It had been a long couple years since Feanaro had left Ellesmera on Jarkore's back to go in search of Anoron, a sword in the North that was said to be able to end the war. He knew of two swords like this, The Blade of the Nether and Anoron, but both of them had gruesome histories and both were likely to sway the tides in the holder's favor instead of any other. So the elf had gone on the black dragon into the snow covered landscape with their new training to see what they could find out about said sword. Yet nothing had been discovered up in the North except that it was ungodly cold and there were races up there that he had never seen before.
So Feanaro had flown back toward Alagaesia, his body chilled to the bone and his stomach protesting from hunger, while his eyes scanned the horizon to see where he was at. If he was correct then they would be flying into Du Weldenvarden any minute now but still he saw no trees and only mountains all around. There should not be mountains near the forest and I didn't think the Spine was just to our left when we left so why is it just to our right now? Jarkore's voice broke through to the tall and muscular elf who was distracted but he was agreeing with his black dragon partner that the Spine was too close.
So Palancar Valley was where they were but, what was that he had just seen to his right under the waterfall and to the back? It looked like stone walls and maybe some parapets that were still tall and proud but why would they be there if there was no one to rule from this area. Wasn't there once a human king named Palancar who had a castle near Carvahall? So why had the villagers never seen it unless it was somewhere that they would never look for fear of death or whatever the reason was. That only left a waterfall or even the Spine but Feanaro knew Eragon had ventured into the Spine frequently because Brenton spoke of him once doing this.
Where was his old teacher and master when he needed him most in this time of confusion of what was going on with this area? Feanaro didn't even know if Brenton was still alive but maybe someone in the area would so the elf told Jarkore to fly down to the ground where he could see for any tracks left by the living. First he was going to get some food to tide over his stomach and get it to stop protesting about being hungry when he was busy moving. So Feanaro looked around and saw deer tracks that led toward the trees where he could just make out the deer grazing on grass under the foliage above him. With a grin that lit up his face, the black haired elf raised his hand and uttered a spell that killed the deer where it stood by pulping its heart and brain at the same time.
Feanaro gathered branches together and lit a fire in a circle of stones while he looked around for more food that he soon came across. Another deer, this one being fatter and a doe that had lived for awhile so was meatier, was grazing a little ways away from the last. Feanaro killed that deer in the same manner and then went to work with dragging the deer over to the fire where he skinned and prepared the meat. Some wild potatoes and onions were around him so he gathered those as well as the fruit from the trees and a bowl of water from the river.
Feanaro pulled out a deep pan and boiled water that he put some cut up deer meat and vegetables into as well as some spices that he had in a bag on his saddle bags. The food smelled good and soon Feanaro was sitting own to a full pot of soup and a bowl of fruit as well as water, a meal fit for a king, as he waited for someone to come along to see what was cooked.

Tintaglia started to sniff the air and shot toward the fire and as they landed Saphone flyew from the saddle and hit his head on a tree blacking out...

Feanaro was just finishing up a bite of soup when he heard the thud of wings as they flapped and the wing hit his face. He could feel the cool air and then he could sense more than see a dragon and rider land next to where he was at but something was wrong. The rider was unconscious in the saddle, obviously tired from flying for so long in the air when humans weren't meant to fly. Quickly the elf stood and walked over to check on the rider, quickly cutting the straps with his knives so that the rider fell into his arms. With practiced motions, Feanaro laid the male rider on the ground and took the bowl of water as well as a clean rag that he soaked in the cool water. He dipped the rag on the male's face softly, trying to wake him and wipe away grime from his face at the same time.
For some reason, Feanaro got the feeling that this rider would know about Brenton in some way and that would help so he made a bowl of soup. He put fruit next to the bowl and a spoon for him to eat with when he awoke. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the rider to wake up and notice that Feanaro was friendly, unless this was an Empire rider.

