Tiir sat at the table in the inn's common room staring into his empty mug. He was wearing an empire military uniform and a sword hung at his side. The markings on his uniform marked him as a Lieutenant. He seemed either not to care or notice the boisterous crowd and music that filled the building. A until of the Empire had been ordered to investigate strange sightings in Cavernhall and the Spine. The rumors said riders were hiding in the cursed mountains. Tiir didn't care about if there were or weren't riders there. He didn't really want to be part of the Empire or anything to do with humans who were less than superior to him, but he didn't have much choice.
A red haired girl sat down next to him and passed him a sandwich. He looked up surprised but took the offered food. "How you got promoted so fast I'll never know," she said. Her uniform indicated she was only a cadet but she was about the same age as Tiir. "You do too know," he scoffed. "Īno Dwō, feared one bane of mages." The girl chuckled slightly. "Yeah, but that's not what I mean. You don't care for the empire or really anyone yet you keep advancing ranks," she said.
Tiir looked at her his black eyes seemed to soften slightly from their usual cold look. "I care about you Keifer. The empire just sees a good use for me and as long as I play along as their puppet I'm of more use higher up than remaining low in the ranks," he said. Kiefer smiled at his words he'd never said that to her before but she nodded. "Well I hate to be a downer but there isn't much you can do about it. I-" she started to say before her words were drowned out by a loud crash as two cadets in their unit broke into a fight smashing one table. "Shouldn't you stop them?" Kiefer asked Tiir. The black haired Lieutenant glanced over at the fight. "Probably," he said but not bothering to move from their table.
Soon the colonel stormed over to the two fighting and broke up the fight. Tiir didn't bother to listen to what he was telling them off for, until the colonel came over to his table. "What?" Tiir asked. The colonel shook his head. "Tiir your supposed to help me out with discipline, as of this mission your my second in command." Tiir sighed, of course most of the solider were busy anticipating an attack from the Varden. Most of their unit were cadets, he and the colonel were the only commissioned officers in the group. "Alright, alright," Tiir said waving off the colonel's words. The colonel sighed and left the table. "It's things like that, that get you in trouble and lost you your last promotion," Kiefer reminded him. "I don't care about the promotion or this army," Tiir said taking a bite of his sandwich. "Maybe you should," Kiefer said as she stood up and left to go to her room. The entire inn had been bought out to supply rooms for the small military unit.

Laetri walked through the forests of the Spine. He had just recently arrived along with Agaravel. They had left Ellesmera long ago. The Varden needed more soldiers, and by reckon he was not one to enter politics and such. The young elf walked back to the farm they had taken after they realized it was abandoned. It served him well and Agaravel as she just sat in the barn most nights.. as did he, sleeping next to her, the warmth of her belly keeping him from the cold. He looked at the nearby village, surprised. There seemed to be a lot of action. He informed Agaravel who immediately declined and said,"No, I'm coming with you.". Laetri sighed and ran a hand through his hair in frustration. He loved Agaravel but sometimes she was annoying. She was a dragon, and he didn't seem to be human. They would stick out. In the end however, when she threatened to lick him, she ended up going, flying high up.
Approaching the village, Laetri was halted by guards -- or more specifically, Empire soldiers. He frowned. What was the Empire doing here? "State your business boy!" growled one of them. Laetri smiled sweetly at him and said, "I'm just a passer-by. I live close from here but my farm was ransacked. I came here to stay temporarily at the inn.". "Well you're outta luck. The inn's gone. It's ours now. Now scram!" said the guard. Furious, Laetri stabbed him with Thringa, then turned and threw Thringa at the other guard who opened his mouth as if to scream but no sound came.
Satisfied, Laetri took Thringa, wiping the blood off the light blue blade and sheathed it. He proceeded to cover his ears with his hood and entered the inn -- just in time to see a commotion. He stood at the door watching and was knocked away as a man furiously entered. He quickly set them in order then walked to a man who had death stained all over him. He eyed the man before sitting down. He was glad he had bought gloves else his gewdey insignia would have given him away long ago.
Attempting to not look out of place, Laetri frowned. This place... he saw no other villagers inside and all he saw were armed soldiers. He talked to one of the soldiers and was given his answer : he and Agaravel had been seen. His blood went cold but he quickly calmed himself. He stayed inside a little longer, making sure not to attract attention to himself. Though he wasn't part of the Varden, he wasn't part of the Empire either. That meant that he would be quickly hunted to be taken to Galbatorix to swear his allegiance to him. He sat there and enjoyed his meal as much as he could. This day had just gotten interesting.

