Farid bowed. He smiled a boyish grin, looking at Cirtolthiel. "Don't do anything fun without me."He said turning to the rider. He ran his hand through his hair agian, this time to smooth it out before going confront the Council. "Will you be accompanying me in ther Cirtolthiel or do I have to face them alone?" He looked to her then back to the door. He looked into her eyes with a hopeful smile. He examined the way her eyes sparkled when the sun hit them as he waited for her to awnser. He quickly added. "I'm sure they will be please with the fact you brought the Varden someone as charming as myself." He smirked. "Oh yeah. And the Rider." He smirked , trying to get a laugh out of the two of them.

"Will you be accompanying me in there Cirtolthiel or do I have to face them alone?"
Cirtolthiel thought for a moment."We should all go in at the same time," she decided. Her eyes fell upon the dragon. "I don't know if you'll fit in there, Sonya." Cirtolthiel tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Well, we'll see. Wait out here then, I suppose." She turned to Farid and Vedrit.
"I'm sure they will be please with the fact you brought the Varden someone as charming as myself. Oh yeah. And the Rider." Cirtolthiel laughed a little at Farid's joke.
"As for you two, come with me." Cirtolthiel walked in the doorway and faced the Council. She bowed.
"Cirtolthiel? Back so soon?"
Cirtolthiel looked up and smiled. "Ah well...sooner than I expected. I found some people that would be pleased to join us." She moved to the side.
((OOC: okay, as far as what the Varden does, that's up to you guys.))

((Shouldnt we have some council members here? Or should we go to them?)) Vedrit followed Cirtolthiels example and bowed to the council. "I have been in search of the Varden for nearly a year. I heard that the Vardens cause is the same as mine." Vedrit told the council, then stood behind Cirtolthiel and waited for Farid and the council to say something. Vedrit took that time to examine the council members to see if he could learn anything about what they were thinking and how they would react.

"As for you two, come with me."
Farid jerked his head back up, where as before he was looking at his feet. He followed her into the grand building. The Council sat on high platforms, making the room look like a vally more than anything. He bowed down as low as he could then popped back up. "I too have ben in search of you for quite some time. I can not help you with archery but I will promise you that many will fall under the power of my sword." He nodded as the Council members scrutinized him under their powerful glares. He riminded himself over and over in his head not to flinch as they examined him. There would be no room for weakness.
After a few moments one of the members stood up. "Would you be willing to swear your fealty to us and the Varden. And to come when we call, if ever the need for battle approaches?" Said the member.
Farid looked the man in his eye with such a feirce gaze that he flinched. "On my honor and the honor of my mother and father, I swear." He said in the ancient language.

((OOC: Yeah, Vedrit, just assume that Council members are present))
"I too have been in search of you for quite some time. I cannot help you with archery but I will promise you that many will fall under the power of my sword."
A swordsman, Cirtolthiel observed. It didn't matter about the archery; the Varden had plenty of archers for that. Including herself.
Cirtolthiel resumed her usual post by the doorside. She watched and listened to Farid swearing his loyalty. It was something she listened to everyday, or everytime she was in this building. Attentive, she folded her hands and leaned against the wall.
"On my honor and the honor of my mother and father, I swear," Farid pledged.
Cirtolthiel nodded in approval. It's unique, but very promising, she thought. Not everyone "swore" on the same thing. Cirtolthiel remembered that she had sworn on her mother's grave. Her breath quickened for a moment, remembering her mother's death. No. Don't go there, she forced herself to think elsewhere. But instead, her attention drew back to Farid and the Council.

The council member looked to Vedrit, satisfied with Farids oath of fealty. "And do you swear fealty to us, and the Varden, to come when we call, should battle arise?" Vedrit thought for a moment about what he would swear on, or if he really should. It was decided. "I swear upon my life, my brothers, and my dragon." He said confidantly. Its all he could think of, and all he had, aside from his sword and bow, but they had little value, monitary or otherwise.

Cirtolthiel watched Vedrit step forward. She assumed that the Varden had accepted Farid. The Council turned their ever-piercing gaze to the lone Rider.
"I swear upon my life, my brothers, and my dragon." Vedrit said firmly. Cirtolthiel nodded again, and waited for the Varden to begin their search.
She blinked, remembering something. Shouldn't he be pledging himself in the ancient language? she thought. Cirtolthiel's eyes flicked to the Head Council member, wondering if he was going to require this. But Cirtolthiel did not interrupt; doing such a thing would surely have her looked down upon.
And Sonya! What about her? Cirtolthiel thought. She opened her mouth, but closed it when realized that the Varden would never forget the dragon. Don't get too excited, now...