Saphone stopped and grabbed for Islingr but it wasnt at his side like it should be nor was his bow on his back that Eragon had made for him.
He looked around for Tintaglia and saw she was nowhere in sight and started to panicand remembered something Eka ai fricai of the Varden un Shurtugal

((Please don't speak or act for my characters. Usually I can work around it but some things like that I would never have my characters say.))
Feanaro raised a hand and spoke in the Ancient Language, his voice smooth and flowing as he switched to that which was his native tongue. "My name is Feanaro Shadeslayer, rider and friend of the elves. I am not going to hurt you if you are a friend of the Varden but do you happen to know what happened to my old mentor, Brenton Bromsson? Last I knew he was the prince of the elves and had just lost his dragon Vaentr." Feanaro looked at Jarkore who was busy flying around watching the dragon that had to have been only a little ways away from the rider who was panicking so much.
Do you worry about your dragon, young Halfling? If so do not for she is nearby but she is not going to be going to you to defend for if she does then I will kill her in mid flight. My name is Jarkore, dragon of Feanaro and also a friend of the elves now please calm your mind and speak to my rider in a normal manner.

Saphone calmed a bit for Tintaglia's sake and recounted the events of what happened and that Brenton was now king of the elves and that he and Tintaglia were good friends of the elven king and that he when angered turned into Vaentr through means of Cruxic crystals which should have stayed lost...
If you dont mind may i have my weapons back for where are my sword and bow?
And please dont harm My dragon Tintaglia is my only passion in life..

Feanaro listened patiently to what Saphone had to say while he grabbed the weapons from by his bags across the clearing. So Brenton had gotten into some trouble and was using dark magic now? That just didn't sound like the Brenton that he knew and learned from who would have balked at the thought of using anything like a cruxis crystal. Yet he was king now which must mean that Islanzadi was dead and that could be one of the reasons Brenton was so prone to darker magics. Still there was something not right with what this rider was saying.
How was Brenton able to turn into Vaentr when the blue dragon had been killed just by using a cruxis crystal unless their were forms of the cruxis crystal that no one knew about. Maybe Rerukusu would know since he was the only other person with a cruxis crystal that the elf knew about. "I'm not going to hurt Tintaglia either because I respect dragons. Thank you for telling me what you know but know please tell me how you know all of these things about Brenton. Did he find other students after Jarkore and I left or were we his last ones?"

"I am a personal friend to Brenton as well as his brother Eragon Shadeslayer and i dont know everything though because i still am learning about him and I had the misfortune when i was younger to anger him out of lack of attention to my word choices but i was able to calm him down after i explained it to him"...
"As for him having other students i really dont know because i learned from Oromis and Glaedr and Brenton has also lost his second dragon Graezel"
Oh yeah i almost forgot to introduce myself. I am Saphone Mareksson and I would like to see Tintaglia."
Saphone said all this in the Ancient Language so that this fellow Rider would know he was telling the truth

Feanaro nodded sadly as he tried to understand all that Saphone was saying about Brenton, who he had known as a teacher and a friend, but still things were missing. He was missing some important details and it had something to do with this second dragon, Grazael, that the boy was talking about so calmly. Maybe the dragon had been a deciding factor for Brenton to use some desperate magic to figure out a problem that had arose. After all, Feanaro knew that the king had little to do aside from brood and few friends to spend time with. The elf rider looked at Saphone for a second and then waved his hand, a vague motion in most cases but a powerful one here, that caused that trees just to their side to untangle and show Tintaglia.
Feanaro gasped with fatigue and rested his hands on his knees while breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling rapidly. So he wasn't as adept at magic as he once had been before leaving, that could be a problem later on if they were attacked. When Feanaro caught his breath he stood up and cast a glance at Jarkore who moved away from Tintaglia. They had gotten to where they stopped needing to talk to communicate, or even use mental words. Now just a glance conveyed most of what they had to say to each other these days.
"Well there is no way for me to know exactly what happened in my absence but Brenton was once a great man, not dwelling upon anger all the time. It sounds like something from his past haunts him and drives him to do things he would not normally do, even more reason for me to get to Ellesmera with haste. As for this second dragon that you mentioned, Grazael was it, he would not have taken a dragon if he was not missing Vaentr and I suspect that the king misses his old friend. Not even you or I could imagine what he went through when he lost Vaentr at the hands of a shade just to protect a student of mine that was nothing but a boy."
Feanaro looked sadly at Saphone again and cleared his throat, hoping his voice wouldn't be filled with pain and frustration like he feared it would. "How did the queen die and why did Arya, being older than Brenton by many years, not take the throne instead of someone like him stepping up? Brenton would hardly be accepted as he was a former Empire member and someone who shirked his responsibilities as prince just to see his father when he was younger."
((If you don't know the Islanzadi thing then that's fine because it was never decided aside from Galbatorix and his riders killed her after Brenton tried to stop them. Arya was missing but for details on that ask Harbor.))

