly. " But Its rumored that a massive dragon is stationed here. One far larger than any dragon we have with us. If this is true... Then him and his Rider will be a problem. " he told them, his chestnut brown hair laying over his brows in a stylish, yet unruly way.

Ragdar sneered as Uruale spoke about a large dragon. He did not care, for to him anything in his way or in the Empire's way was a broken stepping stone. Smash it to rebuild it. But if this dragon was larger than all their dragons and maybe even Shruikan... He shivered to think about it. He and Lenora had trained with Galbatorix and Shruikan. The sheer size of Shruikan was huge. If another dragon same size or larger than Shruikan was against them.. then they would have to hope for the best.
He frowned as he began thinking of a tactic to remove this dragon...maybe if a few of them..two at max could lure the dragon away? That would leave the rest of the Varden's Riders open to be destroyed then they could all fix on the massive dragon and his Rider. "What if me and Uruale distract this large dragon and his Rider while Murtagh destroys the other Riders. Then after Murtagh is finished, we could all attack the other Rider and crush them. Crush them the same way we always do." he said, stern voice cold and steady.
