William lingered long after the celebration was over, He truly wanted to speak with his apprentice, And he soon realized that Nasuada may wish to speak to him also, Which William would accept, bearing any punishment she would give him. Looking out over the city from the view of the keep he smiled a bit, Despite everything he was proud of what he had done…
William had captured a city…And that was no small feat, And along the way he had even earned his mens undying loyalty to him…

Nasuada approached William first, Isrydia hanging back to let her speak. The leader of the Varden smiled warmly at him. "I would like to personally congratulate you on your success, William. You are doing a fine job and I value you as one of the Varden's greatest members. I'm sorry about earlier with Brenton," she glanced around, but thankfully the elf had gone, "I had to side with him because I didn't want to lose his trust. He may be a pain sometimes, but he's a valuable person to have on our side. With his loyalty comes that of the elves, whom we cannot win this war without. It's difficult, but you just have to learn to treat him with respect and humour him if he gets like he was, whatever you might think inside. Trust me, I've dealt with enough people worse than him to know. His threatening the soldiers was unacceptable, as was his destroying our defences, so it was good of you to show him he couldn't do everything. All the same, now he's made that oath, I'd steer clear of saying much to him. Just in case," she laid a hand on his shoulder. "People are tricky things, and you've done well to stand up for the Varden. Just be more careful in future. Once again, thank you for all you have done for us," she smiled again, and left to some other part of the city.
Isrydia then stepped forward towards her former teacher, bouncing excitedly. The dragon was on her shoulder still, but used its wings as a parachute to glide down to the floor. This was as close to flying as it could get, its wings being too weak to support it and its magic not being strong enough yet to compensate as it did for the huge dragons which physics should not normally allow to fly. It scampered over to William curiously and sniffed his boot, giving it a playful nip before looking at him happily with eyes like deep pools of dark blue sky, icy tail swishing lazily from side to side.
"It's good to finally be able to talk in peace! How was the battle, really? You said before I left that you thought you would die. Was it a close thing, then?" she asked, wanting to here more about the battle besides obviously exaggerated praise for this spellcaster, that Rider, and general such-and-such.

William nodded his head as Nasuada spoke to him, Nodding his head as she congratulated him on the success of the battle, then when she got to the part of the kings actions William finally spoke. Politely waiting for her to finish speaking before he himself spoke.
“My only concern was my men, And the defense of the city. I had no personal Quarrel with him, Which is one reason why I declined when he challenge me to a fight, I assume he was attempting to undermine my leadership, but that backfired.” William said with a bit of a sigh, Then he bowed a bit as she walked away.
When his apprentice approached he let a smile cross his face, then a larger one as the dragon glided down to his feet and nipped at his boot. Then kneeling down he moved to put up the small dragon, So at least to place him on his shoulder.
William was amazed that his apprentice was a rider, No William thought, Not a dragon rider…She was a knight…She was no mere rider…She was a Dragon Knight…Yes…That sounded good…
Smiling William looked up at his apprentice “To bad you cant be a rider…”

The dragon let William pick it up, having never properly met another human aside from its Rider. It shuffled its wings, swaying its tail to gain balance. People's shoulders were its favourite place to perch, this being the best place to be at eye level with other people rather than having to be looked down on by everyone. It was strange being at eye level with Isrydia, being used to seeing her from below or from close up while perched on her shoulder, and had never seen her from the perspective of another human. A tendril of thought touched William's mind, the dragon wanting him to know that it liked him. It was dimly aware that this must be one of the many people Isrydia had told it about, and he was being nice to her and itself.
Isrydia gave a small laugh when William spoke, both at his words and at the dragon, who seemed interested in learning as much about the places and people around it as possible. "Sure I can be a Rider! I mean, the whole running into battle and mopping up all the glory doesn't suit me, but I don't have to be one of those Riders," she knew that some Riders could let their fame get to their heads, but was determined not to be like that.

William smiled as he felt the tendril of thought touch his mind, expressing happiness. He then scratched the young dragon under its chin before looking at his apprentice and shaking his head.
“No. You wont be a rider, because you where a knight first…You…Wyou will be a Dragon knight…” William said smiling a bit before looking down at the ground, Thinking back on the battle.
“And to answer your original question…It was a close thing. At one time I was done… I was cornered against a wall…Facing down a rider, A mysterious skilled woman…And a Dragon…Then…My men returned…Surounded them…With infantry and archers…My men are the reason why I am Alive…And that is why I defended them during the celebration…” William said letting out a sigh as he admitted his true reason, William depended on his men…And Vice versa…

The dragon liked being scratched under the chin, stretching out its neck happily. Relaxing on William's shoulder, it felt completely at ease and trusting of the knight. From contact with his mind and from what it could see from the complete connection with Isrydia's mind, it could tell that the man cared for its Rider and was protective over her. This willing to protect was something it shared, although Isrydia felt friendship towards William but there was a deep bond of love like one between family between her and her dragon. Aside from this, the dragon felt that William was not too dissimilar to it.
"Dragon Knight! I like it!" Isrydia was pleased by the sound of the new title William made up. It was with more seriousness that she listened to his description of battle. It sounded like a dangerous event she was glad not to have been mixed up in. Somehow, it was difficult to think of him as being in a situation where he very nearly died. If he was nearly killed with his skill, she would have been a goner for sure. "Wow... the Varden fight hard. They are more dedicated than the Empire, for the most part. That's the impression I get, anyway. From what I heard at the celebration, they really look up to you. I reckon they'll follow you wherever you take them. What about this Rider, dragon and woman? Surely your men couldn't have killed all three, especially not the dragon, however good they were," she was curious about this, as she had not heard these three attackers mentioned before.
