I thought we could have a chat thread. I know most of us use the c-box but we can have more than one chat right? right. =) Anways well October is here in full. So how is the month treating you? any halloween plans? It keeps getting colder at night where I am so I have to carry in one of my heavy pots so my plants don't die. Kind of annoying but hey I'm going to have something green in my yard for as long as I can make it last. The leaves in my back yard are just starting to hint at changing color. Usually it ends up yellow and red in my yard.

Getting colder here too! Leaves are mostly still green. Nights are definitely getting longer, and it's dark when I wake up for school. Soon it'll still be dark when I leave the house in the mornings.
Gardening is not something anyone in my family enjoys, so all the potted plants are dead. The ones in the ground are alive, though.

I don't like it when it's dark when you wake up and leave. Though driving with the sun in your face is worse. I don't think my family really enjoys gardening much either. They will plant stuff in the spring but by mid summer the plants either get forgotten, weedy or overgrown. My pot is the only one that isn't like that, I hate it looking ugly so I'm always keeping it well taken care of.

Where I live it's getting colder too, and rains at least once each day. Leaves here are still green. My family (Me included) don'tdo almost any kind of gardening, though I doubt that we would miss green, it's odd that everything changes of color where I live.
Also I have no plans for Halloween, though I do have plans for Day of the Dead, I really love going to the stores full of candy, and I enjoy sugar skulls over all.

That would be awesome to have it rain that often. Where I live we don't get hit by a lot of rain. What I miss most after fall is having all the tree's bare and everything brown during winter.
Aw! sweet. I know what Day of the Dead is, though I've never celebrated it. It looks really enjoyable though.

I don't have to worry about the sun in my eyes while driving, because I can't drive! I've been learning for about 6 month now but I haven't passed my test yet. Insurance and fuel are far too expensive for me to actually drive one of my parents' cars even when I do pass. I get a bus to school instead.
Halloween's not a big deal for my family. We didn't actually do anything until I was first allowed to go trick-or-treating when I was about eight, but most people in my area are pretty old so hadn't heard of trick-or-treating. This year I think I'm going to a friend's. I've heard of Day of the Dead too, but again never seen it celebrated. What sort of stuff do you usually do for that?

Heh, yeah, we are in the middle of our rainy season. I had never seen a tree fully bare (Unless is dead), since the most we reach here is only a lot of falling leaves, but never enough for that.
Yeah, many people who aren't from Mexico think that Day of the Dead is an odd creepy celebration, but we like it a lot here. Everything is full of colors and scents of all kinds, and traditional candies are everywhere, almost all of them for free if you know where to go, almost all the months of October and November. All the country is in the middle of a great party and, if you go to Zócalo in Mexico City, it isn't unusual to see huge offerings to the ones who died and people always give you traditional candy, specially chocolate skulls and sugar skulls, and they are delicious!!!!! Also you don't need to be a child, you can be 70 years old and everyone still gives you candy and fruit.

Fuel and insurance are really expensive! Right now my parents are paying that for me, though when I land a better job my mom told me I need to start paying for it. A bus sounds like a good alternative. I nearly failed the driving test when I first took it. I passed by only a few points, I wasn't as good a driver then as I am now.
As long as I can remember my family would go trick-or-treating but that was about all we did for Halloween. Now we don't do trick-or-treating but just hang out and play games or watch a movie instead.
I have to admit I used to think it was a strange sounding celebration based on the name alone. Until I took a year of learning Spanish, our professor made sure we learned about the culture along with the language. Which is how I learned what Day of the Dead really was. It sounds really fun, I'd love to see that! There is nothing like that where I live.

Hmm... Maybe we should look at doing a Day of the Dead thread in the RP?

Ooo that would be cool!
Silver would have to handle that, since I doubt any of us know enough about it to start it.

I can handle this, but I think I'll need some help to make a formal event. I can give all the info needed to anyone who wants to help me out. Or it can be a general thread instead, then it would be easier for me to check it out and put everything in place.

I'd love to help. Just let me know what you need me to do. I can make it a site wide announcement when we do it.

So I know I haven't done much on here yet but I want to get in on a thread. Is there any way I can join in on a thread without creating a chara first?

You could make a roleplay thread outside of the main boards. Such as in the roleplay plot board or general board. Those places would not requite a character. The main game area does require it.

Ok that makes sense.

I can see there being some sort of Day of the Dead celebration in Alagaesia! It's a medieval type place, so I doubt they'd have chocolate, but they'd probably have some sort of pastry or sugared skull thing.

Can't say I managed to read all these posts cuz I'm in a hurry, but I did read a few. My reply to how the month's treating me? Badly. Birthday was on the 5th, but on the same day I got incredibly sick and now I can barely move a few steps without falling into a coughing fit and have minor fits. My whole body's in a bad shape health-wise, but I'm still glad for the site and the amount of progress it's been through!

Hi Vlaer. I'm sorry to hear that! Being sick like that is just miserable, I really hope you get feeling better soon.