"That's not very smart, Councilman, trusting a Rider to keep an oath to you without the proper bindings of the ancient language." Arkantos remarked, casting his shadow over them, his spear gleaming in the sunlight as he leaned over a windowsill, grinning a feral smile.
"After all, how do you know that this Rider isn't a sleeper agent for the Empire? All it takes is one meeting with a Shade, one touch of her blades, and he'll be tainted with it's dark essense forever." He continued, emphasizing the Her, "Isn't that right, Vedrit? Have you met any Shades? I only survived my encounter by changing my alliegience. What dark promises did you make, Rider?" His eyes were full of intrigue and amusement as he lept down on to the floor, slowing his fall with magic.

Vedrit didnt look. He knew the voice "I guess I was lucky that there was a rider who was bound against his wishes. I would have died that die." He said with out facing Arkantos, "And I have heard enough of this ancient language. It seems that every one but I know it." At this, ue turned to Arkantos. It was not a suprise that he could land long jumps. He had done it out of a window of an inn they were staying at. "And why are you here? I thought you were of the Empire. You were last we met. We had to have you guarded by a dragon." Vedrits patience had been running low. He wanted to be done with this, get out of the sun, and some where cool. The Spine was brought to mind.

Farid opened his mouth to instruct Verdit what to say. He was stopped short by the new arrival. His hand imediatly went to his elven sword. It's tinted green blade made a soft hum as he unsheathed it. He eyed both of the elven men. Apparently they were fermiliar with one another. There was talk of shades and alligance, making Farid even more suspicious of Verdit.Have we lead the fox into the chicken coop? He wondered as he eyed the new arrival. Heat rised to his face. His angry eyes darted back to Verdit. "Are two of the Empire? Must I gut you here and now." His voice was full of anger and vengance as he took a step closer to Verdit and Arkantos.
The Elders looked down on Farid with amsued faces. His anger would prove usefull in battle but now was not the right time. But his actions did pose a few questions.
One of the Elders cleared his throat. "Calm yourself boy."he said to Farid. "Do you have reason to be here?" He asked looking to Arkantos. Fear showed in his eyes, thinking Arkantos was a threat.
Farid ignored the Elder. His hand was still tightly wrapped around his sword. he did however take a step back.

"That's not very smart, Councilman, trusting a Rider to keep an oath to you without the proper bindings of the ancient language."
Cirtolthiel looked up at the unfamiliar voice, following a large shadow up to its caster. A man was up on the windowsill, and jumped down gracefully. Well, that was unexpected.
"After all, how do you know that this Rider isn't a sleeper agent for the Empire? All it takes is one meeting with a Shade, one touch of her blades, and he'll be tainted with it's dark essense forever." The man with the silver hair continued. Cirtolthiel's eyes widened. Was there something about Vedrit that they didn't know about? She stepped forward from leaning against the doorway and stood tall, perfecting her posture. The silver haired man continued, walking slowly.
"Isn't that right, Vedrit? Have you met any Shades? I only survived my encounter by changing my alliegience. What dark promises did you make, Rider?" He sounded amused. Cirtolthiel narrowed her eyes skeptically. What's going on here? she thought.
But Vedrit didn't even turn around. "I guess I was lucky that there was a rider who was bound against his wishes. I would have died that die. And I have heard enough of this ancient language. It seems that every one but I know it. And why are you here? I thought you were of the Empire. You were last we met. We had to have you guarded by a dragon."
Cirtolthiel lost it. "What?!" she demanded. "What's going on here?! These...secrets you two tell are not helping!" She clenched her fists and stood her ground. Some Council looked at her in surprise.
Farid was angry too. "Are two of the Empire? Must I gut you here and now?" He stepped toward them as well. He had unsheathed his sword. Cirtolthiel heart skipped a beat; there was NO way she was going to allow a fight here. She too walked over to the three of them, her face set in determination.
An Elder cleared his throat. "Calm yourself boy." He ten faced Arkantos. "Do you have a reason to be here?"
"Exactly what I was going to ask, sir," Cirtolthiel's voice was strained. She glanced at Vedrit, giving him an inquiring look.

