After the Battle of the Burning Plains, Eragon began to get disturbed by a series of visions in which Arya was killed by a group of assasins. He resolved to protect her at all costs. And indeed, in 15 days, Arya was walking alone through the camp when 5 of the Varden's top warriors intercepted her. Eragon roared and tried to kill them. But some of the Black Hand appeared and distracted him.
By the time he finished them, Arya was dead. He swore that he would kill Galbatorix for this. All of his hatred, anger and sadness caused a blackness to build up inside him. Saphira also got affected in a similar way. A part of him was now ready to turn to inhuman methods. Eragon talked to Jeod and found out where the secret passage to Galbatorix's castle was located. He and Saphira flew to a place deep within Uru'Baen. The journey was fraught with danger.
When he reached Uru'Baen, he found the passage and soon gained entrance into Galbaorix's castle. He evaded the guards using magic. Soon, he reached a place where no soldiers were found. There was a heavily padlocked door there. Suspecting that the green dragon egg was there, Saphira melted the locks and they both went in.
It was a shock for them when they saw a huge magic barrier, inside which there was a black nimbus. As soon as they saw it, their mind began to get torn apart. All good was wiped from them. The wickedness in their mind grew. They were as Glabatorix was.
The black nimbus was a nameless being, far older than all others. Actually, Galbatorix had been controlled by this spirit. Now, with the wickedness fully in his mind, Eragon killed Galbatorix and Saphira killed Shruiken. Then, he crowned himself king, more evil and powerful than Galbatorix was. Murtagh was forced to enslaved to him with the secret names he had learned from Glabatorx's mind. All hope seemed to be lost.
But it so happened that a young elf called Eridor found a huge pile of eggs hidden deep in the crags of Tel'Nair, where Saphira had trained with the mighty Glaedr. He collected them and was about to take them to Islanzadi when one of the silver dragon eggs hatched for him. He named it Sinnear.
When he reached Ellesmera, he was honored greatly by Islanzadi. He trained under Oromis for nearly 60 years as Eragon had withdrawn into Uru'Baen and had made no move. On the next Agaethi Blodhren, Eridor was formally presented with a rider's sword which had been maewith Rhunon's advice as she herself could not craft it.
The other eggs were divided and ten of them were taken to the Varden.On the way, the Raz'zac and their parents attacked and managed to take 5 of the eggs. The guardians managed to take the other five. Eragon was greatly pleased with 5 more eggs. He would be King indeed.

The Varden had grown strong since Eragon had turned out to be evil. The Varden had many great leaders after thedeath of Nasuada. The leaders effectively increased the administration and economic situation. Now the new leader is Joren. He has just completed his first year as leader. The Varden has also discovered many new and powerful ways of making weapons. Now they are preparing for their first assault on Eragon.
Eridor is now very powerful, having trained all these years. The eggs had started hatching five years ago. He is ready to go out and face the Empire as Alagaesia's best hope.
The other eggs are still being ferried regularly between Surda and Ellesmera. Now the ferriers are in Ellesmera.
(In Eragon's castle)
The servant shivered in the magically cold air as he knelt before his lord in the dungeons."I bring news my lord. The Varden are preparing to assault the Empire," he reported in a quavering voice. Out of the shadows, a pale man with burning eyes and bald head came forth. He smiled coldly."Thyrsta," he whispered. The man fell down shreiking with pain and writhing about as his chest crumpled."The fools are attacking. We are ready," said a humongous blue dragon with black spikes long her body. Together, Eragon and Saphira left their room and went to their private quarters.
A cheerful fire was burning in the room when they entered. "Prepare the troops for battle, Murtagh," Eragon told the rider kneeling before him."Yes my lord," he murmured and hastened out of the room. Eragon surveyed the fire with a drawn brow and put it out with his foot."we would do well to send the shades into battle too," growled Saphira.
"Send for the other commanders," shouted Eragon and heard a soldier running. Soon, his three commanders were in his room. He surveyed them quietly."You will enter the battle later. For now, aim on getting stronger," he informed them. Silently, Ristalle, Dreaner and Kenji left the room.
The battle has begun.