The city of Therinsford rested close to the Spine and close to the only town known as Carvahall where Brom had once lived with Eragon before the farm boy had found the blue stone that had turned out to be Saphira's egg. Now Brenton walked over the fields of the land with Grazael flying overhead in the clouds so that he was out of sight of everyone below. The elven king was not too worried about Grazael being attacked but for some reason there were heavy Empire activities and as a former servant of the tyrant king, he knew what that meant. Brenton was a major enemy of the Empire and if Grazael had been with him then that would have made him more of a target. Instead he wore his cloak that covered his silver armor and Undbitr's sheathe and belt. On his back was his bow and quiver of arrows but he didn't bother to hide that since most people carried a bow now a days.
On his hands were his gauntlets covered in leather so that they hid the gedwey ignasias on both hands as well as his scarred skin that showed the years of slavery to Galbatorix. Brenton stepped within sight of Therinsford and saw two dead guards lying on the ground. Silently he approached with his hand at his side ready to draw Undbitr. On a second thought he pulled off his bow and drew an arrow which he put at the bowstring. If he were ready with a bow then he would be less obvious compared to if he walked in with a sword in hand.
Brenton entered the town and saw what was causing the commotion, an inn had been bought for Empire use only and that meant that this was a mission that required a large force of Empire men. Oh how it would please him to cause trouble for these soldiers, so Brenton walked into the alley and drew a dagger. Quickly he walked behind three guards and in rapid succession, stabbed them all in the back, dispatching them with a slash across the throat. Then he repeated the process with another two groups of three soldiers before sheathing the blade after cleaning it. Brenton pulled his hood down and made sure his hair covered his slightly pointed ears but there was nothing he could do for the features that any competent Empire soldier would recognize as Brenton Bromsson, traitor of the Empire.
He walked into the tavern like he was meant to be there and barely noticed that someone was busy dealing with a fight as well as someone of higher rank ignoring it. A mug of ale, if you would, sir. Brenton's voice had the distinct dialect of the elven race and that would give him away as well if anyone were paying attention. When his ale came, Brenton handed over the money and then started sipping, keeping his eyes on the group of soldiers.

Tiir soon abandoned the sandwich his friend had brought him. It was rather bland and not all that filling. Most of the time military food was rather poor but this wasn't even military food, it was from the inn. He wondered how this inn even had staid in business with such lousy food. When Laetri entered the inn, Tiir caught him eying him for a moment before sitting down. He had no reason to suspect who Laetri was but before he could get any further along that line of thought another man entered, Brenton. Without provocation Tiir stood up suddenly alert and looked serious, rather than his half caring demeanor when the fight had broken out between two soldiers.
Lucky for Brenton, Tiir had been low in the ranks until recently and had never seen him before. At best he'd only seen crude drawings from have competent artists. He straightened his sword as it had shifted during the time he'd been sitting. Then approached Brenton taking a seat near him. He was holding his empty mug in his left hand but didn't ask for a refill from the serving boys who ran about the room trying to fill orders for the soldiers. "Who are you? Mage, wizard...rider? I can feel your energy like smoke in the air," he said. As an Īno Dwō, devourer of magic he had honed his senses to detect magic. He had no idea who or what Brenton was only that he and Laetri had magic. "Are you with him," he added pointing at Laetri.

