Roleplaying can be a lot of fun if you try and do it the right way. Try to make each post help the story, and trying to make sure that is looks and sounds good at the same time. Here are a few tips that should help you out.
Context
- Context is a very important thing when it comes to roleplaying on a forum like this. Even if it is your character, it doesn't make it based on you. That means, if you see someone you won't just know their name. You must find it out, by asking or anything like that.
- The last thing is that if you walk into a tavern say, you wont instantly know what's going on. Your character has to learn, as well as you.
Replying
- If you are roleplaying with someone, try and keep up with it. Refresh the page every few minutes to see if they have posted, then reply. But make sure not to spam up the board, replying before the other person has even had a chance to.
OOC Chat in RP
- When your roleplaying, please try and keep the OOC to a minimum. But if you do, put some sort of thing showing that it isn't part of the game. Like brackets, (( or something of the sort.
- If your in an RP area, don't just go there for OOC. That's what the General board is for.
- Try to keep the OOC chatting to a minimum.
Interesting and Building Posts
- When your roleplaying, try and make your posts interesting and build onto the RP.
- Make your posts detailed, make the other person interested. We don't want them falling asleep.
- Maybe describe your feelings, or your character examining his surroundings. Describe everything in detail, it will make it much more interesting.
- Don't just post meaningless posts, make sure they mean something.
God-modding
- DO NOT AT ANY TIME GOD-MOD! God-modding is a way of making your character invincible, just by not letting them ever get hit.
Third Person View
- When your roleplaying try and do it in a third person view. This means that you describe your actions with, 'he' or 'she' instead of 'I'. This makes it easier for some to understand. But if you really wish to do it in first person view, go right ahead.
Punctuation
- When your roleplaying, please try to use proper punctuation. This means using periods and such in the appropriate place.
- Don't do one long continued sentence for a post. Split it up just like you were reading a book. In a book it's even split up into paragraphs, if possible with long posts try to put it in paragraphs.