Vedrit took a calming breath. "Arkantos, oh how your memory seems to fail you. Remember when you were bound with rope, laying on the floor with a blad at your throught? You spoke in the anceint language, and I didnt understand? I am sure that if a Shade had attacked me, or I was some agient of the Empire, Sonya would know, and told me, and I would never have come here." He turned to Cirtolthiel "Be calm. If there is anyone to distrust, it is Arkantos."

Arkantos laughed at the reaction of the group, his ring falling out of his shirt, hanging on by the necklace he had woven it to. "Of course I have a reason, Elder. I have come to reclaim my defunct position as Captain of the 3rd legion of the Varden forces, as I saw firsthand the falling of one of your generals at the hands of a thousand Kull on the eastern side of the Beors." Smiling, he bowed deeply at the elders, his ring pulsing slightly. Suddenly he turned towards Vedrit, his manner serious. "Ah, but you have met a Shade, Rider. You see, I met the same Shade not too long afterwards. Long white hair, pretty, knives coated with poison. You see, I had a... close relationship with that Shade, and she told me about you. She met you a while ago, in a desert or somewhere warm, where you met another Rider, or so I remember." So saying, he threw down his spear and layed down his sword, the silver inlay shining in the sunlight.

He turned to Cirtolthiel "Be calm. If there is anyone to distrust, it is Arkantos."
Cirtolthiel bit back an angry retort. But instead, she simply dropped her hand from her sword hilt. Brushing a stand of hair back, she directed her attention to Arkantos, who was now speaking to the Elder.
"Of course I have a reason, Elder. I have come to reclaim my defunct position as Captain of the 3rd legion of the Varden forces, as I saw firsthand the falling of one of your generals at the hands of a thousand Kull on the eastern side of the Beors." Arkantos seemed to be almost boasting to Cirtolthiel. She took this in to digest.
"So, are you to tell us," Cirtolthiel spoke up, "that there are several thousand Kull waiting for us just outside the Beors?" she asked in a deeply controlled voice. She looked to the others' faces for any sign of assurance. But they all were focused on Arkantos.
"Ah, but you have met a Shade, Rider. You see, I met the same Shade not too long afterwards. Long white hair, pretty, knives coated with poison. You see, I had a... close relationship with that Shade, and she told me about you. She met you a while ago, in a desert or somewhere warm, where you met another Rider, or so I remember."
Cirtolthiel shivered. That was not exactly pleasant. So we've got Kull, a gruesome Shade, and.... Cirtolthiel snapped her attention to his last words. Who was the other Rider? But before she could ponder this, her focus was shattered by Arkantos' spear and sword being hurled down to the floor. Cirtolthiel jumped slightly at the loud clang it emanated. A long, uncomfortable silence followed this.
She sighed, coming to a realization. "Elder?" she asked quietly, turning to him. She looked at him warily.
"Messenger?"
"May I be dismissed? I feel no need for my presence here. This is none of my business," she explained in the same, quiet tone. The Elder observed her weariness.
"I suppose. You may leave now."
"Thank you, Elder." She gave one last glance at the others around here, and bowed to the Elder.
Shutting the door behind her, she wondered if the others would even take notice that she left. Just a messenger girl, remember? she thought grimly. Well, I'm a free bird now. Might as well go somewhere. She looked over her shoulder at the Council door again. But before she even had taken more than three steps, she heard the door creak open again, and someone called, "Wait!"

"Wait!" Farid called after her. He left the Elders without their notice. He grinned at Cirtoltheil. "So what do we do now?" He asked her as he walked along side her. He let his hand find her's agian and grinned at her. "It appears I just sealed my fate. I need a drink. Care to join me?"

To Cirtolthiel's surprise, it was Farid's voice that had halted her. He ran out of the building and grinned. Cirtolthiel just had to smile back.
"So, what do we do now?" he asked, while reaching for her hand and gripping it.
"Oh...well..." Cirtolthiel pretended to be in deep thought. "Anything, I suppose." She chuckled a little and shrugged.
"It appears I just sealed my fate. I need a drink. Care to join me?" Cirtolthiel laughed again.
"Join the club. And yeah, I'm up for that." They walked off together.

Vedrit slowly shook his head "Either trust me or dont. I really dont care. I gave my pledge. That is all I can do. If it is accepted, fine and wonderful. If not, then I will take my leave." He said to the council. He wasnt in the best of moods, and Arkantos definatly didnt improve it (At this point, I would like some one who is already IN the Varden to pass judgement on whether I can be trusted) Vedrit stood still, his hands behind his back, waiting for the councils response. And the sooner he got it, the better. The heat was getting to him.