Brenton looked over at the Empire soldier and thought over all of the faces he had seen while in the service to the king before he escaped. This was Tiir if Brenton remembered correctly but he had never actually had any contact with the man so that gave him an advantage for the time being. The king gave a brief sigh and showed Tiir his award winning smile that meant he wasn't answering idiotic questions. Finally Brenton looked over and saw the elf Laetri who had more than likely been the one to kill the first two guards. As he opened his mouth to say that he had no idea who the elf was, a guard ran in shouting about eleven others being dead, killed by blades. Nine of them had a stab would and cut throat while two just had stab wounds. This was going to be interesting as Brenton gathered himself to flee but remained seated. A higher ranking Empire soldier stood and walked over to deal with it and Brenton chuckled. Do you honestly not know me, Tiir? I am sorely disappointed that the Empire forgets that "friends" so easily now a days. He glanced over at Laetri again. As for this fellow patron, I know nothing of him besides the fact that he is obviously a fighter.

Laetri eyed the Lieutenant and Brenton, not knowing either of them or why he was being watched. He reached with his mind to Agaravel and said,"Be careful. They seem to realize the guards. That or an un-wanted visitor of the Empire dropped by." He could feel her anger and fury at the Empire. Why would they harm the towns-folk"Well in either case, be careful."[/b] He nodded curtly then remembered she wasn't here and acknowledged. He continued to watch the Lieutenant as he slowly slipped out of his chair and walked out of the room. He had an odd feeling that something was to happen in there and he wanted no part of it. The young elf continued to wander the town, and as he entered a small alley, was confronted by a dozen of guards. He recognized one of them as the high-ranked man.
"Well then boys, seems we have found our killer. Get him!" yelled the man, his yell sounding a little like a pig's squeal. Resisting the urge to laugh, Laetri unsheathed Thringa and slit the first man's throat then continued to wirl, taking down three more men with three more strokes. Finally, Laetri eyed the last man, the Colonel who turned and ran -- but not before Laetri grabbed him by the collar, threw him down and stabbed him in the heart. He looked around him and sneered at the dead bodies. He sheathed Thringa and walked out of the alley. Five minutes later however, he heard shouts of men. So they must have figured what had happened. He was ready to get out of this town.

Tiir showed little emotion as he spoke with Brenton. At the elf's words he hesitated to answer, instead studying over the man before him. "Seems I know more of him than you," he said vaguely. "Your Brenton, one of our own or used to be," he said. While they had never met in person he'd heard of him before. It wasn't often a rider was able to flee the Empire after all. Besides knowing that or not he could sense the immense magical power of the dragon. Magic he wanted magic he would devour if given the chance.
At the shouts of men Tiir turned as a soldier came in. "There's and elf...he killed the Colonel..." the man said out of breath. Tiir sighed. Great that meant he was in charge. "Regroup at the north gate," he said. Most of the soldiers here were inexperienced and only cadets, obviously they couldn't stand up to a rider. Yes he knew Laetri was a rider, he could sense the magic of the dragon. It made it easy for him to find Riders because of their power, which was why he had been sent on this mission. The glanced at Brenton. "Be glad I'm busy at the moment, the reward on your head is quite worth the trouble," he said then darted out of the inn. He smiled and walked towards the ally the elf was in following the 'scent' of potential magic in him. "Rider, are you such a coward that you must fight those defenseless to you?" he called out. All those besides the Colonel were quite young and would be no match for any Rider.

