Okay so the Godlings are complicated but here's the general idea for them.
Godlings are former deities from before the world was ever created that are responsible for many wrong doings. Because of this they were stripped of most of their power and condemned to Earth.
NAME: Godlings AGE: As gods they are older than the world but can be any age as a godling.
MAGIC: Supreme knowledge of how the world and magic exists but unable to cast even the simplest of spells.
STRENGTHS: Four times as fast as an elf and twice as strong as them as well, immune to harm done by a non-enchanted weapon
WEAKNESSES: Highly susceptible to any forms of magic

I'm sorry, but I have to admit I took this as joke when it first appeared. Yet, since I have been seeing evidence to the contrary, I feel like I need to voice my opinion about this.
Now, first off, I'm going to state that this RP isn't exactly 'lore strict'. There are many races, events, and organizations that happen in this RP that takes things away from main plot of the books, and for the most part I'm perfectly fine with that. In fact, there are some things like the Rider Branches, the Dragon Spirit race, or the whole plot about the North that I really enjoy. These all are RPer created ideas that are unique, but can still easily fit themselves in the setting of Inheritance. Yet, something like the Godlings just doesn't work. Alagesia is a place where Deities are meant to be unknown and mysterious beings that no one is really sure they even exist. In fact, the only evidence that exist to them actually existing is during Orik's coronation where we see umm... Gûntera I think his name was, appeared before Orik and spoke his approval. Even then, it's unclear if Gûntera was real, or just some type of illusion. Then there are the elves that are, for the most part, purely atheists, not believing in any god and instead have a much more scientific view on the world. And then there are the humans who possess many different types of religions. This itself created a subplot where Eragon wonders on what he should believe in and if the deities were even real. With the existant of Godlings though, it breaks the air of mystery about deities and proves once and for all they exist. This itself breaks a part of the unique identity of the Inheritance World, a part which makes it more comparable to our own compared to other fantasy settings.
Now, there are other reasons too why I don't believe that a race like this should not exist in the RP, but most of those go into the fact that I view this Race as completely and utterly OP, even for a purposefully OP race, and I prefer not to go into that type of conversation yet.

Thank you for the input Timmir. It is appreciated and welcomed. Staff has discussed this one for some time now and it has raised quite a bit of controversy.
I can see what you mean by it and Godlings are pretty difficult to put into the roleplay. Their only powers is knowledge and speed and strength. The later two are to give them a bit of equal footing if facing a magic user. Perhaphs a bit of amensia would help with this taking away some of what they know. Or maybe like grey folk they could be descendants of Gods. No knowledge but maybe just strength and speed. Demi-god in a way.
Would you see something like this as more fitting? Or is this an un-resolvable race in terms of fitting it into the world we have here?
If you have any ideas for how we could tweak it or work it in better without breaking the time space continuum please share.
also don't worry about seeing Godlings realized. They are not playable without winning one from applying. Plus as long as there is this much controversy over them I won't allow them even through applying. Not until something gets worked out. Causing upset is not my goal and I will take great lengths to avoid that and make sure this place is enjoyable for everyone.
If anyone else has something they want to say on this please do so.

I'm with Timmir on this one. In the books, the gods seem to either not exist or have little interest in people. I don't think they would cast their own members down as punishment; even with means taken to prevent them talking, there's the risk they would be discovered. Plus I would imagine the gods would all feel they needed one another to keep the world running, so wouldn't just throw one of their number down to earth. Amnesia seems like a bit of a cop out as there could be more interesting ways to go about this, I don't know.
The knowledge this certainly has to go, or at least be severely diminished. That's just gonna stew up a tonne of OP arrogant douches. I like the idea of Alagaesia's working being very mysterious. The gods wouldn't know the workings of the entire universe; they would only know about what it was they controlled. So the Hunting God would know a lot about hunting, but not much else. For big thing like magic or water, there would be lots of gods for different aspects of that. If they didn't spread the knowledge out like that, then there wouldn't be a point in having many gods, after all, which is what is implied in the Inheritance books.
I guess I just feel that it would be tempting for RPers to make a godling's entire personality just 'powerful' and ignore their actual feelings or development. I also feel that we shouldn't try accepting or rejecting the idea of gods in CP's universe once and for all, and that the question should remain a mystery.

