Hathenron walked through the halls of his recently aquired temporary home. He was situated in a cozy room, although, it did not have enough room for Galzra, his Metallic red dragon. Galzra was living in a building that was outside the castle that the Varden were currently occupying. Hathenron quickly brushed his conciousness across Galzra's, and found that he was still asleep.
'I won't bother to wake him', He thought to himself, 'He'll find all about my meeting with the Varden leader when I go out to wake him'.
Hathenron had asked to meet with the varden leader in hopes of helping the cause that was rebelling against the monsters that had led to his parents injuries, and his sisters death.
As he was walking, he noticed that there were not many people out and about in the corridors of the castle. He wondered why this could be, but decided that it was probably just because it was early morning, and not many people were out of bed.
He took a left turn, and came to a highly polished wooden door. He knocked a couple of times, and waited for an answer.

Vari was standing on a short stool and flipping through a stack of papers on the large table. The reports were always so troublesome... "Fabric, fights, fish..." She listed off quietly to herself while she sorted them. A knock on the door made her lift her head, she was glad an excuse for a break had presented itself. Tucking an untidy strand of hair back in place she hopped on the stool and walked around the table to the door.
She started opening the door expecting the cook, he had been there twice already complaining about weevils or not enough bowls...little things that Andvari did not have time for. She began to think up excuses...the half-dwarf's eyes widened in surprise at the elf standing in front of her, "Hello." Was all she could manage in that moment, she stepped aside inviting him in the office.
"I can't say your familiar..." She told him turning around to look for a pair of chairs. "What has brought you to the Varden? Your folk are usually ones for..." She paused trying to find her words, "seclusion." Vari pulled up a chair to the table and offered her visitor a seat with a subtle gesture.

"Thank you", said Hathenron, as he entered the room. He looked around the subtly decorated room, expecting to see lavishes of decorations, a room for royalty, but only seeing a neat little room with subtle hints that the leader of the Varden worked in this room.
"My name is Hathenron", he told her, sitting in the chair, "And yes, usually my people stay hidden in the woods, and try not to interfere with most outside affairs, but I have my reasons. I come to you today to ask you how I may be of servie to the Varden".

"Sorry I have left the room in a mess," Vari apoligised noting him looking at the room. "I'm not much for paperwork." She explained making a distastful face at the piles or parchement on the polished wood of the table.
"Well I'm Andvari, you can call me Vari if you'd like." She offered with a friendly tone. "I'm a council member for the Varden so I can help you with most anything. I apoligise that Lord Raylborn is absent at the moment." She leaned back in her chair and raised an eyebrow, "You said you have reasons...I'm assuming they explain how you can help us?" There were pleanty of things he could help with, but considering the situation she assumed he was more specialized with the help he was offering.

"Oh no, it's not a mess", he said apologizing, "It's just that I was expecting a room decorated like a king's chambers, I see that the Varden do not bother with such things, but focus more on what needs to be done. That impresses me".
"Well, I came to the Varden form Osilon, where my parents were seriously injured, and my sister came to her death, during an attack from the empire", he told her in a calm voice, "So, I came to the Varden seeking revenge on the empire, hoping that I might get the help that I needed. And now here I am, asking what I can do to help thwart the empire".

Vari smiled. "I thank you for the complement but I'm afraid that it's simply because we are often strapped for the things we need to run the Varden. Our supply ships are few and, unfortunately, unpredictably far between." She explained frankly. "There are more important things than tapestries and nice rugs. Like keeping the people fed and sheltered." She glanced at him catching his eyes with her dark ones knowing he understood.
Andvari gave Hathenron a small sad smile, "I'm sorry for you loss, it's all to frequent these days I'm afraid." She shook her head. "Were your parents on the mend when you started traveling here?" She asked hoping they healed with few complications.
"We may not have much, but we offer gladly any aid you may need that we can supply." Vari assured him. "As for 'how', we are working on forming an attack. We have new riders training in Ellsmerra as we speak." She folded her hands on her lap. "So far, that has been our best hope, the riders. It's the only thing which we might have an advantage in." She told him honestly.

Hathenron smiled at the care that the woman showed to his parents. "Yes, they have started healing...although it will take awhile for them to become fully healthy", he told her.
He listened to her as she told him about the training that was going on, for the riders. He hoped that he would be able to get some training, as he was a novice still. "May I ask who is training the riders", he asked, "And if I would be able to join in, as Im only a very new rider, Galzra only hatched a few months ago".

She nodded understandingly, "Lets hope they heal fast and become as well as they ever were." Vari said.
"I'm only a council member, if Raylborn were here he could give you a name..." She told him reluctantly. "However, I do know that they are being trained by an elder rider. Eragon spoke of it briefly to me."
Andvari was surprised again by this visitor, but this time she could talk; "Goodness gracious, another rider?!" She said breathlessly with a grin. "Could have told me before I go and make a fool of myself." She jested with no ill intent. "Catching her wits again she answered the elf's question. "Yes you can join in. In fact, I have orders left for me to send any new rider there. I'm assuming you can find your way?" She asked. "If not, we could probably find you a guide."
"Oh dear, I'm getting ahead of myself arn't I?" She said quite excitedly. "Before you leave I can get you any provisions you need, weapons and armor included." She told him in a plain business like tone. "We have some rather famous dwarven smiths in residence who would love brag over making a rider's armor." She added with a smirk. "You should have seen the fuss over the last three riders." She shook her head mirthfully. "It was quite the ordeal, but the result was truly armor for kings." She told him with a touch of pride for her fellow dwarfs...well...half-fellow...