Laetri turned around to Tiir and smiled."I am no coward to provoke those whom I know are no match to me. Yet they assaulted me, and I fixed that so that they wouldn't be able to. If you have such a problem, deal with it with me right now." He put his hand on Thringa's hilt ready to unsheath it within a moment's notice. He knew there had been something about the young man, and he was right. He had a magical aura yet different than most. It seemed to hunger, and devour, not give and fulfill. He eyed the man carefully. Then suddenly,"I'm coming!" said Agaravel and before Laetri could tell her otherwise, she dived in towards the ground roaring. At five months' age she was a spectacular sight, her blue scales shining brightly. As she landed next to Laetri, she eyed Tiir. This man would be a possible threat.. he had to be dealt with. Though she knew herself and Laetri did not have the heart to murder him.
Hoping that Tiir would let them by, Laetri and Agaravel walked backwards never shifting their gaze and then just as they were about to turn and run, the rest of the soldiers had gathered at the north, ruining that plan. Laetri didn't want to force Agaravel to fly as that would risk her wing membrane to being damaged, the one place where an Archer could hit with ease. Laetri's eyes shifted back to the inn. He remember Tiir mention the name Brenton. Could the king be here? That might be his one and only way out. As even though Laetri was technically a bit older than the king, he had very little experience as a Rider.
((Now guys, seeing as 2 Riders are up against Tiir and a bunch of Empire Soldiers, I'm gonna add Ragdar to the mix to even it out.))
Ragdar yawned, stretching on the back of Lenora as they made their way to Therinsford. He wondered what was there for his father to send him there. He had been informed of all the names of the superior officers there... that being only two. He quickly dismissed the Colonel as his name meant nothing to him, yet Tiir? Oh dear Tiir, he had heard much of him from the gossip of his soldiers. If this was truly the man who was in charge there then he had no idea why he had to go. Yet he already had his share of punishment, not that he'd do it again. Lenora roared as if to signal their arrival and dived down, her massive size due to the augmentations making her look much bigger than she would at the age of 1 year and a half. Ragdar jumped down, Arucane quickly in his hand and spotted Tiir.. and Laetri. He snorted, Tiir could handle him. He looked at the inn and yelled to Tiir,"Is that where Brenton is?"
With a quick confirmation, Ragdar walked inside, and immediately spotted Brenton. The man had a heavy hood for crying out loud, who other than a man hiding his ears would do that in this intense heat? Ragdar walked in, thinking, about ears... these people sure have an interest in mine. Of course, he was as strong as a half elf and his body was changing after a year or so with Lenora. He looked around as everyone left, heading towards one of the gates. He kicked at Brenton's table then left the room as well. He looked at Lenora and said,"Burn it to the ground" He knew that wouldn't kill Brenton, he wouldn't be that foolish, yet if he left then he would be an easy picking for Ragdar. Ragdar was about the same age as Brenton, the only difference between them being Ragdar had two Eldunari and a maturely-grown dragon. Brenton didn't. Also Ragdar knew magic much more than Brenton thanks to his father. He watched the building go up in flames and smiled grimly.
((So I'm thinking Tiir could RP a fight out with Laetri as I'd rather not RP against myself, and Ragdar RP against Brenton. Yeah?))

Brenton had been ready to stand and go aid Laetri when Ragdar walked in. His eyes blazed and the king stood ready to fight. Young One, this is a strong opponent and I am no longer alive to aid you as I did with Uruale. Call Grazael and take flight so you may still help in the war. Vaentr's mind touched Brenton but he dismissed it and drew Undbitr. Right as the building went up in flames, Brenton used a simple spell to make a hole in the back wall. He walked out through the opening and walked around to confront Ragdar.
Are you sure you want to attack me? For all you know I can be stronger than you already. Brenton raised his blade and felt the slight weight of Vaentr's eldunari on his left hip and the pouch of gems on his right hip. Each gem held enough energy to take down a fortress but he only had three of them aside from his own gem in Undbitr's pommel.
Brenton knew that, while he had trained with the greatest Empire riders for twelve years, Ragdar was still an equal in this fight. I'm ready to help you, Brenton. Currently I fly high in the air. Brenton heard Grazael and smirked.

Tiir seemed unsurprised when the dragon landed, instead he seemed pleased. The dragon radiated of magic, magic he wanted to consume. He advanced as they retreated before realizing their plan was foiled. "Not that I care for those pathetic humans, I just thought you had more honor than to slaughter them," he said. Aside from the Colonel everyone in the regiment had been young, just new trainee's who had yet to see their first real battle. How he had seen them as a threat Tiir didn't know.
The young man drew his own blade, the slight rasp of metal as it touched the rim around his sheath. The blade was not all that spectacular, Thringa was easily superior to this blade. It was no rider blade by any means or even close to equal. But it wasn't swordplay Tiir wanted, he wanted Laetri to attack him with magic. That or get close enough to kill Laetri and his dragon, which would allow him to consume their energy as they died. Few had seen him do such a thing but those that did called him a cannibal for it.
Tiir glanced up when he heard someone call to him. He had not been expecting any reinforcements but the help would be welcome. Obviously none of his soldiers would be able to withstand even one of the two riders. Ragdar certainly could though as could Tiir despite not being a Rider himself. He nodded briefly knowing the keen eyes of Ragdar's dragon would see the motion.
Returning his attention to Laetri he charged swinging his sword in a wide arch to get the most strength he could into the blow. Did Laetri have wards on him? He sure hoped so. For as his sword neared the elf he reached out hungrily to devour any magic wards around the elf. Doing so would strengthen him and weaken the elf's defenses.