"Brenton was the only one still eligible to take up the throne because Islanzadi was killed by Galbatorix and his riders while Brenton tried to stop them she was killed and Arya was still missing at the time and by the time she was found Brenton already had the throne" Saphone explained and suddenly heard footsteps approaching from behind but knew who it was so he didnt bother drawing his blade where as Feanaro did but looked surprised to see Brenton coming up behind Saphone
"Atra du esterni ono thelduin, Brenton Brommson" said Saphone twisting his hand over his sternum as he showed the sign of fealty and Tintaglia did the same.
(Sorry for bringing one of your characters into this Brenton but i had to because i was running out of ideas)

((Meh I understand just try not to do it much on here without people's permission. I am pretty lenient and flexible with posts so it doesn't affect me.))
Feanaro drew his weapons and crouched into a ready position as he heard the sound of footsteps coming toward them with a slight haste to the way they fell. Someone was trying to get here and obviously wasn't afraid of what would happen if they frightened the dragon riders who were busy discussing the elves. Strange how people could be so open with their behaviors now that he was returning. Feanaro remembered when it was more of a challenge to get people to be open and free with how they spoke. Yet he wasn't prepared for the next thing to happen as the person stepped from the trees into the light where they could be seen.
It was an elf, sort of, who stood regally with his head held high and his body slightly tensed up in fear of what would happen next. Black hair that curled around his ears fell down to the elf's eyes but no further but the eyes caught his attention for they were golden. Gold like the sun setting or like the bronze of a blade that was crafted out of the same metal. His skin was pale and flawless with a strange glow to it almost like energy radiated from within.
His ears were slightly pointed and his facial features, while finer than a human's, were still not fully elf-like. His jaw was covered in growth of thick black hair that grew into a goatee. This was not someone that Feanaro would say he had ever met if he did not see that attire, green and brown for color scheme. The shirt was silk and unbuttoned half way while he had a leather half vest over that covered in small loops for blades of all sizes. His pants were softer but sturdy material that fell down over a pair of brown softened leather hunting boots that obviously had a dagger in the right one. He had a belt on with two swords in sheathes, a blue blade and a silver one that was shorter but made by elves as well. Over his back was a quiver and a long bow as well as a shield with the royal crest on it.
This was Brenton Bromsson, king of the elves, but he was different and the look he cast at Feanaro was one of pure shock and pain. You...you disappeared so long ago Feanaro Shadeslayer, with nothing to say for a departing good bye. I'm not sure how to tell you all of the things that have happened since you left but you really must return to Ellesmera to meet my most recently graduated students and to enjoy a feast. Brenton looked at Saphone briefly and smiled just slightly to show he had seen the gesture but had been distracted. Forgive me Saphone, Tintaglia, I was caught up in seeing Feanaro after so long. I trust he has introduced himself and you both know each other now so I will skip introductions.
Feanaro blinked in horror at the way Brenton spoke because it sounded so unlike him and his light-hearted manner of speech. This was not Brenton Bromsson, mentor of his and Jarkore's for so many years. No this was someone else who had been changed by strange tidings and even stranger magics. "Brenton-elda, why do you act so shocked to see me after I return? I left to search the North because I was curious about what lay in that land so I had to figure it out. You act like I was gone because I died yet that is not the case here."

"You need not apologize to me Brenton as we are friends and i understand that you have not seen Feanaro in a long time as I often hear you speaking of him when i visit Ellesmera but perhaps you should answer his questions because he keeps asking me everything about you and i only know so much and I am really hungry..." Saphone explained to the king, and Saphone and Tintaglia began their own private conversation with one another, but kept a bit of their attention to what was being said between Brenton and Feanaro as Saphone knew this would be a good way to get a little more history about these two in addition to what Saphone knew already.
Tintaglia then just snuggled up to her rider as Saphone was getting cold and paid attention to the 2 elves....