Okay while I feel strongly about the possibility of this race I must agree with some of these arguments. First I will give rebuttal on my views though. In Greek mythology every God or goddess has supreme knowledge of the world but choose to stay in the domain they are in. Over powered is intentional but if you think about it even the oldest rider can claim to know everything. Powerful douches can happen anywhere with any race. As for casting them down. That is an idea from Christianity when the Lord cast Lucifer and his disciples from heaven and forbade them to ever return. As for the Inheritance world if I were to make a godling then he/she would not want everyone to judge him or even know who he was. Sort of like a fugitive who changes their identity and only they know who they really are. The gods would still be "mysterious" but we are the RPer would know different.

Yeah, but this isn't Greek mythology or Christianity, is it? CP's universe has very different religions to those. The oldest Riders can in no way claim to know everything, because there is a lot left undiscovered. Even the oldest Eldunari in Inheritance did not know everything. You might want to RP them one way, but another person's take might be completely different to yours. Also, I don't think in Greek mythology every god and goddess did have supreme knowledge. Plus the whole God casting down Lucifer thing couldn't work since there isn't one overlord God figure, but many gods who are all on the same level of authority going by what is said in the books. You can go with the whole fugitive thing without them having to be a god, if you want. Perhaps they could be some kind of demi-god, the offspring of a god and a human/dwarf/elf/urgal? I just really don't like the concept of people related to gods as a whole.

You're right Quetzal, this isn't those religions but is in fact CP's world. Now have you not looked at the book and seen the real world inspirations in the books? This may not be Greek myth or Christianity but Alagaesia is CP's home, Angela is his sister. There are many references. I just used those two as guidelines in my idea. As for the claiming knowledge...anyone can CLAIM it but the riders would have the most reason to have that knowledge. All the gods would have to convene to cast them down anyhow. Yet if you don't like the idea then I'm not sure it's worthwhile to even point out my thought process when creating this race. I'm open for suggestions to make this a better race but generally a demigod would be proud of their heritage and not hide unlike a disgraced godling

I may not like them as they are, but that makes me more in favour of changing and improving them. A demigod wouldn't necessarily be proud of their heritage. The gods seem to want to avoid direct contact with people, so it would be an incredibly shameful thing for them to go and have a child with one.
If disgraced and powerful is the angle you're trying for here, why not tie it in with the plot from the north? They could be exiled members of Grey Folk settlements in the North, stripped of powers and rank. A godling would certainly be proud of their heritage (maybe not in the family sense unless the gods have family) if they had once been a god, but a person who disgusts everyone they ever knew? With gods there would be someone in support of the godling and the crime would have to be so huge it would get noticed, but with Grey Folk it could be something like murder, and they would have everyone against them. As Grey Folk, they would be strong and fast and smart depending on their interests, but they could have been stripped of magic ability as punishment before exile. They'd be more alone as they had no claim to greatness with anyone, and they might still have to hide themselves. I'm happier with that as it seems a lot more realistic, but that's just my opinion.

Hm grey folk outcasts would certainly be interesting. I have an idea that I'm first going to discuss with Emi so lemme get back to this later.

As grey folk outcasts it certainly would fit with the world CP created and wouldn't be as hard to integrate. Maybe we could just take elements of the original godling idea and filter it into that as best we can without breaking the game with it.
But anyways I should go read your message first.
Again thank you all for the input and for keeping this as a constructive discussion. =)

The Grey Folk outcasts sounds like a good idea, as long as they avoid being related to divinity. Maybe this could be a group that split off from the group that existed on Alagesia, having sailed off to lands unknown before the binding ritual, and are only now just returning.