Laetri was glad he had forgot to put wards upon himself for the first time in his life. He parried the attack, grunting at the weight of the blade and the force behind it, then jumped back. Something felt wrong. This man... his magic had something to it. It wasn't as magic he had seen before. No, this man's aura hungered and devoured. Carefully, Laetri sent a small bolt of fire at the man knowing it would probably be sent right back him. So it was true, the Mage Hunters did exist. If that was the case then Laetri's magic would be less than useless against such a foe. He looked at the king as he left the burned down building un-touched and smiled. He knew the king was an even match for the new Rider who had arrived, Ragdar. But he was unsure about himself. Could he take down this foe? Being an elf he had heightened skills yet in some cases, strength wasn't all that mattered.
Agaravel, who had been listening to Laetri's thoughts roared and then swung her tail at Tiir. She knew not to douse him with fire, as her fire was magical and would most probably be redirected towards them. And if that happened then Laetri was defenseless even though she would make it out alive. It was these situations that bothered her. They couldn't run and leave the king and the townsfolk but nor could they risk staying and fighting such an enemy. Flicking her tail nervously, she accidentally slammed it into one of the watch towers the Empire must have made and it fell. Luckily for her, it fell towards Tiir yet not exactly on him. More of putting a barrier between them.
|
Ragdar grinned wickedly at the king."Brenton, Brenton, Brenton. You really think my father shared his precious secrets with you? You see, we already were onto you. Where you were one step ahead of us, we were two steps ahead of you. Your escape was deliberate. We wanted you to become king of the elves. To give them hope then snuff it out once again. My father never trusted you, he does however, trust me. And that gives me an advantage. Unlike Uruale last time you fought him, I am more stronger than he was then. I have Eldunari behind me, and a dragon. What do you have? A hatchling flying up in the air? The eldunari of your old dragon? Yes Brenton, we know all about your new aspects. Our spies have kept us informed. You may be a half-elf, but as you may have noticed, I'm not quite human myself. Now, shall we dance?" he said maniacally.
Without warning, Arucane was in his hand and he dashed forward towards the king, stabbing at his chest, then disengaging. He circled Brenton as Lenora roared and flew up to the sky to face the hatchling. She let out a large pillar of fire around her in the clouds to figure out where he was. She readied herself as Ragdar let loose his magic. Firing bolts of fire after another, Ragdar cackled maniacally and summoned a large hound of flames to his aid. The hound was imperious to much other than magic. Clawing at Brenton, the hound opened his large maw to roar and bit at Brenton.

Tiir frowned slightly when he found no magical wards around the elf. It was no matter though. He was an adequate enough swordsman to stand up against the elf. After all he was stronger and faster than humans. Technically he was human, but he didn't like to classify himself among their type. He was superior. As Laetri shot the bolt of fire at him he did not flinch or try to avoid it instead he lowered his sword for that instance and let it hit him as he laughed. Ah the power, it was small but he had been without any magic to take since embarking on this mission. Instead of sending the fire back he simply absorbed it into himself allowing it's energy to fill him.
As Agaravel swung her tail at Tiir he jumped straight up into the air, higher than he or any elf should've been able to. Obviously he was using the small amount of energy he'd gotten from the fire, directing into his being. He landed lightly on the ground just in time to see the tower falling towards him. To avoid it he darted towards Laetri to ensure he'd be on the same side and not cut off by the tower. He managed it only with centimeters to spare, the tower nearly grazing his back. He seemed unbothered by it though as he stood watching rider and dragon. "Is that fear in your eyes?" he mocked. "Seems as though maybe riders aren't quite so powerful after all when faced with someone superior."

