Moratensis walked through the streets of the city he had been born in. He had recently been spotted stealing from merchants in other cities so here he was, enjoying what he had stolen in his home city. He looked at the farm in the distance.. the same farm where he had murdered a man for the first time. He shivered and kept walking. He kept telling himself it was an accident but was it? Was it an accident? He kept walking until he reached the market-way. He walked through the street, looking for any food he could ration such as bread, meat, or anything of the sorts. He had once tried to steal a pot but had been waked on the head with it instead.
He looked to his left and found an elderly woman with 3 children selling bread. His usually cheerful eyes grew dim as he watched with sadness as the children fought among themselves for a small loaf of bread. He went to another seller who was selling cooked meat. He bought the biggest one he could find then walked over to the lady and handed the juicy crispy meat to the children. Sure, he's still a thief, but he did good things in his life. The woman looked at him with awe and happiness. He smiled then leaned down, took 5 loaves of bread and dropped down ten golden crowns -- almost all he had left with him and more than what the loaves were worth.
As he packed his things, he saw a man selling leather skins. He walked over and started a conversation,"Hello, how much would a strip of leather cost me?" he asked the man who responded gruffly, "Five gold crowns.". Moratensis burst out. Outrageous! He stayed far from the merchant-square and waited. The moon shone and the sun hid. He stood up and sneaked over to the merchants' stand. Quickly, he grabbed six strips of leather then snuck over to the merchant who had been selling meat. He grabbed as much as his person could carry then ran away to an inn and climbed up to the roof where he perched making leather-skins for water up to morning. He doubted he would be caught though he would not be going back to the merchant-square.
