Hello Users of Argetlam!

My name is Jate'kara, at least, until I change my display name for my character, and I'd like to introduce myself to this new roleplay I've found.

A little bit about me, I came across this when me and a large group of people went on the web to search for an Inheritance Cycle roleplay community. Now, for the past two years my experience comes from multiple stories lead on communities such as Google+ with a solid hundred or so active people. (Know some people still search for professional websites that do this and if I get a good feeling about this one, I'll definitely bring in some more players.) now I have never roleplay we on a legitimate website before so I ask that everyone bears with me as I adjust to the new environment. Now before I submit my character I have a few questions for anyone who comes across this:
1. Is this community very active?
2. Are the mods active and do there job well?
3. When I make my character, am I allowed to make one with the sort of background where it starts out as a non-rider, but can become one by a chance encounter?
4. Can I only give my character it's first name if its background is orphaned with no known heritage?
5. If the character doesn't know magic, but has the potential, can it learn throughout the story, or does it all have to be set and done all in the creation?
6. Would you recommend the mobile version of Proboards as a quick resource?
7. Do other people Roleplay as your dragon, or are they just wild?

I look forward to starting my adventure with you all, and hope that I can contribute in a new way that you haven't been exposed to with my style. Know that I don't have too much experience with advanced forums like this, so this is my first time with this kind of environment so a little extra grace is required. Again, thanks for having me,

Hello Jate'kara! I'm Vlaer. Well let me answer your questions!

Answer 1: Yes it is rather active, except for some times when a few of us are on holidays. Quetzal is on holiday but will be back soon but it is still usually active as we are all devoted to this website!

Answer 2: Um. Well to be fully honest with you, the only Mods are me, and Brenton. Our Global Moderator Nandon went camping and we haven't heard from him since. But also, the Administrator of the website, Emi, is as well active. But basically, two Mods, one Admin, and usually I'm always on via my phone so I could read any apps we may or may not get and accept/deny them. So in all, your answer is a yes.

Answer 3: Yes, you can state that he/she will be a Rider but then inform us at the last paragraph in the Anything Extra part stating that he/she will not start with the egg but receive it later on in the Roleplay.

Answer 4: Yes, you can gave your character just a first name if the parents died early in his/her life.

Answer 5: Yes, you can also have your character be taught magic via NPC magicians or ask another person to start a thread with you where his/her character will teach your character magic.

Answer 6: Well, the mobile version isn't really much so you would have to scroll to the bottom down and at the bottom right click on the 'Desktop Version'. I honestly would not recommend to do much in it other than inform others of something or if you are a Mod then accept/deny apps.

Answer 7: You get to Roleplay your dragon and Rider or such as me and Brenton, I made a new dragon character and asked Brenton if my dragon should become Brenton's dragon and he agreed. On those occasions you will have someone else roleplay your dragon however, in the end, you roleplay your Dragon and Rider.

1. Yes, usually. Sometimes there's fewer people on than others but there's always enough activity for some RPing to be going on.

2. Yep, in my opinion at least.

3. I did that myself. I applied for the dragon and Rider at the same time, but just stated that they wouldn't find the egg until later on.

4. I don't think a lot of people in Alagaesia had/used surnames, at least not among the general peasantry. Again, my character doesn't have a last name, but that's just because she was a peasant so had no need for one. So if your character is an orphan or a commoner, they can only have one name.

5. Yeah, I've seen a lot of people do this (me included - my charrie couldn't use magic until she became a Rider)

6. Not really, the mobile version is pretty buggy and hard to navigate, plus the Shoutbox doesn't work well. As Vlaer said, it's best to scroll to the bottom and view the desktop version if you have to use a mobile device.

7. You RP both Rider and dragon because it's much easier since they interact with one another so much. If you really wanted to, you might be able to ask someone else to RP your dragon.

I hope that's helpful. Remember as well that we don't just allow Riders and dragons, but a whole host of other races both from the books and of our own creation. You can create your own race, or make pretty much any character you want! We have a bit of an excess of elves, half-elves and Riders right now, so while we'll still accept them it's nice to have some less common characters in play, like dwarves or normal humans or something.