Brenton shrugged barely and raised Undbitr as he drew Argetadurna with his other hand to meet the blade in Ragdar's hand as it swung toward him. While this second blade was not a Rider's blade, it was crafted by the same swordsmith, Rhunon and therefore was stronger than all other elven blades. The sound of metal against metal rang forth and the king swung to the side as he cast a spell on the ground to create a magical earthen titan dog to attack the fire hound. The earthen creature attacked and Brenton swung his blades at Ragdar.

Laetri smiled at Tiir."I do not fear such a cannibal as you. Nor would I fear an abomination such as yourself. You are against the very flow of life. A mistake. I will undo you and release you of your burden." he growled in a low voice. Soon enough, he struck closer, stabbing at him, as if fencing and then swiftly disengaged in time as Agaravel swung her tail once again Almost immediately after she had swung, Laetri jumped above her tail and aimed at Tiir's right arm in an arc. The metal of Thringa humming. Laetri eyed the man. He wondered if he had a limit and so asked Agaravel to bathe the man in dragon fire. Laetri stood a little away, shielding his eyes at what he would see after the inferno would be a scorched body.
Agaravel kept the flame on for about 5 whole minutes and at the end, crushed a nearby tower, trapping Tiir in the middle of the two towers then bathed the debris with flame. It wouldn't harm him but it would make him uncomfortable and annoyed. Annoyance led to rash decisions. Laetri jumped over the debris and faced his opponent, holding Thringa with one hand and the other holding a small blue flame.
Ragdar shrugged as Brenton spoke."Your funeral." he murmured as he swung again viciously. Brenton had learned much, but his father never taught him all his magic. On the other hand, Ragdar knew all sorts of magic and had two Eldunari much the same as Brenton had an Eldunari and his gems."Look Brenton, I know you're Varden, were Empire, you escape, and now my dad has me in bits and fits. Do you know how it feels like to sit in my father's chambers sitting there for a straight hour just listening to him complain about how I had duties too? And so, come with me peacefully, you won't get hurt, then you could run away again, I couldn't care less but I just want my dad off my back, 'kay?" he said to Brenton, matter of factly.
Lenora shook her head the best a dragon could. Ragdar surely was more mad than Galbatorix. She herself took action, lunging at Brenton, biting at him. She honestly didn't care less but Ragdar decided on this and she would do anything Ragdar did. She then chased Grazael around, more playful than harmful but as he attacked her, she roared and began chasing him, and as she got closer, she rammed into his side furiously biting at him.

"And people wonder why I hate them?" Tiir said mostly to himself in response to Laetri's words. Abomination, is that what Laetri saw him as? An Abomination that should've never been born? No one understood him, everyone had much a similar opinion to the elf's. Was it wrong to live his own life or was he to die simply because he was different than most. It hurt, it really did to hear things like this, that's why he liked to be alone most of the time, but he had to keep reminding himself that he was superior. That's why others treated him this way, they didn't like what they don't understand. "Your just like everyone else," he said half to himself in a low voice. It didn't matter if it was a rider, farmer or blacksmith, no one understood him.
Tiir easily parried the stab redirecting it harmlessly to his side. This time he was caught by the dragon's tail. Fighting two on one was hard enough even if he did have an unusual ability. He landed hard but managed to bring up his blade in time to partially block Laetri's blow at his arm. His arm trembled slightly from the force behind the blow and his sword had a good dent in it. Laetri's sword had slid past his defense enough to strike his right arm. He grimaced as pain shot through his arm. He rolled and got to his feet just as Agaravel bathed him in fire. Instead of any cry of agony Tiir laughed and remained within the fire not attempting to flee it. Tiir frowned as the tower fall trapping him between the two but he remained in control of his emotions, the flame seeming to encourage him to remain where he was as long as no other threat was there. When Laetri jumped over the debris to face him Tiir smiled at him like a mad man. There were no visible injuries on him. He was completely unharmed and the injury on his right arm was gone, apparently he'd used the magic from the fire to heal himself. There had been more than a surplus of energy from the fire and a light orange red glow surrounded Tiir as a result. He smiled seeing the small blue flame in the elf's hand. "Really, now you make this way to easy for me, do you really think you can win?" he said. He darted forward with speed faster than even an elf, obviously using the magic he'd gained from the dragon fire to do so, as he tried to steal Thringa from Laetri's grasp.

Brenton cursed as Lenora attacked him and he was forced to jump back, feet leaving the ground and hitting back down a good distance away. Then the king ran forward and jumped up, aiming a well placed kick at Ragdar's chest. When it connected, Brenton went to stab him but the kick had been less than perfect and so he fell down on his side, rolling and standing again, Argetadurna and Undbitr raised in a defensive position. Tempting but do you really think that Galbatorix would be so lenient upon me to let me escape again from him. No the next time I go there it will be to cut his throat and then hand over the throne to someone else who deserves it. Brenton swung the two blades in quick succession until he had driven the man back but then faltered at the thought of killing Ragdar. While he had been one of his greatest enemies, Brenton was still sure that Ragdar was also a great ally if he was in the same position. To be honest, after spending so long with Ragdar as a friend, Brenton couldn't kill him and that was a sign of weakness to the Empire.
I can't kill you, Ragdar, but that doesn't make us any better than enemies. If you ever want to leave Galbatorix then just find your way to Du Weldenvarden and we will offer asylum to you. You won't have to swear any oaths to us or the Varden or even fight in the war for anyone but you can live there and spend your life doing whatever you want. With that, Brenton took off and kicked off of a building, twice springing upward until he was over the roof. As he cleared the roof, Grazael swooped down and the king landed on the dragon. They flew off toward Ellesmera, casting a spell at Laetri to aid him by some means. All it would really do is grant the elf additional speed for up to fifteen minutes to do with as he pleased and that was all Brenton was willing to do at the time.

Ragdar couldn't believe his luck. There was Brenton, ripe for picking. Grazael obviously couldn't handle a fight against Lenora and Ragdar was more than certain he could handle Brenton in sword-play. He mounted Lenora who took flight after Grazael, and as she got closer, she nipped at his wings, then followed up by swinging her tail at his side, and bit at his tail. Ragdar grinned maniacally and said,"Just some good ol' fashioned saying, burn baby, burn! I don't need asylum from the likes of you, Elf." towards Brenton as he fired two fire bolts in succession towards Grazael, followed up by a wide arc aimed at Grazael's wing membrane, hoping to render him unable to fly. It wouldn't last long, a day at max, but that was all he needed.
Had it not been for Brenton, Laetri would have been dead at that moment. Tiir's hand flew faster than he could have tracked and just at the last moment, Brenton's spell took affect and Laetri quickly disengaged, jumping back a couple of meters. He eyed Tiir with a bit more caution now. So he did devour magic and use it to rejuvenate himself. He cautiously got closer, taking note that Tiir's sword was dented. At least Laetri had the upper hand with the weapon. He told Agaravel to stop the flames and said to Tiir,"Look, you can't kill me and I am reluctant to take your life. End this, go back to Uru'Baen and no further conflict will be necessary." his voice soothing and reasonable.
((Sorry, pretty low on my muse. Not much really to say))

[it's okay]
Tiir held his sword at ready when Laetri cautiously advanced. "You call me an abomination then seek to reconcile with me by not wanting to take my life? Your words are empty and you are wrong. I can kill you and I am not reluctant to do so. I was ordered here to either kill or capture a rider and that's what I'm going to do," he said. The elf's soothing and reasonable words were lost on Tiir. With the benefit of the dragon fire, Tiir was not even the slightest worn out from their fight, Laetri on the other hand he was sure was more worn out than he. Tiir was superior. He glanced at Agaravel then darted for her at an incredible speed easily matching the benefit Brenton's spell would give Laetri. He came up alongside the dragon he infused his blade with energy causing it to heat up and jumped for her wing slashing at it with his sword. The dent in it would ensure a more painful and less clean cut tear on the thin membrane of the wing and the heat would enhance the pain. Riders had their weakness and strength in the same thing, their dragon's. If he harmed Agaravel it was sure to at least delay or pain her rider and with any luck give Tiir more of an advantage than he already had by simply being superior. Granted that was his own opinion.
